Strangers in the North
Disclaimer-I don't owe any of the characters or the concept other then the ideas in the stories. I am new to this whole genre but have fallen in love with it.
This story picks up right where season two left off.
Chapter One
The City of Lyrengorn was usually a welcoming place to all people. A fortress of many sights and attractions, a place for an escape from the dreary cold that surrounded the hidden paradise. Unfortunately for the four team members of Vox Machina their journey here had been anything but pleasant.
They were running but weren't sure exactly where to go. They had just gotten off the skyship when the trouble had started. Normally they knew how they managed to piss people off but this came out of nowhere. The soldiers at the front gate had refused them access, making obscene comments and unwilling to listen to the concerns the rest of the county had been dealing with. When things became hostile there was only one option for them.
They ran away and were pursued.
The heavy rain made it difficult to get any traction as they tried to keep close to the outside wall of the city. Going too far out into the frozen wilderness would only make things worse. Vex'ahlia turned back to see Percival right on her heels.
"Where's Vax and Keyleth," she yelled over her shoulder.
"Went…the other way,…we'll meet back up later," Percy called back. There weren't many options when it came to places to hide. Vex found it difficult to come up with a plan on the fly like this while trying to keep several steps ahead of those chasing them. At this point she wasn't really sure how many soldiers had joined the chase but wasn't going to stop to find out either. When she considered how many voices she could hear behind them it was more than the two of them could handle.
Just as Vex turned the next corner she was suddenly hit hard by a moving mass and went flying to the ground. Percy slid to a stop almost tripping over his feet.
"Vex'ahlia," he yelled her name but she didn't move. Before he could take another step a mountain of a man dressed in soldier's armor moved more to stand between him and Vex. "Well shit," he muttered to himself.
Rain continued to pour down relentlessly, soaking into Vex's clothes and hair. The muddy puddle she was laying in almost seemed to be pulling her unconscious form down. Percy knew he had to get her somewhere safe before the guards overtook them both but knew he didn't stand much chance against the guard in his way. He was practically the size of Grog. Before Percy could figure out a strategy something wet and heavy hit him from behind also causing him to fall into the cold mud as well. His glasses were knocked off his face, scratching his nose in the process. He felt what was most likely someone's knee in the middle of his spine holding him where he landed.
"No, please I need to see if she's okay!" His statement was ignored as another soldier came over, irons in his hands. Percival felt an unfortunately familiar sensation of his arms being pulled behind his back as cold metal made contact with his wrists. He instantly started to panic, yelling her name even louder hoping she'd wake up but she didn't. There was a sudden pain that rattled his thoughts. Warmth ran down the side of his face before crimson dripped off his chin into the freezing sludge he was pushed into. The world then went black.
