Modern AU A new nightfury Hatchling is discovered. And it's Rider/adoptive mom is hoping that having an adult nightfury in the name of Toothless, will be beneficial to her new companion. Self-insert.

1. Chapter 1

The Nightfury Hatchling Prologue

A young woman was on a walk in her local nature park, when she saw a young baby dragon on death's doors.

Pulling out her phone, she called the emergency number for her Local Dragon Society. "Hello? I've found a young hatchling abandoned at Memorial Park… yes, I'm certain that it's been abandoned, it can't be more than a few days old… okay, I'll bring it in."
The young woman scooped up the young black dragon, knowing that it was rare, but didn't know that it was only the second known Nightfury in the world after Hiccup Horridus Haddoc the 3rd had rescued his dragon, Toothless as a hatchling.

ON BERK

Hiccup had just gotten off the phone with a Dragon Society that was trying to help a new Rider with a baby Nightfury.
He had gathered up his Riders. "Okay gang, big news. Another Nightfury has been spotted. The Dragon Society that has been helping the new rider with the baby dragon says that they are going to help her with all the necessary legal documents, and other legal procedures before the little one and her rider come to Berk."
"Does your dad know of the baby Nightfury?" Astrid asked.
"No, but I will be telling him."
