Klaus looks at the two people in front of him. The woman smiles and lets the hurting man in. He didn't know if they would want him after this.
"Nik! Nik! You're here! Flore! Nik's here!" A little girl comes down the stairs and runs to hug Klaus. Another girl comes down and joins the hug. The man breaks down crying. The couple holds the hurting man.
"We've got you, Niklaus. We got you," The woman tells him. After a while, Klaus sniffled. He plays with the girls, and the couple cooks in the kitchen.
"Phoebe, Florence, leave Nik alone. Play by yourselves," The woman tells the girls. They hear them whine, and Nik laughs.
"Edna, Herbert..." Nik trails off. Edna gathers the boy in her arms.
"None of that, my sweet. We love you, Nik. You are a good man, Niklaus. Florance made you our sire and not Mikael. The bastard turned us to hurt you. You tried to save us. Don't let your siblings tell you otherwise. They stopped trying to see the good and kindness in you a long time ago. You're a kind boy," Edna tells him. Herbert smiles at the two.
"Nik, you do what you need to do to survive. Mikael is a piece of shit that singled you out. You never deserved the abuse he gave you. Your siblings never understand what it feels like not to be loved by your parents. You kept a lot of the abuse from your siblings. You have a heart of gold and want to do what's right. We love you, kid, and your sisters love you too," Herbert tells the man. Herbert doesn't care if Klaus is older than him; Klaus will forever be 23, and Herbert will forever be 51. His wife will be 37, and the girls will be 10.
Mikael used them to hurt his son, but Edna, being her protective mama, protected Nik. Herbert forced Mikael away from Nik. The four have given Nik a home he can have if he needs it.
"What happened, Niky?" Edna asks her son. The boy clutches the other man.
"Rebekah brought Mikael back and to the family. Esther with him. I don't know what to do," Nik confesses to them. The parents smile at the two.
"Stay with us. Florance has this place protected. Go to school. If you stay here, you have to talk to a therapist. That's not a suggestion. Be with the family that loves you," Edna tells him. Nik starts to cry and hugs him.
Five years later, Nik sees his siblings at his apartment and sighs. He changed in a lot of ways. His apartment is a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment. The girls visit whenever they want to.
"How did you find me?" Nik questions. The hurt and betrayal are still there, but so are calm and tiredness. Elijah goes and helps him hold a bag of food. He nods in thanks. Nik opens the door, and his siblings follow him. Rebekah and Freya are nervous and want their brother back. Kol and Finn are tense. Elijah is calm.
"I found you, brother," Finn tells him. Nik nods in understanding.
"What do you want?" He asks them. They all blink at him.
"We want you back, little brother," Elijah says.
"Why?" Nik asks, throwing them off guard.
"We fucked up and paid the price of losing you," Kol says. He can see that Klaus won't come with them readily. Klaus sighs.
"We start small. I'm not ready to live with everyone again and texts and calls," Klaus says, and they all nod. They will be the ones to give Klaus his time to heal.
"We can do that," Freya agrees. Rebekah doesn't want that, but if that's how Klaus needs it, she will go with it. Elijah watches his favorite brother.
"NIKY!" Twin girls come in. Edna trails behind them. His siblings see Klaus's interaction with the girls. Edna looks at them with a sigh.
