A Tragic Start

It hurts… I'm dying, I feel so weak I can't move.

"Oh god!" My eyes turn towards the voice, it's a police officer, a woman.

"Hey, stay with me!" The officer yells pressing cloth over my wound, that hurts

"I found a group of people, all of them are shot, but one of them is still alive, hurry!" She yells on the radio.

Wait, one is alive? I turn my eye towards my parents, they're… gone? I'm about to join them too… It's getting dark, I can't keep my eyes open.

"Stay awake! Don't close your eyes!" The officer yells

I'm sorry officer, I can't, at least you tried…

The following day the news would report about how several young men, women and two parents were killed during the nineteenth birthday party of Misato Morgan.

"My body feels cold, I only see darkness, is this what death is like? It's so empty… I don't know how long I have been like this." He thinks to himself

Suddenly streams of golden light appear from behind him, "what's going on? It feels warm…"

Then the young man finds himself falling onto a metal floor on his back

THUNK

"Ow…What" he says looking at an old stone ceiling.

"Welcome," A girl says.

Misato turns his head towards the voice, seeing a young girl probably about ten years old wearing a red and white dress, with red eyes, and silver hair with thin streaks of light blue strands, her hair is short, and she has three tufts of hair standing straight up and beautiful wings on her back. Something about her seems familiar but he can't recall, as his mind was focused on more pressing matters.

"Hero, you have been summoned because I need your help-"

"Have you seen my parents and friends?!" Misato yells interrupting the girl.

He stands up "My parents are about this tall, and my dad has brown hair and yellow eyes like mine and my mom has black hair like mine. One of my friends has glasses and is slightly taller than me. Have you seen them?" He asks the girl.

She shakes her head "I am sorry, hero, but you are the only one who appeared…"

Misato looks around, it's just an empty stone room with a metal circle, and some stairs that go outside, it's just him and her… Suddenly he feels cold. "C-can you please p-pinch my arm?" He asks, raising his left arm towards her. She pinches the arm, he feels pain. Oh god, this is real… The young man falls to his knees.

"No… I died... Died to some robbers that thought we were rich! I'm the only one who's alive, in some random place. I'm alone, even if I come back home, no one else will be there! Mom and dad won't be able to hold me, my friends won't be there to help me! I'm alone!" Tears begin to well up in his eyes

The girl hugs Misato "Sh… It's okay, you're not alone" She whispers in his ear, her hand rubbing the top of his head. "I'm right here, let it all out"

Tears began to stream down his face, the young man hugs the girl back and continues to cry.

Misato didn't know how long he cried for, but it felt like hours for the young man.

"Are you feeling better?" The girl asks, looking at the young man with concern.

He wipes the tears off his face "Ya, sorry for freaking like that…" Misato lets go of her.

"It's alright," she says and stops rubbing his head. Does he know her name?

"Um, my n-name is Misato Morgan, what's yours?" He asks, his amber-colored eyes staring at her crimson ones.

"Fitoria"

"Nice to meet you," he says, doing his best to smile. Wait, she says her name is Fitoria, the only time he heard of that name is when he watched an anime…

"Are you the Queen of the filolials?"

"Yes" She tilts her head, ok that's cute, "How did you know?"

That confirms it, Misato somehow got Isekai ed into Rising of the Shield Hero, what the hell? This can't be real! Is he in heaven or something that simulates a paradise for those who died or something? Or is he somehow in a coma and this is a dream?

Oh, right she's still waiting for an answer. "I know because I came from a world and know a story similar to this world" She looks at the young man with a blank face.

"What do you mean?" Fitoria asks.

"I-I w-well..." The memory of Fitoria tearing up in the anime flashes in his mind. "Nevermind." Misato says, suddenly feeling guilty. Fitoria's past is tragic it would be rude to say that it was fake, she spent time alone as she outlives her master and her friends, she barely remembers them… She outlives the person that raised her, just as he just did.

Misato then touches the carved metal floor, the places where he has not touched felt cold. He inhales the air, it tasted dusty. He looks back at the winged girl next to him. The pain of Fitoria pinching him felt real, the warmth of her body when she hugged him as he cried felt real, her gentle voice whispering words that he needed to hear, it felt-No it was real. All of this...

Is Real.

Misato frowns, he needs to change the subject, "Fitoria, what was it that you were going to ask of me?"

She nods "I need your help to save this world and its inhabitants."

"Ok" Misato complies. He needs to live on. That's what his family and friends would have wanted. He stands up "Let's begin."

"Yes," Fitoria nods. "Let's go," she says walking towards the stairs, Misato follows her, taking each step towards the new world.

Author's Notes:

Hope you like the remaster; I understand if you don't really see a difference, I made the perspective a bit more consistent rather than having random I's like it's in first person. Also changed it to having more people dead at the start.

(9/25. I decided to add some things to build up some ideas of Misato's character. It makes more sense for him to initially be in denial that he is in the world of ROTSH or somewhere similar. But after some thinking, Misato comes to terms that the world is real.)

Just to be clear, Misato only knows Season 1 and Season 2 plus the missing details like the Training arc introduction of Eclair and the old lady, how Kyo is a parasitical spirit. And how the 3 Stooges fell to the Curse series and some details like facts about some characters. Some minor details that could be spoilers for this casual Anime enjoyer.

The remaster would fill out some of the missing plot holes rather than having later chapter smack new info inside that should have been discovered sooner rather than later.

This is an AU too, as there is a Fifth hero.
