Vanzilla rumbled down the road, the tires spinning up gravel as it went.
Lynn Sr. sat behind the wheel. He leaned forward, keeping his eyes straight ahead.
"We are almost there kids." Rita said as she turned in the passenger seat, to face her children.
Everyone cheered.
"About time dudes!" Luna said. She turned and gazed out the window.
Trees and shrubs passed by.
Lincoln sat in the sweet spot, reading one of his Ace Savvy comics.
Lori was talking to Bobby via video chat.
Luan sat behind Lincoln, cracking bad puns with Mr. Coconuts.
Lola and Lana were glaring at each other. Again.
10 minutes later, the van passed a sign reading Howling Forest.
The van pulled up to the guard shack and Lynn Sr. rolled down his window.
"Name please?" the guard said as she eyed the van full of people.
"It's Loud." Lynn Sr. said.
The woman gazed down at her clipboard.
The loud children gazed at the middle aged woman. She had black hair that was streaked with gray. She wore a blue and orange polo shirt and tan khaki shorts.
Her name tag read Samantha.
"Loud, huh? Well welcome to the Howling Forest." she said in a monotone voice.
Lana unbuckled her seatbelt, crawled into Luan's lap and poked her head out the window.
"Is this forest really haunted?" she asked Samantha curiously.
"I dont believe in the rumors. But..." Samantha sighed. "Apparently, the legend is that in 1666, a Wolfwalker named Mebh was shot by hunters in this very forest. Her heartbroken best friend buried her and vowed to torment anyone who disturbed her resting place. Robyn has been dead for over 350 years, but her ghost stays in the forest, waiting and watching over Mebh."
Just then another guard appeared. "Legend has it that Robyn will steal people's souls if they mess up Mebh's grave. A group of five 10 year old girls left their campsite to look for Robyn. One girl came back, traumatized, and the other 4 were never found."
Lincoln stared at the guy. His name tag read EARL.
"What happened to the 5th girl?" Lola asked.
Earl scratched his bearded chin.
"Well shortly after she was admitted to the funny farm, the staff at the hospital heard several terrified screams. When they went to check on her, they found nothing. She disappeared and was never seen again." Earl told the family.
Everyone fell silent.
"Like i said, i dont believe in them tall tales." she waved Lynn through.
"Enjoy your day." Earl said as Lynn Sr drove away.
