Lois and Clark have gone to Paris France for their honeymoon. Lois sits at a café. I wasn't much of a honeymoon. There was major flooding in Guyana, South America, and some members of the Justice League went down to help out. They included Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Superman of course. Lois feels a little burned by this. But how can she be mad at Clark for helping to save lives? She knew what she was signing up for when they got married.
Lois wanders the streets of Paris. It was a place she always dreamed of visiting. She always had a school girl fantasy of romance in this city. Then she walked in front of the Eiffel Tower and saw a hundred other couples with that same fantasy. It didn't seem as romantic to her when you were squished between so many other people chasing the same experience. Lois wanted to go somewhere a little quieter. She headed down the street and into the town. She came across a little perfume shop called D'Aramis. The store was empty except for the employee.
"Puis-je vous aider?" The employee asks.
"Uh, just, just looking around." Lois says, having not brushed up on her French.
"Ah, foreigner, American, yes?" The employee asks.
"Uh, wee." Lois says.
"Very good. Let me know if you need anything, my name is Vivian." The employee says.
"Merci." Lois says.
Lois continues looking around. She samples several different fragrances before she finds one she likes. Lois heads to the counter to check out. Vivian had seemed to disappear. Lois could hear her on the phone in the back room. Lois snuck over to listen in. Lois may not understand the words, but she can tell Vivian sounds frantic. Lois pulls out her tape recorder and hits for it to play.
"Tu me dis qu'il vient en ville ce soir?"
"Où à?"
"Piste d'atterrissage quarante et un."
"J'y serai, merci."
Vivian hangs up the phone and heads back to the sells floor. Lois rushes back to the counter.
"Ready to check out?" Vivian asks with her thick French accent.
"Yes." Lois says.
Vivian rings up Lois's perfume.
"Everything okay?" Lois asks.
"Why yes, everything is fine. And may I say you have made an excellent choice, one of my favorites." Vivian says.
Lois's journalistic instinct told her Vivian was troubled, but about what? She wondered.
"Do you own this place?" Lois asks.
"Oui, Vivian D'Aramis, that's me." Vivian says.
"Well may I say you have a very nice shop here." Lois says.
"Merci, you are a very kind American." Vivian says.
Lois hurries out of the shop and heads back to her hotel room. She plays the tape over and over, trying to piece the words together. Once she has a transcript written down of what Vivian said, she heads to her laptop to try and translate it.
"You're telling me he's coming into town tonight?"
"Where at?"
"Landing strip forty-one?"
"I'll be there, thanks."
Lois's mind went into overdrive. She just knew there was some sort of story here. She also knew that she was supposed to be on vacation. But Clark wasn't taking time off of work, so neither would she. She tried to call Clark, but he didn't answer. She was wondering if he'd have time to return. Next, she turned on the television to try and get an idea of how the situation in South America looked.
"Les inondations en Guyane continuent. La Justice League aide du mieux qu'elle peut, mais il reste encore un volume d'eau élevé à gérer." The news anchor says.
Lois wasn't sure exactly what the news anchor was saying, but she could tell it Clark would still be hung up for a while. Clark had made Lois a sonic device that he'd be able to hear anywhere on the planet. But she had decided now was not the time to use it. Lois had to find out where this plane was coming in at next. Lois looked up near by airfields, and there were only three nearby. Out of those three, only on had a landing strip numbered forty-one. That must be it, Lois convinces herself. Lois makes a plan to go there and find out what the situation is.
Lois manages to sneak her way onto the airfield. She waits crouched behind some cargo crates for hours. It gets late into the evening and she dozes off. Then she hears a plane coming in. Lois retakes her position. She doesn't see anyone else around. She hopes that she's in the right place. The plane lands and two suited men exit. A third man stepped out behind them. He was holding a metal briefcase. Lois was sure she was in the right place, but who were these people, she wondered.
Suddenly, over the top of the plane emerges a hooded figure in a red cloak. The figure bashes two of the men's heads together, knocking both of them out. The figure then claws at the man with the briefcase. The man holds up the briefcase to block, but the figure is wearing some sort of metal claws, slashing up the side of the briefcase. The man throws the briefcase at the hooded figure, knocking them over. He then pulls a gun out of his jacket pocket.
Lois had to do something, quick. She pries off a plank of wood from the crate she was behind and sneaks up behind the man. She swings it at his back. The plank wasn't very thick, it snaps in two and causes the man to stumble, but he stays on his feet.
"Who are you supposed to be?" He asks.
He points the gun at Lois. Lois closes her eyes.
"Ahhh!" The man screams.
Lois looks forward. The red figure had stabbed the man in the knee with her claws. The red figure fights him to the ground and removes their hood.
"Remember me?" The red figure asks. With her hood removed, Lois can see that it's Vivian D'Aramis.
"You, what, you think you're some sort of vigilante now?" The man asks.
"No, just out for revenge!" Vivian says.
Vivian reaches forward to claw at the man, but Lois grabs her arm and stops her.
"Reculer, you do not know what he did." Vivian says.
"I know killing him will cause you a lot more problems. Who is he anyway?" Lois asks.
"Kyle Nimbus. He was our investor when my sister and I started our perfume business." Vivian says.
"And this is the gratitude you show me?" Kyle barks.
"I should be showing you a lot worse after what you did." Vivian says.
"What did he do?" Lois asks.
"He- he killed my sister, Constance." Vivian says, pain and rage in her voice.
"Your sister had it coming, you were trying to two time me." Kyle says.
"We didn't need your investment anymore, but you wanted to take the company from us." Vivian says.
"I have a right to every dime you've made." Kyle claims.
The two other men begin to wake up. As they do, airfield security drive up to the scene.
"What's going on here?" One of the guards asks.
"Officer, this lady made an attempt on my life." Kyle says trying to get back to his feet, but still bleeding at the knee.
"There's more to it than that, it would appear this man murdered her sister." Lois chimes in.
The guard looks over at the man.
"That is a baseless claim, there's no proof." Kyle says.
"Actually." Lois says.
Lois pulls out her tape recorder and presses play.
"He- he killed my sister, Constance."
"Your sister had it coming, you were trying to two time me."
The tape recorder plays.
The guard looks back at Kyle.
"You- you can't honestly believe that." Kyle says.
"I think you better come with me." The guard says.
"I won't forget this." Kyle screams as he is taken off.
Lois looks over at Vivian.
"What's in the briefcase?" Lois asks.
"The proof I need. It has a sample of the last fragrance my sister made. We were going to use it to break free from Kyle and start funding ourselves." Vivian says.
"How can you prove that?" Lois asks.
"Because only I have the other sample of it. Kyle found out about our plan. He confronted my sister and killed her over this." Vivian says.
"I'm sorry you lost your sister." Lois says.
"I can not believe you, a mere customer showed up here." Vivian says.
"Well perhaps I can help tell your story, I'm Lois Lane of the Daily Planet." Lois says.
"Oh mon, Lois Lane. The one always writing about Superman?" Vivian asks.
"Uh yeah, that's me." Lois says.
"Ravie de réaliser votre aquatince." Vivian says.
"Um, yeah. I could get you an exclusive in the Planet if you're will to tell your story." Lois says.
"Oui." Vivian responds.
Later, Lois heads back to he hotel room. It was four in the morning. The room, was dark, but dimly lit. There was some sappy love music playing. Lois walks into the kitchenette and sees Clark sitting there with two dinners, and a table set with two mostly melted candles.
"Looks like we missed each other today. Lois, I'm sorry I took off it's just-
"Clark no please, I- I get it. You're Superman. Its selfish for me to want him all to myself." Lois says.
"But I've made a commitment to you." Clark says.
"And I've made a commitment to you too." Lois says.
"I'm sorry I wasn't here today." Clark says.
"I think we both have to realize we don't run normal lives." Lois says.
"But the time we spend together should be special." Clark says.
"It always is." Lois says.
"We did save a lot of people today. What about you? How did you spend your day?" Clark asks.
Lois smirks as she begins to tell her story.
