The train ride to Denver was suspiciously calm, with Percy replaying events under the surface of the river. He struggled to understand why he had to go to Santa Monica and what tricks the Nereid were talking about. He wondered whether he could even trust her gift.
As the landscape flew by and the constant vibrations of the Amtrak thundering through the country Percy couldn't help but rest his head against the glass and stare out into the distance. As his eyes threatened to send him to the realm of Morpheus his mind simply sent him back to replaying his lustful encounter.
The Nereids lips were beyond soft and the coolness of the flowing water of her body were indescribable. It was as if she could suck with the pressure of a thousand feet of water and Percy was longing for that feeling again. Alas, he had a quest to complete.
"I still don't understand why we have to go to Santa Monica." Annabeth huffed, hating the knowing feeling of a missing piece of the puzzle.
Percy shrugged his tired shoulders as his green orbs gazed the flowing green hills.
"What's even out there?" Percy asked as he let out a yawn.
Annabeth's picturesque faced was contorted in a frown. "I really don't know…" She continued.
Percy snorted as he gave Grover an amused look. "Wise Girl not knowing?" He exclaimed sarcastically. "Never!"
"Percy!" Annabeth yelled as she kicked his shin under the table separating their seats.
"Hey, hey, let's not fight." Grover encouraged as he tried to keep the peace between the feuding demigods.
"Any idea, G-Man?" Percy asked. His electric gaze was on Annabeth's piercing grey eyes as he waited for Grover's answer.
"Sorry, Perce." He bleated dejectedly.
Percy patted his shoulder and shot him a pained smile. "We'll figure it out." He didn't know whether he was convincing his quest-mates or himself but all he knew was that for some reason his father wanted him to go to Santa-Monica.
Annabeth hummed in thought as her lithe fingers tapped the table. Sometimes Percy forgot that she too, had ADHD given how well she masked it. "Did the Nereid tell you anything else?"
Percy rolled his eyes. "For the last time, Wise Girl, she gave me some pearls and told me to go to Santa Monica and to not accept gifts." He repeated annoyed.
"Wait… what pearls?" She inquired, as her intimidating gaze threatened the tired son of Poseidon. "You didn't mention those before." She continued accusingly.
"I don't know." Percy shrugged in exasperation. "She said they were blessed by my father and would take me home." Percy looked to Grover for some moral support but he cowered at the daughter of Athena.
"It would've been helpful if you told us this earlier." She hissed, clenching her fists.
"Well I'm sorry." He retorted, moving forward in his seat. "I forgot after the mind-blowing blowjob she gave me, ok?" Percy continued as his temper flared.
Annabeth stared at him and spluttered. "Wha- we did not need to know that!" She exclaimed as she recoiled in shock.
"So?" Percy complained, "It's not a big deal." He continued noncoherently.
"Not a big deal?" She screeched. "When we were supposed to be on our quest to save the gods damned world you were busy getting sucked off when Grover and I thought you were dead!" She ranted.
"Jeez, Wise Girl, you need to get laid." Percy shot back as he defended himself from Annabeth's judgement.
All he remembered happening was stinging sensation and the sharp sound of a slap, followed by Annabeth's story expression. The daughter of Athena stormed off from her two quest mates as Grover just sat frozen with his face devoid of colours.
"She slapped me." He exclaimed in shock.
Percy and Grover sat in a heavy silence as they processed what happened. But if there was one thing Percy knew for sure, it was that Annabeth did need to get laid pronto.
The fresh air and sunlight were refreshing as Percy stretched in the crisp Denver air. Somehow, they had managed to get the rest of their train ride without any monster incidents, aside from Annabeth's fury. He had even managed to have a dreamless sleep which shocked him more than Annabeth's judgement.
Luckily for Grover, being stuck between the two's constant bickering, their sleep seemed to bring Percy and Annabeth back to their senses. They had stopped bickering and had just resorted to standing either side of Grover. Percy didn't really mind- it have him the occasional chance to grab a look at Annabeth in her Camp Half-Blood uniform and he would never complain at that.
"I haven't eaten since Kansas." Grover moaned as they left the train station and lumbered into Denver.
If on queue, Percy's stomach rumbled in agreement.
"We better go to a diner or something." Percy concluded, hoping Annabeth wouldn't fight him on this.
Annabeth nodded, her blonde curls bouncing in the gentle breeze. "We better call Camp real quick while we still have a chance, then food." She commanded, before heading to a Do-It-Yourself Carwash.
"Uh, Wise Girl… why are we going to a car wash?" He called out as the determined daughter of Athena marched forwards, Grover tailing her. "Won't phones alert every monster in Denver that we're here?"
He was left standing on the sidewalk without an answer, and had to sprint to catch back up with the pair.
Percy continued to look confused as Annabeth slipped a few coins into the worn down spray hose at the car wash. The machine made a worrying grinding noise before a jet of water burst from the nozzle covering them in water and a nice rainbow.
"We're gonna Iris message them, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth explained as if it was the most simple thing ever.
Percy stood still and unmoving. "Uh-" He began before the fiery blonde cut him off.
"The goddess of the Rainbow, Iris, carries messages for the gods." She explained slowly. "If you know how to ask, and she's not too busy, she'll do the same for half-bloods."
Percy nodded his head to her explanation only because he didn't want to be called stupid again. He had already copped enough abuse from Annabeth on this quest to last him a lifetime.
"Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow, please accept my offering. Show me Luke Castellan, at Camp Half-Blood" Annabeth spoke clearly, tossing a glittering golden drachma into the mist.
To his surprise, the drachma disappeared in a little pop and the rainbow created by the mist was replaced by the image of a familiar Luke Castellan.
"Annabeth!" Luke called out cheerily as he noticed the call. "Long time no see, how's the quest?" He continued, smirking at the trio with his signature Hermes grin.
Annabeth flushed red at Luke's words and Percy waved to the Hermes counsellor. "Hey Luke, not bad." Percy replied with Annabeth seemingly too embarrassed to speak.
"You looking for Chiron?" Luke asked, "And are you in a car wash?" he continued scrunching his nose in confusion.
"We had to make do." Grover offered awkwardly.
Nodding as if his original question was answered, Luke continued. "Chiron's busy with the campers, what can I do for you three?"
"We just wanted to let you know how the quest was going." Percy shrugged and turned to Annabeth for guidance.
"How's everything in camp?" Annabeth finally spoke up.
Luke's face went dark as he heard her question. "Not good, Annie. Not good at all." He started. Percy was surprised Annabeth didn't strangle Luke through the rainbow for calling him Annie, but he just continued speaking. "Things are getting tense. Cabins are picking sides."
Annabeth nodded as if she expected the answer.
It took Percy a second to register what they were talking about, but once he did, his chest felt tight. It made him realize truly what was at stake if they couldn't retrieve the Master Bolt and stop the war between his father and Zeus.
"Aphrodite, Ares, and Apollo are backing Poseidon, more or less. Athena is backing Zeus." Luke summarized. Percy felt that he was leaving a lot out and couldn't help but notice the bruise on Luke's cheekbone. It looked like things at camp were getting violent.
Percy cringed. "That's… not good." He surmised.
"We still don't know who stole the bolt, only that we have to go to Santa Monica." Annabeth begun.
"Oh shit." Luke grimaced.
"What's wrong with Santa Monica?" Percy interrupted, feeling his frustration brew at the lack of straight answers.
Luke hesitated before answering. "It's not far from the entrance to the Underworld." He stated.
"You don't think…" Grover began before the water pressure started to sputter.
"Look, Percy. It's gotta be Hades who stole the bolt. You gotta trust me-" He continued as the water finally ran out and the message was stopped.
"Shit." Percy stated.
Grover could only nod while Annabeth looked to be deep in thought.
Percy's stomach rumbled once more snapping the trio out of their daze and they exited the car wash processing their next move.
The mention of the Lord of the Underworld took the wind out of the questers' sails. Literally. Just the mention of his name dropped the temperature a few degrees and caused an eerie stillness.
Percy hoped a good meal would set them back on track but he had a nagging feeling in his gut that something very bad was about to happen.
They slipped into the next dinner they saw- the allure of the smell of burgers and flashing neon lights proved too much for the hungry adults to handle as they were drawn to the smell like moths to a lamp.
Grover took a deep breath as they entered and a look of pure bliss took over his usual look of nervousness. Percy had to agree, he was starving and looking forward to his first meal since dinner the night before. And if there was one thing he knew, was that greasy diner food would do him a lot of good.
The diner wasn't busy by any stretch of the imagination, with the time being only mid-afternoon. But the lack of noise unsettled Percy as they slid into the closest booth and relaxed onto the soft cushioning.
In what seemed like the blink of an eye, a gorgeous blonde waitress was standing at the end of their table with a stack of menu's.
"What will it be, handsome?" She cooed as her eyes hungrily ate Percy. She subtly thrusted her chest towards him and he couldn't help but feel the familiar bulge growing in his pants.
"Three cheeseburgers, a chocolate milkshake, and two vanilla milkshakes." Annabeth rudely growled as she shoved the menu's back into the surprised woman's arms.
She walked back in shock, not before giving Percy a view as she swung her hips back to the counter. "What the Hades was that about?" Percy growled.
"She was coming onto you!" Annabeth hissed back, her eyes narrowed.
"So?" Percy shot back. "Nothing wrong with that. I'm a damn grown man." He continued.
Grover could only bleat softly and hide his face in his hands as the two headstrong demigods fought once more.
Annabeth looked ready to respond and strangle Percy but was cut off by the roar of an engine. It had to be the loudest motorbike Percy had ever heard. The questers glanced out of the window to see a massive Harley stop in front of the diner and one of the buffest guys they had ever witnessed dismounted and walked towards them.
He was clad in leather, with boots adorned in spikes and battle-scared sunglasses. Something about him just felt aggressive to the demigods.
If they thought it was quiet when they first entered the diner, they were in for a shock. Every conversation abruptly stopped and all eyes were on the door as it swung open. Through the tight opened lumbered the biker. Up close he looked even meaner. He was covered in scars and radiated a hatred Percy couldn't help but feel was familiar.
The same waiter that had tried to impress Percy tried to usher the man to a booth but he rudely waved her off before locking eyes with Percy. It was like he was staring into the sun and the man's sunglasses did nothing.
He squeezed next to Percy, shoving him against the greasy wall grunting as he did so. "Punks." He grunted, waving his hand.
All of the life in the diner all of a sudden came back to life and the waitress rushed over with their food.
"Do I know you?" Percy asked, feeling an intense anger at this stranger barging his way into their booth.
The man laughed. It was a twisted laugh and sent shivers down their spines. "Just like old Barnacle Beard." He hollered as he slammed the table. He took off his glasses and stared back at Percy. There was nothing behind his sunglasses but a harsh light. It was as if there were miniature suns in his head.
"Any guesses?" Growled as he poked Percy's chest threateningly.
Annabeth gulped. "Ares. God of War." She signed as she tentatively touched her food. Her appetite was rapidly dwindling being near the war god.
The biker smiled. Percy felt even more creeped out and angry as he did so.
"Damn right, brat." He growled. "I hear you three are in need of help."
Percy looked at Annabeth before answering. "Nope, not really." He rudely replied.
The supernovas in the man's eyes erupted and burnt through the lens of his sunglasses as he processed his response. "Listen here, punk. When a good offers you help, you take it." He sneered through gritted teeth.
Percy's senses were on fire as his fight or flight instincts kicked in. "What do you need us to do, Lord Ares." Annabeth murmured.
"See?" He bellowed. "Finally some manners from the spawn of Owl Brain."
Annabeth's eyes narrowed at the insult to her mother and fists clenched but she kept her cool, which was more than could be said for Percy. Grover, however, was simply melting into the booth trying not to be noticed.
"A lady friend and myself were on a date and we were… interrupted." He stated slowly, thinking of the right words. "In the rush, I left behind my shield. I want it back."
"Why don't you get it back yourself?" Percy countered as he felt the familiar anger bubble up.
He gulped as he saw a golden glow building within the man, yet he couldn't help himself. Something about Ares made him irrationally mad.
"You punks are gonna get my shield, and I'll graciously help you with your quest." He explained through gritted teeth.
"A shame too." He mumbled, "A war between Zeus and Barnacle Beard would be oh so fun."
Annabeth locked eyes with Percy as they considered their next words. Wisely, Annabeth took the lead.
"We will return your shield, Lord Ares." She responded shakily.
Once more, Ares's smile was unsettling. "It's at a run-down waterpark not far away. Return it and I'll get you a ride to LA."
Percy wanted to hit him with a snide remark but the mad simply rose, knocking the table in the process, and stormed out of the diner and roared out onto the deserted stretch of road.
"I think I just wet myself." Whimpered Grover.
"I can't believe we have to get some stupid shield for Ares." Percy companied as the three trekked down the deserted road to what they hoped was the abandoned waterpark.
"Because when a god tells you to do something, you do it you Seaweed Brain." Annabeth seethed.
Percy sensed he had made a mistake as Annabeth set off onto a rant at his expense.
"I mean, do you want to get us killed? Do you?" She screamed. "Well that is how you get us killed."
"Jeez, calm down Wise Girl." Percy muttered as he kicked a lump of asphalt.
"No! You do not tell me to calm down when you do something so- so- so idiotic." She exclaimed fighting back tears.
Percy remained silent. He had never sent he stoic daughter of Athena so close to a breakdown it caught him off guard.
"I'm sorry." He murmured as they continued their journey giving Grover and Annabeth some space to cool off.
In the distance Percy saw a distinctive blue and yellow sign exclaiming 'Waterland'. He breathed a silent sigh of relief. The awkwardness was killing him.
Annabeth looked up, her normally fierce grey eyes were slightly puffy and red. She wiped her nose and stormed ahead, head held high, leaving the two men to follow in her wake.
Grover didn't dare look Percy in the eyes as he trotted past him, but for now they had to get that shield- one problem at a time.
As they reached a rusty chain-link gate, Percy finally noticed how late it was getting. The sun was now setting below the horizon and the chill of night was quickly approaching. Percy spied the lock on the gate, but chose to ignore it by climbing over.
The rickety fence was no match for the trio of demigods. It was nothing compared to the terror of scaling Camp's lava covered rock climbing wall. Percy gave Grover a hand and hauled him over. Hooves were good for mountains, but not fences he concluded.
"This place is freaking me out." Grover shivered as a gust of wind shit through the maze of buildings and rides.
"Yeah, major freaky vibes." Percy agreed as he tentatively entered the labyrinth of stalls.
"What are we looking for, exactly?" Percy asked, hoping for a simple answer for once.
"Ares' shield." Annabeth answered bluntly.
"Well no shit, Wise Girl, but where." He pleaded with the still pissed daughter of Athena.
"I don't know." She admitted as her eyes scanned the waterpark.
"G-Man, can you smell it or something?" Percy begged, hoping he could save them from searching a creepy abandoned waterpark at night.
"Sorry, Perce." Grover bleated. "My senses are still overloaded from the big ba S." He spelt out fearfully.
Percy patted the loyal satyr on the shoulder as they headed further in search for the godly shield.
Annabeth held her arm out and pointed to an ordinary looking building. "Gift shop." She motioned forward.
Rolling her eyes at the men's silence she elaborated. "We can finally get some knew clothes. You really need it." She emphasize pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Hey!" Percy cried as he followed her into the gift shop in search of a new wardrobe. Deep down he knew she was right.
If he thought it was creepy outside then Percy didn't even know how to begin explaining how he felt entering the unlit and decaying giftshop. He was so thankful celestial bronze emitted a slight glow or else he'd have to feel his way around and try not to have a heart attack.
His spirits soon dropped as he saw what remained on the shelves- the tackiest merch he could find. Bright blue and yellow Hawaiian shirts and board shorts covered in 'Waterland' branding. He shivered at the thought of being seen in public like this but admitted it needed to be done.
"You two wait out here." Annabeth's commanding voice broke the eerie silence of the store.
She had a handful of clothing bunched up in her arms as she walked over to the fitting rooms.
As he heard the curtain room closing he couldn't help but creep forward in curiosity. He looked around but Grover was busy eating the sandals on the far side of the store.
Hearing the rustling of clothes, Percy held riptide Infront of him to get a better view of his surroundings.
What he saw shocked him more than anything- Annabeth had only closed the fitting room's curtain halfway. What he saw was better than anything he could imagine. The demigoddess had hung her dimly glowing dagger on one of the hooks on the wall and it illuminated her in the softest glow. Every inch of her skin seemed to glow and ethereal bronze.
Percy couldn't take his eyes of her. Annabeth frustratingly removed her tight orange Camp shirt and chucked it onto the floor with her new clothing haul. Even in a sports bra she was the most perfect woman Percy had ever seen.
Her breasts bulged against the fabric as they struggled to contain the double D's. As she unbuckled her tight jean shorts and slipped them down to her ankles, Percy was in the best position to get a view of Annabeth bent over. Her grey panties barely covered her behind as she hummed softly.
Next to go were her panties. Percy was slowly inching closer and closer to the undressing half-blood but to his dismay her dagger fell from its spot on the wall, its light no longer illuminating Annabeth's divine form.
Percy held a groan as he no longer saw Annabeth's nude body, but for now, he had seen more than enough to drive his libido into overdrive.
It took a little over half an hour for the trio of questers to leave the gift shop kitted out in their swanky new attire advertising the now defunct waterpark. Percy squirmed in the swimwear as he hoped the baggy board shorts were enough to hide his growing boner.
"Where to now, Captain?" He saluted Annabeth as she sighed.
"You are unbelievable." She muttered as she continued into the darkness of the waterpark.
Grover was looking fearful, flinching at every sound. Percy felt bad for his best friend but couldn't blame him. It was dark, spooky, and dangerous. Whatever was enough to scare away Ares was enough to put him on edge.
"Hey, guys! Over here." Annabeth shouted from just ahead. "I think I've found it."
Percy and Grover sprinted towards her only to be confronted by a big empty pool and a sign they could barely read as 'The Tunnel of Love'. At the bottom of the big concrete bowl was a raft with a shield glowing dimly in the evening. Percy swore it was the same type he had seen in the movie '300'.
"Well that was easy." He clapped his hands together and beamed a smile.
"Never say that." Annabeth groaned as the three looked down into the pool wearily.
"Well, there it is." The son of Poseidon motioned nonchalantly.
"Who's gonna get it?" Grover asked.
Percy looked at Annabeth and she rolled her eyes as the two young adults clambered over the edge and warily made their way to the raft.
"I told you it was easy, Wise Girl." He smirked triumphantly as he hefted the shield. "One Ares shield coming right up." He bowed dramatically.
"We still need to get out of here, let's go." She urged him, feeling as if something wasn't quite right.
As Percy stood up in the raft a pink scarf under where the shield had sat had caught his eye.
"What's this?" He asked as he picked up the delicate and soft fabric.
Almost instantly the aroma coming from the scarf took over his mind as he took a deep breath. Annabeth turned around, and seeing the strange scarf, furrowed her brows.
"Gimme that." She snapped as she began to inspect to scarf. Her delicate fingers ran along the fabric and she too could feel the air get hotter. Annabeth could have sworn the scarf was glowing a soft shade of pink but she shook her head. It must have been the nerves, she decided.
Percy moved closer, desperate to inspect the scarf once more. He felt arousal slowly take over himself and he touched the scarf in Annabeth's hands, brushing over her soft fingers.
She yanked it back towards herself to keep Percy away from it, causing him to fall towards. Both the demigods found themselves on the ground of the raft, Percy above Annabeth, and breathing heavily. The scarfs magic had begun to take its effect om the two demigods.
"Annabeth." Percy murmured as he felt his body lay on top of hers, savoring the warmth.
"Percy." She whispered in response. She brought the scarf towards her nose once more and took another breath. She was hooked. Whatever it was had made her feel like she had never felt before.
She felt her panties moisten a her breathing faltered. In the moonlight Percy's face looked chiseled and handsome. She moved her hands to cup his cheek as Percy leaned towards her.
The aroma of the scarf had driven the half-bloods into overdrive as Percy leant in for a kiss. Annabeth hastily accept and yanked Percy closer onto her. The son of Poseidon happily leant into the kiss as he devoured the daughter of Athena.
It was like no kiss he had felt before. In no time their tongues were battling for dominance and his hand slipped underneath her new bikini bra. Her breathing faltered as she bit her lip, inviting Percy further.
His hands brushed her breast and nipple as Annabeth continued to fight for dominance, causing both the adults to moan in passion. Annabeth moved her attention to Percy's neck as she trailed kisses down it and slipped her hand down his shirt.
Her delicate hands slid down his toned chest and towards his abs. His breath hitched as she went further.
Unable to hold himself back anymore, Percy imitated Annabeth's advances and traced his calloused fingers down her stomach and slid into her now damp panties. His fingers trailed down her womanhood and rested on her sensitive clit. He rubbed soft and slow circles and Annabeth arched her back in pleasure.
"Percy." She purred as her hand went further and roughly grabbed his hardening cock.
"Annabeth." He grunted as her cold hands slid up and down his shaft.
In heaven, Percy went further and toyed with her entrance, his finger teasing Annabeth. She cried and moaned for more. Annabeth's slow rhythm sent shockwaves through his body and he leaned into her and kissed her once more.
As his fingers finally reached her entrance and readied themselves to enter, the floodlights went on and a loud timer had begun.
The two demigods shot up and looked like deer in headlights. Percy looked at Annabeth's body pinned beneath his and then down to her hand on his pulsing shaft, and back to her startled face.
They separated from each other with looks of fear.
Annabeth then looked down to the scarf and threw it overboard.
"Broadcasting to Olympus. Ten Seconds." A metallic voice announced over a loud speaker.
"Oh shit." Percy yelled as he dropped the shield and pulled up his board shorts.
"Annabeth, I-"
"No time." She snapped as she readjusted her clothing before gulping. "I think I know why Ares ran from this place."
Percy looked at her waiting for an answer as the countdown reached zero.
"Broadcasting to Olympus. Enjoy." The voice continued as he noticed the army of bronze cherups around the ring of the pool shoot arrows at each other, forming a softly glowing net, trapping them in.
"He was on a date with Aphrodite and Hephaestus caught them." Annabeth gasped, her eyes wide.
"And now we've been caught in their trap…" Percy surmised as he tried to get his breathing under control after he and Annabeth had been so close to losing themselves to their carnal desires.
"So this is being broadcast to Olympus?" Percy questioned looking around wide-eyed.
"No shit, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth screamed as she distanced herself from his body.
"How much did they see?" He gasped, but she didn't respond.
He knew they had to get out of her, and fast.
Suddenly through the gargantuan waterpipe to the side of the pool a clattering sound rang out and in an instant an army of gleaming bronze automatons started to fill the pool.
"Are those-?"
"Spiders!" Annabeth shrieked.
As if on autopilot, Percy called on his gut to bring a wave of water to get them away from the spiders and cameras. The pipes creaked this time and he felt a familiar pull. Water exploded from the pipe and started to fill the once empty pool and now sea of spiders.
Percy steadied himself on Annabeth's shoulder as the raft began to float from the bottom of the pool. He tried to ignore that feeling or electivity he felt when they touched. Survival came first.
He joined Annabeth in skewering the bronze spiders that were threatening to take them down into the freezing waters as he felt the raft began to drift towards the pitch black tunnel of love. Great, Percy thought.
The boat began to pick up speed as Annabeth huddled close to him, still deathly afraid from her run in with the automaton spiders.
"How do we get out of here, Wise Girl." Percy yelled, hoping to be heard over the roaring rapids.
"Annabeth?" He repeated as he shook her.
Her familiar grey eyes snapped back to reality and a look of determination and regret shot across her face as she thought of a way out of this.
Percy looked forward and saw a small patch of light at the end of the tunnel approaching rapidly.
"Earth to Wise Girl. We're about to be smashed to bits if you don't think of something fast." Percy begged as he struggled to maintain his balance.
The closer they got to the light the more Percy could make out- a padlocked metal gate spanning the canal. He gulped.
Annabeth was still formulating a plan before she griped his bicep. "Ok, I know what to do. Jump when I say jump."
"Uh… Wise Girl?" Percy questioned with a look of confusion.
"Just do it!" She shot him a glare. "On three.'
Percy nodded and gripped her arm.
"One…. Two… three!" She screamed as the two jumped, using the impact with the heavy gate to propel themselves out of the pool and onto the hard and grimy concrete on the other side.
"Ouch, my back." Percy complained as Annabeth scrambled to her feet and shuffling away from him.
Using the shield to steady himself, Percy eventually scrambled to his feet only to see Grover trotting towards them.
"At least we have the shield?" Percy offered to Annabeth, only to be punched in the face by the furious daughter of Athena.
As the weary trio reached the trailer, Annabeth, still wrapped up in a 'Waterland' branded beach towel, pointed to the diner. "He's here."
Percy looked over to where she was pointing and grimaced. He saw the massive Harley Ares had rode in on and through the window could see his muscle-bound figure. Even being near him was making him angry.
Storming into the diner, Percy slammed the shield onto the table. "Here's your shield, asshole." He grimaced through gritted teeth.
Ares eyed him with amusement. "A deals a deal." He shrugged as he click his fingers. A backpack appeared on the table and the war god went to stand. "Some provisions to help you on your way, and transport as far as Vegas." He grunted.
"You said LA!" Percy barked.
Areas shrugged and motioned out the window. "Take it or leave it- that truck leaves for Vegas in five."
Percy looked at Annabeth and Grover and nodded as they began to leave, snatching the backpack.
"And punk." Ares snarled, grabbing Percy's arm in a vice grip, "you better learn some respect or next time I won't be so charitable."
Authors Note: Apologies for how long it take for this chapter to come out. I don't even think I have my writing mojo back yet. Apologizes for the lack of grammar and spelling checking- that'll have to wait.
Don't worry, next chapter will have the Lotus Casino so that calls for some smut ;)
