I'm sorry this is so short, but I wanted to get something published. I'm trying to come up with more ideas, but almost all of mine are tied to my crossover fanfic I'm trying to write and I don't really want to repeat storylines, but I got nothing. Anyone have any? Please let me know. If you want to bounce ideas with me, then please feel free to message me. I could use all the ideas I can get. I'm trying not to make every single story of mine ending up as a crossover with the same characters, storylines and couples even though I'd love to make every single one of them into a crossover with the same tv shows and couples.
He had the same expression he always had, but this one seemed more intense and comforting. Kol raised an eyebrow, smirking to himself at the way his undaggered oldest brother looked at the doppelgänger. Oh, he was so going to tease him mercilessly later on.
"Thank you for letting me stay here even though," she turned to Rebekah and Klaus before looking back at him. "I've had enough of Klaus to last me a lifetime." She replied. "I'd rather deal with Rebekah than him any day."
"Haven't we all?" Kol mumbled under his breath and received a glare in return. The other siblings stared back before Elijah turned back to Elena. Rebekah noticed as well and would try to talk to him about it later, but her brother could be extremely stubborn when he feels something and doesn't want to admit it. He's perfected the blank expression over the centuries, but Elena seems to bring out his emotions without him even realizing it.
"Besides, I can take care of myself even though it's nice to have someone ask my opinions instead of deciding for me. Remember when we first met? I think I proved it after you asked what game I was playing with you." She smirked, laughing lightly as everyone else looked confused as hell.
"It might have been fun for you, but not for me."
"You're just upset that a 17 year old doppelganger challenged and outsmarted you twice within minutes." She teased him, emphasizing twice.
"Whatever you say." He rolled his eyes when he was actually amazed at the time-pissed, but amazed-and she still continues to do so to this day. "My mother is after you, not them. Besides, she is a witch. Good luck trying to outsmart her." Elijah said.
"I wouldn't put it past her to use Ric and Jeremy against me just so I'll be forced into giving her my blood for the spell." Elena replied. "The only way I got out of there was because I told her that it's been a long day and I needed to go home."
Rebekah and Kol smirked as they watched the two of them before sharing a knowing look. Elijah's definitely fallen for the modern doppelganger. The problem is, he'd never admit it to anyone and they were both worried about it ending in heartbreak for their brother; He's already had plenty of it from Tatia's death by their mother who literally had said first Doppelganger's blood on her hands and the two Original siblings didn't want the same to happen to Elena. Tatia's death almost destroyed Elijah and if Elena died, Elijah would never be the same again and wouldn't even try to hide his anger which is secretly worse than his brother's. Rebekah and Kol's smirk turned into a look of deep worry as Elijah and Elena left the mansion and went out to the car, Both of them saw Elena briefly turning around before continuing to walk to the car with Elijah next to her.
"I'm sorry I couldn't get there before Rebekah slammed you against the car."
"Elijah, it's fine. Stop apologizing. Besides, I think part of it was me being a doppelganger that pisses her off since I look like Katherine who manipulates everyone and Tatia."
"I don't see you as a doppelgänger. You have Katherine and Tatia's physical appearance, but you don't have Katherine's attitude and behavior. You don't play with anyone's emotions, you're honest and you care about your friends and family." He said, looking at her before they drove off.
"What about Tatia?" She asked, curious, looking out the window.
"Neither of you believe in fate and you both have guys wanting to be with you. For her, all men her age wanted her and for you, it's the Salvatores. No one can resist your kindness. Hers is what drew me to her in the first place and you have the same compassion she did." He said and she caught what he was implying, but ignored it since she believed that he didn't even realize what he indirectly told her without meaning to. "You both fought for what you believe in and didn't let it stop you no matter what people said. She was fated to throw herself on a pyre after her husband died in battle because everyone believed she would. She surprised everyone when she chose to live and surprised me when she decided me over my brother. One of the few times anyone has caught me off guard along with you of course since you managed to surprise me several times since we met." She turned to him, smirking.
"Vervain bomb in your face and being bold enough to negotiate with you minutes after meeting." She raised an eyebrow.
"It's fine. You wouldn't have done it otherwise. Smart move, by the way, surprising and smart." He smiled at her.
"I have an idea, but I don't know if you'll like it." She said. "I do want to talk it over with the others first though since Klaus won't be too happy about it."
They went to the Grill and Elena ordered her food while Elijah ordered himself a drink. About 10 minutes later, they walked back into the mansion.
"Don't even bother objecting, brother." Elijah looked at the hybrid with an intense gaze. "This is the only way to keep her safe for the moment. I know that you'd rather have her as a blood bag than dead." He glared.
"I wasn't going to say anything, but you're right about her being safe with you." Klaus said before he went to his room.
Rebekah followed Elijah to his study and shut the door, which is pointless in a mansion with vampires, but it didn't matter. "You have feelings for her." She stated. "Kol and I both noticed just by the way you looked at her, which is the same way you used to look at Tatia." Elijah looked away at the mention of his first love who was also the first love of Klaus.
"What gave you that idea besides that one moment?" He asked, dodging the question. He might have admitted to a sleeping Elena that he's in love with her, but he's not about to admit it to anyone else since he's always one for privacy even before his family had gained thousands of enemies over the centuries. It's not that he didn't necessarily trust Rebekah to keep it to herself because he did, but he also knew how much Rebekah despised Elena and that was saying a lot since she also despises Katherine on a lot larger scale. Any of their enemies wouldn't hesitate on using Elena against him if they knew about the connection they had and that was something he wasn't willing to deal with, but he didn't really have a choice since she's already involved in the supernatural life and has been around him several times. He didn't know whether to push her away to keep himself from possibly losing her or keeping her close to protect her.
"Uh, it's every moment since you two met." Rebekah smirked as she saw every moment he had with the doppelgänger that went through his mind.
"Rebekah-" He said, but was cut off because of her glaring at him.
"Don't even try and deny it, Elijah. I can tell and I bet the others could too if Nik wasn't so in love with Caroline."
"Who said I was?" Klaus asked from the doorway.
"I did because you are just like Elijah over here." Rebekah smirked. "You two need to get the bloody hell out of your own way and make a move or you will lose them." She turned back to Elijah.
"Why do you think that?" He asked, curious.
"You let Nik and I get whatever we want, you've never let anyone off the hook for betraying you and/or the rest of us, you've never shown worry over anyone except us, never let anyone negotiate with you or throw a vervain bomb in your face nor betray any and/or all of us without consequences and you've NEVER used our family's sacred vow on an outsider." She replied. "You may not have said it to her, but I can tell you're feelings for Elena are stronger than anyone else you've shown interest in."
"Your point?" He raised an eyebrow.
"All of a sudden that changes when you meet Elena? You kept her away from Nik, protected her against me, still cared and trusted her after everything she's done and let her live?"
"She's a good ally." He replied. "There's nothing to admit." He replied. "Why do you care anyways?"
"Uh, maybe because you haven't really been with anyone serious since you were human." She replied with a frown. "You've been so focused on keeping all of us together and eventually getting Nik's redemption, you've seriously been putting your own happiness aside. Come on, Elijah. You've never let anyone get close to you since Tatia, but Elena changed that 1,000 years later. You're in love with her."
"I never said I was."
"You didn't have to. The first time you saw her?"
"I thought she was Katerina."
"When you looked at her in the car as she was defending you against her exes?"
"I didn't expect her to do that since we hardly knew each other at that time."
"When you told her you'd never fall for another Petrova doppelgänger again and then left right after?"
"We needed to tell them that we'd renewed the terms of our deal."
"After the ball when you found out the truth?"
"She was protecting her loved ones from Niklaus."
"Lake house?"
"She stabbed herself and I didn't expect she'd do it to me."
"You kept her away from Nik for as long as you could and also protected her against me when I attacked her?"
"Because I knew Niklaus would have wanted her dead when she wasn't of use to him anymore and you would have killed her which would have pissed him off and I'd have to clean up the mess he'd make."
"The way you looked at her when you were talking about her compassion not long after you admitted you knew she wasn't Katherine."
"She reminded me of qualities I valued long before we were turned."
"The family sacred vow in the letter you wrote and never gave to her?"
"I wanted her to know I'd be there if she needed me."
"Tatia's death almost destroyed you-"
"Thanks for that painful reminder."
"but you've been able to live without her. Final question. Can you say the same thing about Elena if she died?" Rebekah asked, more serious than ever, while her brother vamped out at the thought of Elena dying or being hurt, before she walked out. Elijah was never one to show his emotions at all, but the thought of that happening was enough for him to lose control of his vampire side and emotions that he's worked hard to control over the decades and centuries. Once Elijah calmed down, he went to see how Elena was doing. He knocked and she invited him in.
"Just wanted to make sure you're comfortable." He said, looking at her like he always had with an intense gaze that always made her feel more alive compared to Stefan and even Matt when she dated them.
"Of course. Thanks." She smiled at him, knowing that he's going to be closest to her since they are allies and dare she say almost friends due to their mutual understanding of each other.
"You said you had an idea and wanted to talk to my brother first." Elijah said, wondering what it was.
"Yes." She went downstairs and they all walked into the living room. "I was thinking I could give Klaus one last blood donation before I turn. I'd be useless to Esther and I'd be able to defend myself more." She snuck a glance at him, seeing the same thoughtful expression from when they were in the car as she talked to Stefan before she looked around the room at the others. Klaus was shocked, Rebekah had a grimace and Kol was smirking. "Also, the same conditions as before with no harm to my friends or family."
"I thought you said you didn't want to be a vampire." Rebekah stated, torn between wanting Elijah to be happy and hating Elena which is slowly decreasing the more she sees the brunette around him.
"I didn't, but I don't exactly have a choice. It's either this or run from Mystic Falls which I'd never do since my family and friends are here and Esther would catch me no matter where I went because she has magic to find me that I don't have to protect myself. Transitioning would be better than her killing me." Elena said as Rebekah turned to Elijah who looked away at the thought of that went through his head again. He hated it just as much or maybe even more as he hated Esther and Mikael.
"Anything else?" Kol asked, raising an eyebrow.
Elena turned to Elijah. "I want you to turn me."
He looked at her with a surprised expression.
