Kagome feared secrets. She felt them as a dark energy that slowly wraps around people and their surroundings, until all is entangled in their web. Secrets consume beauty; nothing can flourish between them. Love suffocates in their gloom.
"What happened? Why weren't you in the cabin?"
For Kagome, that desire for answers was joined with a yearning to forget, and of reaching a safe place. Even so, she felt cold despite the safety with which InuYasha held her in his arms.
"Where were you?" She asked, and sought that gaze that she knew, and that would never lie to her.
"It doesn't matter. Let's go."
Kagome discovered then, in the depth of his eyes, that InuYasha was keeping a secret.
