Chapter One

It's been a month since Laural had found young Nightshade. She has finally gotten the Dragon Society of her hometown to do stable inspections a week ago, and they are urging her to reach out to Berk.

"It would be nice for young Nightshade to have an adult Nightfury in her life." Laural's mom said.
"I agree with you're mother." Her father responded.

"Alright, I'll reach out to Chief Stoick Tonight, besides, maybe Hiccup went through the same things I'm dealing with in Nightshade."
"All the more reason to reach out." Her mom agreed.

The family finished their dinner in silence. Laural got up and cleaned up her place at the table. "Thanks for dinner, mom."
"You're welcome, baby."

An hour later, Laural had reached out to Hiccup, Stoick, and Astrid. She wondered if they were anything like they were in the shows and movies she had grown up watching.

She had watched the movies with Nightshade, and the little dragon had instantly idolized Toothless.

"Hey, Nightshade, guess who we are going to meet?" The little dragon perked up in curiosity. "We're going to Berk to meet Toothless. We leave in a few days."
Nightshade almost ran outside to the family stables. "Easy Nightshade, we need time to pack, and to give Chief Stoick some time to prepare and get his people ready for a new Nightfury, and Hiccup needs time to get a stable ready for us."
The little dragon huffed in disappointment. "I know, I'm disappointed we can't leave sooner myself. But, we have to get ready. Once I'm done packing, we can leave."

ON BERK

"Son!" Stoick called. "We need to talk about the preparations for Little Nightshade."
"Don't worry about it, dad. I've got a stable prepared for her, and an appointment made for her at Berks Dragon Society the morning after Nightshade, Laural, and her mom get here."
"I was talking about the Health issues Laural had noticed in Nightshade."
"Yeah, Separation Anxiety and Insomnia. Toothless had the same issues when I adopted him through the Dragon Society, remember dad?"

"Yes, I remember. You were extremely worried about him, and couldn't leave him for anything."
Hiccup laughed. "Yeah, I remember that. Nightshade is lucky to have fallen in the hands of someone who loves dragons as much as I do, and not some criminal looking for a quick buck."

"Yes, she is. Laural is also lucky to have such a strong support system, Oh, and Laural said that her mom rides a nadder, Blue and green in coloring."
"I'll tell the council to keep an eye out."
"No need, Laural said she'd let me know when she was a mile out."
"Good, does Laural know how long she'll be staying? Or if she intends to move to Berk?"

"She only intends to stay in Berk until Nightshade is able to fly long distances on her own. So, with my experiences with Toothless, that'll be about a year and a half."
"Very well then. I will talk to a few folks who might be willing to house her for a long period of time."
"She also mentioned that if Nightshade chose to stay in Berk, she'd aim for Citizenship, and look into permanent housing."

WITH LAURAL, NIGHTSHADE, AND LAURAL'S MOM

"Are you ready dear? This is a huge step in helping Nightshade." My mom asked.

"I'm as ready as I can be. I'm excited about Nightshade having an adult Nightfury in her life, and I'm excited about seeing Berk in real life."

"I can imagine you are. Do you have everything you need?"
"Yep, I've got Nightshade's comfort items, her dragon nip, and I'm sure I can find her food in Berk."

"Alright, if you need anything let me know. Since mail doesn't run to Berk I'll bring anything you run out of."
"I will Mom."
The two women, plus the dragon hatchling hopped onto the nadders back. And begin their flight to Berk.
