Author's note: This wasn't an easy part to write, which is why this comes with such a delay for which I apologise. I'm still not entirely sure about this chapter, but there is only so much rewriting and staring at the screen that I can do, so ... I hope it isn't too awful!

Part 3
Harry sat back with a sigh when Ginny's irate face disappeared, leaving only Hermione's heavily apologetic face behind.
"I'm sorry, I didn't think she would want to start a fight again," she sighed, brushing a stray lock from her face.
He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "You really thought she would start being friendly now?" he asked sceptically.
"It's more that I was naïve enough to believe her when she said she only wanted to talk," she replied chagrined. "I should have known better."
"You kind of should have," he said wryly. "There is a reason why I arranged that she can only contact me through Owl or the Floo at my office."
She sighed again and nodded before changing the subject. "How are you feeling?"
"I hit the mark of a full two weeks of not throwing up my guts anymore, so I'm already feeling a lot better," he smiled faintly. "Hoping to keep this streak going now."
"That's good to hear. Getting used to desk work as well?" she asked amused, chortling when he scowled at her.
"You really revel in my misery, don't you?" he muttered and ran a hand through his hair.
"I wouldn't say that," she smiled. "I guess it's just nice to know that my best friend won't be risking his life in the field for a while now."
"Don't say that near Draco; he'll probably try to find a way to keep this desk work permanent," he snorted.
"He's an Auror himself," she said bemused.
"Yes, thank you, glad you're realising the hypocrisy as well!" he exclaimed, slightly exasperated.
He understood why desk work was necessary now; he wasn't about to risk his baby after all. Draco, however, seemed to believe that Harry's luck was too horrendous for field work, which was just ridiculous. Yes, so he got injured occasionally – that was all part of the job! A very unfortunate part, but a part nonetheless. It wasn't as if Draco hadn't got injured in the field either, so he had no right to talk, really.
"Hermione, is there a reason why my sister nearly hexed me on her way out?" Ron's baffled voice called from somewhere in the house, making Hermione close her eyes for a couple of seconds.
"This is going to be a fun conversation," she muttered.
"Good luck with that," Harry smiled sympathetically, smiling wider when she scoffed.
"I'll talk to you soon again," she promised and pulled out of the Floo, ending the call but not before Harry could overhear her telling Ron, "Your sister had a hissy fit, that's what happened."
Shaking his head, Harry rose up as well, stretching his legs and watching the flames turn red again. Ron hadn't exactly reacted that enthusiastic when informed about the baby, but his reaction had still been miles better than Ginny's and he still had Harry's back. He was even slowly reaching the stage where he could crack jokes, like a few days ago when he had told Harry to be the one in charge of picking the names.
To be honest, of all the people they had to inform about the baby, he had thought their kids would act the most difficult about it. It had been one thing for them to accept that their fathers were in love with each other, but it was something completely different to also be accepting of a new baby – especially given the age difference that would exist between them and the baby. He supposed they could still change their mind about it once the baby was actually born, but for now they were the most accepting about the news. Well, save for Narcissa, he guessed with a soft snort. She had apparently been over the moon when being told she would get a second grandchild.
Draco met him in the corridor when he walked outside. "How did the call go?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Hermione made the mistake of believing Ginny when she said she only wanted to talk," Harry replied and shrugged. "So it went as well as you can expect."
"Why did she want to talk to you?" Draco questioned suspiciously.
"Mostly to accuse me of doing things with you that I didn't want to do with her," Harry scoffed and started walking away, the blond man following him.
"Like having a relationship where both parties trust each other?" Draco said dryly, shrugging unrepentantly when Harry glanced at him exasperatedly.
"No, it was about the baby."
"Did she want another kid then?"
They passed a couple of house elves who were cleaning the tapestries in the corridor.
"She now claims she did, but that wasn't the case when we were married," Harry sneered. "I think at this point she just finds anything to make an argument about and this baby is the easiest subject now."
"If she keeps bothering you," Draco started, frowning, but Harry shook his head, brushing his fingers across Draco's wrist.
"It's fine. I've got experience handling her in that mood," he said dryly. "She'll give up once she realises that she's the only one making a fuss about this."
"What, did even Weasley come around?" Draco quirked an eyebrow.
"He can make jokes about it now, so I say he's coming around," Harry replied and turned around the corner, making his way back to their bedroom.
Perhaps it would be easier to have his office on the same floor as their bedroom, but he liked the room where his office was now. It had a great view of the garden and it received enough sunlight without the sunlight being able to bother him.
"Mother is thinking about visiting soon," Draco commented, nodding absently at one of the many Malfoy ancestors lounging around in a plush chair.
Harry glanced at him. "Everything is arranged with the Ministry then?"
"Yes, finally," Draco said aggrieved. "It took way too long, considering she didn't even do anything wrong, but she won't be at risk anymore once she returns."
"Does she have a date in mind?"
"With the news about the baby? I'm guessing she's packing as we're speaking," Draco said, his mood growing lighter again. "She told me she can't wait to meet her new grandsons."
Harry smiled faintly. "She really doesn't have any problems with us, hm?"
"Far from it," Draco reassured him. "Honestly, I think our biggest worry will be that she will love you all too much and won't leave you alone."
"Well, that's still a better prospect than worrying I'll be poisoned," Harry said lightly and brushed his hand across his stomach. "Let me know when she'll arrive. We're still one for flying tomorrow?" He pushed open their bedroom door where he had been about to change into some comfier wear until one of the house elves had interrupted him.
"We are, but the boys aren't," Draco said to his surprise.
Harry paused in unbuttoning his shirt. "Why?" he asked bemused. "They've got too much homework?"
Although it would be the very first time that homework would keep Albus and James on the ground.
"No, as punishment," Draco said and crossed his arms, leaning against the closed door. His smile was a bit thin when he explained, "They decided that trying to eavesdrop on your Floo call was a brilliant idea."
"How much did they hear?" Harry sighed and continued unbuttoning his shirt.
"Not much, I think," Draco replied. "They might have heard one colourful word, I guess, but I caught them before they could overhear the whole conversation. So as punishment they won't be flying this weekend."
"Guess they really inherited that curiosity from me," Harry mused and shrugged out of his shirt. It was hard to be really angry at his sons, when he knew he would have done the same thing when he was younger.
"If only they had inherited your skill for sneakiness as well, hm?" Draco smirked and came over to wrap his arms around Harry's waist, trailing his hands up and down across his back.
"I don't know, I'd say that James at the very least would have made the Marauders proud," Harry said thoughtfully. "He gets away with a lot of crap, it wouldn't surprise me if he does end up in Slytherin when he goes to Hogwarts."
"And would that be a problem?" Draco's eyes started to glimmer.
Green eyes rolled. "You know it wouldn't be. I told you before that the Sorting Hat had wanted to put me in Slytherin. Chances are at least one of my kids gets the same offer."
"I still maintain you should have said yes to the Hat's offer," Draco sniffed.
"Well, if a certain someone hadn't been such a git before," Harry retorted cheerfully.
Before Draco could reply, a knock on the door interrupted them.
"Yeah?" Harry called out curiously and pulled on the blue shirt Draco plucked from the chair.
A rather sullen looking James opened the door. He stuck out his lips in a pout when he noticed Draco, who lifted an eyebrow.
"Yes?" Draco said mildly.
"I came here to apologise to dad for eavesdropping on his call," James said begrudgingly; a light flush dusting his cheeks. "I'm sorry, dad, I shouldn't have done that."
"And the others?" Draco remarked, noticing the absence of the two youngest boys.
James shook his head. "I'm the one who started it. Albus just followed me and Scorpius was actually trying to stop us." He stared down at the floor. "We didn't listen to him."
Harry squeezed Draco's hand briefly and gave him a look. The blond man rolled his eyes up to the ceiling, but inclined his head and left the room, leaving James and Harry alone.
Harry sat down on the bed, patting the spot next to him. "How much did you hear?" he questioned resigned.
James hesitated, but came to sit next to him. "Not much," he said, which was a relief. "Just the start where mum asked why you can have a baby with Uncle Draco but not with her."
"That's more than I thought you had overheard," Harry sighed and adjusted his glasses. "Don't worry about what you've heard, okay? That's between your mum and me."
"Did you get into a fight with her again?" James might have inherited Ginny's eyes, but that piercing look was not something Ginny had ever managed to nail down.
"More like an argument," Harry replied vaguely. "Like I said, don't worry about it."
"She's not happy about the baby at all, is she?" James said knowingly, because there was no fooling him. That never had worked, not even when he'd been a lot younger. For all the pranks he could pull, James was also remarkably sharp for his age, picking up on things Harry would rather he didn't.
"She's having some issues with the news," Harry admitted, because there was no point in lying when Ginny's attitude would reveal everything. "I had expected that. She doesn't have to be happy about it."
"Maybe, but being mad at you about the baby is stupid too," James said, furrowing his eyebrows. "If Albus and I are okay with it, why can't she be?"
"It's more complicated than that, James," Harry said, but couldn't help but smile and tug James into his side, slipping an arm around his shoulders. "But I'm glad to hear you're okay with it."
The boy shrugged. "Like I said, I'm used to being a big brother already. When do you think you'll know whether it's a boy or a girl?"
"Well, the next appointment is in two weeks," Harry recalled. "The Healer will try to check whether it's possible to find out the sex then. You want to be there?"
"Sure," James replied easily. "I don't remember any appointments when mum was expecting Albus, so it'll be interesting, I think."
Warmth welling up in his chest, Harry hugged his son firmly this time. "You're going to be a great big brother to this baby as well, I know," he murmured into James' messy hair.
"I'd hope so," James huffed, but hugged him back. "I've got practice already with Albus – and now Scorpius, I guess?"
He buried his face half into Harry's neck next and muttered, "Doesn't matter what mum thinks or says. I'm happy that you're happy, dad."
The stinging behind his eyes was because he had been reading way too many reports, Harry decided and ruffled James' hair, and not because of any other silly reason.
"Did Scorpius and Albus apologise too?" Draco asked.
Night had fully fallen by now and with a swish of his wand, Harry closed the curtains before he got into bed, watching in the light of the candles how Draco changed into his pyjamas.
"They did," Harry confirmed, chuckling when Draco looked over his shoulder and winked before pulling on his shirt. "Did you put them up to it?"
"No, they decided to do it on their own," Draco replied and got into the bed as well, instantly palming Harry's belly. "Whether or not this means they actually learnt their lesson, though …"
Harry snickered and brushed some blond strands away from Draco's forehead. "I know I never did," he said lightly.
"Merlin help us if our baby inherits that awful quality of yours as well," Draco sniffed.
"I don't know, I think I ended up doing pretty well, don't you think so?" Harry mused aloud, staring up at the ceiling.
Feeling those grey eyes stare at him, he flicked his own gaze back down, taking in the intense look on Draco's face. "What?"
"You really do think so?" Draco asked out of the blue and his palm shifted to cover Harry's left side, his thumb caressing the gentle swell of his stomach. "You don't regret ending up here, with me?"
"If I did regret this, do you really think I would still be here?" Harry said unimpressed before he softened up and lifted his head to kiss Draco. "There is nothing that I regret about this. I don't regret you, I don't regret my sons, I don't regret our baby. I do regret the fights I have had and still have with Ginny, but there's nothing that I can do about that now. But you, our family? I won't ever regret that."
Those grey eyes he loved to watch, softened and started to glimmer before Draco lowered his head and their mouths found each other again. A slightly cool hand slipped underneath Harry's shirt, making him shiver a bit before he spread his legs, letting Draco slot between them.
He wished his relationship with Ginny was better, that they weren't still having arguments about the smallest of things. But this, his relationship with Draco, their growing family? He would never regret this, of that he was certain. Eventually he and Ginny would find peace again, he believed. She just needed time. In the meantime he had a whole new beginning with Draco, their sons and their baby and nothing was going to take that away from him.
As they said: when one door closed another one opened and Harry could not wait to find out where this door would lead him. Wherever it was, he would have his family and his friends on his side and that was enough for him.
The End
AN2: I'm not sure yet whether I'll return to this universe again. I might, it will depend on my muse. In the meantime I hope this last part wasn't too horrible! For the ones curious: the baby ends up being a girl, who they name Lily Narcissa to honour both her grandmothers :)
