I do not own Batman or Pokemon in any way.
A day has passed since Bruce Wayne acquired his starter Pokemon Sobble. Bruce saw that he had a lot in common with the water lizard Pokemon as it had a serious personality... much like his alter ego.
'It will take some getting used to not fighting the way I usually fight, but it's not the first time I've had to adapt to a situation I have never experienced.' thought Bruce to himself, while he was currently feeding the water lizard Pokemon some Pokemon food.
"Sob Sob!"said the water lizard Pokemon as he munched down the food.
"Good!"said Bruce, before he poured some water in a water dish, before handing it to the water lizard Pokemon so he could drink.
"Sobble!"send the water lizard Pokemon in a thankful manner before he began drinking the fresh drinking water.
"Hmph, I wonder how this little guy's going to help me in my mission."said Bruce, wondering how strong this little guy was going to get under his tutelage.
"Bruce, are you in there?"shouted Hop from outside Bruce's temporary house.
"Hop, it's the morning. Why are you here so early?"inquired Bruce as he went over to the door to answer it.
"Because Lee wants to meet you in the front yard, ASAP."responded Hop, before motioning for Bruce to follow him.
"Heh, you really never change, young man."said Bruce, who recalled Sobble back to his pokeball, before he followed Hop to his house to meet up with Hop's older brother, Leon.
A few minutes later the Pokemon champion met up with Bruce and his little brother Hop in the front yard. He had a beaming smile on his face as he looked at both aspiring trainers, one who was barely starting out his journey in one who he thought never had a chance to experience his.
"So I'm guessing you guys have build up some fun with your Pokemon. Maybe already built a bond, maybe even some love."suggested Leon, figuring that a day was enough for Pokemon and Pokemon trainer to begin to form a bond.
"Sobble and I seem to have a compatible personality."said Bruce, who was telling the truth as the water lizard Pokemon seems to get along with him quite well.
"That is great news."said Leon with a smile.
"Scorbunny and me have been getting along great! With him and Wooloo by my side, the sky's the limit."said Hop with confidence, feeling like both of his Pokemon partners can take him places.
"Oh, that is wonderful to hear!"said Leon, who was proud of his little brother.
"Being a Pokemon trainer isn't just about bonding with your Pokemon. It's about calling them out for battle as well!"said Hop to Bruce in case he didn't understand.
"Oh, so you think you're a proper Pokemon trainer now? I'll be the judge of that. Bruce, would you mind being the first sparring partner with my little brother?"inquired Leon, suggesting that Bruce and Hop should have their first Pokemon battle with each other.
"Sure, I don't mind."said Bruce, figuring having a pokémon battle with both level up his starter Pokemon and get him accustomed to Pokemon battles.
So both aspiring pokémon trainers did just that by heading over to the battlefield and taking their positions, with Bruce taking the left side and Hop taking the right side of the field. Leon took his position in the middle, or more specifically to the side so he could act as referee.
"I'll be the referee for this Pokemon battle. You both can only use one Pokemon each."said Leon, making his little brother make a face.
"Ah man, I was hoping I could use both of my Pokemon."said Hop, who sounded disappointed.
"Hop, Bruce only has one Pokemon so it's only fair that you use one Pokemon."said Leon, reminding his little brother that his older friend only has one Pokemon.
"I guess you have a point."said Hop, agreeing with his brother that it was only fair.
"Now call out your Pokemon!"shouted Leon, causing both aspiring pokémon trainers to pull out their pokeballs so that they could call out their Pokemon.
"Sobble, I choose you!"shouted Bruce, calling out the water lizard Pokemon for battle by throwing the pokeball into the air, releasing Sobble on to the field for battle!
"Sobble!"said the water lizard Pokemon with confidence!
"Wooloo, come on out!"said Hop, before he called out the sheep Pokemon for battle.
"Beeeehhhh!"said Wooloo, clearly looking ready to throw down.
"I'm surprised you're going with him and not Scorbunny."said Bruce, figuring that Hop would have gone with the rabbit Pokemon instead of the sheep Pokemon.
"Well I was going to do that but then I remembered I should use a pokémon I'm more familiar with. Wooloo and I have been best buddies since forever! So watch out Bruce as I've read every magazine Lee has left at home, and I've watched all of his matches. I know exactly what to do in order to win!"said Hop with confidence.
"Alright, then you have the first move!"said Bruce, figuring he should give his young friend that courtesy.
"Alright then, use tackle!"ordered Hop, causing the sheep Pokemon to begin running towards the water lizard Pokemon with the intention of using tackle.
"Dodge it! The use pound!"ordered Bruce, causing the water lizard Pokemon to quickly jump into the air to avoid getting struck with tackle.
He then proceeded to land behind Wooloo, and before does sheep pokémon could realize what was going on, Sobble struck him from behind using pound!
"Use water gun!"ordered Bruce, causing the water lizard Pokemon to take in a deep breath before he unleashed a blast of water at Wooloo!
This attack successfully struck the sheep Pokemon, causing damage while at the same time pushing him to his trainer side of the field!
"Wooloo, are you okay?"inquired Hop, causing the sheep Pokemon to confirm that he was okay by letting out a behhh.
"Alright then, use tackle again!"ordered Hop, causing the sheep Pokemon to quickly run towards the water lizard Pokemon and successfully tackled him, causing damage.
"Roll on the floor to minimize the damage!"ordered Bruce, who is familiar with this tactic thanks to his many years as Batman.
So that is exactly what the water lizard Pokemon did, as Sobble was about to hit the floor, he curled up into a ball and rolled, minimizing the damage he normally would have taken.
"Not bad!"said Leon, sounding impressed.
"Yeah, I agree! Now let's see how you handle another tackle!"ordered Hop, causing Wooloo to begin running towards Sobble, with the intention of tackling him again.
"Use water gun to blind your opponent!"ordered Bruce, causing the water lizard Pokemon to blast a blast of water on Wooloo's eyes, momentarily blinding the sheep Pokemon.
Wooloo quickly shook the water out of his eyes, before he looked around and saw that Sobble was gone...?
"Wha?"said Hop, who didn't notice where Sobble was because he was too focused on Wooloo.
"Under you!"said Bruce, causing both trainer and pokémon to realize that their opponent was literally underneath them.
"Water gun!"ordered Bruce, causing Sobble to unleash a blast of water from underneath Wooloo, causing the sheep Pokemon to fly into the air before he landed on his trainers side of the field.
Where it was revealed that he had been knocked out!
"Wooloo!"shouted Hop, as he couldn't believe his partner Pokemon was knocked out.
"Wooloo is unable to battle! Meaning the battle belongs to Bruce and Sobble!"declared Leon, while his little brother we called the sheep Pokemon back to his pokeball.
"You did an amazing job out there Wooloo, take a nice long rest."said Hop, before he put the pokeball containing the sheep Pokemon away.
"Man, those were some unorthodox Pokemon strategies. What with rolling on the ground and having use water gun to blind Wooloo. I knew you had potential talent, it just never had a chance to blossom."said Hop, who was being a good sport as he knew that everyone wins and loses.
"Let's just say I've had plenty of time to come up with a few strategies."said Bruce, who was telling the truth as he used said strategies himself during his vigilante career on Earth.
"That battle was a lot of fun! It was so exciting I almost let Charizard out to join in! You and Sobble have a real connection with one another. I'm sure you're going to help Sobble evolve in no time."said Leon, who was right about suspecting that Bruce had talent.
"Lee, now did you see how good we are, you have to let us take part in the Gym Challenge!"said Hop, causing boost to pay close attention to the next part.
"You, take part in the single greatest competition in all of Galar? Don't go pulling your cart before the Rapidash little brother. Before you two can even think about taking part in the Gym Challenge, you both need a pokedex first"said Leon, causing Bruce to wonder what a pokedex was.
"You mean that device that has information on every known Pokemon. Well, I guess that makes sense as that will help me assemble a powerful team of cute Pokemon for the Gym Challenge."said Hop, who was ever the optimist.
"I'm glad you're being agreeable for once, little brother. How about you, Bruce?"inquired Leon, wondering if Bruce was in agreement.
"I never had a chance to learn much about Pokemon so a pokedex would definitely help me out."said Bruce, who was telling the truth as he figured a pokedex would help him in the long run assemble a team of Pokemon that will help them stop the second Darkest Day.
"Great! Now how about I head over to the pokémon lab to let them know that you both need a pokedex. You two just wait here in the meantime."said Leon, before he headed out... in the wrong direction...
"Lee, you're going the wrong way again!"shouted Hop, causing his older brother to turn around and head in the right direction.
"He really has no sense of direction."said Bruce, who was impressed by Leon's lack of directions as it was almost a skill at this point.
Suddenly, a loud bang could be heard near Bruce's house! Bruce quickly recalled Sobble, before he and Hop ran over to his house to see what happened. It was there that they saw a nearby fence that led to a nearby foggy forest was broken.
"Oh no, you don't think that rambunctious Wooloo finally broke the fence, do you?"said Hop, causing Bruce to remember what he was talking about.
In the local herd there was a rambunctious Wooloo known for doing its own thing like, like using tackle attack on this very fence!
"It is forbidden to enter the Slumbering Weald without adult permission. I remember the professor's granddaughter went in there one time and she came back in a real state, but that was nothing compared to the earful she got from the professor later."said Hop, wondering what they were going to do.
"Well luckily for you there's an adult here."said Bruce, reminding his young friend that he was an adult.
"Great! Now we can head it and save that rambunctious Wooloo!"said Hop, before he and Bruce made their way into the Slumbering Weald.
'This has nothing to do with the mission, but it is my duty to help out the innocent.' thought Bruce, knowing that it would eat at his conscience if he didn't do anything.
Plus he was curious to see what this Forest near the house he had been using was filled with. He heard it was filled with super strong Pokemon, now he wanted to see if that was truly the case. Wooloo going into Slumbering Weald was just the excuse he needed to go into the forest!
Unknown to Bruce though, a pair of eyes were watching him from a distance.
"Zaaaa!"said the mysterious creature, before it disappeared into the mist.
