A/N: Hi there! For those of you who were wondering, yes I did come up with the idea for this story before Ox's crush on Tiffany was revealed. I actually like them as a couple (even if it did come out of left field). I'm still writing this story because, well, see my explanation from last time. (Though, I may write an Ox and Tiffany story, too. We'll see).

You might have noticed I make a lot of pop cultural references in my stories. That's what happens when you're raised on Looney Tunes and Mystery Science Theater. I could make a game out of it: Spot the Pop Culture Reference! Some will be obvious, some will be more obscure. You should just point out the obscure ones, or else we'd be here all day. You don't get a prize out of it, other than the satisfaction of knowing as much inane trivia and random references as me.

Okay, enough rambling. It's showtime!

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Chapter 2: Waiting for Love

After class had concluded for the day (and Brian had remembered to turn in his accommodation letter, being in his pile of papers remaining after he sorted them out with Tiffany), Brian and Tiffany decided to pass the rest of the time by getting to know each other better.

"So, what other classes do you have?" Brian asked. "Besides the ones you already had today, I mean."

"I have a Child Psychology class. But that isn't until tomorrow. You?"

"I have a Programming class later today."

Tiffany nodded in understanding. "Ok... You do anything for work?"

"I work at Kids 1st."

Tiffany gasped. "Oh my gosh, I used to work there!"

"Really?… Oh, you're the Tiffany that Luann mentioned!"

"Yep! Nice things, I hope."

"Yeah."

That was a lie. He just didn't have the heart to tell her that every time Luann talked about her, it was in a negative light. 'Tiffany's a jerk, Tiffany's dumb, Tiffany's dated a lot of guys, which is a bad thing.'

"I figured. We are friends after all."

'Not likely, considering the way she talks about you.' he thought.

"How's working with Luann?"

"It's fine. She's nice, I guess." he said.

"How are those little sweethearts, by the way?"

"They're fine. Nice bunch of kids." He said. "So where do you work now?"

"I'm a server at Kafe Kablooie."

"Hey, I've heard good things about that place! I've never found the time to go there though."

"Well you should. Maybe I'd be your server."

"I'd make sure to tip you really well." he said.

"You'd better!" she said, taking on a mock threatening tone.

They broke out into laughter.

Brian looked at his watch. "I should be getting to my next class. So, same seats tomorrow?"

"Sure." Tiffany said, getting up from her seat and following Brian out the door. "See you then!"

"Yeah, see you!" Brian responded.

They each went their separate ways, ready to continue the day, but eager to see each other again.

After classes were over with for the day, Brian went to his job at Kids First.

As he and Luann were setting up the room for the day, he decided to strike up a conversation.

"You'll never guess who I met today. Your old friend Tiffany Farrell."

Luann smirked. "Let me guess, she saw you and instantly started hitting on you?"

"No, she talked to me like a normal person."

Luann looked confused. "Are you talking about the right Tiffany Farrell? Rich girl, blonde helmet hair, recently put on a lot of weight?"

"Yeah..."

"Well, that's usually how she acts around guys. The ones she likes, anyways."

"Huh. I figured she liked me just from the way she talked to me."

"Well, give her time, and she'll probably start throwing herself at you."

Brian chuckled. "I'd actually be fine with that. A girl being more forward with me would help, since I have no idea what I'm doing."

"Fair enough. And before you ask: yes, she has always had that hairstyle."

Brian shrugged. "It's nice to be consistent."

Luann snickered. "Yes, she's very consistent."

His eyes narrowed suspiciously. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Oh, nothing." Luann glanced at the clock on the wall. "Oh. It's time. You ready?"

"As I'll ever be."

"Ok." They then finished the preparation, and started the work day.

It had been a slow day at Kafe Kablooie. After the lunch rush not many people had been coming in. Still, they were doing good. Tiffany had a table for four to attend to. Three guys and a girl. Simple enough.

She strolled up to the table. "Hi, I'm Tiffany and I'll be your server today." She stopped when she saw a familiar face.

"Brian?!"

He looked up at her in surprise. "Tiffany?"

"Oh my gosh, how are you?"

"I'm fine." he replied. "How are you?"

"I'm good."

"Let me introduce you to everybody." he said, pointing counterclockwise around the table at the rest of his friends.

"This is my cousin Kyle." Kyle was thin, with a mop of sandy blonde hair. "Hey." he said, nonchalantly giving a little wave.

"That's my old roommate, Mikhail." He was a tall, well-built Russian with short black hair. He gave a curt nod.

"And his girlfriend, Suki." He pointed to a Japanese girl with long, dark brown hair and a cheery disposition. She waved.

Tiffany smiled politely. "It's nice to meet you guys."

"I roomed with Mikhail last semester, in case you were wondering. I should tell you about how we first met. There's actually a funny story there. So, I'm walking to my dorm room..."

The student dorm buzzed with activity. Students walked up and down the halls, finding their assigned rooms and carrying boxes of their things. Brian Resnick was one such student.

He strolled up to his dorm room. Opening the door, he was immediately met with his roommate.

His roommate was tough-looking and imposing, especially to someone as skinny as Brian.

Brian froze, too scared to say anything. Finally, his roommate spoke up.

"Sorry, I should let you through." he said, in a semi-thick Russian accent.

Brian sighed in relief. "Thanks." He maneuvered past his roommate, setting his stuff down on the one empty bed.

Turning back to face his roommate, he introduced himself. "Brian Resnick."

"Mikhail Rascolov. Please do not make jokes about my name, I have heard them all before."

"Nah, wouldn't do that. Besides, you don't look anything like Ernest Borgnine."

Mikhail stared for a second, then cracked a smile.

Brian, Kyle and Mikhail laughed at the story (just some light chuckling, not a full-on uproar. It wasn't that funny, after all). Suki and Tiffany, who didn't get it, simply smiled politely.

"Get it? Because Ernest Borgnine was in McHale's Navy, and-" Brian started, forgetting the most important part of telling jokes.

"That sounds the same as Mikhail, I get it." Tiffany interrupted. "You guys have your drink orders?"

"Yeah." Brian responded. "I'll have a root beer, Kyle will have water, and the lovely couple will both have cherry soda."

"Sounds good." Tiffany made a note of their orders, then left for the kitchen.

A few minutes later, she had returned.

"Here you go." she said, handing out their drinks.

"Spasibo." Mikhail said.

"Oh. Do Svidaniya." Tiffany replied.

Kyle smirked. "Leaving already? We haven't even ordered yet."

"I was trying to say 'you're welcome,' but-" she sighed. "Whatever. Are you guys ready to order?"

The other four students nodded in affirm.

"Alright. Brian, what'll you have?"

"Your phone number." Kyle said, smiling cheekily.

"Kyle!" Brian exclaimed indignantly, giving him a little shove.

"You know, that's not a bad idea!" Tiffany said. "We'd need to exchange phone numbers anyway, in case we end up studying together."

"Among other things." Kyle said, under his breath this time.

Brian and Tiffany exchanged phones, putting in their information for each other.

Handing their phones back to each other, Tiffany continued. "So, what will you guys have?"

Brain again gave everyone's orders. "Kyle and I will both have the chicken and waffle, Suki will have the chicken sandwich, and Mikhail will have the hamburger."

"Well done." Mikhail added.

"Any substitutions, alterations, allergies?" Tiffany asked.

Mikhail and Suki shook their heads. "No." they said in unison.

"Okay, sounds good! I'll be back with everything."

After she had left, Brian and his friends resumed their conversation.

"So, you guys ever notice how root beers taste different, but cherry sodas taste the same?" Brian asked.

"I think orange sodas are like that too." Kyle added.

"That they taste similar or different?" Suki asked.

"Similar."

"I think the cola flavor is like that, too." Mikhail interjected.

"Well, I always thought it was more like..."

The meal had been excellent. (Complements to TJ.) They sat there, contentedly waiting for Tiffany to return with their receipts (and Brian's credit card) while they worked out the tip.

"So, what is it, 15, 20 percent?" Brian asked.

"I think it's 20." Kyle replied.

"Okay…" Brian put the math into the calculator app on his phone. (There was no way he could do the math in his head. Whole numbers were fine, but then you got into cents and fractions, and the whole thing was a mess.) "It should come to a few dollars per person, so you guys should chip in. It's only fair."

"Right." Kyle said. He and the others got out their wallets.

They totaled up their share of the tip, then placed the money in a pile at the center of the table.

Just as they finished, Tiffany came up to their table.

"Here's your tip." Brian said, handing the money to Tiffany.

"Thanks. Here's your stuff." She set the receipt and credit card on the table for him to take.

Brian smiled. "Alright ramblers, let's get rambling." He sat up from his chair, the others following suit.

He grabbed the card and receipt, placing both in his wallet. "So, see you tomorrow." he told Tiffany.

Tiffany nodded. "Sure. Thanks for the big tip, by the way."

"You're welcome." He turned toward Kyle, looking at him expectantly.

"What?" Kyle asked.

"Nothing." Brian said. "Just, thought you were going to make a joke."

Kyle looked at Brian funny. "Okay…"

"Thank you for the great service." Suki told Tiffany in her slight Japanese accent.

"You're welcome. Come again soon!" Tiffany replied.

"We definitely will." Brian said, he and his friends heading for the door.

As they left, Tiffany sighed dreamily, thinking of Brian, then turned and got back to work.

A/N: I know what you're thinking. Did I name his roommate Mikhail just so I could make that McHale's Navy joke? The answer is yes.

I'll probably switch to finishing my Warriors story, then update my Gravity Falls story or publish some new stories. I'll come back to this, don't worry!

The best part about it taking place in the past, other than nothing going on right now will affect it (though I've thought about this story for so long that it's safe to say that, if something that happens in the comic later appears in my story, I probably thought of it first. That's how pathetically obsessed with this story I was. If it's just a funny coincidence, I'll make sure to mention that.), is that it doesn't matter how bad my normally terrible update schedule is! I'm kidding, I will try to improve, promise.

Don't forget to leave a review, so I know what you thought about it, and what you liked about it! Bye!
