chapter 24

Lillian arrived at a small diner she agreed to meet her eldest brother at, via flying of course. She immediately spotted his gorgeous sleek black impala parked in front. Before entering the diner, Lillian took a few shaky breaths to herself. She had to prepare herself for what she was to face inside.

She was incredibly nervous to see Dean after ghosting him. Although, she was also incredibly thankful that she was only meeting with him. If it was both Sam and Dean then she wouldn't know how to take being hounded by both her brothers at once with questions. She feels guilty in a way. Guilty because she made Dean angry, but she is not upset or distraught for leaving to protect herself.

She raised her chin high and walked up the steps into the diner. Trying to show she had confidence and nothing to hide. Lillian turned her head to the left and spotted her brother sitting four booths down from the door. She approached his booth with caution, almost being able to feel the emotion radiating off of him. Lillian slid in her side of the booth and was met with tension.

Dean glared at her. He looked as if he wanted to scream and say a million different things. Though he kept himself composed. Lillian stared at her brother trying to figure out a way to ease the tension. She tapped her fingers on the table and as she was about to speak a waitress came by.

"Hey doll can I get you anything?" The waitress who had the name tag that read Serenity asked Lillian. Lillian forgot she was in a diner for a moment. She stared blankly at Serenity while the waitress gestured toward the menu in front of her. Lillian looked down not realizing it was there the whole time. "A drink to start off then?" Serenity suggested.

"Just water please, thank you." Lillian finally spoke. Hunger doesn't strike her much these days. Even if she was hungry she would be too nervous with the uncomfortable tension between her and Dean to eat. She awkwardly turned towards Dean and gave him a suggestive look to order something too.

"I ordered right before you got here." Dean answered grumpily.

"Oookay, you got it young lady!" Serenity smiled at Lillian as she went off to get her a glass of water.

Once the waitress left, Lillian straightened her posture and looked at Dean. She figured they would get no where if she sits here waiting for him to talk first. "What did you want to talk about?"

Dean leaned in closer towards her as if not to let any wandering ears hear their conversation. "I know you are hiding something from Sam and me. I want you to tell me it. The whole ordeal." Dean clenched his fist over the table as he spoke.

Lillian kept herself as calm as possible. "What makes you think I'm hiding something?" She questioned with a curious head tilt. She has to know what he knows. She can't just say everything and then find out he really doesn't know anything.

"Cut the bullshit Lily!" Dean slightly raised his voice which caused the people in the booth next to them to look over concerned. Lillian flashed them an apologetic look. Dean continued, "I know you are hiding something. I just know it and you can't hide from me anymore. Be glad I haven't told Sam shit yet or he would've pulled these secrets out of you already and you know he would."

Lillian stared at Dean in silence. Her face unchanging and expressionless. She has to stay composed. This could go in two major directions. Dean finds out and accepts her or Dean finds out and wants her dead. If she appears erratic then it wouldn't look good for her case of accepting her how she is.

As she stayed silent Dean continued. "You disappeared as soon as I confronted you? How does that not look suspicious either. It's like a big red sign that's screaming I got secrets!"

She let out the breath she didn't realize she had been holding and finally responded to Dean. "I panicked okay? I left because I don't know what you know" Lillian laid her hand flat on the table now as she nervously tapped her fingers, avoiding eye contact with her brother. "I needed time to myself and by how I have been in the past you know it's not an odd occurrence. I am sorry I just left. I shouldn't have left you hanging like that." She looked up at him with watery eyes. Overwhelmed by the situation. Upset at the fact that her older brother was so furious with her. Emotions and thoughts swarming her mind that within the next few minutes he could discard her as nothing, as a another monster. "I am sorry. Can you please tell me what you know?"

Dean's cold angry stare faltered when he saw the tears fall down his baby sisters face. No matter what is happening or how angry he is, he can't stand to see her upset like that. Dean will always have a soft spot for Lillian when she gets upset like this. He always wants to protect her. Even if she is the one protecting him from time to time he wants to make sure she is safe at the end of it.

Dean rubbed his hand over his face and leaned back in his booth. "That bald bastard Zachariah.. He sent me to 2014, right?" Lillian nodded in acknowledgment. "In that future Lucifer won. Total apocalypse world. I saw him Lil. Sam said yes and Lucifer was just joyriding in his body and it was like Sam had given up or never tried fighting for his body back."

Lillian put her hand on her face in shock as she leaned on the table and listened. Dean leaned forward as his tone turned more twisted. Filled with anger and disgust. He tapped the table as he spoke to put emphasis on the gravity of the words he spoke. "And you were there. Though you weren't the sweet, well sweetish, Lil I know. You were Lucifer's bride." Dean had a major frown on his face as he slowly looked up at his sister. Lillian's eyes went wide full of shock.

Lucifer's bride? I will admit I have some feelings for him but none that could ever be reciprocated. To be married to him while he is in Sam's body?? That's all kinds of fucked up. What the hell is going on in 2014…

As Dean took in her reaction he continued. "That's not all!" He slapped his hand down on the table looking down at it. "You weren't even human." He turned to look up at her coldly. "Now I don't know if that was all fake, just a game the feather dusters upstairs played to try to get me to say yes to Michael. But I do know that you have always been secretive. I see the way Cas looks at you. I thought It might've been a little crush. Hell, I could be wrong right now and it is."

The waitress came by bringing Dean his food and Lillian her water cutting them off. They both thanked Serenity as she walked off to help another table. Dean turned backed to Lillian as he said his final piece "All I'm trying to say is, you need to fess up sis."

Lillian took a deep breath as she laid her hands flat in front of her on the table. Green met green as she looked into her brothers eyes and gave him the smallest nod. "You're right Dean." She spoke softly trying to avoid setting him off in anyway, especially with what she was about to reveal. "I have been keeping something from you and Sam." Her fingers met as she started to pick at her cuticles anxiously without breaking eye contact from her brother. "I honestly don't know where to begin on how to tell you." Sipping her water she gazed out at the window on her left trying to find the right words to say.

"Just start from the beginning" Dean suggested, eager to hear what his sister had to say. Lillian noticed he seemed a bit more relaxed and less tense now that she was willing to talk to him and tell him everything. He was still on guard but more calm. So she leaned back in her booth to get more comfortable and began to tell him what she thought was best for him to know.

"Before I start I want you to know I am your sister, Dean don't forget that. We are family." Lillian searched his face for reassurance and found it when he nodded at her. I wonder how long he will feel this way towards me, Lillian thought to herself. She continued, "Mary Winchester was my mother. We all know that. What you don't know is John Winchester was not my father." Lillian paused for a moment to let Dean take in that tidbit of information before she continued again.

Dean was visibly confused by Lillians statement. "That's impossible. Lily, Mom wouldn't cheat on Dad and even if she did then what? Are you saying Sam isn't Dad's either?" Dean questioned.

"Heteropaternal superfecundation." Lillian stated.

"Heteropa- what?" Dean didn't understand the gibberish like words that came from her mouth.

"I didn't understand it at first either. Then I found out about heteropaternal superfecundation. It basically means that a woman can get pregnant and carry twins fathered by two different men if the eggs are fertilized within around the same time period. Which brings me to the next point.."

"Hold on- you are trying to convince me that you aren't Dad's? Lil you are a Winchester." Dean was stunned to hear everything his sister was saying. He couldn't believe it.

"Dean you have to let me finish, it will all make sense. I've met my.. I guess birth father-" Lillian tried to explain.

"When? Who is he?" Dean cut her off.

Lillian put her hands up and let out a frustrated sigh in annoyance. "Dude I know you have questions but we are gonna get to the juicy parts soon. I can't tell you who my father is."

"Why?" Dean leaned forward. His voice changed to a concerned tone as well as the expression on his face.

"Because.." How do I say this? She thought to herself. I guess ripping the bandaid off is the way to go. "Because I'm a nephilim." Lillian spoke in a hushed tone as she leaned over the table. "My father is an angel."

Dean leaned in close as if he was gonna whisper something to her. Something serious in response to the bomb she just dropped. Lillian was sweating bullets, full of anxious nerves on how her brother would react to her secret that has finally been revealed.

She closed her eyes waiting for him to say something and that's when she heard a small chuckle. When she opened them again she saw Dean leaning back in the booth clutching his stomach laughing. Why is he laughing? Why does he think this is funny?

"What's funny? You think this is a joke? That I'm fucking with you?" Lillian asked him feeling a bit angry.

Dean tried to speak between gusts of laughter that kept coming. "I have known you your whole life Lily, I would know if you were something other than human!" He wiped a tear from his face. "I don't know why you are trying to fuck with me right now but that was a good one, you looked so serious!"

"Dean!" Lillian shouted quietly, not forgetting they are in public. He ignored her and picked up his burger that he almost forgot the waitress dropped off at the table. Lillian placed money for the food and a tip on the table before standing up to go over towards Dean.

Just as he was about to take his first bite she firmly slammed her hand down on his shoulder and flew them to what looked like the middle of nowhere. Dean had a bewildered look on his face as he looked around and took in his surroundings. Still clutching the burger he was about to take a bite out of he took a few steps on the dead grass below his feet and looked at his sister in front of him. She flew them to an abandoned farm somewhere in Ohio.

Dean gave a disappointed look at the delicious cheeseburger he was looking forward to eat. He then let it fall into the grass as he marched forwards to his sister with a pointed finger. He felt like he didn't recognize her, as if he was seeing her for the first time. "How did you do that?"

"I already told you how. I'm a nephilim." Lillian reminded him.

"How could you keep this from me? From us?" Dean took a step back. He felt hurt that his sister could keep something so big, so lethal, from her family.

"There's a few reasons. One of the biggest ones was I feared how you would view me. I was scared all of you would abandon me. We are hunters and I did not want to become the hunted just because I'm not completely human."

"You thought we would turn our backs on you?" Dean asked. Lillian nodded in response. "Lil you're family no matter what we would never abandon you. I don't care if we have different dads or if you're a mutt." Dean smirked at his younger sister and pulled her into a hug. She wrapped her arms around him and shed a few tears of relief.

When they pulled apart from the hug Dean questioned her again about her parentage. "Why can't you tell me who your dad is?"

"Nephilim are sorta illegal in heaven I guess. If they were to find out about me or who sired me then they would try to kill us both." Lillian started to walk with Dean side by side towards a worn down fence to lean on as they spoke more.

"Why are nephilim not allowed?"

"Heaven sees us as a threat because we have free will since we have a human soul. We also become more powerful than the angel who sire us…" Lillian answered.

"And who sired you?" Dean wasn't giving upon finding out who her father was.

"Dean.." She rolled her eyes at him

"What? It was worth another try. I'm curious."

The brother and sister duo sat in a comfortable silence leaning against the fence. They watched as the sun started to set and how peaceful it made the sky looked. It made Lillian think about how peaceful she felt now that Dean knows. She doesn't have to tiptoe around him with her powers anymore. She can just fly away in front of him and not hide anymore. Hunting will be less of a challenge. She can finally heal people. Although she isn't ready to tell Sam yet. She feels like he will take it worse than Dean. She knows Dean is still a bit angry with her for never saying anything but he is understanding why. Sam always shared secrets with her growing up, until as of recently when he started acting weird around her. Lillian shared 'most' of her secrets with him too. They had their own twin bond with each other where they could always count on one another and be each others best friends, but as of lately she's felt like she could only rely on Dean. Sam has distanced himself from her. Their bond had wavered. Sam and Lillian have many things they still need to work out. She needs to tell him about herself when she is ready to.

"Can you promise me something?" It was Lillians turn to ask Dean a question.

"What?"

"Can you not say anything to Sam. I want to tell him when I'm ready. I feel like he will take it differently than you."

Dean nodded at her, "But I'm not keeping this forever. You better tell him sometime soon." Lillian nodded in response. Dean snapped his head around to look at her with a puzzled look as a question arises in his mind. "Wait, who else knows about you?"

"Cas. I asked him not to say anything because it wasn't his place to tell."

Dean made a face at her. "I knew it! He always acted weird around you. Now I know why. I knew something was going on." Dean thought for a moment. Digging in the back of his mind for something he hadn't thought of in quite a while. "I think Dad knew something, I could be wrong but he might've."

"What do you mean?" Lillian asked completely caught off guard.

"When he was in the hospital, before he um died. He told me something about Sam but he also said something about you too. He said that I have to watch out for you. Which I mean I've already been doing your whole life, protective older brother hellloo. But uh.. he said I have to make sure you don't go down the wrong path which you will be very susceptible to."

"What the hell?"

"Yeah I know." Dean agreed.

They Sat and watched the sunset finish. The beautiful pink and orange hues fade along the horizon until it was officially night. Once it was over, Lillian flew them back to the diner. Dean was grateful to see that Baby was fine.

They both got in the impala, agreeing that they've been separated too long. Dean started up the engine and turned on the radio. He pulled out of the parking lot and turned down the road, heading back towards the motel where him and Sam are staying at. Lillian leaned her head on the window watching the night sky pass her as Dean drove. She was glad to be back and happy to be seeing Sam again even with the tension they may have going on. The only thing she has to worry about is her next encounter with Lucifer…
