A/N: First and foremost, thank you so much for reading my very first fanfiction. I never thought that a supposed to be oneshot could end into having three chapters and I have never been so thankful in my life. Once again, thank you so much for reading.
Anyways, enjoy!
The glorious sun begins to descend as it gives the view a nice orange hue. The crashes and splashes of the ocean waves as they reach the shore add to the serenity of the view. There, appearing in various shades of gray, is a T-shaped tower. This is where the five mightiest teenage superheroes live, saving the city of Jump City every day. Some children and teens even dream of becoming part of the team one day.
Anyway, it just so happens that two of the tower's occupants are on its rooftop. A green-skinned man wearing a black and violet spandex suit, who appears to be quite tense, and a pale-colored woman in a black leotard and a blue cloak to cover her accentuated figure; she seems to be calm and composed on the outside, but definitely on the verge of panic and apprehension on the inside.
Perhaps this is the perfect moment for what's about to go down for the both of them, specifically for Beast Boy.
"You can do this, Garfield! You're the man! You can do this!" He thought to himself. Honestly, he was nervous as hell, even though he had plenty of courage earlier. He never imagined a romantic confession could be so stressful. Nevertheless, he had to try and win her heart in this moment.
On the other hand, the woman in question seems to be waiting for whatever he has to say. Raven never thought he would ask her to come to the rooftop and talk to her as she was about to do the same thing to him. Now that saves her a lot of trouble of finding him and asking him out, but another problem arises...
"This is nerve-wracking! I never thought he would ask me to be here personally. I wonder what does he want to talk about?!" Raven thought to herself as she tried to figure out all the possible conversations they could have, which is not very her. "Wait! Don't tell me-"
"Oooh! I'm so excited!" Happy exclaims happily to herself.
"Is this finally it?! Is this the time I've been waiting for?!" Affection chimes in, feeling delighted at the thought of all her romantic fantasies coming true with Beastboy.
"Meh! I doubt it! Maybe he called us in this very moment just to mess with us afterwards!" Rude says as she scratches her butt while lying down lazily, not caring about what's currently happening.
"It's likely the case, but there are also chances that he might say or do something bad or unfortunate, like leaving the team for good." She spoke in a matter-of-fact tone, pushing her glasses up. Deep down, though, she hoped that Happy and Affection was right as well.
"NO! I DON'T WANT HIM TO LEAVE!" Timid cried, woefully contemplating all of the possible tragic events that could occur between them.
"WOULD YOU GUYS SHUT UP?!" Rage shouted to all of her fellow emotions as she stood in the left corner, looking unaffected by the situation, but little did they know; she wanted to see what happened next and hoped for the best, which was also not very her.
All of the emotions became silent from the seemingly endless bickering and looked at Rage. Then, they all looked back out into Raven's mind, which now resembled a cinema screen.
As time marched forward, Beast Boy remained silent, feeling hesitant to speak. Eventually, he took a deep breath and began to speak.
"So uh... I'm sorry for calling you at this time of the day, Rae." he said as he tried to be as relaxed and casual as he could.
"No, it's okay. I was actually about to find you anyways, and it's Raven." She replied, putting an emphasis on the end part of the sentence in her usual manner.
"Oh, sorry, Raven. Hehe..." he shyly said as he rubbed the back of his head. He then tapped his index fingers together repeatedly before speaking once again.
"Uhm, you know. We've been teammates for a long time now… Like, how many years since we met already?" At this point, Beastboy became confused.
"Five years… and counting." Raven answered in her usual monotone, not entirely sure where this was going.
"Right! It's been five years. Anyways, it's been a long time since the team was formed, and our first meeting as well. I remember how you greeted us that day and it left me speechless. From that day, a lot of things happened. We fought the Hive Five, The Brotherhood, even your father at your 16th birthday. All of the good things and bad things, we always shared that with everyone. Despite the fights and arguments, especially me annoying you with all of my petty pranks on you, we still find ourselves getting along together." He continued.
Raven was about to ask, "Beastboy, where are we-" but he stopped her.
"Wait, let me finish first!" Beastboy said as he continued speaking. "I know that ever since we met, I've been disrupting your peaceful life, and all I got in return were either being thrown off the top of the tower or sent to another dimension. The latter was pretty creepy, but I had to do something to get your attention." Beastboy admitted as he scratched his right cheek with his index finger. "All of these things I did, I thought they would make you smile or laugh, and I kept on failing over and over. There was even a moment where I wanted to give up and just let you go, actually." He confessed as he bowed his head slightly.
Raven was surprised by what she heard. If she were still the same Raven from a few years ago, she would probably nag or scold him for continuing and encourage him to just give up; but she's different now, and that's what matters to her.
"Every time I look at you, the fire in my heart doesn't stop burning. It keeps calling your name, and it's because of you that I am who I am today." Beast Boy said, looking at her passionately.
"So you're saying that..." From that moment, Raven's tense feeling immediately loosened and her expression became warm as she looked back at him in return. She may have known where this was going, but she still wanted to know from him as well.
"Raven, if you don't mind," he started as he then gently caressed both of her hands. He could feel how incredibly smooth and soft they were, and he didn't want to let them go. "Will you like to be my girlfriend?" Beastboy finally asked the real question.
Raven was at a loss for words. He finally confessed to her. Her mind went into disarray as her emotions were having mixed emotions on this scene. Happy and Affection were squealing loudly, Brave yelled "ATTA GO GIRL! BRING HOME THE TROPHY!" while yodeling, Rude was shocked beyond recognition, Knowledge was now anxious as she was thinking of possible scenarios on how to answer. Timid was smiling meekly, and Rage was just there, but she was hiding a small, unnoticeable smile on her lips. After a while, Raven finally spoke.
"Beast Boy, I... I don't know what to say! Honestly, I kind of expected you to do this, but... It's still too much for me!" she said, visibly struggling to process it all despite her expectations.
Beast Boy then caressed her cheek with his right hand. "It's okay. Take your time." He reassured with his signature grin. She couldn't help but smile back at him every time he did that.
"Alright. Thank you, Beast Boy." she said genuinely.
"Anytime, Raven. I'm always here for you."
Beast Boy waited for her to process everything until she finally spoke once again. This time, it was calm, firm, and controlled.
"First of all, Beast Boy, thank you for always being with me, with us. Even though you're kind of an idiot jerk who doesn't know how to stay in one place and have caused so many problems from the very start, we are still glad that you were born and are here with us. I admit that you were funny the first time we met, and I absolutely loved and regretted it. For someone like me, who needs to control their emotions every single time or else the world would end. That's why I always avoided joining the team's extracurricular activities, and yet you were still persistent in making me join no matter what. At first, I was genuinely irritated by every antic and prank you did to me and the others. Even your jokes were as lame and vexing as your pranks. Hence, you deserved to be thrown to the bottom of the ocean or another dimension." She explained as she remembered those times with him. Even Beast Boy remembered those as well and he couldn't help but feel cringe-worthy at his past self.
"But after I became free from my father's curse, I... started to see things differently. I became aware of my feelings for you. Whenever I see you, I get this... tingling sensation in my stomach, and it feels good. It has been really difficult for me not to look at you, even if it's just stealing glances. I can't help it at all." She continues.
At this point, Beast Boy starts to feel tense, anticipating her answer to his question.
"I just found out the answer to what's been going on with me, and it took me a lot of time and effort to accept it. Even my emotions have helped me reconcile my feelings along the way. Yesterday, I actually wanted to find you and tell you how I felt about you. And you went through a lot of trouble for me. So, to answer your very…intricate question, yes. I do want you to be my girlfriend." she finally answers with a warm smile on her face.
Beast Boy couldn't believe what he had just heard and started jumping and dancing out of sheer joy.
"Yes! I finally made it! Raven is now my girlfriend! I'm so happy to be alive!" he exclaimed, as tears of joy poured down from his eyes. After that, he hugged Raven firmly and carefully. "Raven, thank you so much. You don't know how much it means to me." He admitted.
"That should have been my line, Beastboy," she joked as she hugged him back as well. They stayed like that for a while before they split apart and looked at each other. From their perspective, their eyes were glistening and shining like stars in the sky, and they couldn't help but feel the warmth and comfort they were exuding. After all these years of pain and laughter, they had finally become together. They felt like they were in a lucid dream that they didn't want to wake up from.
As their faces came closer and closer, slowly but surely, until their soft lips finally met. From that moment, the only thing they felt was bliss as they continued to kiss each other passionately. Tongues intertwining, hands on backs and behinds, the intense moment, both of them wanted to indulge in it as much as they could. Eventually, they needed to split apart and take a deep breath from their intense kiss.
"Wow! That one's intense!" Beast Boy commented.
"Yes. It was... delightful." Raven replied, still in daze from the feeling of their kiss. "So, we're finally an official couple now. It feels amazing, Gar." she added, using his nickname.
"Hey, no fair! I will call you Rae from now on then. It suits you." Beastboy joked.
"Fine, since you insisted." she said in her monotone before cracking another smile. "Another one?" she asked.
"Be my guest." He said as they shared another kiss, though it was longer than their first.
Little did they know, the rest of the Titans were watching them in the common room through Cyborg's surveillance camera.
"Yay! Finally, my favorite friends are officially a couple! I'm so happy for them!" Starfire exclaims as she flies around the room squealing and shouting joyfully about the news. Meanwhile, Cyborg and Nightwing look at the screen and then to each other for a moment. After that, Cyborg smiles wickedly and offers his open hand, while Nightwing takes out some money from his wallet.
"Here's your 200 bucks. I hope you're happy." Nightwing said exasperatedly.
"Oooh, I'm definitely happy right now, Boy Blunder!" Cyborg said as he counted his stack of money he got from their little bet with Nightwing, still wearing that wicked smile on his face. Nevertheless, Cyborg was amazed that the green bean finally fumbled the bag and he was never been so proud for him than ever.
It took them time and effort to make this moment become true, and for both Beast Boy and Raven, it was well worth the wait. Perhaps, this very moment would be their best memory of their lives... yet.
