Thorndyke Mansion (Morning)

Explaining things to his parents wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do for Chris. "I found this... cat in the pool, and I got it out." he said over a phone. He didn't think his mom would believe him if he said he saved an alien's life. After hanging up, Kirby floated down from the roof.

"But I'm not a cat." he said.

"Uh, I know. Please don't be mad." the human said. "You see, my mom wouldn't understand."

"Why not?" Kirby asked.

"Well, aliens aren't exactly common around here." Chris explained, as if talking to a child. He'd learned that while Kirby could speak and think for himself, he had the mentality of a toddler. As he wondered about the puffball's origins, the phone in his hand rang again. It was his father on the other end of the line. After explaining once again that he was perfectly fine, he heard something resembling a volcanic eruption. Looking down, he realized the sound came from Kirby's stomach. "Oh, sorry. I guess you must be pretty hungry, huh?"

"Yeah, I'm starving." Kirby said, patting his belly. Were there any Maxim Tomatoes nearby? Or even better... "Do you have any cake?"

"Cake? I can see if we have some in the fridge." Chris said, walking to the kitchen. He quickly returned with a slice of strawberry shortcake.

"Yay!" Kirby shouted before Inhaling the cake, leaving Chris astonished.

"You really were hungry, weren't you?" the boy said, rubbing the back of his head.

Thorndyke Mansion (Day)

"The pink marshmallow-like being, seen here on police helicopter video, has the city baffled." a newscaster on TV said. Chris and Kirby were both relaxing on the couch in the living room, since there was nothing else to do.

"It was about this high, it was pink, and it looked like a pillow." one of the policemen from last night said.

"I was doing about 60 when this thing went WHOO right by me." a man in a car explained, remembering Car-Mouth Kirby speeding past him.

"That thing moved too fast for a regular animal." another man said.

"As to the question of whether this is a UMA, Unidentified Mutant Animal, it is positively not." an animal biologist says as a monkey messes with his glasses. "Even the snake, which can open its mouth four times as wide as its body, isn't able to fill its entire body with food. Because of this, the inescapable conclusion one must inevitably come to is that the so-called marshmallow is in reality a machine."

Memories of the Jet and Mecha Abilities ring through Kirby's head, wondering what it would be like to be a robot. But after recalling Mecha Knight and Star Dream, he decided it was probably best to remain as he was now.

The door to the room burst open, and an old man in a lab coat enters the room. "There you are." he says to Chris, seemingly unaware of Kirby. "Guess what? A pink balloon came out of nowhere and raced against the S-Team yesterday." It was at this point that he saw the pink hero in the room, glaring suspiciously at him. Worried, Chris smothered Kirby with a pillow, only for it to be pushed off by an irritated puffball. The old man then tackled Kirby, thinking that he was some sort of robot. He got out a screwdriver and attempted to find a panel he could remove. To his disappointment, this only served to tickle Kirby. Laughing, the puffball floated upwards to avoid the man.

"Grandpa, he's not a machine!" Chris said, stopping the elderly man.

"Now let's go live to this late-breaking story." a news reporter on the TV said, getting everyone's attention.

"Stay back!" a voice familiar to Kirby shouted. He turned to the screen to see Bandana Waddle Dee being cornered by a group of firemen. The soldier attempted to fend them off with his spear, but was eventually captured after his weapon was taken.

"Bandana!" Kirby shouted, worried for his friend.

"Who?" Chris asked, confused. He assumed that this must've been a friend of Kirby's. They did look very similar.

"I gotta rescue him!" Kirby proclaimed, rushing out of the house.

"Do you know where he is?" Chris asked, stopping the puffball in his tracks. Kirby ran back to the human boy, forced to remain at the house until he knew for sure where Bandana Dee was.

Garage (Day)

"I thought they'd probably do something along those lines." the old man said through a phone. Apparently, he was Chris' grandfather, Max. "Well, thanks very much for giving me the scoop, and I'll talk to you soon." After hanging up, he turned to face his grandson. "Well, it seems that Kirby's friend has been captured by the police and moved to Area 99."

"Area 99? That's that top secret military base." Chris said.

"Military base?" Kirby asked, imagining something like Egg Engines or the Jambandra Base.

"It's where the National Defense Force keeps all their tanks, fighter jets, and high-tech spy equipment." Chris explained.

"Sounds like someplace Susie would like." the pink hero said to himself.

"Your friend has been taken there by the army and placed under 24-hour guard." Max said. "The authorities believe that he could be an alien, or perhaps a member of a mutant species developed by an enemy power designed to attack the population. I wonder if they might not be right, Kirby, eh?"

"I would never do something like that!" Kirby vowed. He'd never destroy an entire planet. Well, except for Dark Star, but that was a one-time thing. "How do I get to Area 99?"

"I'll go with you!" Max proclaims, excited.

"Grandpa, are you serious?" Chris asks, surprised.

"Of course I'm serious." he answers. "And you're coming along too. You told me you don't want to lead a boring life like your father, so here's your chance for some excitement."

"Well, if you're up for it, I'm up for it." Chris says, hesitant. "Just, don't tell Dad."

"Alright, let's get going!" Max shouts, getting his car ready.

Max Thorndyke

The eldest member of the Thorndyke household, as well as Chris' grandfather. He enjoys tinkering with machinery, and has a keen interest in Kirby's biology. But all Kirby cares about is his tickling.

Bandana Waddle Dee

A fiercely loyal member of King Dedede's army, this talented fighter has helped both Dedede and Kirby on many occasions. At this point, he and Kirby are practically best friends. While he might not be the bravest warrior, he is still a great asset to the team.
