A/N: Sorry it took long, but a new chapter is finally ready. And this time, there's a few new things here. First off, there's a couple updates to the first 2 chapters before this one. Second, there's a new alien comrade working with Gallaxhar voiced by Tony Todd. And third, this is where some similarities from the game would start to appear in this story as well. Enjoy. :)
Monsters VS. Aliens
Chapter 3: Close Encounters of the Invasive Kind
Meanwhile, in the farthest reaches of outer space where a big mothership resided, the top center of the ship flickered to life. Inside, a masked, muscular alien with armor and black clothing underneath said armor and a white symbol resembling a scratch mark with a mark resembling the head of a sort of squid alien on it grafted onto the chest of the armor went to the control panel and tapped some keys into it before then pressing the big button on the panel.
"Begin reanimation sequence.", the computer spoke before he turned to the pod at the center, which opened to show a squid-like alien with 4 eyes awakening from his slumber.
"Who dares to wake me?", the alien asked.
"Gallaxhar, the Quantonium has been located on a distant planet in the Omega Quadrant.", the alien reported as it showed a meteorite headed for Earth.
"The Omega Quadrant? Lame.", Gallaxhar commented.
"The trajectory of the Quantonium meteor has been traced to sector 72-4, the planet locally known as Earth.", the computer explained.
"What a miserable-looking mud ball. Send a robot probe! Extract the Quantonium with extreme prejudice. I want it all. Every last drop!", Gallaxhar ordered as he tapped on his own panel and got off his own pod whilst moving closer to the monitor.
"Yes, Gallaxhar.", the computer replied before Gallaxhar turned to the alien.
"Klyntar! You are to arrive on this planet with the probe and observe it whilst locating the Quantonium. Inform me if anything happens.", Gallaxhar stated.
"Yes, Gallaxhar.", Klyntar responded.
"Nothing can stand in my way now.", Gallaxhar smirked as both the pod and Klyntar took off from the ship.
Meanwhile, on Earth, a car stopped in the middle of the forest as a song from Journey called, "Who's crying now" played. As the song played, though, a young man was just lip-syncing along to the song while his girlfriend moved lovingly closer to the man, making him nervous to a point that he shoves her back.
Journey: One love feeds the fire,
one heart burns desire.
Wonder who's crying now?
"Don't rush me, Katie! I'm just not ready.", the man said.
"Oh. Relax, Cuthbert. It's just like dancin'. I'll lead.", Katie said before coming onto him quickly.
Just then, the radio suddenly started changing by itself.
"Katie, I have a gymnastics meet tomorrow. So maybe...", Cuthbert began as the car's top even started to open by itself due to the switch being flipped by itself as well.
"Did you open the top?", Cuthbert puzzled before looking behind him and seeing something in the air.
"Oh. Thank goodness. It's the police. We weren't doing anything, officer!", Cuthbert shouted.
"Yeah, nothin' at all.", Katie responded sarcastically.
But as the light grew closer, it turned out to be coming from the probe which went right above them and hit the ground a few feet ahead of them as a smaller ship trailed behind it.
"Jiminy! Why did I even let you talk me into this? Maybe we should get outta here.", Cuthbert panicked.
But Katie's curiosity was showing as she stood up from the car.
"Or, maybe, we should go check it out.", Katie suggested before getting off the car.
"Katie, are you nuts? Wait! Don't leave me alone!", Cuthbert shouted before going after her from behind.
But suddenly, he tripped on a broken fence and landed on the ground.
"No! My ankle! I think it's broken! Katie?", Cuthbert whined in pain.
Katie stopped for a moment and groaned. She was not pleased.
"This is the worst date ever.", Katie sighed.
A few moments afterwards, as Katie carried Cuthbert up the hill, they stopped upon seeing a strange figure growling as he took in the surroundings, shrouded in dust and smoke. It was Klyntar.
"Katie, I'm frightened.", Cuthbert said.
Klyntar took a look at the two and then started to give a low chuckle, at first. But it eventually turned into menacing laughter as the probe's eye opened and looked down on Katie and Cuthbert, its blue light from its eye covering them. The sight and sounds from all this left both of them screaming in fear.
The next day, it then showed a news report taking place.
"Good evening, Modesto. I'm Bob Brinkman.", Bob introduced.
"And I'm Veronica Shapely. Tonight's story: Aliens.", Veronica said.
"That's right, Veronica. Call them what you will: aliens, extra-terrestrials, or little green men, do they walk among us?", Bob asked.
"Some locals would say yes after seeing strange lights in the sky, not to mention, as one of them stated, 'a real-life alien being'.", Veronica said before it went to Cuthbert and Katie on the scene.
"Yeah! We saw them land in those woods! One of them even looks like some kind of intergalactic professional hunter! They've gotta be from outer space! They may've caught us by surprise, but next time, I'll be ready for 'em...", Cuthbert said before getting out and putting on... "See? Tinfoil hat! That'll stop 'em!"
"Again, this is the worst date ever...", Katie groaned.
Then, it went back to the news anchors.
"So, what does the government have to say about this? We have with us again tonight - General W.R. Monger and the man only known as the 'Scary Government Guy in Black'.", Bob said before it showed the two together.
"Thank you for having us here tonight, Bob.", the man in black thanked.
"Yes, siree, Bob. It's good to be on your fine program again.", Monger responded.
"Some of you may remember both the man in black and the general from those reports of a giant man, a giant woman, a fire elemental, and a water elemental spotted at a Modesto wedding while one mysteriously turned into a pile of sand spotted.", Veronica said.
"Allegedly spotted, Veronica. Those reports might have something to do with all this champaign. After all, it may be possible to get drunk from drinking too much of the stuff.", the man in black said.
"And those reports turned out to be entirely un-substantiated.", Monger said before it went to the news anchors with Bob laughing.
"Now, seriously, you two, what do you make of this? Are we being invaded by Martians?", Bob asked.
"Martians? 'Course not.", Monger responded.
"So, what do you think they saw out there.", Veronica asked.
"Well, in my professional opinion, I'd say it was a case of good ol' fashioned swamp gas.", Monger responded.
"Swamp gas?", Veronica puzzled.
"Ah..., of course.", Bob said before the general winked to the camera.
"All right, interview's over. No more camera.", the man in black said, placing his hand on the camera before it went to static.
