It is my 13years old birthday. Dauntless does celebrate the birthday but I don't think that I am in my mood today. Mike talked to me like he was questioning my authority. Yet I am not an official leader of dauntless but still I am in the top position in government.

Alexander comes to see me later and he sits with me .

"It's fine . I told Mike already and he said nothing about it" Alexander gives me a small box ."Happy birthday Delia . Today it is your birthday and you should be happy."

"I know . Thank you Alex . How is Jessica . She is almost going to give birth. Any problem with Albert still?" I take the box

"Not anymore but I will kill him if I find a chance， because I hate him so fucking much." Alexander grits his teeth.

I giggle . I know that Alexander is easy to be jealous .

"One thing that Mike is right. Delia you are too focusing on Jason. Many initiates are already jealous ." Alexander rubs his hind neck."I am kind of jealous as well."

"Why?" I narrow my eyes

"I and you supposed to be partner and we supposed to be closer but all the time you were watching him and protecting him. How long have you talked to me or staying in my office . I see that most of time， he was talking you away."

I bite my lower lips . I know that I didn't prepare my time wisely.

"I am sorry Alex . It is just that I don't want to lose anyone anymore Alex . I am tired ." I say."Alexander please promise me something okay?"

"Yes I will promise you." Alexander nods

"Promise me no matter what happens， you will use your life to protect Jason . Please， I need you to do that." I am crying

Alexander is silent. I know that I am selfish for saying that

"Why? What's wrong with you?" Alexander grabs my hand

"Mark said that something is coming toward me . He just protected me once but then he will not be here for me . Now I will be alone . If that thing is coming to me， I will not survive it. It is always my intention to protect Jason." I cover my face ."Please Alex."

"Yes I promise you that even using my life as a bet. I will protect Jason walker ." Alexander sighs ."You are the best instructor we can ever have."

I stand up. I walk to the window . I can't tell Alexander the secret

"There is a big secret hidden in this city . I don't know ." I massage my temple.

"There is a surprised for you in the cafeteria . Do you want to come and celebrate with us ?" Alexander smiles

"Sure， why not?"I need distraction now so it is best choice I have

He beckons to me and I walk with him. We walk side by side until we reach the cafeteria . The door opens and everyone shouting and screaming.

"Happy birthday Delia ." Linda and Elizabeth come and hug me .

Jason and all the initiates are here to welcome me . Jason pats me on my back . I walk in and a huge cake is there on the table .

"Happy birthday ."

Everyone start to happy birthday song. I sit there infront of a big candle . This will be my last birthday in here so I better take it seriously.

If they replace me in abnegation， then I will no longer have chance to celebrate my birthday because they don't celebrate it.

"I wish everyone are safe ." I make a wish and blow the candle

While I am cutting cake， someone takes some cream and put on my face and smudge it. I look at him . Edward is making a ghost face at me .

"Eddie， everytime is you . Jennifer just minds your boyfriend ." I roll my eyes

"I haven't say yet Delia." Jennifer shakes her head ."He is just trying to play with you."

"Fine ." I shrug.

I give the cake to everyone . I only have a small piece for myself .

"Don't like too sweet." Jessica sits down beside me . Her mouth is full of cake ."I love the chocolate ."

"You never like it before . It must because you have a girl." I giggle."How about sour."

"I like sour as usual or even more now ." Jessica sighs."I hate to be a mother . Daughter always like their father and will make me jealous ."

I wrap my arms around her . I look at Alexander

"What?" Alexander raises his eyebrows .

"You have a son . In opposite， your son will like you more so you can have a revenge ." I cover my mouths"I may not see it coming."

"No delia， shut up. Jason needs you and we all do." Jessica grabs my hand

I don't want to make her sad . I shake my head

"I feel sick like my grandma . I may just leave ." I shrug."Who knows ."

"Delia you will be fine . I promise ." Jessica brushes my hair .

We finished celebrating until late nights. Many initiates leave early including Jason and Jennifer . They are best friends now because sharing same fate.

I leave the cafeteria . Then I hear a scream， someone are attacked by someone . The sound is from above the chasm.

I run toward them and I see that three people are fighting a similar figure : Jason. Jason is the best fighter but now three against one and he isn't ready for it.

"Stop it." I shout

They see me and then let Jason go. Jason falls and I run toward them and punch them and kick them hard in their sad . They fall and I see that Jason is hanging above the rock and I drag him up.

He is all bruised and purple. Joshua runs to me

"Take them to the hospital and I will comeback very soon." I help Jason stand up.

"Sure Delia， don't you need help?" Joshua drags the three people up.

"No thanks ." I wave at him

I am angry. They are trying to kill Jason already. I put Jason into my room on my bed

"Jason are you fine?" I just ignore the pain of my knuckle

"Are your hand okay?" Jason rubs his eyes

"They are none of your concern. I am sorry that I didn't expect that to happen." I say

Jason hugs me . He let me rests in his arms .

"Delia， I am sorry to tell you that it was provoked . They were just trying to say something about you. About you were sleeping with Joshua ."

"Jason， please I told you that you don't need to care about what they said about me ." I grab his arm."I want you to stay out as much as possible . They are already watching you."

"I heard your conversation with Alexander . You want him to promise you that he will use his life to protect me ." Jason looks at me sad ."That is bullshit."

He is angry. I want to calm him down but I don't know how .

"Jason， you are my initiate . I don't know what will happen to me . There are a lot of thing can happen." I say

"You promised me that you will stay with me . You will not leave me ." Jason is crazy now ."If you are going to leave， you will see me dead."

"No jason， I don't want you to do that. That makes me worthless . You will have to protect you okay?" I say seriously."I mean it."

I let Jason sleeps on my bed . I sneak out the room and lock it. I walk toward the hospital. It is at the top level of the compound .

John ， jake and William are there . I know John and Jake are best friends with Johnson so that is a revenge but William? How can William be that murder ?

"So I am here for an interrogation." I sit down . Legs crossed .

"What do you want to know?" Jake coughs with blood

"Why do you guys want to kill Jason ." I say."What good can come out of this."

William snorts . He looks at me with his giddy eyes

"We are jealous of his rank . We think that you are putting all your efforts on him so if he is dead， then you have no one to care about." William retorts

"Is that what you guys feel? I heard from Jason said that you guys are gossiping of me and Joshua ." I lift one eyebrow.

They are silent. John shakes his head .

"We didn't . He was lying. We are Candor and we can't be lying." John argues

"However if you are so Candor ， then why are you guys switching the faction and I can access to yo aptitude test record." I arching my eyebrows ."Don't lie to me then."

"We are sorry. We just want to scare him but you came and I release him by accident." Jake shakes his head

I don't believe them. I stand up and walk to the window.

"Tomorrow you will go through truth serum and we will decide your fate ." I clap my hand .

I leave the hospital. I am exhausted . I return to my room and sleep on the couch. I sleep so well that I didn't wake up until Joshua is shaking me .

Jason is opening his eyes wide

"We thought that you passed out." Joshua sighs with relief

"I am just sleepy. Today is half day off so ." I stretch my arms

"They are going to question those three boys." Joshua shrugs .

I know that Alexander will be so angry . I get up and dressed in my uniform. I pile out of my room with them. They are above the chasm

"Alexander wait." I wave at him

Alexander inserts them first . When I reach the chasm, they already standing there z

"So what's your name ." Alexander ask

"John, Jake and William." They answer in unison.

"What did you guys have done last night." I ask

John and Jake look at me . They are not divergent
