I walked into the bedroom, and nervously glanced around. "Dad?" I said, as I went over to his limp looking body on the bed. I gently shook him, but he didn't move. "DAD?!" I said shaking him harder, still nothing. "Mama?!" Cami said as she ran in. "CAMI GET OUT!" I ordered, as I frantically went to feel for a pulse. I didn't want her to see this… "Mom?" Jensen asked. "I'm fine. Just go sit with your siblings."

Tris: Hey, Liza, I need your help… Can you come help Jensen get the kids home and down for a nap?

Tris: Hey Mar, Uriah, and Zeke… Um… I need your help Immediately… I'm at dad's…

Liza: On my way. Where are you?

Uriah, Zeke and Marlene: On our way.

Tris: Dad's

Tris: thanks guys. I owe you all big time!

I went poked my head out to Jensen. "Hey, Let Aunt Liza, Aunt Marlene, and Uncle Uriah and Uncle Zeke are on their way. Aunt Liza is going to help you get the kids home and down for a nap." He looked confused. "I'll explain later." He nodded.

Eric: Hey babe. Everything Okay? Any particular reason you're pulling Liza, Marlene, Uriah and Zeke at one time?

Tris: Long story short, Liza is going to help Jensen get the kids down for a nap, Mar, Uriah and Zeke because I need their help… I'll explain more…

Eric: Tell me. Is Dad, okay?

Tris: No. I think he might be dead, okay?

Eric: Four, Tris and I have a family emergency, I really need your help.

Four: already on my way up. You go to Tris. Liza called me.

Eric: thanks Man

Eric: On my way honey.

I didn't and couldn't hide my smile. Before I knew it, Liza had come and ushered Jensen and the kids out, and Uriah, Zeke and Marlene entered the bedroom. "What's going on?" Mar asked, as Eric came in and over to me, wrapping his arms around me. "I don't know… Dad just texted asking if one of us could come pick up the kids early because he wasn't feeling well…" I said leaning closer to Eric, fighting tears. "When I came the door was locked and the code didn't work… Cami opened the door, and I came in here and he was like this… I tried everything to wake him, screamed at the kids to get out… I couldn't feel a pulse…" I felt Eric's arms tighten around me. "Well, I'll preform the initial exam, and then the boys can help me get him to the infirmary to have a doctor officially pronounce him." I nodded, as Eric pulled me to the other room.

"Tris, if I had known it would be this bad, I never would've let you come alone…" I said "Why us Eric? Why?" "Why?" he asked. "Why is it whenever we feel our life is going okay something bad happens? When we both felt ready to go back to work, I get diagnosed with postpartum depression, when we find out we have baby number three on the way, dad dies…" Eric frowned pulling me to his lap. "Hey, none of that, it's just really unfortunate circumstances, that just so happen to hit when our life is going good." He comforted me. "We're going to get through this, together." "What are we going to do? One of us needs to be home…" Eric shook his head. "Nope. I actually created a daycare facilities here at Dauntless, it'll be ready to go in the morning. Shauna is the head worker, Annie, Abby, and Amy are the other workers, the initiates from the current group." I said "Really?" He nodded and said "I started the plan a few weeks ago, Allie, Abby and Annie have been training for half the day, after their fear landscapes. Shauna's already finished." I smiled sadly and said "Thank you." "Excuse me, Tris? Eric?" I heard Mar say, causing us to stand up. "Hey…" The look on her face confirmed what I had suspected. "I'm sorry…" Was how she started. "Don't be…" "I'll call you later with the official cause of death…" I nodded, as Eric said "Thanks Mar." We went back to our apartment, where Jensen was waiting. "What's going on?" He asked. "Your granddad passed away…" He immediately hugged me, tight. "Mom, I'm so sorry…" I said "thanks, son." I had hugged him back tightly, before I said "Let me know when the kids wake up…" I saw Eric frown, but nod as I ran to the bedroom. I threw myself on the bed and broke down sobbing. "Hey Mar… No, she's not okay… I don't know what to do… she looks so fragile… I'm worried this might put her right over the edge... I'm not leaving her alone, I promise. Thanks! See you soon." I heard Eric say before I felt his arms around me."

"I'm sorry, Honey come here. Cry on me." He whispered as he pulled me in to his chest, which I curled up close to him letting him rock and calm me. "Mom? Dad?" Jensen said from the door frame, causing us to look up. "Aunt Marlene is here." Marlene came in ruffling Jensen's hair, as she entered sitting on the end of the bed. "Hey." I said, sitting up, but remaining close to Eric. "So, the doctors diagnosis, was consistent with mine... But he was able to determine the official cause of death." I looked to her. "It was a heart attack, a major one. He must've been in pain for at least a few hours before he called you to get the kids." "But he was only 32..." (A/N: Max and Natalie were 16 when Natalie defected, so I just added, 16 plus 16, which would make them 30's, I couldn't find the age, of Max in anything I've read, so that is what I have to go on. If my math is wrong, please let me know! Thanks!) "How is that even possible?" Eric asked.

"Heart attacks can happen to anyone at any age, but it's usually not this young, but I've seen it happen even younger." Marlene explained. "Thank you." I noticed her handing something to Eric. "I'm so sorry, Tris, and Eric. I know how much he meant to both of you." "Thank you..." I whispered, as I leaned closer to Eric, who kissed my head. "Try and sleep, now..." Marlene said, as we curled up and drifted into a fitful asleep.

In the morning I woke, to an empty bed. "Eric?" Eric came in dressed, in his black jeans, and black sweater. "I'm here sweetheart. I asked Jensen to stay home with the kids today, while we go to Amity..." "Thank you..." I said, as I stretched a little. "Let me get dressed and we can head out." Eric said "Of course." I quickly pulled on a pair of Eric's spare jeans and sweater before exiting the room. " Hi, Mom!" Jensen said as he served breakfast. "Thanks buddy." I kissed his forehead. The kids ate, and Eric and I quickly ate before we ran towards the train. Eric swung on to the train, I struggled, to swing on. Eric reached his hand down catching my wrist, and hoisted me up so I could grip the door, as he pulled me into the train car. "I got you." He whispered, as he held me. "Thanks." I whispered as I sat on the floor of the train. "You okay?" Eric asked as he knelt down beside me, wrapping his arms around me, causing me to lay my head on his shoulder, burying into his arms. "I'm fine..." I whispered.

"No, your not, love... What's wrong?" Eric said, stroking my hair comfortingly. "I'm sure I'm just overwhelmed..." Eric said "Well we'll be in Amity soon and hopefully the counseling will help..." We arrived in Amity, and talked to Johanna.

~71 years later.~

I couldn't believe my life, had changed. Eric was waiting for me to pass over to his side, he passed 1 year ago, when he was 90. I turned to my kids. Jensen, Cami, Clarrisa, Baby Max. Natalie, Andrew, EJ, Annelise, Erika, and Savannah. The girls were crying, The boys, were being strong and holding their sisters. Jensen touched my hand. "It's okay, Mom. Go be with dad. We'll be okay. We love you. Give dad a hug and tell him we love him too." I closed my eyes. I could feel my soul leaving my body. I descended up to heaven, which is when I saw Eric, he looked just as he did 71 years ago, when he was 18. "Welcome home, my love." He whispered. I knew I was home, when my arms, no longer wrinkly, but the same skin I had when I was 17. We looked down to see our kids, who grieved. They had a long road ahead of them, but I knew they were strong enough. They were Dauntless through and through.
