Welcome back to another Chapter of Paldean Memories….
I figured I may as well expand on Carmine and Kieran's Backstory to some extent given the Siblings's Cecaelia nature as well as Geeta being their Mom as well…
Plus consider this a Semi-Sneak preview for some of the Blueberry Academy Kids as well….

Story 9: A Cecaelia's Facade

Symposis: There's often more to a Person at times, And it's no exception for Carmine Ranto either….
While often know by her Classmates as the Resident Tsundere of the Academy, She and her Brother Kieran are not only Cecaelias but also the Unheard children of Paldean Top Champion Geeta… And beneath her seemingly brash personality lays more then what she's willing to let on as well….

World of Pokemon, Paldea Region, North Paldean Sea, Geeta's Cave, Carmine and Kieran's Room:
'Why… Why must I born like this…' Carmine Ranto thought to herself as she looked down to her Bottom half where instead of Legs, Was Blue Malamar like Tentacles as she cringed at the mere sight of her true self's body while her tentacles raised up and down as her brother was sleeping nearby her.
No matter what she says, No matter what she thinks, No matter what she and her Brother's opinion on the Matter,
This Cave was moreso a Prison then a Home for Carmine and Kieran… Especially for when they're staying with their Mother Geeta…. The Top Champion of Paldea.
And being born as a Cecaelia makes it worse as it's like being a Freak of nature and unable to voice out her plight on her situation has driven her insane to some extent and forced to do her Mother's Commands as well.
Geeta was not a Pleasant Woman nor was she even a Kind Mother to she and her Brother…
Especially once their Father Died, Geeta was forcing she and her Brother to be trained as her personal spies to infiltrate possible sources of Power for her Rule of Paldea to be unchallenged or spy on possible targets to be elimated and killed if needed…
Even if she was the closest thing to an Aunt and her personal reason of not going insane, Rika was unable to stop Geeta due to the latter saving her life and unable to turn against her savior after she was kicked out form the Paldea Merfolk Clan…

When Carmine and Kieran are younger:
"Carmine, Kieran, You dears may need to be punished for your recent failures…" Said Geeta as she looked back in an eerie maner as the Older Cecaelia wrapped her Tentacles around her Children
"Mother no please don't!" Carmine pled as Kieran looked back in agreement as Geeta simply smiled back and unleashed a thunderbolt attack onto her Children, Shocking them both as they felt the electric Shock
Meanwhile, Unaware of this, Rika was watching nearby as the Veluza Mermaid simply turned her back, Unable to look at her Friend's Abuse of her own Children.
Just as Carmine looked back while in Pain form the Electrical Shock form her Mother's Tentacles….

Said Punishements often left Carmine a Phobia of Electric type moves especially thunderbolt which not helped by how Popular the move is due to the Kanto Champion Red and his Pikachu expanding to other trainers as well….
The Blueberry Academy was Arguably more of home to the siblings… But it wasn't enough…
Carmine often took a Façade of being a Tsundere type of girl to hide her pain form the others with no one as a Shoulder to cry on as she and her brother knew if they're found out as Cecaelias, It'll mean not only being kicked out of the Academy but also the possibility of being sent to a Research Facility due to legends of Merfolk and Cecaelias….
While Carmine was able to befriend the Blueberry Academy's Elite Four (Lacey especially), She doesn't consider them much of friends to her at least…
Crispen was fine so far, Amaryas while not emotive much was certainly not one to sniff into other People's Bussiness at least… But Drayton?
Not only was he Rumored to be the Grandson of Mayor and Gym Leader of Opilucid City Drayden but he was often a Deliquent whom discovered a new Evolution of Duraludon as well recently…
Not someone Carmine would hang out with, but if she must, She'll rather be with him over her Mother.
Heck, Anyone would be better then her as Geeta was nothing like she was in Public….
But what hurts even more for Carmine is how Geeta not only keeps she and Kieran's Existance a Secret form the Public (Aware of how such abuse on them would ruin her Career)…
But also admitted the Toddler Poppy was like the daughter she always wanted, Even treating her far better then she and Kieran ever did….
Things also sored even further when the Young Heiress of the Rotom Company Nemona became a Champion Ranked Trainer and also gotten special treatment as well… a Point that has continued even more when a Mermaid named Juliana also moved to Paldea and became a Champion as well….
'I swear, That Juliana Girl that Mother's been obsessing over is more like her child then me and Kieran ever are….' She thought to herself as she scrowled how Geeta doesn't see She and her Brother as Children but moreso personal soliders in her Army then those Prodigy Children popping up lately….
However, She then felt a Sudden Jolt in her mind as she and her Brother started to have their Compass like marks on their necks glowed as their
"Children… Time to go now… Time to get your next assigement form your Mother..." Said Geeta in her Children's mind as they're dragged out form their Room and Forcefully against their wills, force to swim to where Geeta is…
While Carmine may be dub the Blueberry Academy's Resident Tsundere….
They may see her in a Different light if they knew the Hell she and her Brother went through under their Mother's Abuse….
And Geeta's Ambitions are no doubt going to end anytime soon as well….

Author's Note:
Yeah, This Chapter is Mostly to explain Carmine's Personality in the Mermaid Legends of Paldea-Verse,
Her Canon Personality of a Tsundere is basically a Façade in this Fic to hide her Abuse form Geeta (Whom again, Is Kieran and Her Mother in this Story) since well her being a Cecaelia means she can't exactly get help easily….
Yeah, Geeta's not going to be an Over the Top Villain like Jack Homer form Puss in Boots 2 but I want to make it clear that I'm not going to pull a Hawk Moth/Gaberiel and Redeem Geeta at least (Plus consider this a way, I'm actually writing Geeta that DOESN'T INVOLVE BASHING HER like I Possibly would with Chairman Rose given truth be told, when I was writing Galarian Awakening, I was planning to kill him off there as well but that's something in the Past now)
Likewise, The Whole mentioning of Carmine and Kieran being in the Blueberry Academy as well is basically both a Mix of their Late's Father wishes for them as well as Geeta's intentions to keep an eye of Briar as well)
(Given her suspicious Nature, I haven't work out what to do with Brair yet so Carmine and Kieran are also doubling as their Mother's way to keep an eye on her should she try to interfere with her plans with the Devine Tempest in Area Zero)

Still, Kieran's Behavior is worrying at least… I mean, Sure Carmine's part of the Reason for his sanity slippage due to lying about it (Man, It's already bad enough Miraculous Ladybug has issues with Adrien and Marinette (To the Point it's hard to even ship them with how their Romance was a Disaster) but it's making the Flames worse by having Adrien both locked out of the Loop and Final battle as well (And I'm part of the Community who DOES care for Marinette and want both her and Adrien to be equals).. What happened to Kieran may as well be similar to Adrien as well)
But man is the Kid going to be a Prime Example of Negative Character Development compared to say Zuko or Game!King Dedede's Positive Development cause regardless of what happens in Indigo Disk, It's going to be Tragic no doubt….
(Still, Guess we finally got that Jerk Rival we're been begging Since Johto… (Bede doesn't count in my Opinion since he was gone for a good Chunk of the Game and his Development was offscreen to boot) but we certainly are paying a Heavy Price for it… Even more then VOLO's Betrayal at least)
Heck, Recent Leaks are already making things even more Concerning as well for the Kid and yeah, GameFreak's not holding back after how Bad SwSh's Story was to say the least (Even if I have a workaround for it however….)

Also, Regarding Carmine's Line about Poppy (And how Geeta often admits Poppy's like a Daughter to her), It's basically her admitting how She feels jealous that Geeta treats Poppy better then she and Kieran as well…
And this is why Geeta was able to get away with the Abuse she did on Carmine and Kieran despite them being her Kids: She never metioned/brought up their Existance or how they're related to her.
So basically, Kieran and Carmine are basically left in the Dark with their GrandParents unable to help due to Geeta using her Power as Paldea's Top Champion to slience them as well.
Yeah, Geeta's not a Mustache Twirler like Jack Homer but you all wanted a Hateable Monster, I'm making Geeta that Monster for you with Volo as the Psychotic Killer as well….
So Basically, Imagine Mother Gothel as Geeta's Major Villany inspiration at least, to Contrast Volo's more murderous sociopath as well….

Also, this Sounds odd since this where I'll end the Chapter…
But for this Chapter, I will include an Omake included inspired by Baleygr-07's Fated Story, which unlike Fated, Is moreso Canon and mostly about two Characters interacting….
And it's Everyone's favorite Salary Worker (And the Most Vocal of the Anti-Geeta Club) Larry and Juliana's Uncle Alvin during after work hours…
So Consider it a Small Worldbuilding Chapter with some Alvin Moments to show he has a Life beyond his Niece and Sister in Law (Also for Larry Fans out there, He's here for you!)
It's basically a B-Story/Extra Chapter you find in Comics and Mangas so Consider it a Small Bonus Chapter and my attempt at experimenting with new Writing Styles as well…

Symposis: It's no secret that a Lot of Geeta's Employees (Gym Leaders Especially) have a Very Complicated relationship with her, Especially with her Elite Four and Gym Leader Larry… Whom just wants to go back home and away form his Draconic Boss's work….
But Maybe a Friend can help cheer him at least….

World of Pokemon, Paldea Region, Medali, Treasure Eatery, Late at Night.
"So… I take that today's just as Rough as Yesterday Larry?" Said Alvin as the Hoennian Man looked back to his Fellow Worker as he munched on a Klawf Meat Riceball. "Must be hard being both an Elite Four and Gym Leader, Especially during the Treasure Hunt the Academy does every year at least…)
"Indeed…." Larry Sighed as he drank more of his Sake as he let out a Sigh at this while his Komola clinged onto his Wrist as he ate. "Same old work and Geeta's being her usual draconic self as always…"
"Does she have anything better to do besides making my life even worse?" Admitted Larry to himself as his Friend gave a Sympathetic look form what he heard.
"Tell me about it…" Alvin signed as his Manectric was just napping by his side as well, "I'm just happy I'm working where Geeta's more hands off at least but I can see what you and the other Gym Leaders feel about Geeta at least…"
When he moved to Paldea due to his new Job (As well as inheriting his Grandfather (On his Mother Side of the Family)'s House in Paldea after his passing due to being the Older Brother of his Family), Alvin wasn't expecting the Unsavory Rumors of it's resident Top Champion to be true.
Geeta was lack for a Better word, VERY Questionable for both her Status as Top Champion and the Chairwoman of the Paldean Elite Four…
Not only having a Team that's very questionable for a Champion (Though this one was often considered to be mostly form the (VERY) Elitist Fandom of Sinnoh Champion Cynthia (Whom set the Standard for Champions for them in their Eyes) but even People whom aren't fans of Galar Champion Leon admitted he was more of a Champion then Geeta as well) but also for infamous relationships with her Staff and Gym Leaders (Larry especially) especially when it was time for her to Evaluate
(And as of late, The Inclusion of the Young Prodigy Child Poppy as part of the Elite 4 which while the young Toddler/Child was a Hot Topic of news for other regions (Sinnoh Especially) as while Poppy was happy with her Status as an Elite 4 Member, This causes many to question Geeta even more and results in a Lot of Debates about this which fortunately never gotten the Toddler's attention, Does paint Geeta in an even more negative light even if Poppy actually enjoyed being part of the Elite 4 as well.)
But regardless of these actions, Many (Begrudgingly) admitted the Top Champion of Paldea despite her Questionable methods and Actions, Was still an Arguably better person then Chairman Rose in the Galar Region at least in terms of Running a Company at least since (In their words) 'she still has a Brain in running a Company at least to not impulsively do stupid as well.' (A Statement that ends up being true with the Darkest Day Disaster occured due to the Massive Controversies about him becoming true as even turning himself sours the Public's Opinion on Rose as well.),
Making Geeta the more reasonable Boss to work with even if she was still a Controversial Person compared to the Infamous Leon whom as of late was not only focusing into making the Former Rose Tower into the new Galarian Battle Tower but also cleaning up the mess left behind.
"Tch, She hasn't asked much form me yet, But right now?" Alvin admitted as he glance towards his Colleague…. And then to the TV nearby which has a Rerun of one of the Galar Championships Finals with Leon and his Charizard Cynder against his Longtime Rival Raihan's Duraludon with the two of them as the Hoennian Man Scrowled at this.
"I'm actually considering her a Worser person then Leon… And that saying something given the whole deal with her as well…" He continued while admitting how Leon's Personality gave him a Negative Opinions on Charizards due to how much he boosts about his as Larry gave a 'I know what you mean' look, No doubt sharing the same dislike for the rather boisterous Galarian Champion as well (Too Fancy in his Opinion, He never got the appeal of these Regional Gimmicks as well, Especially when Geeta forced him to use Terastalization and Mega Evolution as well….That woman really has a thing against him no doubt)
"More then you think Alvin…." Grumbled Larry as he munched on his riceball, "She's really making us do the Overtime thing…."
"I really just want to see my Wife…." He continued as he gulped down his shot of Rice Wine as he did, Alvin giving his Friend a Look of Pity as he did…
Larry was the First Person he befriended when he both moved to Paldea and no doubt while he's not a Married man and was fairly well off with the Inherited money left in his Grandfather's Will, Alvin sympathized with Larry's Plight as no doubt his Brother also deals with the same thing as well…
Striving to make sure he uses the most of his free time to be with his Wife and Daughter as well (Especially when said Wife and Daughter are Mermaids as well)
"Don't worry man, We may have the world's worst boss right now… But at least have each other…. Plus we're not working for an Idiot like Chairman Rose as well so that's a plus."
"…Thanks…" Said Larry with a rare smile to his fellow co-worker.
As Larry resumed his Meal, Alvin took out his wallet and took out a Photo in it as he let out a sigh.
In said Photo was him, Johnny, Mizu and Juliana with his Manectric, Plu-Plu (Johnny's Plusle) and Athena (Mizu's Milotic Sister) by the Beach at night with Ju
'Man, Hope you're doing well with Mizu and Juliana back in Hoenn Johnny….' He said as he resumed his own meal shortly afterwards as he pocketed the Photo back into his pocket.
He admitted he grown used to Mizu and Juliana… But at the sametime, He was happy they dodged a bullet right now at least given a Recent Incident involving Some Rogue Students in the Naranja Academy attacking with Revearoom Powered Vehicles with their Victims running away before it could began, Causing quite the Chaos to the point one student was sent home to Galar for their Safety and the Former Staff lead by Director Harrigton resigning afterwards…
While he doesn't know what went down beyond the Stuff that wasn't censored by the ex-Academy Staff (Rumored to be a Last ditch attempt to save face after their failure to prevent the situation form happening), He was relief Juliana was never involved in such a situation, Especially since being a Mermaid, She'll be an Easy target for what happened there as well.
But fortunately, The New Academy Staff was not only considered an Improvement to many but the New Student Council President was also a New Student whom not only enrolled sometime after the Revaroom Incident but also the Heiress to the Paldea Rotom Phone Company as well.
But despite this, He does hope Geeta won't make things more worse for him and Larry at least, Especially with the things in the Academy looking up at least form that Drama episode.

Omake Edition Author's Note:
Yeah, This Chapter's Omake is mostly talking but it's still something at least.
The Leon Stuff, Yeah I have to Acknowledged how yeah, Geeta's arguably the ONLY Character handled worse then the Archetype she represents in SwSh as well (I mean, The Paldea Trio are quite well liked among the Community (Arven Especially but Nemona and Penny arguably got more fans then Hop, Bede and Marnie combined as well) and Even Team Star and Sada/Turo are way better handled then Team Yell and Rose at least…
But Geeta? Besides her Questionable Team (Again, I'm not as harsh about it as other Fans but I can understand why, Especially given Cynthia's existance as well.) and not helped when you looked past the Charizard Focus and him basically hogging what could be your big Moment, Leon's not really all that bad… To the point his Major Flaw is that he's basically suffers form Good Character, Bad Game Symdrome as well…
So I do hope you enjoy Larry making jabs at Geeta here as well (Figured He'll be the Most Anti-Geeta person in Canon at least) even if I admit, Geeta has potential unlike Chairman Rose at least.
(Yeah, this Fic can come off as Geeta bashing I admit, But rest assured, Geeta WILL be an Actual threat and not just a Jobber like her Canon Team/Bashed Characters at least)
Yeah, I have a Headcanon Larry hates Geeta the Most out of any Gym Leader but his general tiredness (And not wanting to lose his Job due to needing to feed his Family) is the one thing that's keeping him form trying to overthrow/Kill her as well…
(Also, For those who Read my (Currently on Hitaus) Fire Emblem Awakening/SwSh Crossover Galarian Awakening, Can you find the nod to it in this Omake?)
But still, Thoughts on my Take on Larry and his Friendship with Alvin?
(And Also, Yes, Larry has a Keystone in this Story, the Paldean Elite Four, Geeta herself and some of the Paldean Gym Leaders (Like Tulip, Katy and Grusha) have Megas in Mermaid Legends of Paldea as well.)
Also BTW, For Mermaid Legends of Paldea:
Nemona was enrolled AFTER the Team Star Incident so that's why she's not aware of the Bullies or Team Star's Plight since she wasn't present in it (I know Nemona's the type that will brush off being Bullied but I prefer the idea she wasn't present in the Bullying Drama at least, With her being in a Bully-Free School Environment at the cost of the Other Students wary of her due to the Tensions still high form the Team Star/Bully Drama as well so she has zero idea of the Hell the Bullies put Penny and her Friends into.)
