It had been a week since the tournament had begun and already it was in full force.
Hopeful trainers with dreams of battling Ash have pushed themselves and their Pokemon to their limits in order to win in the tournament.
Currently in the Typhlosion's Den dorm, Tyson Fisher was deciding what do to for his second qualification battle.
He had already cruised through the first qualification battle with just his Growlithe but since the second qualification battle was a double battle, he was struggling to figure which Pokemon he should take in.
He wanted to give Growlithe a rest, and many of his other Pokemon have been eager to get into the battlefield and battle.
Tyson sighed as he laid down on his bed. It was times like times were he wished he could talk to his sister. Although they were significantly apart in years, their bond as siblings was still as strong as ever and she helped him catch Growlithe to be his first Pokemon.
Tyson soon was dangling his phone, wondering if he should push the number to call her when suddenly… his phone started to ring on it's own.
And as luck would have it it was his sister.
Tyson was briefly caught off guard by this as he juggled his phone a bit in his hands before catching it and accepting the call.
"Tyson? Is that you?"
"Sis? Um hey, long time no see."
Soon there was a massive squeal as his sister soon began speaking at a fast-pitched rate.
"Tysonohmyarceushowareyoudoing? Youhaven'tcalledhomeoncesince youwenttotheacde-."
"Sis I am fine, sorry about not calling though."
His sister soon composed herself.
"So I heard about this tournament that is going on at your school. Are you participating?"
"I am, but I am not sure which Pokemon I should use for the next battle I have in the tournament."
There was a small moment of silence before his sister talked again.
"It dosen't matter."
"Huh?"
"Whatever Pokemon you use out there will put their trust in you. So you need to make sure that you can replicate that trust in your Pokemon. You got it?"
Tyson could understand what his sister, and he knew what he needed to do.
"I get it. Thanks for helping me out as usual sis." Tyson said to her with a huge smile on his face.
"No problem, and when you win call me again so we can celebrate your victory."
Tyson soon nodded and soon hanged up having decided upon what Pokemon he was going to use.
Some time later at the stadium near the Appeals Course building, it was once again a roaring crowd as they got ready for another Invitational battle, the first one of the second qualification round.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! It is another beautiful day here at the academy! We will have some high-octane Pokemon battling here for you today as we have the first battle of the second qualification round of the Pokemon Trainer's Academy Monarch Invitational Tournament!" Freddy George Jr. said.
The roaring crowd soon roared in excitement in that as the began to rapidly tap their feet on the pavement.
"For the second qualification round, all battles will be double battles meaning that both trainers will need to battle each other using two Pokemon at the same time!"
Soon the crowd once again roared as both Tyson and his opponent soon entered the stadium.
"Now to introduce our contestants, from Crimson City all the way in the Kanto region, it is Tyson Fisher!"
The crowd roared as Tyson soon struggled to see his friends in the stands but managed to find them as waved to them.
"And hailing from the Snowbelle City in the Kalos Region, it is Auston Foss!"
Tyson looked at his opponent and got a good look at him. He was fairly well built with a 6'5" frame and some well-developed muscles. His facial structure looked like he had been through some stuff and knew how to tank hits from pitiful opponents.
This was not going to be a easy victory for him.
"Trainers, let out your Pokemon!" The referee said to the both of them.
Tyson soon got his Pokemon ready.
"Growlithe and Scyther I choose you!"
Soon the Puppy and the Mantis Pokemon took center cage looking ready to battle for their trainer.
Auston smirked and soon sent out his Pokemon.
"Braxien and Sawk, take center stage!"
Soon both the Fire and Fighting-type Pokemon soon came out onto the field looking ready to battle.
Soon both pairs of Pokemon stared each other down as the referee began the battle.
"Growlithe use Flame Charge and Scyther use Air Slash!"
Soon both attacks were launched at the opposing Pokemon, but Auston simply commanded both Braixen and Sawk to dodge it.
"Now use Fire Blast and Brick Break respectively!" Auston commanded.
Soon the Fire Blast from Braxien was launched hitting Scyther square in the chest for super effective damage while Growlithe was launched back with Brick Break.
Tyson gritted his teeth seeing his Pokemon take damage and knew that this wasn't going to be easy.
Meanwhile, as this battle was going on. Marshal was going around the stadium checking out the spots for what he could consider to be vulnerable positions.
That was his mission after all.
However soon he turned his attention to the battle and couldn't help but see the resolve that one of the trainers was putting on.
Honestly, he might be worthy to recruit…
Back at the battle, Tyson was in a difficult position. Both of his Pokemon were being beaten down and it was looking not too good for him.
Both Braixen and Sawk were panting but still looked like they could battle on as Auston smirked.
"You sure you don't want to throw in the towel kid? No shame in forfeiting and sparing yourself the embarrassment." Auston taunted towards Tyson.
Tyson gritted his teeth hearing that.
"Trust me, me and my Pokemon haven't even started to battle!" Tyson said in to respond to his taunting.
That being said, he had a point. With the beating that his Pokemon had taken, it wouldn't take long until they were defeated.
So he needed to act fast.
"Alright then, Growlithe use Flamethrower and Scyther use Double Team!"
Soon Growlithe soon let out a pillar of fire that hit both Braixen and Sawk simultaneously as they fell backwards. And as soon as they got up, they saw various copies of Scyther surrounding them.
"Now use X-Scissor!"
Scyther and his copies soon use X-Scissor to deal another enormous amount of damage to both Pokemon once again.
"Braixen use Will-O-Wisp!"
Braixen soon out ghostly fire that seemingly hit both Growlithe and Scyther and inflicting them with burn damage.
"And now Sawk use Close Combat!"
Sawk soon got close and tried to use Close Combat to break them down but at the last second Tyson ordered Scyther to pick up Growlithe and fly up into the sky.
"Now Growlithe use Bite and Scyther use Air Slash!"
Scyther let go of Growlithe who managed to land the Bite on Braixen while Scyther used Air Slash on Sawk for super effective damage.
Both attacks did massive damage as both Pokemon went down, not completely defeated yet.
"Let's finish this! Use Fury Charge!"
As Tyson yelled out the combination attack, Growlithe soon charged forward with Flame Charge while Scyther charged forward with Fury Attack. Both attacks hit simultaneously as they knocked out both Braixen and Sawk.
"Both Braixen and Sawk are unable to battle! The winner of the battle is Tyson Fisher!"
Tyson soon celebrated his victory as he ran over to his Pokemon and celebrated with him as they nuzzled him.
But as he was celebrating, he saw from out of his eyes a small visage of Marshal who soon disappeared leaving him confused and bewildered amidst his excitement over his victory.
