The light completely disappeared from the room as the mechanical gate closed and all that remained was the all-consuming darkness that now stretched into every corner. But this did not last for long. A loud hissing sounded and the room was once again flooded with light in blue and green. It were the Jedi's lightsabers. More specifically, those of the order's twelve council members. They all formed a circle, wrapped in their brown robes, in the large, empty room with the patterned, orange mosaic floor. And Ken stood in their midst.

When he sleepily walked out of his room this morning, he was immediately informed by his, now former, master Kreia that he should get here immediately. And now, when he was standing among them, he knew exactly why. The big day had come. The peak of his career as a Jedi so far. He will be knighted now. And that as a just seventeen years old man.

But he couldn't say he felt ready for it yet. Quite the opposite. He already felt the pressure that would be on him forever from now on. This move could only mean that the Council was demanding something from him. Too much, in Ken's eyes. But he submitted to her decision. After all, it wasn't just any Jedi who chose him for this. They were the twelve most experienced and wisest members of the order. They were in close contact with the force and only they could therefore know what was right and what was wrong. These twelve Jedi embodied the will of the Force. So Ken knew he could trust them, even when he had doubts.

"Step forward, Padawan," the Order's Grand Master, Nomi Sunrider, told him. She pulled down her hood and her gorgeous auburn hair unfurled over her, considering her age, flawless face.

Ken did as he was told and took three steps in her direction before kneeling in front of her. The other masters' swords sank to the ground. Sunrider lowered her green blade once just above each of Ken's shoulders as she spoke, "Ken Rav. By the right of the Council, by the will of the Force dub thee, I do, Jedi." Shortly after those words were spoken, she made a precise movement with her lightsaber, neatly severing Ken's Padawan braid. It landed on the ground with one charred end.

"Knight of the Republic," she finished, Ken stood up and, after a curt bow, left the room with his first steps as a Jedi Knight, as a true protector of the Republic. The first feeling he felt in this new role was fear. Fear of failure and fear of not doing justice to this rank. However even in the darkness of fear in his heart there was a glimmer of hope. Hope to find what he had been looking for for years. Finally knowing where his place was. To finally become aware of his role and find his true purpose. Either way, he knew that his future life would be anything but boring.
