A\N: For the past few weeks I've been watching The Mentalist and it's sooo good. I'm currently on season 3 but I know that Jibson got married and Lisbon is pregnant (I searched it up on Google). This is just a little JIBSON fluff after the show has ended. I love how Jane found love with Lisbon while never forgetting how he'll always love Angela and Charlotte and I love how Lisbon accepted that.
In the JIBSON oneshot, Jane is having nightmares that history will repeat itself with Lisbon and his new baby. Enjoy, Angels.
Patrick Jane wakes up with sweat clinging to him, his breath coming out in pants. He had the nightmare again: the one where history repeated itself and Red John was alive and he took the lives of his wife and child, Teresa Lisbon and their daughter.
Ever since he and Lisbon got married only 3 months ago, and she told him about the pregnancy on their wedding day, he's been having these nightmares where he finds his girls dead in their house, exactly how he found Angela and Charlotte all those years ago. He hasn't told Lisbon about the nightmares because he doesn't want her to worry, not now at least.
"Jane?" Comes the sleepy voice of his wife. He curses internally before his wife's bedside light snaps on, illuminating their bed in a halo of silver light. "You okay?" She asks, sitting up, looking at him concerned. He knows he'll never get away with lying to her so he just shakes his head as tears fill his eyes. "Patrick?" Lisbon asks as she cups his face in her hands, forcing him to look at her in the eyes.
"I can't lose you two, Teresa, I can't lose you like I lost Angela and Charlotte." Patrick says as tears fall from his eyes. It feels good telling his wife his fears. His wife removes her hands from his face and hugs him.
"You're not going to lose us, Patrick. Red John is dead. Yes he murdered Angela and Charlotte, but he's dead and no one, no one, is going to take me and our daughter away from you, I won't let them. I promise you." Teresa says firmly, pulling out of the hug and kissing her husband deeply on his lips to make sure he's getting her message. They pull away from each other and simply stare at one another.
"No one will take us away from you." His beautiful wife repeats softly as she lays her head on his shoulder, Patrick kisses his wife's hair and puts a hand on her stomach, feeling their baby move.
Patrick sighs as he leans his head on top of his wife's and just closes his eyes.
"I love you, Teresa Lisbon Jane." He whispers before he falls back to sleep, dreaming about a future with his new wife and daughter, hearing "I love you too, Patrick Jane."
Teresa Libson Jane knew her husband was having nightmares but didn't call him out on them until he told her about them. She didn't want him shutting her out when he needed her the most. She meant what she told her husband: he wasn't losing her or their daughter. Her husband had lost more in a few years than some people did in a lifetime, and she'd be damned if he lost anymore.
She smiles when her husband puts his hand on her small bump and his head atop of hers and falls asleep with a little smile on his face. After telling him she loves him, she finds her own eyes drooping shut.
"I promise that you won't lose us, Jane." The wife of Patrick Jane says as she falls asleep, her mind sending her into dreams of her future with her husband and daughter.
A\N: Sorry this has been a short one, Angels. I woke up feeling like shit and was sleeping for most of the day and I spent all weekend catching up on my reading. Hope you all are doing well. My story Exhaustion reveals Secrets hasn't been forgotten, it's just taking me longer to finish the next chapter.
