SEPTEMBER 11TH 2023
Thunder started once again, rain racing down the windows, the flashes of lighting over the lake. The sound of seven children running towards their governess's bedroom could be heard, the third time this week. Maria thought after the month being filled with thunderstorms, the children would have been used to it by now, were they? No one knew. In one week there would be the biggest wedding, that Salzburg had seen in awhile. The children would be returning to school in two days. The family had chosen that for multiple reasons, one being so their children would be used to them being gone on their honeymoon.
Down in the study, Maria and Georg sat in each others arms. Their bodies close together as they kissed, as the music from the record player turned into sound. The couple could now hear the sounds of thunder and children running around the upstairs of the villa. 'Here we go again.' The captain muttered, not ready to let his fiancé go just yet. Hede and Max would be awake anytime soon. The captain's sibling had come to be chaperones for them. 'One more week, then she's mine.' Georg thought.
A knock and the door opening had the couple jumping apart. "You may want to see to them, Maria." The shadow had spoken. "You both know what would've happened if Hede had come down to find you both, now we both know i won't be doing anything of the sort." By now Maria had passed Max, she whispered 'goodnight', her cheeks bright red from being caught. She wished to look back at her future husband, his hair was now brushed back into place. The image of him with his top buttons on his shirt undone. She couldn't wait to be his. The thought of being called home for a job, in her mind every time she thought of being his.
When Maria had left the party, she flew home to London, the women had an email about an audition. Seeing her parents, siblings and friends after months of being in Austria. She loved it, but maybe not as much as she should? Maria Rainer was a musical theater performer, she had become known to most lovers of the art, after being in a musical named Heathers. Veronica Sawyer. Her dream roll, well one of them. She had just come out of university for performing, Guildford School Of Acting. Thinking her home was the stage, well until a family friend, Max, had called seeing if the women could fly over to be a governess for seven children for the summer. Now she'd found a new home. Would she ever get the call back? She wouldn't know, well not until the next morning.

The next morning, while sat around the table with her fiancé and his children, the young woman's phone pinged, her heart raced. She knew that tone, the tone she'd set for her agency. Faces turned towards Maria. Usually the women wouldn't have her phone at the table or even on loud but last night once she'd put the children to bed, after singing 'my favourite things' multiple times, she had a message from her agent. The message said 'Maria, we have news, be ready for our message in the morning then a phone call following.'
"Maria, darling, do you need to take that?" Georg asked from next to her, Maria's phone now ringing in that same tone, the sang 'BOSS' a song by a musical theatre girl band, who she'd become friends with just before coming to Austria. For the first time in her life no sound came out her mouth as she tried, she thought a nod would do. "My study is free." He added seeing her nodding.
The soon to be Baroness walked over to his study, phone in hand. Closing the door behind her, she answered the phone, putting the call onto speakers, "Hey Julia! So do we have news?" She grabbed her ipad from the coffee table setting it up in front of her, filming her 'just incase' she thought.
"Maria, we have had an offer for SIX, undercover Howard and Parr. In Austria, we know the roll was originally for the west end cast but they've just added Salzburg and they thought you would be perfect! Congratulations." Julia announced over the phone. "Do you accept? If so rehearsals start on the 29th of october!"
Maria had the biggest smile plastered on her face, she would never have thought she'd get her dream show, let alone it be in her new home. "I think we both know the answer! It's a yes, oh my! Wait Howard and Parr? I believe a cast mate from heathers just landed that roll as well. Please tell them I accept! Thank you julia." She exclaimed. Her heart racing even more, with excitement. She couldn't say no to this, she couldn't wait to tell her family.
Once she put the phone down and turned off her ipad. Maria practically ran towards the dining room, slowing down as she got to the door as she had the on her first night there, sitting next to Georg, the table was filled with confused faces well except Max's. He had known about the audition for awhile now.
"Are you going to sit there and tell us nothing?" Once again Brigitta noticed everything. The next question came from kurt, "We heard 'It's a yes, oh my!' not that we were listening or anything." Everyone laughed at his impression of Maria.
"Well, once me and your father-" She looked at Georg with a smile, "Get back from our honeymoon, i will be starting a new performing job. I believe you know the musical? Six?" The smile hadn't left her face until she saw the children's faces.
"You aren't leaving, again? Are you?"
