"So, what can you tell us about our surprise visitor, doc.?" Colonel Jack O'Neill, leader of SG 1 asked.

"Well, my exam shows a young man of approximately 17- 18 years of age. He's healthy, no evidence of disease or malnutrition, all the standard vaccinations. It was what else I found that is disturbing. Evidence of multiple healed fractures, and a large number of scars, many of them I would characterize as defensive. All of the healed fractures occured between 3 and 10 years ago."

"Someone abused him." Colonel O'Neill said grimly.

"That would be my conclusion, sir." Doctor Frazer agreed. "But there's more. He shares 50% of his DNA with someone on this base."

"Who?" General Hammond asked.

"Congratulations, Colonel O'Neill, it's a boy!"

"Doc, if that's a joke, it's not funny. I was married to Sara when this kid would have been conceived and I never cheated."

"That glow we saw may have indicated a reality shift, sir." Major Carter said.

"Meaning?"

"Meaning, he's your son in another reality. One where you weren't with Sara."

"Oh. So who is he?"

"According to his ID, he's Alexander Harris of Sunnydale, California, birthdate December 21st, 1981. Which would make him seventeen. And I think Sam's idea of a reality shift is accurate because there is no Sunnydale California, never has been as far we've been able to determine. And his prints aren't in the system."

"He most likely doesn't exist in this reality, so he won't suffer from entropic cascade failure." Major Carter added.

"Has he woken up yet, Doctor?" General Hammond asked.

"No, not yet and that worries me. I found no evidence of recent injury, nothing that could explain why he's unconscious. It's been over a day since he appeared and no sign of him waking up. We'll just have to monitor him."

"You do that Doctor. I'll make a report to the President. Dismissed."

Jack O'Neill sat in a chair in the infirmary watching the boy who was his son, sleep. He supposed he could see a resemblance, at least superficially. The boy was tall and lanky, he had dark brown hair and the doc said he had brown eyes. A discription that fit himself, so it was possible. He looked up as he heard a sound from the boy. "Cordy?"

"Doc, I think he's waking up!" Jack called. Dr. Frazer hurried over and began to check the young man. He opened his eyes. "Where am I?" He asked.

"You're in the infirmary." Dr. Frazer answered.

"Infirmary? Was I injured, ma'am?" He asked, politely.

"Ma'am?" She asked.

"Your rank insignia indicates Captain. Would you prefer I address you as Doctor?" He asked politely.

"You recognize her rank insignia, kid?" Colonel asked.

The boy glanced at him and said. "Yes, Colonel, I do."

Going on a hunch, Colonel O'Neill barked out a command. "Name and rank, soldier!"

"Private Harris, sir!" The boy answered.

"Under who's Command?"

"Colonel Newsome of the 33rd, sir!"

"What branch?"

"Army, sir!"

"What else can you tell me about yourself?"

The boy opened his mouth and then looked confused. "I don't know, sir. That seems to be all I know. I don't even know how old I am. What happened to me?"

"We're trying to figure that out. Just give us a little time, okay?"

"Yes, sir." And he closed his eyes and fell back asleep.

Dr. Frazer quickly examined him. "He's sleeping naturally, but he must be exhausted."

"Come on, doc. Let's go tell the General."

"Report, Colonel O'Neill."

"He woke up for a few minutes, sir. He identified himself as Private Harris of the 33rd, under a Colonel Newsome, with the Army, but that's all. He couldn't even remember how old he is."

"That may be a consequence of the reality shift." Major Carter said. "His memory may have been effected by it."

"Will it come back?" General Hammond asked.

"There's no damage to his brain, that I could find." Dr. Frazer. "It may, but the best way to treat someone with amnesia isn't available to us. It's treated by surrounding the victim with familiar people and objects. We don't have any of that here. Which decreases the likelihood of him regaining his memory."

"So he enlisted instead of going the officer route. I wonder why?" General Hammond asked. "Not to mention, joining the Army, instead of the Air Force."

"Well at least he didn't go Navy or worse, Coast Guard." Colonel O'Neill said. "But his ID says he's seventeen, so either kids can enlist younger in that reality, like they can in the Marines here or the date is different. I don't see him lying about his age just to enlist, unless they're at war or something."

"Well, let's continue to monitor him and hopefully we'll get some answers." General Hammond, just as an alarm sounded. Sargent Harriman came running in. "Sir, our visitor woke up. He saw Teal'C and attacked him. He was yelling the word demon."

"That's how alot the human cultures enslaved by the Goa'uld see them and the Jaffa." Dr. Jackson said.

"So, on some level, he recognizes Teal'C as a Jaffa." Colonel O'Neill said. "Has he been subdued?"

"That's proving a little difficult, sirs. Teal'C didn't want to hurt him, so he was being careful. Our visitor wasn't. He went for Teal'C's pouch, were he's vulnerable and made it past him. And the guards. None of them are dead or badly injured. But he's now loose on the base, sirs."

"I'm torn between being proud on behalf of my kid and annoyed at the guards and embarrassed for Teal'C." Was Colonel O'Neill's comment on the situation.
