Chapter 2
"Moonscar Island All Over Again"
I gotta tell you, seeing Beau again was a complete shock to us all, especially to me, Velma Dinkley. Up until that moment, we all thought that we would be following our own respective careers, but that wasn't the case.
Getting out the van, I followed Daphne and with Scooby and Shaggy following suit, I came up to the man I once deemed suspicious and as a suspect in the Moonscar Island case.
"Hey, Beau," I stammered, amazed that I was seeing him face to face again.
"Hello, Velma," he replied as we embraced for a brief moment. "How have you been?"
"Oh, here and there. What are you doing here?"
"Looking for someone like you," answered Beau. "Because we need your help."
It was apparent that he wanted us to help him with a mystery of his own. Being a detective myself in the paranormal and the supernatural, it was all there.
"Look, it's not overselling to say that we need to solve this mystery at Six Flags New Orleans," replied Beau's partner, a woman with red hair like Daphne and who had on a pair of glasses like me. "I'm Agent Neville's partner, Agent Barbara Gordon."
Hearing that Beau was an agent now was somewhat of a surprise to us all. Up until that moment, we all viewed him as a police detective.
"Agent?"
"Yes, I'm an agent now for the New Orleans branch of the FBI," Beau replied, pulling out his FBI badge while Barbara did the same. "We've been assigned to this case, and we thought that you would be willing to help us."
"Like what can we do to help?" Shaggy asked, feeling somewhat nervous about all of this. "This isn't a new level you want to pass along to Eric, right?"
Beau developed a confused look on his face upon hearing this, having never been told of how we now had a video game patterned after our old adventures.
"Who's Eric?"
"We'll explain later," said Daphne with a small chuckle.
…
Going into the house, we all gathered around the fireplace as Beau relayed what was happening.
"So, these disappearances, how long have they been happening?" Daphne asked.
"For about a month now," Beau sighed, taking a sip of coffee that we had made for him and ourselves. "And despite the warnings that the mayor put in about staying out of the park, people still keep going in. At some point, we even found body parts floating in the center of the lake."
Shaggy and Scooby, clearly sickened by what was just said, both ran out to vomit up their latest snack. Bear in mind that if this was your first time following our adventures, you will undoubtedly understand that Shaggy and Scooby have big appetites and weak stomachs.
"Body parts?"
"Yes, the center of the lake is filled with alligators and body parts are just washing up on the shores of the lake. Sometimes the body parts are fresh and some are stinking rotten like they have been in there for days or even weeks or even months."
Beau then handed us a set of pictures and without getting into too much detail, each picture told a story, a story of a person who went into the park and never came out alive.
"Well, have…have the New Orleans police done anything?" asked Daphne.
"They tried by themselves, but after Six Flags took all the security cameras with them, it's now more difficult to pinpoint just exactly where just the exact location of the victims were," answered Beau. "Agent Gordon and I can't help but wonder if that there are ghosts about in the park, they could possibly be from the Moonscar Island incident or something else."
"Why would Six Flags take their security cameras?" asked Fred.
"Because they are company property, I guess and I don't think that they want to lose a camera like we did," answered Daphne, still bitter over losing her camera footage in the quicksand on Moonscar Island.
It was clear to all of us that Beau and his partner had nowhere else to turn to aside from us.
"Beau, you can rest assured that we will do everything we can to help with this investigation," Fred said. "If it is a ghost or someone pretending to be a ghost, then you've come to just the right people."
Extending his hand out, Fred and Beau shook hands and confirming that we were joining forces with the FBI.
Just then, Shaggy and Scooby came back from releasing their snack.
"Like, what did we miss?" he asked.
"Scooby, Shaggy," I said. "How do you feel about going back to New Orleans?"
"Huh?" Scooby wondered.
"We've got a mystery to solve at the abandoned Six Flags theme park down there."
Of course, Scooby and Shaggy balked.
"Like, abandoned theme parks aren't our thing!" Shaggy protested along with Scooby, but I had something to change their minds.
"Well, why not do it for a Scooby Snax?" I asked, but both man and dog didn't budge. "Okay, how about two Scooby Snax? Or even a whole box of Scooby Snax?"
Quickly, their minds were changed. The truth of the matter is that anything related to food or even better, Scooby Snax, as you know would immediately get Shaggy and Scooby on board.
"Like count us in then," Shaggy said and that was that. Everyone was on board with this latest mystery.
…
Now, I'm pretty sure you are wondering why we are switching narrators in this story? Well, because we all wanted to take a turn telling the story on account that everything we do at Mystery Inc is a group effort. Yes, each and every one of us had a part to play in the story like any other mystery, but…
"Evil laugh heard in background."
…Let's just say that we may have made a new mortal enemy, but we'll get to him later. For now, on with the story.
