AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Hello friends! I love Auslly as much as every other A&A fan does, but I also like to experiment with other characters and other ships and even friendships. While I'm not a Trez shipper per se, I do really like their dynamic and their friendship. They're as hilarious with each other as they are unique.
Also, this fic is inspired by a Big Bang Theory episode. You know, the one where Sheldon takes care of Penny after she falls and hurts herself in the shower? Big Bang Theory is also a show I really like to watch. Anyway, I'm gonna stop rambling. Onto the fic!
Dez Wade just lounges around in his apartment, binge-watching The Walking Dead and eating pizza. Carrie Lainfield, his fiancé, is at a wine tasting in Homestead with her sister, Piper. He is just about to take the pizza box to the trash chute, when he hears a loud thud followed by an ear-piercing scream from across the hall. He hears that it's his friend, Trish De La Rosa.
"OW. HOLY FUCKING HELL. DEZ! DEZ! DEZ!"
She screams from across the hall. Dez texts her,
"I'm on my way!"
He sees that the door is shut and knocks on it, and then turns the knob and discovers that the door is unlocked.
"Trish? Trish? Where are you?"
Trish says,
"In the bathroom! Please, Dez, I need your help!"
He finds the girl screaming for him, laying on the floor of the shower, naked. Her long, black wavy-curly hair is soaking wet and she has large, noticeable bruises on her left backside, her left hip, her left knee and her thigh. He is engaged to a girl he loves, and Trish is fully undressed, but he doesn't care. She is screaming bloody murder and needs help and he wants to help her.
Dez asks her,
"Trish, what happened? Are you OK?"
She says,
"No. No, I'm not. I slipped in the shower and I fell really hard. I think I dislocated my shoulder."
He starts taking pictures on his phone and she asks him,
"Dez, why the hell are you taking pictures?!"
Dez says,
"For evidence. You gotta see a doctor, Trish."
Dez helps her stand up and she screams,
"Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow."
Dez tells her,
"I'm sorry."
She says,
"Dez, it's not your fault."
"Do you need me to call an ambulance?"
Trish says,
"I don't think I can wait that long. I think you should take me to the ER."
"OK."
Dez hands her her robe and he helps her stand up. He hands her clothes, gets her dressed, gives her a cold compress, and he carries her like a bride to his car, and he puts her in the passenger seat.
"I'm sorry you had to see me naked, Dez."
He says,
"Trish, you know what? I don't care that I had to see you naked. It's a small price to pay because you hurt yourself."
"Ally's seen me naked before. I went bra shopping with her in the fifth grade. And Austin's seen me topless because of that time in high school when I sent him a topless photograph when I meant to send it to Jace."
Jace is Trish's boyfriend. He and Trish also live together, but he's back in Albuquerque for a funeral. Trish couldn't go because she had work.
Dez says,
"At least it's me and not he who shall not be named."
"Holy shit, yes. Chuck McCoy seeing me naked would be a nightmare."
Chuck McCoy was a pervert who Dez and Trish went to high school with. He had a reputation for acting inappropriately with many girls at their school, from Trish's best friend Ally Dawson, to Carrie and Trish especially was his favorite target to treat like a sex object. Chuck had actually been expelled and confined to jail for kidnapping Trish, raping her, and forcing her into child pornography. He had served seven years in jail, but he is still on the sex offender registry.
In the waiting room of the ER, Dez fills out a questionnaire for Trish.
"Patricia Maria De La Rosa is your full name. July 1, 1997 is your date of birth. Hispanic is your race, and you speak English and Spanish."
he tells her and continues to fill out the questionnaire for her. He asks her,
"How's your shoulder, Trish?"
She says,
"It feels like I've been hit with a bowling ball with it."
"I'm sorry,"
he tells her.
"Not your fault, Dez."
She hears Dez's phone in his pocket and he picks it out of his pocket and he's getting a FaceTime request from Trish's boyfriend, Jace Dillon. Dez says,
"Hey Jace!"
Jace says,
"Hi, Dez. Is Trish OK? I tried calling to check on her, but she didn't answer her phone. I was gonna call to see if you could check up on her."
Trish asks,
"Can I talk to him?"
Dez hands her his phone and she says,
"Hi, baby. I miss you."
Jace tells her,
"I miss you, too, Trish. Where are you right now?"
"The Emergency Room. I slipped and fell in the shower and Dez drove me here."
Jace tells her,
"Oh my god. Trish, are you OK?"
"Well, my shoulder is hurting like a bitch, but it's not life threatening or anything like that."
"I'm sorry, Trish. I promise, when I come home tomorrow night, I'll be taking care of you and waiting on you hand and foot."
"Thank you, Jace."
"You know I'm going to take care of you, babe. And Dez, thanks for helping her out. I owe you big time. Whatever it costs, tell me, and I'll reimburse you when I get back."
Dez says,
"Glad I could help. And thanks, I'll let you know about that. But don't worry about that for now."
Eventually, Trish's name is called in by an x-ray tech to get examined with Dez by her side. He gives her an apron and takes her x-rays.
He asks her,
"How did this happen?"
Trish says,
"I slipped and fell in the shower. My left side is pretty bruised, my hip and knee hurt when I walk, but they don't hurt nearly as bad as my shoulder does."
Dez shows him the photos of her bruises on his phone.
He turns to Dez.
"Are you her husband, her boyfriend?"
Dez says,
"Actually, no. I'm just her friend. I live down the hall from her and her boyfriend is away and I heard her fall and scream and I came in to check in on her."
"OK. Since you fell, does you head hurt at all?"
"I did hit it, but not nearly as hard."
"You're not acting confused, but we should check to see if you have any bumps or a concussion, too."
"OK."
After two and a half hours, a female doctor comes over and she says,
"Are you Patricia De La Rosa?"
Trish says,
"Yes I am."
"Your x-rays and your concussion results are in."
She asks her,
"What are the results?"
The doctor tells her,
"You have no concussion or bump on your head, but you do have a bit of bruising. Nothing to be concerned about. As for your shoulder, Ms. De La Rosa, your upper arm bone popped out of the cup-shaped socket that's part of the shoulder blade, and you sustained an anterior dislocation in your left shoulder. In other words, you dislocated your shoulder."
She says,
"I knew it. My shoulder hurts."
"I'm sorry, sweetheart. Just apply ice or heat every 20 minutes at a time, avoid any heavy lifting, and depending on how long it takes to heal, you could need surgery and/or physical therapy."
She gives her a shoulder sling and applies it to the girl's shoulder.
"Here. Leave this on for about six weeks and apply ice. Here is a prescription for an anti-inflammatory meds. Take them every eight hours, but not at night. They can keep you from sleeping. Come in if you have any of the side effects on the sheet."
The doctor also gives her a muscle relaxer.
"This should help the pain for about twelve hours."
Trish says,
"OK, thank you."
She takes the muscle relaxer.
"She'll be loopy for a couple of hours and make sure she doesn't drive or operate heavy machinery."
At Trish's apartment, Dez helps the injured girl in and she can't stop laughing.
"Is this room spinning? It looks kinda funny."
"I don't think so. Come on, let's get you to bed so you can rest."
Trish says,
"To bed? But it's only 8:00 PM."
Dez says,
"Trish, you're loopy. You have to rest it off."
"Oh, OK. Will you carry me?"
Dez says,
"OK, fine."
He carries her on his shoulder and places her onto her bed. She starts to laugh again and she says,
"Hey, whatever your name is, I have something to tell you. I think I have superpowers."
She then proceeds to laugh again.
"My name is Dez, we've known each other since we were in High School. And you don't have superpowers."
She erupts in laughter and then he takes out his phone and proceeds to record her on his phone. He says,
"Hi, Trish."
Trish says,
"Hey, um, what's your name? I have to ask, are you a virgin?"
He says,
"No. No, I'm not. How do you feel?"
Trish laughs and says,
"Well, that muscle relaxer tasted like a lemon mixed with tequila. Kinda sour and kind of bitter. Am I gonna end up on YouTube?"
Dez says,
"If you want me to, I can put this on YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok, you name it."
The injured girl says,
"OK, go ahead. I wanna break the internet."
She then proceeds to laugh again.
"Will you sing me a song?"
Dez says,
"Sure, what do you want to hear?"
"Rock N' Roll all nite by KISS."
He proceeds to sing to her,
"You show us everything you've got
You keep on dancin' and the room gets hot
You drive us wild, we'll drive you crazy
You say you wanna go for a spin
The party's just begun, we'll let you in
You drive us wild, we'll drive you crazy
You keep on shoutin', you keep on shoutin'"
and she joins in by singing,
"I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day
I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day
I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day
I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day."
Dez says,
"I'm gonna spend the night here so I can get you what you need, OK, Trish."
Trish says,
"That's very sweet, you weird looking Ron Weasley ET person."
She then proceeds to laugh again, while Dez fluffs her Blissy pillowcase covered pillow and turns on the fan and the AC to help keep her body cool and covers her eyes with a silky eye mask and leaves her door open.
In the middle of the night, Trish feels nauseous and runs to the bathroom and spills a lake of vomit in the toilet. Dez stands outside the door and he asks,
"Trish, are you retching in here?"
She says,
"No, I'm shitting bricks. Of course I'm vomiting. I feel sick."
Dez asks her,
"Are you OK?"
She says,
"Yeah, I'm fine. What happened last night?"
He tells her,
"You slipped and fell in the shower and you hurt your shoulder and the doctor gave you a muscle relaxer and you were very loopy."
He shows her the video and she says,
"Shit. That was a strong muscle relaxer."
Dez says,
"It was."
She says,
"Dez, thank you for taking care of me."
He says,
"You're welcome. I hope your shoulder heals fast."
Jace returns home from his funeral at noon that day and Dez says jokingly,
"She's your problem now."
Jace asks her,
"How are you feeling, baby girl?"
Trish says,
"I'm fine. I'm gonna need you, Jace."
He says,
"Whatever you need, I'm here for you, mi vida."
