Chapter One: Empire City Disaster

Jason has been in this city for a little while. He came to Empire City to reintegrate into society after his training with Sensei and the All-Caste. However, because of his attempts to stay informed and familiarizing himself with the city and terrain, he forgot some essentials, like a place to stay, causing him to currently bum it on the streets.

Right now, Jason was resting in an alley near it's entrance in the evening as the sun was about to set. A sudden vibration in is pocket let him know he had got a message. He knew it was from Talia because she gave him the phone.

{On my way to your location} it read.

Sighing, he put the phone away.

Talia has been helping him out a lot since he came back to life, possibly even more so than her so called 'beloved'. Even after having a son and claiming it was Bruce's, Jason had some doubts in her statement.

Deciding to survey the area, Jason stepped out of the alley and came across a curious sight.

A man with a shaved head who appeared a little older than Jason. He wore a black and yellow-orange jacket, similar to Jason's leather jacket. The Man also had pants with a white stripe down his right leg that formed a union jack of sorts at the knee, along with a sling pack on his back.

But the thing that made it a curious sight was the metal sphere in said man's hands. Jason could also see how confused he was with the device.

"Cole!", a female voice called out.

Both Jason and the now named Cole looked in the direction it came from to see a young sandy blonde woman waving at Cole.

"Amy?", Cole said to himself but loud enough for Jason to hear.

Suddenly, the sphere in Cole's hands splits open, a blue energy radiating from the device. jason immediately ran to him to stop it's sequence. He didn't know what it did but had an idea of its destructive power from his experience as Robin.

Just as Jason put his hands on the sphere to to try and disarm it, it released it's stored energy, knocking the duo unconscious from the blast.

Minutes Later

"Hey kid, you alright, can you get up", a voice rang out in the darkness of Jason's mind.

He felt someone shaking him like what Alfred would sometimes do to wake him at the manor.

He suddenly opened his eyes and jolted up into a sitting position. He then quickly realized the pain he was in.

"You alright? Can you move?", the same voice asked. Looking to it, Jason saw Cole standing near him, hunched over in pain and looking a little burned. Jason doubted he looked much better himself.

"Yeah", Jason replied to Cole as he grunted and got to his feet, "I'm good, for now".

"Someone is alive down there." the two heard from overhead, "Hey, look up if you can hear me", the duo look to the hovering helicopter above them, "ig you can walk, get out of there, head for the bridge!".

The helicopter turn to it's right shining it's spotlight to the parking garage, "Hey you, in the garage, get the hell out of there, the whole thing's coming down".

"Come on kid, we need to move", Cole says.

Jason nodded, "Yeah".

The two injured men begin moving pretty fast despite their injuries. Cars and gas lines were exploding as they made their way around to a ledge and a bus.

"Cole, Cole, Man, are you there? C'mon, Man. Pick up", a voice sounded from Cole's phone. Jason was surprised to see it still working.

"Zeke? What the hell is going on? I think there was an explosion", Cole said into the phone.

'No shit', Jason thought, he knew explosions, though this is the first time he survived being in the blast radius.

"No shit there was an explosion! TV says terrorists are blowing stuff up all over the city.", Zeke explains over the phone, "Meet me at the Fremont Bridge. We'll get Trish and hunker down".

Once the call ends, the two hear a voice, "Cole!"

The see Amy by the parking garage ramp and the duo rush over to her. "Amy, are you alright?", Cole asked, hand on her shoulder.

"I'll be fine, the police said to head to the bridge, so lets go.", Amy says, before heading up the ramp.

They climb over the car into the garage, with Cole in the lead before an busted transformer sent electricity into Cole, "Awww!", before it stopped.

"Cole!", Amy shouts, rushing to his side to check on him.

"I'm... fine", Cole replied to her, standing up a little straighter.

"You sure, man?", Jason asks, not really believing him.

"Yeah, let's go", he says, and the trio move forward through the garage.

A car falls through a hole above them and explodes alittle, so they go around it. More cars fall has they head to a ramp to their right. As they get to it, a car falls and explodes on the ramp and it collapses.

Jason soon sees a pillar kinda connecting the broken garage and says, " come on you two".

The trio head there, with Jason crossing first and jumping over the small gap, with Cole doing the same. Amy goes to cross and after some hesitation, jumps. But somehow clears the rest of the pillar and lands before the two men.

"What the...?" Cole goes before Jason cut him off, "Whatever, lets go".

The three survivors run around the bend before COle is electrocuted again, "Augh!", this time a burst of electricity surrounded the area in front of them causing a car to explode and the floor to collapse to form a ramp to ground level.

"What's happening to me?", Cole asked himself, neither Jason or Amy really knowing, though Jason had an idea.

The three head down the new ramp before another police announced, "If you are able to walk, please evacuate across the bridge into the Neon. Remain calm, Emergency personnel are en route".

Jason, Cole and Amy get down onto the street and make their way to the bridge, passing some police officers and other injured people.

"Cole! Over here, man! We got to go!", a chubby man looking a little like Elvis in jeans called from halfway across the bridge, whom Jason assumed was Zeke

The trio go across but Cole is once more electrocuted, "Oh, No!", Cole exclaimed, "No, No!".

Suddenly, lightning was striking around him, hurting anyone to close. Jason and Amy began rushing across the bridge. Cole following a little bit behind, the lightning striking the bridge and it was beginning to fall apart.

"Oh, No. It's the terrorists. Run for it, Cole.", Zeke called out. The trio move across as Zeke called out, "Move your ass man, the whole bridge is coming down!"

"Cole! Amy!", Zeke calls out.

Cole stops releasing electricity and looks like he's about to pass out. Jason goes to help him, grabbing his arm. Next thing Jason knew, electricity was flowing into him and the two pass out. Amy joining them into unconsciousness.

Jason's mind

Jason could almost hear the voices of the dying before he sees Cole in a college classroom. Next was him biking around as a courier to piss off is parents. Then shows parkour skills across Empire City and New Marai. The visions are then drowned out by lightning before it fades to black.

Neon district hospital

Jason awakens in a hospital to see an awoken Cole unleashing electricity again with Zeke and a brunette medic screaming in shock. The bolts of electricity die out again.

"What the hell was that man?!", Zeke asked. The brunette got close to Cole, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder, "Cole?"

"I-I don't...", Cole stammered, having trouble comprehending the situation.

Jason took the time to speak up, "I'm pretty sure the blast gave him powers over electricity".

The three older people in the room looked to Jason, surprised to see him up as well, before the woman asked, "Are you alright?"

"Yeah, just a little out of it", Jason replied as he got up, he went to grab the IV stand next to him before lightning bolted from his hand and blew it away. Cole, Zeke and the woman back away in surprise, while Jason looked at the stand and his hand.

"You too, kid?", Cole asked.

"Not till now", Jason replied. He didn't show any electricity problems after the blast till now. the last thing Jason remembered before passing out was... grabbing Cole. Another thing was that his lightning was red while Cole's was a light blue

"Um, Trish, how is Amy? She was with us from the blast to the bridge.", Cole inquired the brunette, who Jason now knew was Trish.

"Yeah he's fine. But..." Trish paused, "she also has been showing signs of freaky stuff".

"What do you mean, Trish?", Zeke asked, as he hasn't seen her sine he's been with COle the entire time he was knocked out.

Trish sighs and leaves the room, the dude trio following behind, with Jason and Cole in scrubs.

They enter a room with only one person, Amy. She was asleep and strapped down like what was done to violent patients.

"What's going on with her?" Jason asked.

"Well..." Trish goes before unstrapping the dirty blonde from her bed.

The younger female began floating to the ceiling, turning every which way.

"She started floating like a balloon", Trish finished.

"Whoa", Cole muttered in disbelief.

Suddenly, Amy opened her eyes, "Huh", before then falling back to the bed, "Aah!".

"Amy!", Trish closed in on her, "Are you hurt?", she asked as she held onto the younger woman.

"What? Trish? I'm fine. Why?", Amy says, a little confused by what was going on.

"The blast gave us superpowers", Jason states, "No way to sugarcoat it". With the three eldest looking to him, before nodding in acceptance.

"Really?", Amy asks, excitement leaking into her voice.

Cole, Zeke, and Trish all nodded.

"Whoo!", She cheered before rising to the ceiling again, "Augh".

"Amy!", Trish shouted, worried for her sister.

"I'm good", she replied, before standing up, on the ceiling, "Uh".

She was now looking at her sister upside down.

"Amy, you good?", asked Zeke.

"Currently wondering why gravity is pulling me in the wrong direction", she replies before falling again.

This time, Cole and Zeke caught her before she landed on the floor.

"Jesus, Amy! You alright?", Trish says, helping Amy to her feet.

"Yeah that was weird", Amy replied. keeping a hold on Trish and Zeke so she doesn't fall up again.

"So she has control over gravity?", Jason states, the others looking to him for an explanation, "she just said it was like gravity was pulling her in the wrong direction".

"So Amy has gravity powers, while Cole and you have electric powers?", Zeke asked, both in shock and excitement.

"...Yeah", Jason said, unsure if their was more to his power set than electricity.

Afterwards

Zeke and Trish went on to explain how the city went to hell while the three empowered individuals were unconscious. The government declared the city hazardous and quarantine it, no one in or out, not even the Justice League. Many police were either dead or too scared to keep order, with new gangs taking control of the distracts.

The trio decided to train their powers to better protect themselves, with Jason able to handle it better due to prior training with Bruce and the League.

About a week after the blast, Jason was helping Amy with training where he ended up grabbing her hand and these seismic shakes went through their arms into Jason. COle and Zeke had closed in on them as the two passed out.

Jason's mind

Jason began to see flashes of Amy growing up with Trish, as she explained how she loved her sister and how they both cared about helping and protecting others. Jason then saw what looked like a black hole before it cut out.

Afterwards

Both Amy and Jason awaken with Cole and Zeke standing above them and Trish checking their vitals.

Amy was fine but Jason soon shown signs of gravity control like Amy, his being a purple color unlike Amy's white. After some time it was confirmed that Jason's actual power was Power Absorption, copying other people's powers onto himself. They also discovered what common powers they all shared as the days went on.

These powers were enhanced physical attributes. Enhanced strength, durability, endurance / stamina, speed, and agility then before. They also shown to have a Healing factor, showing little to no scarring from the blast and getting shot at.

They continue to train their powers into week 2 of quarantine.

14 days into Quarantine

"I thought you were going t watch TV", Cole says to Zeke on their roof top home. Jason was tightening the tarps that he decided to put up encased it rained so Cole and other electrical things wouldn't fry. Cole would involuntary discharge in water so he had to take sponge baths, Jason was fine though.

Cole was wearing a version of what he wore during the blast. He wore a yellow and black courier track jacket, cargo pants with a union jacket design at the knee on his right leg with a side bag on his left leg, with greyish shoes and black fingerless gloves. Cole also had a sling backpack with the Sly Cooper symbol, his phone strapped on it near his left shoulder.

"Batteries are dead again... you mind putting on a freakshow?", Zeke replies, laying on the couch of the roof.

Zeke are the same thing as the day of the blast. He wore sunglasses with a black tint and a golden frame, a black coat with a dirty yellow undershirt, and several holsters for his ammunition and the pistol he carried. For his lower attire, he wore some light gray pants, with knee pads (one of them having a star design), and some black sneakers.

"Sure, glad its good for something", Cole says, his electricity danced around his arms.

"Probably need to charge them all", Jason called out as he finished with his selfmade task.

"TV's a hog", Zeke continued for Jason.

Jason charged one next to himself while Cole charge the two on the other side of the fence near the furniture.

Jason wore a black hoodie over a red shirt with dark blue jeans and yellow black sneakers. The sleeve were pushed up and he had a watch on his left wrist. He also wore a sling bag but with a dual birds star symbol, blue left and red right.

"Whoo-ho, Nice job guys. Boob tube's workin!", Zeke called out with Jason and Cole came up on the sides of the couch.

"Weird, feels like I got more power", Cole states to Jason and Zeke. Jason could agree, he also felt more powerful.

"Yeah? Why don't you two try frying the dummies back there.", Zeke says, "With all the nut-balls runnin' around. It'd be nice to know how much juice you're packin'."

Cole and Jason quickly shot bolts at the dummies with Zeke cheering them on.

After frying the dummies, the trio felt the environment shake before seeing a cargo plane in the sky, flying from the south over them.

"Whoo, you see that? Flyin' so low, thought it was going to crash into us!", Zeke says aloud.

"Wasn't that low", Jason says to Zeke.

"Huh, yeah", Zeke whined a little.

The TV then glitched out some.

"Hey, it's the TV jacker. I love this guy!", Zeke states before the TV cuts to a bright blurry guy over a red background.

"Just got word that the feds dropped some relief packages into Archer Square." the TV sounded, "the liars in the corporate media we are going to get are fair share. That more is coming? Heh, that's easy for them to say. Their not the one's living in this hellhole. The truth is that we've been abandoned and no one is coming to save us. So head over to Archer Square before the Reapers show up. Voice of Survival out!"

"Told you they'd drop food", Cole says to Zeke.

"Man, ou must be outta your mind. You think any of those pencil-necks gives a crap about us? This is a PR stunt.", Zeke replies, as he gets up from the couch.

"That isn't going to stop you from pigging out, though, is it?", Jason asks him.

"Hell no it ain't! Zeke's gotta eat!" Zeke exclaims.

"You take the stairs. Jason and I will be taking the express elevator", Cole says.

"Man. You two get to have all the fun", Zeke complained before the super duo jumped off the rooftop into the sidewalk below.

A minute or two later, Zeke runs up to them.

"Whoo, that was one hell of a jump, guys.", Zeke pants out, "Wish I could do something like that. Runnin' down all those stairs, that sucks donkey balls".

The trio begin to move before Zeke says, "Hey, before we head over to Archer, I need to pick up a new sic shooter".

"Here we go...', Cole moans.

"Nah, that was badass. The second you touched it, the electricity in her hands sparks the gun powder and the whole thing goes KA-BAM! The look n your face was priceless.", Zeke says with a laugh.

"Damn near blew my hand off", Cole rebuttals.

"Which is why you won't be touching the new one.", Zeke continues, "Traded this guy one of my Homemade batteries for it".

"The ones that explode when you use 'em?", Jason asks.

"Hell, he doesn't now that.", Zeke says, "C'Mon, told me he was going to leave the gun in a parking lot a few blocks from here". With them running off with Zeke in the lead.

"Man, you know what I miss? Pizza. A big sloppy slice drippin' with grease and pepperoni. And payday. Havin' a big was of bills in your pocket." Zeke says as they run t the parking lot.

"I'd settle for some hot water", Cole replies.

"Hey, Cole, remember that time we were comin' home from Duffy's and I had to take a leak? And that bike cop was yelling at me to put up my hands?", Zeke says.

"You pissed all over him", Cole finished, a chuckle escaping his lips. Jason laughing some as well.

"He told me to put up my hands! While he's fumblin' around, I jump in and we take off. Haha, Awesome!", Zeke says.

"Yeah, awesome. till we run into a wall of cops.", Cole continues.

"Like I said, awesome! Bummer we won't be able to do anything like that again", Zeke mourns.

"Not unless someone invents a car that doesn't explode when I sit in it", Cole replies. Jason was already thinking of ways to do it with plastic and rubber to insulate cole from the gas and batteries.

They arrive at the parking lot only to see it filled with cars.

"Ah c'mon... he told me he was going to leave it under a car, i figured there'd be only one", Zeke complained.

Jason went to look under the cars before Cole says, "Stand back. I got an idea".

Cole then used the Electric Shockwave, that they've worked on to blow the cars away, leaving only Zeke's new gun.

"Hahahaha, Hellacious! hell, I didn't know you could do somethin' like that", Zeke exclaims as he gets his gun.

"There was this surge...", Cole says but was suddenly dreary.

"Hey Man, you don't look so hot", Zeke notes.

"He must be drained...", Jason says.

"Hang on a sec...", Cole says before draining a electric box on the wall for his own reserves.

"Man, you're a walking battery! You guys need to recharge whenever you fire to much juice.", Zeke says.

"It can also heal the user when done", Jason says as he did this during the training.

"This rocks so hard", Zeke says, "C'mon, let's haul ass over to Archer Square 'fore someone takes all the brewskis."

They run off again as Cole gets a call from Trish. She checks in on them while talking about the food that came in, Amy and herself will be heading their soon.

The trio enter Archer Square only to see the care package was stuck on the statue.

"Whew, boy that's stuck up there. Hate to say it pals, but your the only guys here who'd live from a fall like that. gotta climb up there and knock that stuff free.", Zeke explains while looking up at the statue.

Jason and Cole jump onto the statue's platform before climbing a thick cable behind it up to a broken piece of the statue. they run and jump along these platforms and beams to the crates.

Jason sees the broken harness and fires on it, with Cole following his example. It breaks and the crates fall to the ground.

"Yeah, we are eatin'!", Zeke exclaims. People approaching the crates for the food.

"Damn, to late", Jason says, seeing people in red with guns show up. This was the first time the seen the Reapers. They were former junkies and drug dealers before the blast but they now own the Neon District, taking whatever they want. That changes now.

The Civilians run out of the square with Zeke hiding nearby as the Reapers close in.

Jason and Cole jump from the statue and unleash a Thunder Drop on the Reapers, blowing them away from the crates.

The duo shot some bolts at them, taking out the gunman. "Brutal", Zeke called out

Up close, Jason and Cole added electricity to their punches and kicks.

"There's more on the way", Zeke says while shooting at approaching Reapers. The trio quickly taking care of them.

"Well that's the last of them. It's chow time", Zeke says as he headed for the boxes of food. Cole considered taking more boxes than necessary but decided against it, not wanting others to starve.

"I got one open, let's eat", one of the civilians called out. With more people grabbing things.

This is when Trish and Amy arrive.

Tish wore a long sleeve, white medic shirt, with a yellow emergency jacket tied to her waist. She had on blue jeans and white shoes. She had a satchel hanging from her right to left that held her radio and a crash kit on the opposite hip. She was also almost always wearing latex gloves.

Amy wore brown cargo pants, a white t-shirt, Purple jacket and hairband, and white shoes.

"Hey, girls", Jason says, with a little wave.

"Trish", Cole says.

"I'm so glad you got the food down", Amy says with a smile.

"These poor people are starving", Trish says with a congrats to Cole.

"Just doing what I can", Cole says with his own smile.

"Someone had to help them", Jason says looking over the crowd.

"Those idiots dropped us canned prunes.", Zeke complained, "Now who the hell'd want to eat this crap?"

Just then, the jumbotron by the square came to life, showing the Voice of Survival.

"Take a good look at this Empire City", before the screen showed Cole holding the device behind the blast with Jason running on the scene, "The photo you're seeing was taken by security camera near Ground Zero."

"Hey guys, your up on the big screen", Zeke says to Jason and Cole.

"These are the men that ruined are lives. Someone in your family died, well now you know who to blame. If you know anything about these two, let me know, because we're gonna get the word out n these terrorists. We're gonna make them pay!"m The Voice said before the transmission ended.

The quintet looked at each other, with Trish and Zeke giving Jason more of a weird eye than Cole. By then, people near by were starting to recognize the two from the screen, this could get ugly.

"Let's meet at Stampton Bridge, Go!", Cole says before running. Zeke went around the square and Amy used her powers to carry Trish with her down the street.

Jason followed Cole, not wanting to lose them in the city, cause right now he's sort on friends.

A block north of Stampton Bridge

Jason and Cole arrived at the corner just before the bridge entrance. They only waited a little longer for Trish and Amy to appear, not long after Zeke showed up.

"Stampton Bridge", Zeke says as he and the rest looked to the bridge entrance, "the fastest way out of town. That is, if you can get past those baton-wielding goons".

"Jason and I need to get out of here, one way or another", Cole says, preparing to fight his way through.

"I can't go", Trish says in mourning, "I can't leave these people here when I can help".

Cole and Amy looked to Trish, ready to argue but Jason cut it off.

"Alright, why don't the Girls stay here to help, with Amy protecting Trish and other medical personnel while us guys break through the bridge to get more help with the city", Jason explains his plan.

This seemed to please everyone involved before the girls ran off. The guys look to Stampton Bridge and prepared for a break in quarantine.

"Alright, Follow my lead", jason says before the trio run forward.

Chapter End

AN: Jason will have Delsin's powers and replace him in the timeline, this is why Jason will be 17 during the first 2 games with Cole and this takes place in the later half of 2016. Reggie will be his cousin and he'll meet and hang with him after New Marai.
