Chapter 4

Day Off

This school year has been a great start for Molly and her friends so far. Throughout the last couple of weeks, Molly still didn't get anymore information about the Frightmares from the Ghost Council, so she spent most of her time focusing on her school work. A couple of weeks had passed before they all got a day off.

To spend their day off together, Molly and her friends decided to go to the fair together. It hadn't been too long since the last time Molly and Libby had been to the fair together. It make them hope that Jinx won't hunt them down like last time.

Once they were ready, Ollie and June decided to visit the McGees. The siblings didn't want their parents to walk with them to the house since they didn't want to risk their parents finding out about Scratch. After saying goodbye to their parents, Ollie and June headed over to the McGee's house. They knocked on the door before being greeted by Molly.

"Hi! It's so good to see you two!" Molly happily greeted.

"It's good to see you too, Molly! Is Darryl here?" June asked.

Molly nodded. "Yes, he should be in his room! Come on in!"

With that, Molly let Ollie and June in the house. While June was hanging out with Darryl, Molly and Ollie decided to catch up.

"So, how have things been going at your house?" Molly asked.

"Oh, you know! Still working on convincing my parents that ghosts aren't really evil!" Ollie replied. "How are things with you and Libby?"

"They are going great! Libby and I are still using our adorable couple nicknames for each other! Libby is just so perfect with coming up with names!" Molly let out a dreamy sigh.

"I'm sure she is!" Ollie chuckled before noticing something on the refrigerator.

It was a picture of Molly standing next to Libby, placing an arm around Libby's back. Molly had a happy smile on her face, while Libby had her usual shy smile. It warmed Ollie's heart to see Molly and Libby having such a wonderful friendship.

"It looks like you and Libby have been friends for a long time!" Ollie commented. "You two are so lucky! Making friends hasn't exactly been easy for me before I moved to Brighton."

Upon hearing that, Molly turned to Ollie in confusion. "What do you mean? You had friends before you met me and Libby, haven't you?"

"Not exactly." Ollie awkwardly looked away. "When you are a ghost hunter, others would be too weirded out to be your friend."

"Oh, Ollie. I'm so sorry." Molly sympathized with her friend.

"Don't worry about it! I still have you and Libby, and that's good enough for me!" Ollie replied, happy to have wonderful friends like Molly and Libby. "By the way, where is Libby, anyway?"

"She should be in my room with Scratch." Molly answered. "Let's go see if they are ready to come with us to the fair!"

At that moment, Molly and Ollie walked up the stairs before opening the door to the attic. As she made her way into her room, Molly was greeted by Libby.

"Molly! Geoff and Jeff came to visit us!" Libby exclaimed.

Surprised by this, Molly looked up to see two of her ghost friends. "Geoff! Jeff!"

"Hi, Molly! Oh, I mean, Ms. Chairwoman!" Geoff greeted Molly.

"Just Molly is fine, Geoff! It's so good to see you again!" Molly smiled before she decided to introduce Ollie to her ghost friends. "Ollie, these two ghosts are some more of my ghost friends! I would like you to meet Geoff spelled with a G, and his afterlife partner, Jeff spelled with a J!"

"Geoff and Jeff? That sounds kind of confusing." Ollie commented upon hearing their similar names. He soon walked over to the ghosts and introduced himself. "Um, hi! I'm Ollie! I actually haven't spoke to any ghosts other than Scratch!"

"Hello, Ollie! I'm Jeff!" Jeff introduced, shaking Ollie's hand..

"It's so nice to meet another one of Molly's human friends!" Geoff shook Ollie's hand as well.

" You know, for a ghost hunter, you have been making a lot of ghost friends lately." Scratch told Ollie.

Surprised by what Scratch said, Jeff stared at Ollie in suspicion.

"Wait, you are a ghost hunter?"

"It's okay Jeff! Ollie is actually a really nice person! He wouldn't capture any of our friends!" Libby assured.

Despite the fact that Libby trusts Ollie, Jeff wasn't too comfortable with hanging out with a ghost hunter. Especially since he didn't want to risk Geoff getting captured.

"Look, Ollie! You seem like a nice kid, but I just need to tell you this for Geoff's sake. If you ever do anything to hurt my sweet, sweet Geoff, I will end you!" Jeff threatened.

Ollie gulped, intimated by the buff ghost. "Got it!"

The awkward moment was thankfully broken when everyone heard Molly's dad call out for them from downstairs.

"Kids! We are ready to take you to the fair!"

Once it was time to leave, Molly decided to say goodbye to her friends. "Well, we should be going now! It was nice seeing you again, Geoff and Jeff!"

"You too, Molly! Feel free to visit us in the Ghost World when you have the chance!" Geoff waved goodbye before he returned to the Ghost World with Jeff.

It was at that moment when Molly and her friends met up with Pete and Sharon. Excited for the fair, they all got in the van. With Libby, Ollie, and June coming with the McGees, it was a little more crowded in the van than usual, but they still managed. Ollie was caught in the middle and was amused to see Molly and Libby snuggling together. He didn't know if it was his imagination, but Ollie could have sworn he saw Darryl and June blushing from being so close together.

After a few minutes of driving, Pete parked the car in front of the fairgrounds. They all got out the car, excited to spend the day together.

"Okay, kids! We know you want to have fun, but make sure to meet up with us back here in about 3 hours." Sharon told everyone.

"Scratch, can you keep an eye on everyone and make sure they stay out of trouble?" Pete asked Scratch.

Instead of listening to a word Pete said, Scratch was drooling at the sight of all the food being served at the fair. "Huh? Oh, sure. Whatever you say, Pete!"

At that moment, Molly and her friends played various games and rode a bunch of rides. Darryl and June have been playing a bunch of games, but hadn't won a single game. They only had enough money for one more game.

For their last game, they had to through a ball to knock down a stack of tin cans. As Darryl handed over the money, June was writing something down on her notepad.

"Psst! Darryl, according to my calculations, the cans in the middle are the ones that are most likely to fall! Trying aiming for them." June whispered.

Darryl nodded before brining his attention to the cans. He threw the ball at the stack, knocking them all down.

"Yes! We did it!" Darryl exclaimed before accepting an owl plushie as a prize.

As he took a look at the plushie, Darryl remembered what Molly told him happened between her and Libby when they won a prize at the fair. This gave Darryl an idea.

"Here you go, June! You deserve this way more than I do!" Darryl said, handing the plushie to June. "It was thanks to your calculations that we were able to win this in the first place!"

Surprised by this outcome, June gave Darryl a grateful smile. "Really? Thank you, Darryl! It looks really cute!"

While Darryl and June were enjoying the rest of the fair together, Molly and Libby decided to go on a couple of rides. The sun started to set when the two girlfriends got on a ferris wheel for their last ride together. Their cart slowly rose to the top, giving Molly and Libby an amazing view of the entire fair.

Molly and Libby gazed in awe as they were able to watch the sunset together. They held each other's hand as they enjoyed the beautiful sight together.

"Wow! The sunset is so beautiful!" Libby exclaimed.

"Only the best for my wonderful girlfriend!" Molly smiled. "I'm so glad we got to spend the day together, Ahuvati!"

"Me too, Sunshine!" Libby snuggled up close to Molly, to which she snuggled Libby back.

Meanwhile, Ollie was at the petting zoo, admiring the animals. He was so busy petting a goat, he didn't notice Molly behind him.

"Are you enjoying the fair so far, Ollie?" Molly asked her friend.

Ollie soon turned and greeted Molly with a smile. "Of course! This goat is really friendly!"

"Aww! It's so cute!" Molly squealed before she pet the goat as well. "If I were to name the goat, I would name him Totes the Goat!"

"Totes the Goat?" Ollie repeated. "I like it! By the way, where's Libby?"

"Oh, she left to use the restroom. I told her to meet me at the petting zoo, so she should be back pretty soon!" Molly explained. "Libby and I just spent a romantic ferris wheel ride together!"

"Oh, really? Sounds like fun!" Ollie replied. "You know, Molly! After seeing you and Libby together, you two really are perfect for each other!"

"Aww! Thanks, Ollie! I'm glad that you think so!" Molly smiled before her face suddenly turned serious as she lowered her voice in a half joking half serious manner. "Because if you ever do anything to hurt my sweet, sweet Libby, I will end you!"

Ollie stared at Molly for a few moments in silence before he burst into laughter. "Was that supposed to be Jeff?"

"Yeah!" Molly laughed as well. "Jeff really cares for his partner a lot!"

"I can tell! He really cares about Geoff just like how you care about Libby! You don't have to worry! I promise that I would never even think about hurting Libby!" Ollie promised. "You two are like my best friends!"

"Aww!" Molly was touched by Ollie's words.

It wasn't long before Libby showed up. She walked up to the petting zoo before greeting Molly and Ollie.

"Hey, guys! What's going on?"

"Oh, Libby! You have to see this! These goats are so adorable!" Molly grabbed Libby's hand before leading her to the goats.

A few minutes went by before Molly and her friends met up with Pete and Sharon. Molly could tell that the rest of her friends had a lot of fun too after seeing June carrying an owl plushie and Scratch having food all over his face.

After all the fun that everyone had today, everyone got back in the car as Pete drove everyone back home. Exhausted from their long day, Molly and Libby fell asleep, both of them leaning against one another throughout the car ride.
