Despite his mother's insistence, Shikamaru and Usagi had a small wedding surrounded by friends and family. Naru and Unazuki commented on how the wedding resembles a Shinto style wedding, but when they did, the Konohagakure ninjas were confused. They never heard something like what Naru and Unazuki were describing because these were THEIR style type weddings. It was tradition in many clans, especially when the wedding is an heir. "Wait a minute," piped up Gurio, "Usagi's fiancé is an heir to an entire clan?!"
"Lucky," teased Fish's Eye, "To have a wealthy fiancé."
"To be fair," said Motoki, "Usagi and Shikamaru looks happy and in love. I, for one, do not care that it's a Shinto-like wedding."
"Sō, sō," agreed Hotaru with a big smile on her face, "I can't wait for them to have their three children!"
"Three… children," questioned a surprised Ino.
"Don't mind Hotaru, everyone," said Setsuna with a knowing smile, "It's just how her powers work is all."
"What kind of powers does she have that let her see into the future," exclaimed Tenten.
As Usagi and Shikamaru's guests were mingling before the ceremony, Yoshino was pouting about not being able to have a big wedding. She just wanted her little boy to have the best wedding day possible. Shikaku, on the other hand, was smiling as the Nara clan mingled with Usagi and Shikamaru's friends. He knew that typically this type of wedding was only for family to view, but the two wanted their friends there since they consider their friends family. "Places everyone," said Minato who was a bit pouty, "Time for the wedding to start."
"Shikamaru, dear," said Yoshino, "Straighten that kimono."
"Mendokusē," grumbled out Shikamaru.
"Now, Yoshino," said Shikaku, "Stop fussing and let's sit at our place."
"This is so exciting," said Sailor Aluminum Siren.
"Shush," said Sailor Lead Crow.
Everyone finally settled down and sat on either side of the room the wedding was held at, left for Usagi's precious people and right for Shikamaru's. Shikamaru, who was wearing a five layered kimono that have white inner layers and a solid black outer robe, the family crest embroidered into said kimono, and the priest were standing in the middle, waiting for Usagi to walk down the aisle with Naruto. It was agreed that Naruto would be the one to give Usagi away because the two grew up together. They lived and stayed strong for each other. So, it was only appropriate that Naruto gave Usagi away to Shikamaru. Sure, it was a different kind of tradition, but who said that they had to follow all of the traditions? Shikamaru gulped his desires down as Usagi came into view with Naruto. There, Usagi was dressed in a shiromuku (a pure white, embroidered silk kimono) as she wore a tsunokakushi ("horn-hiding") headdress made of white silk. Shikamaru couldn't take his eyes off of his beautiful bride as Naruto finally gave Usagi away and went to sit next to his father. It was then the ceremony started. Everything was a blur for the wedded couple as they did the shinzen kekkon (friendship marriage), which was literally a wedding before the kami (god) purification ritual. To be fair, the couple only had eyes for each other, and the ritual was almost thirty minutes long. "I now welcome Nara Shikamaru and Nara Usagi," said the priest, "May their love last forever!"
- Reception –
"Kanpai (Cheers)," shouted everyone.
"Are you glad that we are in-laws now, Minato," teased Shikaku.
"Oh, definitely," said a happy Minato.
The festivities were in full swing. Everyone was happy for the married couple because it took a long time to get to where the couple was. First was Usagi's past selves; then it was the Fourth Shinobi World War, which actually led to Kaguya being unsealed. Now, the happy couple was surrounded by friends and family, some of them even going as far as staying in the couple's dimension. Shikamaru, however, lost sight of his bride once the long ceremony ended due to Hotaru and Setsuna whisking her away to change into an actual kimono. He, himself, was actually wearing a green and black kimono that has the Nara family crests embroidered on it. "Lost someone," questioned an amused Ino.
"Mendokusē," mumbled Shikamaru with a frown.
"Don't worry, lover boy," said Sakura, "Usagi will be back and you'll fall in love with her all over again."
"And," said Ino, "I heard that if it was a wedding that was in Usagi's past self's dimension, we would be having some protests about you two getting married."
"What are you talking about," questioned Kiba as all of Shikamaru's past classmates, now friends, surrounding Shikamaru.
"Well," said Ino, "Naru explained to me about another type of wedding they have in their dimension. There is a priest, no doubt, but as the wedding proceeds, the priest will say…"
"Speak now, or forever hold your peace," piped up Haruka from behind.
The ninjas jumped as Haruka and Michiru materialized behind them. All of them were surprised to see Haruka and Michiru wearing kimono that had their particular planetary symbols on their left side. Haruka was wearing dark blue, which complimented Michiru's sea blue colors. Both were smirking as they couldn't help but hear what Ino was telling them, especially the husband, about. The ninjas all stopped as they contemplated what Haruka just said before all eyes swerved towards a certain Suna kunoichi. They could tell that she was not having a good time, trying to hold in her feelings at the new Nara matriarch. "So, she's the one that may have objected the marriage if we did our way," said an amused Haruka.
"She… didn't take me dating and now marrying Usagi," said Shikamaru.
"Yeah," said an amused Chōji, "But, we all thought that you had a thing for Temari. Even she thought so too."
"Mendokusē," grumbled Shikamaru, "I never even led her to believe I had feelings for her. We were only together because we had to set up the next chūnin exams."
"Anyways," said Michiru, "We wanted to congratulate you on your marriage. We also want to thank you for protecting our hime when we couldn't."
"No need for thanks," said Shikamaru with a lazy wave of his hand, "I was always happy to protect her."
"Good," said Haruka with a smirk, "Now look alive. Your bride is coming our way."
Shikamaru, along with his friends, blinked at what Haruka said before all eyes swerved to where Usagi might be. Everyone could see that Shikamaru lost his breath when he saw Usagi in her kimono, which had little white rabbits and crescent moons surrounded by flowers as a design. Hotaru, Setsuna, and Naruto were with Usagi as they came towards the large group, Naruto chatting with Usagi about something or another. As they finally neared everyone, Shikamaru pulled Usagi towards his side and kissed her forehead. "You look beautiful," said Shikamaru honestly.
"A-Arigatō," said Usagi with a red hue on her face.
"Awe," cooed Haruka, "Koneko is all embarrassed."
"Haruka-chan," whined Usagi with a pout.
"Just joking with you, koneko," said Haruka, "Now, it's best for Michiru and me to set up our performance."
Usagi blinked in surprise by what Haruka said as she watched her two Outer Senshi head towards a makeshift stage. She was also surprised to see the Starlights there as well. She wonders how her old and new family will find their type of music. Contemplating about that, she didn't see Shikamaru leading her towards their table to eat dinner. She, however, was surprised to feel meat on her lips before turning her eyes at Shikamaru. "You alright," questioned Shikamaru.
"Un," nodded Usagi with a bright smile on her face, "Just contemplating how everyone will think of the music from my old dimension."
"I'm sure that everyone will enjoy it," said Shikamaru, "Anyways, I wanted to tell you something."
"Hm," hummed Usagi as blue clashed with brown.
"I am glad that you are in my life," said Shikamaru, "Especially when you fell on top of me when we were young."
"I said I was sorry," said Usagi who flushed in embarrassment.
"I remember," chuckled Shikamaru, "I never said this out loud, demo you were very pretty when we first met. Now, you are so beautiful, and I am glad that you are my wife. Don't ever lose faith on my love for you."
"Shika," said Usagi with teary blue eyes, "Don't worry. I'll always have faith in you and our love. Aishiteru, Shika."
"Aishiteru, Usa," said Shikamaru before kissing her on the lips again.
- Years Later –
"Boruto," called out Usagi, "Shikadai! Time for the academy!"
It was years later, and Usagi and Shikamaru were still going strong. Shikamaru was now the advisor for Naruto. With those two, Usagi knows that Konohagakure would thrive. She smiled as she prepared breakfast for her nephew and her son while caressing her stomach. Hotaru was correct that the couple would have three children, yet she was sure that Hotaru didn't see that she would fall for Usagi's twin, Naruto, while living in Konohagakure. Usagi also remembered how Konohagakure was the first to have advance communications, courtesy of Sailor Star Maker and Queen Nehelenia. Now, she can chat with her Outer Senshi who went to their home planets in THIS dimension's Solar System. "Kāchan," said Shikadai.
"Ah, Shikadai," said Usagi sheepishly, "Ready for the academy?"
"You know you shouldn't be cooking when you're pregnant," pointed out Shikadai.
"Well, if you and Boruto have helped," teased Usagi.
Shikadai, who had Shikamaru's hair and Usagi's crystal eyes, flushed slightly just as Boruto, Naruto's son, came into the room. Boruto, who looked like Naruto but with Hotaru's violet eyes, looked between Shikadai and Usagi before quickly gathering the breakfast plates and placing it on the dining table. Usagi giggled because she also remembered Naruto telling Boruto to always help her, especially when she is pregnant. "Gomen, obasan," said Boruto, "I should have gotten up and helped you earlier."
"Daijōbu," said Usagi with amusement, "Now, please eat before leaving. I'll get Chibi-Usa up and take her to school."
"You don't have to do that, kāsan," said Shikadai, "Boruto and I can drop Chibi-Usa off before we head to the academy."
"My helpful boys," said Usagi with a smile.
"Is tōsan going to be home soon," questioned Boruto.
"Un," nodded Usagi, "As well as your kāsan. They are just on another honeymoon is all, Boruto."
"I hope they got something for me this time," said Boruto with a cheer.
With that, the two boys ate while Usagi got her three-year-old Chibi-Usa up from her sleep. Chibi-Usa may be young, but she got her brains from the Nara side of the family. Thus, school. Usagi carefully came back with Chibi-Usa before said daughter rushed over and hugged Boruto and Shikadai with her little arms. Shikadai picked up Chibi-Usa as both boys said goodbye to Usagi. With Usagi looking out the door, she never noticed her husband creeping up behind her. She gave a start once she felt arms around her before relaxing into the hold. "Kids out now," questioned Shikamaru huskily.
"Un," nodded Usagi, "Shikadai and Boruto took Chibi-Usa to school."
"You alright with her going to school," questioned Shikamaru.
"It's a pre-school," said Usagi, "Besides, she gets her smarts from you, mister."
"Hai, hai," said Shikamaru amusedly, "Now, how about you relax while I take care of you for a change."
"Sounds like today will be a relaxing one," giggled Usagi, "Aishiteru."
"Mo aishiteru (I love you too)," said Shikamaru.
Gently as he could, Shikamaru spun Usagi around and kissed her on her lips, pouring all his love into said kiss. 'Ah,' thought Shikamaru relaxingly, 'My life turned out not as troublesome as it could be. And it's all thanks to Usagi… my first love.'
AN: Hai! I did a wedding for Shikamaru and Usagi! (´∀`)ღ It has to be a Shinto type wedding because Naruto's universe is more traditional than that of Usagi's universe. ( ̄ω ̄) And hai! I also paired Naruto up with Hotaru, along with giving the family's children their future names! ( ̄ω ̄;) I'm not creative with baby names. (∩︵∩) Anyways, this is the end for ShikamaruღUsagi. (✖╭╮✖) I'm going to try to write another chapter for my other stories. φ(..) Ja ne! |・ω・`)
