Chapter 20: Battle In The Desert! Vs. Stone Golem Regirock!
Professor Oak - "This is very well done so far Michael."
Michael - "Thank you Professor Oak. Although, from what I can tell right now. Besides what I find in the desert on Route 111, there won't be much of an update for the PokéDex when we return to Petalburg City."
Professor Birch - "True. But then you'll see a bunch of new Pokémon for the rest of your journey afterwards."
Michael - "That's very true. Anyway. See you all in Petalburg City."
Professors - "Safe travels."
The call was then ended.
Kabu - "You said you're going to the desert before heading for Petalburg City, right?"
Michael - "Of course."
Kabu - "Then here. You and the girls are gonna need these."
Kabu handed everyone in the party a pair of goggles.
Michael - "I'm guessing this is to help us see in the desert?"
Kabu - "That's correct. These goggles should make it easier for you all to see. Also Michael. Sinnoh's the next region you and the girls are heading to after things are done here in Hoenn, right?"
Michael - "Yes. Why do you ask?"
Kabu - "Well I'm not the only Gym Leader from Galar that has family in other regions. In fact, alongside myself and Bea, you should be facing three more of our fellow Gym Leaders in Sinnoh, and a fourth in Unova."
Michael - "Then you be sure to tell them I accept their challenges. But DON'T tell me who they are. I still want to be surprised on that end at least."
Kabu - "Alright then. Safe travels to you all."
Party - "Thank you."
After quickly checking over their supplies, the party left Lavaridge Town. As they walked along Route 112, Michael was carrying the Pokémon egg the elderly couple had given him in an Incubator. He had also decided to keep Larvesta out so she could get some open world experience, along with Araquanid to keep a close eye on Larvesta in case he was busy. Upon reaching the southern entrance to the desert, the egg began to crack inside the Incubator.
Fluttershy - "Here Michael. I'll take the egg for now while you quickly set the medical tent up."
Michael - "Right. Thanks Fluttershy."
Michael quickly and carefully handed the egg to Fluttershy, then just as quickly got the medical tent set up.
Fluttershy - "Ok then. Roxanne, Weiss, Rarity. I need you three to assist me here. And you come too Michael since this is your Pokémon egg after all."
Michael - "Sure thing. I'll help you girls out too if needed."
While the group of five walked into the tent, the others stood around and patiently waited. After a good ten to fifteen minutes, the group of five exited the tent.
Rainbow - "So who's the new team member?"
Michael - "That's just it. The Pokémon that hatched from the egg was a Wynaut."
Ruby - "So that means you're getting a Wobbuffet then?"
Michael - "Yes. But I've sent the little guy home already. So he'll evolve over there."
Yang - "No harm, no foul then."
Michael - "Anyway. Let's get in the desert and start looking for Lord Regirock."
Girls - "Yes sir."
With that, Michael and the girls entered the desert. It was also decided that the entire group would stay together so no one would get lost. While searching the desert, the party came across a Cacnea and a Baltoy, both of which Michael caught and sent home. After a while of looking, they reached the southernmost point of the desert.
Michael - "Be careful. Something tells me that Lord Regirock is around here."
They didn't have to search long as the ground under the sand shook. Then the party saw in the distance as a group of rocks began to move on their own. The rocks then showed themselves to be Lord Regirock himself.
Regirock - "I tAkE iT yOu MuSt Be YoUnG mIcHaEl MaSi, LaDy ArCeUs' ChOsEn OnE?"
Michael - "Yes, I am. And it's an honor to battle you Lord Regirock."
Regirock - "SaMe To YoU, yOuNg OnE. NoW tHeN. CoMe AnD sHoW mE jUsT hOw StRoNg YoU tRuLy ArE!"
Michael activated his Battle Disk, which caused an aura to surround Lord Regirock.
Regirock: Attack +1, Defense +1, Sp. Attack +1, Sp. Defense +1, Speed +1

Michael - "Let's go Sceptile!"
Sceptile - "Right!"

Michael's Hand: 5 + 1 = 6
Current Weather: Sandstorm
Michael - "Field Cards activate! Raining Fortune and Blooming Meadow! And I'll activate Physical Booster!"
Ruby - "Wait! But I thought you could only have a single Field Card activated at a time?"
Michael - "That was the truth. But since our return from Johto, Akira made an update to the Battle Disk where you can now have multiple Field Cards activated, but ONLY one that changes the weather and one that puts a terrain on the battlefield."
Weiss - "That would make sense. Weather and Terrain are two different things in a Pokémon Battle after all."
Michael's Hand: 6 – 3 = 3

Current Terrain: Grassy

Michael - "Lady Arceus, hear my plea! Let my bond with Sceptile bring the birth of a new power! Go! Mega Evolution! Appear, Mega Sceptile!"
Regirock - "SuPeR hAmMeR sToNe EdGe!"
Michael - "Mega Dragon Earth Leaf Break!"
Stone Edge's Current Power: 100 + 50 = 150
Super Hammer Stone Edge's Current Power: 120 + 100 = 220 + 150 = 370
Dragon Claw's Current Power: 80 + 40 = 120 + 24 = 144
Earthquake's Current Power: 100 + 20 = 120
Leaf Blade's Current Power: 90 + 45 = 135 + 67.5 = 202.5 + 40.5 = 243
Brick Break's Current Power: 75 + 15 = 90

Mega Sceptile rushed at Lord Regirock, getting a good hit in. Lord Regirock then responded with a just as strong hit.
Michael - "I figured as much."
Rarity - "What do you mean Michael?"
Michael - "During my battle with Lady Regice back on Route 205, Blaziken was able to do a lot of damage to her due to Lady Regice having a higher Sp. Defense despite her stats being raised. But unlike Lady Regice, her brother here, Lord Regirock, has higher Defense. And his raised stats make me have to deal even more damage. Hopefully I won't have this same problem when I battle Lady Registeel later on."
Regirock: Sp. Attack +1, Sp. Defense +1

Regirock - "SuPeR hAmMeR sToNe EdGe!"
Michael - "Mega Dragon Earth Leaf Break!"
Both attacks met again in another stalemate. But this time it seemed like Lord Regirock was moving slower, along with the fact that his combo attack was getting weaker, while Mega Sceptile's was getting stronger at the same time.
Michael - "Sure. To the average Trainer, it seems like both combo attacks are canceling each other out. But to the eye of only the most skilled Trainer, do they see that Lord Regirock is slowly doing more harm than good to himself. And that's mostly due to the massive drawbacks Superpower and Hammer Arm have."
Regirock: Attack –1, Defense –1, Sp. Attack +1, Sp. Defense +1, Speed -1

Michael's Hand: 4 + 1 = 5

Regirock - "SuPeR hAmMeR sToNe EdGe!"
Michael - "Mega Dragon Earth Leaf Break!"
A third stalemate. But this time Lord Regirock staggered from being hit.
Michael - "You ok there Lord Regirock? You don't seem like yourself after taking that last hit."
Regirock - "It'S nOtHiNg BoY. NoW gIvE mE yOuR bEsT sHoT!"
Michael - "With pleasure!"
Regirock: Attack –2, Defense –2, Sp. Attack +1, Sp. Defense +1, Speed –2

Due to unfortunately slowing himself down from using Hammer Arm so many times, Mega Sceptile was easily able to close in and get a strike on Lord Regirock before the Stone Golem could even attempt to block the combo attack. Mega Sceptile then jumped back towards Michael.
Mega Sceptile - "Now Michael!"
Michael - "Go Ultra Ball!"
Michael threw the Ultra Ball at Lord Regirock, which hit him square in the head and sucked him inside.
One shake.
Two shakes.
Three shakes.

Michael walked over and slowly picked up the Ultra Ball.
Michael - "Alright! I just caught Lord Regirock!"
Ruby - "Congrats Michael. That's what now, two of the Regi's?"
Michael - "Yes. There's still Lady Registeel here in Hoenn. Then you have the creator of the Regi's, Lord Regigigas, in Sinnoh. Weiss. I expect you to learn as much both before AND during your time in Snowpoint City about the legend of Lord Regigigas while the others and I are going across the rest of the region."
Weiss - "Of course."
Pinkie - "So that's four. Who are the other two?"
Michael - "Lady Regieleki and Lady Regidrago. But we won't be seeing any part of those two till we reach Galar. Especially cause they're in a special temple in the region's southern area."
Bea - "I know that Professor Magnolia's lab is near the most southern point in Galar. But is there actually something further south?"
Michael - "There is. The Crown Tundra. From the rumors I HAVE heard, there was a mythical Pokémon that helped with the area's bountiful harvests. But sadly, over time the legend itself began to fade from memory, which in turn caused the land itself to become mostly barren. There was a castle of sorts, but it's mostly abandoned and falling apart by now."
Soon the party realized that they were back in Mauville City.
