4: Test / demonstration.
A few days ago.
"You two are the pride of this school! Truly, two of our students made it into U.A.! That's incredible. Don't forget about us once you're there, alright?"
Izuku really tried to smile, but it was weak. He didn't want to say it out loud, but he truly hoped to forget everything about this school.
What would his teacher say? Something about how thinking about the past is useless, and all you should do is look at the present?
Lost in his thoughts, Izuku didn't realize that they had already left the teacher's office and unconsciously walked to a secluded spot alongside an explosive blond boy.
Suddenly, a feeling of warning filled his mind, and Izuku quickly stepped aside. A hand that was reaching for his uniform collar simply passed by.
"Uh!? DEKU! You cheater bastard, trying to tri-!"
Izuku would actually say he acted on instinct or impulse, but the truth was that he did it unconsciously under his teacher's influence.
His palm stretched out and covered Bakugou's mouth. There was a moment of silence before that warning feeling returned threefold, and Izuku quickly jumped back.
There was a flash and smoke after the sound of an explosion.
In any other place but this stupid school, that sound would have been enough to alert the staff and come to see what the heck was going on.
In this godforsaken place, no one paid it any attention.
A year ago, Izuku would have urged Bakugou to stop, probably would have tried to avoid a fight as much as possible.
His teacher had taught him better. Sometimes, there are things you can't avoid, so you must face them head-on.
So when Katsuki Bakugou lunged toward him propelled by an explosion, Izuku didn't hesitate and went straight for him.
To Izuku's aura-enhanced perception, Bakugou was... really slow.
It's not that he was weak, or that his body propelled forward by the explosion of his palm was slow.
You could actually say he was fast.
But Izuku was much faster.
His body leaned, and his fist crashed into Bakugou's stomach, knocking the air out of the blond boy's lungs.
He didn't really put too much force into that punch; he didn't want to hurt him for real.
He simply extended his fist and held his body steady in position.
It was Bakugou who propelled himself into his fist!
Or at least, that's what he would say if someone had seen them.
"D-Damn! How did you do that?" Looking at him, kneeling on the ground and clutching his stomach, Izuku tried to feel sorry for him, but he couldn't.
He really wanted to, though.
But the last time he felt sympathy around Bakugou, his teacher had reprimanded him for being a fool.
And he had increased his training regimen so much that, for the first time in his life, Izuku wished the worst for Katsuki Bakugou when the day was over.
"We shouldn't fight, Kacchan. U.A. has no tolerance for students causing trouble, and using a Quirk without special permission is illegal. It could affect your admission."
Izuku didn't want it to sound like a threat, but strangely, it did.
Bakugou froze for a moment before gritting his teeth in clear annoyance.
"Tch, keep your secrets, you little shit. Sooner or later, I'll punch you."
Watching him go, Izuku suddenly remembered a certain request from his teacher.
"Punch that blond kid in the face for me."
It seemed like he had missed his best opportunity to fulfill that request. After all, what were the chances of running into Bakugou again in a school as large as U.A.?
.
.
.
"This is a complete lack of respect for this institution!"
"Huh? What the hell do you want with me, extra?"
Izuku decided that the universe had something against him, and if possible, he would punch the universe in the face too...
Izuku watched them argue, something about being from an elite school or something? He decided to completely ignore them and pretend he hadn't seen them.
Of course, one of them had to greet him.
"Hi, I'm Tenya Iida from Soumei!"
Izuku shook the hand he offered and greeted, "I'm Midoriya Izuku from Aldera."
"You're the first place!" a voice interrupted them, and Izuku turned to see Pink.
Pink skin and black eyes.
"I'm Mina Ashido! Nice to meet you both. Let's get along!"
Izuku didn't hesitate, didn't blush (much), and definitely wasn't screaming in his mind that a cute girl was greeting him. Outwardly, he shook her hand with imperceptible nervousness.
"It's a pleasure," he replied.
Maybe the fourth step did serve a purpose after all.
"It's you!" a voice behind him made him turn, and he was pleasantly surprised to see the girl he had saved.
It seemed that she not only was well but had also managed to get in.
"I'm glad we're in the same class! I really forgot to ask your name, and when I woke up, you were already gone. I couldn't thank you properly."
Izuku really didn't want thanks, but if it came from a cute girl, then anyone would be willing to wait!
That sounded too much like his teacher...
"Oh, I know you! You're that girl the green-haired guy here saved; that was amazing, by the way!" Mina joined the conversation, and Ochako nodded enthusiastically.
"Yeah, the way you moved super fast and took down that huge robot was incredible!" She mimicked her best punch towards Point Zero, and Izuku felt somewhat embarrassed by the praise.
He felt like he was on cloud nine when he realized that not just one, but two girls were talking to him!
His teacher had been right all this time, and all it took was having confidence?!
"We agree on that.! I'm Mina Ashido!"
"Pleasure to meet you. My name is Ochako Uraraka!"
"Midoriya Izuku."
Lost in his thoughts as he was, Izuku missed part of the conversation, and it wasn't until they addressed him again that he reacted.
"What do you think about that, Midoriya?"
What? Wait, what am I supposed to respond to? What are they talking about?! Oh Shit!, his teacher had warned him about this, hadn't he?
'Izuku, when a woman talks to you, never stop paying attention! That's a big mistake! But if you do, there's only one way out—just nod as if you know what you're doing!'
Just as he was about to follow that advice, the universe, perhaps feeling threatened by Izuku's threat to punch it in the face, offered him an olive branch in the form of... a caterpillar?
"If you're here to make friends, it's better to leave. This is a Hero school."
The man who emerged from the sleeping bag looked tired, very tired, and probably needed a bath.
But Izuku had the strange feeling that there was more to the man than met the eye.
Ever since his aura awakened, Izuku had been getting more and more sensations about different things, and they had all been helpful in one way or another. So he decided to continue following that strange instinct.
"I'm the teacher of this class, Shouta Aizawa, and we'll start with a physical aptitude test. Follow me to the field and put these on." Izuku hesitated to take the suit that the teacher had pulled out from his sleeping bag, but with no other option, he had to take it.
.
.
.
It seemed that his teacher had decided that attending the welcome ceremony was a waste of time.
"We'll start by testing your Quirks. As your teacher, I have full control over this class, so I can decide the most appropriate course of action for your learning," he explained.
He then explained the different physical aptitude tests and how they were useless in measuring someone's abilities unless they were allowed to use their Quirks.
"Midoriya, you were first in the practical exam. I want you to demonstrate something."
Being called so suddenly, Izuku almost jumped but quickly approached his teacher.
"I want you to throw this ball as far and as hard as you can, just don't step out of the circle."
As he took the ball, Izuku nodded and began to prepare. He didn't really know how much his aura had increased his strength, but he guessed it was a lot, the gym equipment really didn't work as well for him anymore.
He hadn't really tested how high his strength level had become.
Squeezing the ball, he decided that there was no better time than the present! As his teacher would say.
To the view of the other students, Izuku positioned himself in a standard throwing stance, and then a faint, soft green glow surrounded his body.
Then, in a blurry motion, his body threw the ball, creating a shockwave that sent a gale shaking everyone present.
The left foot he had planted forcefully forward sank into the ground, creating a small crater. In the sky, the ball continued to create sonic waves before disappearing from view.
"870 meters, a good number to start with. Above all, I need to know what you are capable of, so we can work from there and make your growth truly remarkable," Aizawa commented.
Izuku shook his hand; he had put all the strength he could into that throw, but for some reason, he felt like it was lacking. He didn't have the same feeling he had when he attacked the Point Zero.
"Incredible! What a great throw!"
"Amazing, Midoriya! As expected from the first place."
"Worthy of a hero!"
All the other students cheered in excitement at the display of strength, but for Bakugou, it was like a bucket of cold water.
'Damn bastard, you've been mocking me, haven't you?' Bakugou didn't explode as he normally would. He had known there was something different about Izuku for a few days, ever since he hit so hard in the stomach. This only confirmed his suspicions. That damn piece of trash had been playing with him, mocking and laughing at him behind his back!
So, he would show who the real number one was here!
While Bakugou got lost in his delusions, the teacher interrupted the amazed exclamations of the students.
"Seems very fun, huh? How about this: the one who ends up with the lowest score in the total ranking will be expelled immediately!"
And just like that, the excitement suddenly cooled.
"Wait, what?"
"This is impossible!"
"U.A. allows this?!"
In response to the questions, Aizawa just laughed.
"The absolute control I have over this class means I can do what I believe is best for your education. If I want to expel all of you, I'll just do it. Be grateful that I see potential in some of you, so I'm giving you a chance, so impress me!"
"This is..."
"Our first day, and we can already be expelled?"
"This is unfair! Unfair, I say!"
Those words prompted the teacher to deliver a speech about the injustice of the world. Izuku might have paid more attention if he hadn't lived with injustice almost every day of his life.
'A hero is someone who opposes all injustice, no matter what! Remember, Izuku, this unjust world will try to spit on everything you believe and dream of, but it will only succeed if you let it!' These words from his teacher, Dan, came to mind at this moment. In truth, injustice was everywhere, wasn't it?
But even though he knew that, he was still somewhat puzzled by the great freedom the teachers seemed to have at U.A. Their teaching methods were not the norm.
Expulsion? Maybe if he didn't have the confidence that his teacher Dan had instilled in him through a training of suffering, he would have worried more.
But he believed in himself.
No, rather, he believed in the gift his teacher had given him and his training.
He would give it his all!
[50-Meter Dash!]
Izuku didn't know why his bad luck continued to haunt him. Out of all the students, why did he have to be paired with Bakugou for this?
And what was with that death glare Bakugou was giving him? Why did it feel like he hated him even more than before?
"Begin!"
All those thoughts left his mind when the whistle sounded, and his body accelerated forward at incredible speeds.
Like a car on a freeway, his body crossed the finish line before he even realized it.
"0.14 seconds."
Izuku blinked in amazement. He knew he was fast, but that was... the calculation raced through his mind quickly. Shouldn't he be just as fast as sound? And that was because it was only 50 meters. If he could accelerate faster, how fast could he go?
"Damn it!" Bakugou's roar came shortly after.
[Pressure Strength Test!]
Izuku looked at the device; it was different from the ones he had used before. It must be special, right? Designed for people with super strength Quirks or something similar.
He took a deep breath before squeezing it with all his strength, his aura glowing between his fingers.
The number kept rising before a crunching sound made Izuku look mortified at the broken grip device now in his hands.
With some timidity, he looked at his teacher, who was giving him a stern look.
"Wait, you broke it!? What kind of crazy strength is that!"
A small child with grape-like hair looked at him in amazement, and Izuku smiled shyly.
At the other end, Bakugou clenched his teeth and made the device explode.
[Long Jump!]
This was much easier than Izuku expected, although he should have guessed it, right? He did some crazy jumps in the practical exam, didn't he?
Bakugou watched him soar beyond him with fury and foam almost coming out of his mouth.
[Long-Range Lateral Jumps!]
Izuku didn't do as well at first in this one, but he managed to find the right rhythm in the end.
For some reason, Bakugou seemed more satisfied with this test, bouncing back and forth between explosions.
[ball throw]
This time, Izuku didn't participate. He had already done this test at the beginning, so he just stood to the side, waiting to see the performance of the others.
"Just watch, you bastard!" Bakugou's voice made him look at him with uncertainty. What did he mean by that?
"DIE!" The explosion that followed was incredible and caused some of the other students to stumble. Izuku simply stood in front of a girl who had been too close for her own good. The shrapnel hit his aura, but he didn't even feel it.
"Are you okay?"
Looking behind him, he saw the girl with a ponytail who had been pulling gadgets out of her body. Her open jacket made him blush slightly, but he still asked if she was okay.
"I'm fine, thanks. I didn't expect something like that to happen." The girl smiled at him gratefully.
"No problem."
On the other end, Bakugou grinned broadly as he watched the ball disappear into the distance. He looked towards that stupid Deku, expecting to see his astonished face, but all he was greeted with was his back as he spoke with some stupid girl with a ponytail.
He clenched his fists; was he ignoring him!?
"810 meters." The teacher's words cooled his anger, and he looked at the number in disbelief.
He failed? He couldn't surpass that bastard!?
With his mind reeling, he moved away from the launch site. The next one was a girl who seemed somewhat silly in his opinion, but when the ball kept going up and up, and the result was "infinite," Bakugou felt his complete defeat.
Even an extra like her had outperformed him...
.
.
.
"It's time to look at the results."
Izuku, along with the others, approached. They seemed nervous, and Izuku couldn't blame them.
He would have been the same if he didn't trust that he had done well.
[1: Midoriya Izuku]
[2: Yaoyorozu Momo]
[3: Todoroki Shouto]
[4: Bakugou Katsuki]
Suddenly, a sigh that he didn't know he had been holding escaped from him.
He had actually been a little nervous, just a little.
Looking towards the last place, he couldn't help but feel sorry for this Minoru Mineta.
He searched among the students, and soon it became obvious who he was due to his horrified expression.
"By the way, I lied about the expulsion."
And the look of horror turned into relief.
He had lied? That was cruel.
"What?!"
"It was a lie!?"
"Of course, it was a lie. Think about it a little." Izuku wanted to agree with the girl he now knew was named Yaoyorozu Momo, but he had believed the lie, so he stayed silent.
"Alright, that's it. Go to the classroom for your schedules."
And with those words, their teacher left.
Izuku blinked. Wait, was that it?! For some reason, he felt disappointed.
.
.
.
In a room filled with monitors, the director of U.A. turned off the screens that had been showing Aizawa's test to his students.
"And what do you think, Toshinori? Has anyone caught your attention?" the director asked a haggard figure sitting beside him.
The man called Toshinori coughed lightly before responding.
"They all have great potential, but..."
"You still haven't found what you're looking for?" Nezu sighed.
"No, in fact, I think I saw a glimpse of it in one of them. It's just that I'm not sure." Toshinori Yagi recalled that brief moment on the screen when that green-haired boy stepped in front of his classmate to protect her from the explosion of the blond kid.
It happened so quickly, and the camera wasn't close enough for him to see it as clearly as he had wished.
"Well, if the first-year doesn't convince you, maybe we can try with those in the upper grades."
"maybe..."
.
.
.
The day came to an end, and Izuku prepared to go home. He wasn't really tired, and he thought it would be a good idea to try training even if it wasn't working so well these days.
Maybe he should ask a teacher or staff member at U.A. about a training site within the school?
"Wait, Midoriya!"
The voice snapped him out of his thoughts, and when he turned, he saw Mina accompanied by Uraraka.
"Are you going to the station? If so, let's go together."
This was the legendary scene of going home with a girl that his teacher talked about so much!? But wait, there were two girls!
"Alright!" Even though he was internally screaming, he managed to respond with confidence! Or at least, he hoped it seemed that way.
Life was good!
With a smile on his face, Midoriya headed off, unaware that a pair of mischievous eyes were watching him from one of the windows at U.A.
"What a casanova! I can't believe it's the same guy who nearly passed out when asking me out. Hahahaha~"

Note:
And a new chapter! and the last one until I can lighten my workload. I hope to be free in a few days and bring more!
Aura is strong, isn't it? The truth is, Aura is very difficult to measure; it has great feats but also moments that leave you in wtf at the obvious nerfing.
In reality, for the three stories I've been writing that are related to RWBY, I had to do a lot of research on Aura, and even then, there are so many inconsistencies that I decided to stick with the best and forget the worst.
I don't nerf, my friends!
And while it may seem that Aura is very strong right now, it's not infallible!
I hope to demonstrate it better in the future.
For now, I say goodbye, and I hope you enjoyed it. Don't forget to leave your like! (That sounded too much like a YouTuber).
