Season 2: Episode 20

Aria was surprised to find herself waking up, then relieved, even more when she didn't feel the pain anymore.

'I...does that mean, am I really…?' She wondered.

She finally allowed herself to feel and noted the warm feeling, she was wearing something at least, she was covered up, in a bed, she automatically deduced she was at a hospital, something which gave her a feeling of relief. But then she remembered, remembered a few things in fact and opened her eyes reluctantly. To her relief, she was indeed in a hospital bed, the room was quiet and seemed normal, until finally she heard another voice.

"Aria."

She turned her head and smiled widely in relief. "Ryan."

He gently took her hand and smiled. "You're awake, thank god."

"I...God I remember everything that happened to me, I…" She blurted out, trying hard to calm down.

He gently moved to hug her, gently, trying not to jostle or hurt her. "It's okay, you're safe now, you're safe, that man is dead and they got you out and you're safe, it's over."

"He's right."

They turned to see the other girls had arrived.

"Aria, thank God, we were so worried." Hanna said at once.

She hurried over to sit on the other side of the bed while the other three stood at the foot of the bed.

"We were so worried." Spencer admitted. "We…"

She shared a hesitant look with Emily and Aria flinched, remembering.

"Then, then Maya…"

"Yeah." Emily admitted. "She...she's dead."

Aria gasped. "God Em, I know, I know what she did but still, you guys...I'm so sorry."

"She saved you." Alison said gently. "We don't blame you and we're just all relieved that you're okay."

The others nodded and Aria allowed herself to calm down somewhat, at least she could recover without much more concern.

Some time later, Aria smiled lightly as she lay in her hospital bed while she continued to recover. It helped her deal with the nightmare as she now knew the killer was dead and Mona had been stopped, the nightmare was over and things could now slowly get better, apart from Maya's death of course. But then she heard it and sat up, eyes wide.

"Ella, this isn't...I should never have let things continue the way they did." Byron was saying sadly.

Ella replied, sounding rather similar to him. "No, you shouldn't, but...why did you come here, Byron?"

He replied at once. "For Aria of course, she...what happened to her was…"

"I'm the same and I, I can't…" Ella said, choking back tears. "We've been through too much and all this has been...We have more important things to worry about right now."

Byron agreed. "Yes, our family. We should…"

He didn't finish his sentence, but it was clear what he meant and Aria could see them in the doorway. Hope began to refill her, there was hope now for her family to be repaired, things were indeed looking up as it was clear her parents were going to get back together and really work on things, a chance to fix what was broken.

At that same moment, Hanna stopped on her walk and stood, biting her lip, still feeling disbelief and shock that things had come to this. Caleb stood next to her and offered her a comforting embrace as they watched Lucas get removed from his house in cuffs, along with his computer, he spotted her and glared, while also showing disbelief, as if unable to accept this was happening to him. Neither of them saw Sean also there, glaring at them when he saw the embrace.

Meanwhile, in the basement of the Kahn house, Mike grinned as he sat with Noel, chatting amiably as they smoked and Noel grinned as he gestured to something else, drawing Mike's attention and making him also grin, despite the 'questionable' nature of what Noel was gesturing to.

Also recovering from the nightmare that had consumed much of their time, Morgan and Paige grinned as they lay, holding each other, as they lay on the hammock in the Linwood's backyard, without even needing to think about it they shared a small kiss, content and happy.

Finally, Jason was surprised to notice a letter in the mailbox, he picked it out and check it, there was no listed sender, but he instantly seemed to recognize the handwriting as he glared and, without even checking the letter, he hurried back inside and tossed it in the trash at once.

End of chapter and of story, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
