Sunday 17th April, 1920
James woke up around 7am, ready to send a telegram to Cal to inform him he had located Rose, Sophia and Matilda.
—
Rose woke up and noticed Sophia was still asleep. She went to check on Tilly, who was also asleep before she headed downstairs to find Jack drinking his morning coffee on the sofa.
He smiled as he saw her "good morning" "morning" she replied, sitting down beside him. "How did you sleep?" He asked "terrible… I was awake most of the night, thinking about the man that was watching Tilly" she sighed "I know he had something to do with Cal" she continued "like I said, Rose, I'm here, I'll protect all of you" Jack said, but Rose's words didn't comfort her. "What do you want to do today?" He asked, trying to distract her from her thoughts. "Nothing, I want to stay in. I don't want to risk someone watching or following us" she said "OK" he nodded and kissed her forehead.
—
Tilly came downstairs a while later, rubbing her eyes "good morning baby" Rose smiled at her "morning darling" Jack also smiled "hello" Tilly replied sleepily and held her arms up to Rose, who finally felt able to lift her up again. Tilly rested her head against Rose's shoulder "what do you want for breakfast sweetheart?" Jack asked "can I have eggs please?" Tilly asked "of course you can" he smiled and headed to the kitchen to make her breakfast.

James was in his room when Mary knocked on her door, he got up from the chair he was sat on and went to answer it. "Hello" he smiled. "Good morning, Sir. I have someone on the telephone for you- a Mr Carlton. Would you like to come through and answer it?" James immediately knew that it was Cal, just using a different name. "Yes please" he nodded and followed Mary to the phone.
"Hello" James said "Good morning, James. I have received your telegram. One way or another, I would like you to kidnap Matilda and bring her home immediately. Rose will have no choice but to follow to get her, and when she does, I will ensure she stays. If you have to address my daughter, call her 'Tilly', ridiculous name, I know, but it makes it more likely that she will see you as being friendly" Cal ordered "Yes Sir" James sighed, feeling awful that he was having to take a child from their Mother just to get Rose to return. "I'll get on it now. I should be back in the morning all being well" he said "thank you" Cal said before ending the call.

After spending the morning inside, Jack and Rose playing tea party with Tilly as Sophia went between being with them and sleeping in her swing. Tilly spoke "can I go in the garden?" "Erm-" Rose replied hesitantly "come on Rose, she'll be alright" Jack reassured her, getting a sigh in response. "OK. I'm going to go and get my coat from upstairs. Wait here for me, do not go outside until I'm back down" Rose said firmly "OK" Tilly shrugged, watching Rose go upstairs, Jack following behind her. Tilly went to wait by the back door for Jack and Rose to come down, but eventually got bored waiting and decided to go outside- surely it wouldn't be long until they came down?
Tilly was playing in the garden, still alone when she heard someone say her name quietly. "Tilly?" She turned around to see an unfamiliar man stood on the field that backed on to Jack's garden "yes?" She said nervously "I'm Jack's friend" he lied "him and your Mum have asked me to take you to the park for a while. I know how much you love the park! Are you going to come?" He smiled at her, hoping she would reply quickly so they could leave before Jack and Rose noticed Tilly was gone" "OK…" she said, uncertainty in her voice. She walked over to him and he lifted her over the fence, taking her hand he quickly walked away with her, putting her in the get away car he had arranged. The driver was from the next town over so had no suspicions that this was anything but a Father collecting his daughter.
