~~~Author's Note~~~
I know it's been awhile since the previous chapter. I apologize as this chapter is pretty short after the long wait. A lot of personal stuff happened that needed my attention.
This whole sequence was meant to be in two chapters after the previous once, but I couldn't find a good way to implement it so I decided to make it it's own chapter.
But now we reached over 100,000 words and over 10k views! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have been enjoying it! Any feedback is of course much appreciated.
Ten minutes ago…
"This is the highest room, you think this is it?" Chelia wonders, feeling a little nervous.
"It *has* to be!" Carla responds before booking it towards the room.
Chelia reaches out and widens her eyes. "C-Carla! Wait! More enemies could still be in there!" She warned.
But it was too late. Carla swung the door open. Once she got inside, the Exceed felt her stomach drop as she widened her eyes in complete shock.
"W-what is this?!" Carla sputtered.
Right in front of the two laid a long red carpet leading to a large king sized bed with a long vertical window behind it. However, there was no other person present in the room. With some exceptions, the room didn't appear to have been used that much and was rather tidy.
Carla slowly walked in with her arms limped forward. She proceeded to collapse on her knees, her eyes filled with despair. Chelia nervously slowly walked up behind the Exceed.
"...It's empty…just like everywhere else…" Carla shuddered.
Chelia walked past Carla and towards the bed, scanning her surroundings in the process. "Is this why Rogue couldn't find Wendy last night…?" She wondered.
Carla clenched her paws tightly and smacked them on the floor in frustration. "This can't be happening! They *knew* we were coming here! They were ahead of us all along!" She bewailed, tears slowly forming in her eyes.
Chelia went to the large bed and noticed how the blanket was folded to the side. Her eyes then peered towards the window and saw it slightly cracked open with the drapes lightly waving from the wind outside. Seeing all of this confirmed Carla's worries.
The dark pinked haired girl adjusted the drapes to get a better look outside. The mayhem that was going on in town had calmed down significantly. Plus it was far more empty than before, she couldn't even spot their comrades. Chelia's eyes then stared ahead towards the farmlands and came to a realization.
"...This isn't over yet." Chelia declared, turning around and facing the distraught Carla.
Carla slowly raised her head, tears slightly dripping from her face. "But what can we even do now? We have no leads!"
Chelia began to walk back over to Carla. "There are still places to look. We can't let this be how it ends." She encouraged as she stopped in front of the Exceed. "Wendy always told me how your guild never gave up, even if the odds were stacked against them."
It was at that moment that Carla began to recall a very familiar scene. A time where she gave up all hope and fell into despair. A certain phrase rang in her ears on that fateful day.
"We are not your puppets! We are Fairy Tail wizards!"
Carla gasped as her tears subsided. "...You're right. Apologies for losing it there…" She wiped her face with an arm and stood back up. "Our allies are still fighting, we can't let them down!"
Chelia smiled widely that the Exceed was able to regain her composure. Carla took a deep breath and began to pace around the room while holding her chin. Not before long however, Carla recalled something very important that she completely glossed over since this morning.
"My visions…" Carla raised a paw towards her eyes. "Not all of them came to pass yet…"
Chelia tilted her head. "Your visions? Wait! Are you talking about that time where we were in the carriage?" She recalled.
"Indeed." Carla responded, looking back at Chelia. "So far, three visions have yet to come to pass. If there was a way to use those visions to gain the upper hand…" She trailed off once more, remembering the remaining visions.
One was a tower collapsing, which looked a lot like the one they were in earlier with Sync and Lucy. Another was blue strands of hair on the floor, the floor looking like wood. The last being Hahlos glaring right at Carla. The Exceed widened her eyes and came to a realization. Something that Makarov told her.
"Well we have a member of our own who could potentially have magic similar to the one young Gajeel mentioned. Isn't that right?"
"...My visions…" Carla began. "They're similar to what Hahlos has…" She turned to Chelia. "Do you think mine can be used in combat like he does?"
Chelia gasps. "You're right! I never thought of them that way! Are you able to control them?"
Carla looked down and hovered her paw over her eyes again. "I've been able to before, but most of my visions come on their own. Although…" She clenched her paw before glowing and transforming back in her human form. "My magic power increases while in this form. I should be able to control them more frequently like this…"
"Why not give it a shot!" Chelia suggests, clapping her hands together.
Carla nods before slowly shutting her eyes and relaxing her body. She focused her magic to the best of her abilities, which began to cause some chest pains. Not long after, her eyes open widely as they flash blue.
Jellal and Erza, locked in battle with Hahlos near the farmlands. Jellal gets taken down and Erza is about to meet the same fate as Hahlos throws an attack at her…
"Jellal and Erza are in trouble!" Carla blurted, spooking Chelia slightly. She rushes to the window and looks outside. Immediately she spots a skirmish far ahead on the other side of town. Chelia follows right behind her and spots the same scene.
Carla spreads her wings and prepares to take off. "We have to help them! Wendy is also ahead, I just know it!" She urges as she reaches a hand behind her towards Chelia. But to her confusion, the dark pinked haired girl was looking down.
"...One more thing…" Chelia hesitates. "One more thing, before we leave."
"What's wrong?" Carla wonders.
Chelia takes several steps back to give herself space. "I'm sick of not being able to help you all. You are all going beyond your limits for this while I'm holding you all back! I thought my lack of magic would help us sneak through here but that only made me a burden!" She vented.
Carla was surprised by this sudden outburst, perhaps in a way Chelia was motivating both her and herself earlier.
"I remember when Erza mentioned how our magic containers absorb more Ethernano than they can handle…" Chelia slowly looked back up with a determined expression. "So would that same thing apply for those like me who have really weak magic containers?"
The Exceed gasps before landing on the ground and reaching out to Chelia. "Don't do it! It's far too dangerous! If you try to use magic, you may get seriously hurt!" She warned.
"I have to try! I didn't spend that training with you and Wendy for nothing you know!" Chelia protested. Before Carla could protest back, the former god slayer was already attempting to channel her magic.
The air in the room began to shift as it made its way towards Chelia. The girl began to absorb the air while raising her palms. Small flickers of black winds started to appear on her palms. However, they quickly evaporated as she collapsed on her knees and began to cough violently.
"Chelia!" Carla exclaimed, rushing over to her and noticing her coughing out saliva. But she was stopped in her tracks as Chelia raised a palm at her.
Chelia shakily pulled herself off the ground and stumbled back. She clenched her fists tightly and took another deep breath. Once again, the air shifted towards her as Carla watched on with worry. Her chest was burning and body was aching, but the former god slayer kept pushing.
"I just need a little…" Chelia thought, eyebrows twitching from pain. "I don't care about the pain…my feelings of love are much stronger!"
Carla continued to watch on with widened eyes.
The room felt cold, like laying on a block of ice. But the pained feeling was much more prevalent as Stark shakily opened his eyes. His glasses were shattered earlier so his reticle pupils were shown. The slender angel managed to roll his body over on his back, hissing from pain in the process.
"H-how long…was I-I even out?" Stark asked himself while shuddering from the cold. He then picked up a very familiar magic source above him. His eyes widened as the source began to move to his left. Stark turned his head towards that direction and stared out the window. He couldn't fully observe who it was, but he witnessed a girl fly out while carrying another.
"...Izanagi…?" Stark questioned. "Not just that…"
He slowly raised an arm and covered his face with his palm. "The other magic source…why is it oddly nostalgic?"
Present time…
Chelia leaned forward while clenching her knees. Her one attack cost her nearly all her energy as she was close to collapsing. She was in a lot of pain, but she was able to land a devastating attack on the one who took her friend away. Carla stood next to Chelia and placed a hand on her shoulder. The two looked at each other and smiled at one another.
Erza gawked at what she witnessed earlier. She glanced over at the two girls and placed the pieces together quickly. Smiling softly, she stood back up and walked over towards the two. They saw Erza approach them and returned the smiling gesture at her.
"That was very impressive." Erza praised. "I thank you for saving me."
"Yeah! We did it, Carla!" Chelia beamed, raising a hand at her for a high five.
Carla glanced at Chelia and gave a friendly scoff. "Very well." She smirked before returning the high five to the girl. "I'm sure Wendy would be very proud of you as much as I am, Chelia."
Chelia giggled as Erza crossed her arms. The swordswoman turned her head to her right to check on Jellal. The cloudy mist began to spread out, and Erza spotted something which caused her to squint both her brows. Chelia and Carla followed Erza's gaze and widened their eyes.
Hahlos walked out of the mist, his teal armor in shatters as pieces were falling off of him. Despite the damage on his body, the angel was still standing.
"No w-way…he's still standing?!" Chelia panicked.
Hahlos wiped his mouth and let out some coughs. His purple eyes were as sharp as ever as they glared daggers at Carla. Carla's soft brown eyes met with Hahlos as she stared at him for a brief moment. She glared right back at the angel, causing him to scoff.
"Is this some kind of sick joke…?!" Hahlos mumbled, clenching a fist tightly. "Why does that girl look exactly like Carine?!"
While staring at Carla, Hahlos peered above her head and noticed a lack of a halo. The green haired angel covered his face and stood more straight. "I need to calm down…that can't possibly be her…" He thought out loud, sliding his hand off his face.
"After all, I saw it…Carine had passed away several years ago…"
