Thunderous Love

Chapter 1: A Real Dust-Up

Three children, one teenager and one mouse with long and pointy ears were packing up for a trip inside a building with a large red "P" on the front. A tanned spiky-haired brunette teenage boy wore a brown jacket and some slacks while his eyes were squinted looked on as the other three put dishes away after breakfast. "How are the dishes?" he asked. Two raven-haired boys cleaned the dishes with the shorter one in a green polo t-shirt and brown shorts and glasses, while the other was wearing a blue sweat-tee over a black t-shirt and a red baseball cap and denim pants.

"Just got a few more to go, Brock," the taller raven-haired replied. The lone girl was a brunette wearing a red bandanna and a rather tight red t-shirt and biker shorts was feeding the large yellow mouse which had a lightning bolt as a tail with brown streaks on its back while red circular cheeks was part of his face.

"I was done with my part," she mentioned. "So, I thought of allowing Pikachu a new PokéBlock for him to try." The mouse seemed interested with the new item. It was a yellow block. It took the block, sniffed it and took a bite. It made the mouse cheery.

"I guess Pikachu approves," the younger raven-haired laughed. "But May, what did you mix together?"

"I actually found some Mago Berries so I cut a few and mixed it with some Oran and Leppa Berries," May briefed. "Sometimes, you don't need a whole lot of ingredients to make something good for the Pokémon."

"Oh definitely!" agreed Brock. "Ash, that can be the same as all of your Pokémon Battles." The taller raven-haired scoffed to Brock's advice.

"Making PokéBlock and doing Pokémon Battles are nowhere close to the same thing," he argued.

"Actually, I would disagree," the younger raven-haired voiced. Ash turned to the younger one. "Pokémon Battles and food take steps before it's completed. If you ever miss a step, it'll go to waste." Ash crossed his arms with a smile.

"Sometimes, Max," he started. "It only needs one step." Max returned a scoff.

"Okay, we don't need some sort of mutiny about it," Brock halted. "Let's finish the dishes and get ready to move on for the next town. It's May's turn at the spotlight after Ash's Gym Battle win against Winona." After packing up, the group started to leave the city.

"So now we're done with Fortree City," Max voiced. "Where are we going to?"

"Lilycove City!" proclaimed May. "I got a notification that the next Pokémon Contest is held there." The boys seemed intrigued to where May chose to go. Brock brought out a booklet.

"Let's see," he began. Looking, he studied the direction. "Here we go! And it's also along the path to Mossdeep City where another Pokémon Gym is." Ash nodded, knowing another battle awaited him.

"Alright, Lilycove City it is!" he accepted.

("Here we…") started Pikachu before a flap caught his ears. ("Huh?") Seeing the ears perk, everyone turned to Pikachu looking to the sky.

"What's up, Pikachu?" asked Max. That's when Pikachu spotted a steel vulture flying in. The silver bird had red hardened feathers in its wings with blue steel feathers around the neck.

("Skarmory!") he warned. All looked up to see the vulture lower with someone wearing a lavender suit with a helmet and avian goggles. She wore cotton-fluff leggings and sleeves with her boots having wings on them.

"Winona!" cheered Brock as he approached. As Winona stepped off, Brock clasped her hands. "You must have chosen to fly with us so that you and I can cover the skies with the love we can displ-AHH!" Skarmory used its beak, clamping down on Brock's jacket before pulling him away from Winona and hurling him several meters.

"Now, that's going to leave a scar," May joked.

"On his clothes or his dignity?" questioned Max. After a laugh, Ash turned to Winona.

"Anyway, what's going on that you're coming by?" he asked.

"I wanted to tell you good luck on the rest of your journeys," Winona wished. "But be careful. I saw the forecast and Fortree City will have a dust storm kick up soon." To Max, Winona's warning was needed.

"It might be best if we stay until the weather's safe," he suggested. Ash didn't think it was a big deal.

"I think we can beat it," he believed. Other than Pikachu, the others gasped.

"But Ash!" snapped May. "Have you any idea on what goes in a dust storm?"

"No, but if we get moving," Ash voiced. "We don't need to worry about it." To Brock, Ash wanted to leave quickly.

"Sounds like Ash wants to beat the storm," he theorized. "We'll be careful." The started to make their way out of the city.

"I'm not saying that I agree with Winona," May voiced. "But I think it would've been safer if we stayed at the Pokémon Center before the storm passed."

"Maybe, but we can't advance by standing still," Ash argued.

"Says someone who can't stand being in one place for long," Brock joked. They looked ahead to find the path open. "It doesn't look like anything can stop us now." May sighed to Brock's belief.

"Famous last words…" she muttered. Just then, winds started picking up. Everyone covered their heads while dirt and sand kicked up.

"STAY CLOSE!" shouted Max. Suddenly, laughter.

"That laugh!" shouted Brock. "This dust storm's man-made!"

"Prepare for trouble, as this morning, we adjust!" a woman sounded.

"Make it double, we're going to leave you in the dust!" a man added. On a hot-hair balloon had a motorized fan blow loose sand and dust in the kids' faces. The balloon was black with a red "R" on it. In the basket, a crimson-haired woman was with an ice-violet-haired man and a white cat with a gold oval coin embedded in the forehead. The crimson-haired and ice-violet-haired wore white uniforms with the same red "R" as a symbol.

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all peoples within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"

"Surrender now or prepare to fight, fight, fight!"

"Meowth, dat's right!" cheered the cat. Ash and Pikachu stood, knowing that they're facing someone familiar with them.

"I'm starting to suspect the dust storm warning was you guys!" snapped May.

"Ha, even if that was true, you'll be in that dust storm while we make off with Pikachu!" proclaimed Jessie.

"We may have switched out our normal balloon for repairs and Jessie's normal outfits at da dry cleaners," Meowth claimed. "But it's more dan enough to ruin yer day!"

"Now to go from gust to blast!" voiced James as he pressed a button, making the fans blow harder. Winona and Skarmory emerged with the human holding a red/white ball in her hand.

"Altaria, help us out!" she voiced as she threw the ball. It opened and a giant blue avian creature with two white circles for cheeks between a short white beak. It also had two enormous cloud-like wings and streamer-like feathers like hair. "Use Dragon Breath!" The avian spewed a green beam while the children and teenager struggled from the blowing dust-up. Team Rocket gawked as the beam struck the basket and them. It made the fan redirect where it was blowing, more directly to the ground. It gave Ash and his friends a chance to recover.

"Thanks, Winona!" shouted May. Team Rocket fell from the basket and onto the dusty ground. Jessie recovered.

"You want to play that game already!?" she growled as she held a similar ball. "Dustox, I choose-" That's when a whirlwind blew up, catching everyone. The dust covered the ground while Winona, Altaria and Skarmory hung in the air. Team Rocket were blown to the ground and buried.

"Guys, this way!" she shouted. Pikachu retreated into Ash's arms before Ash started to join the rest. A gust blew Ash to the ground as the rest retreated back as much as they could, only to fall and disappear. "GUYS!" Ash and Pikachu stood up, seeing their friends fall.

"I'm coming!" voiced Ash. They retreated to where their friends fell, but soon fell themselves. The winds soon died down and the dust began to settle. That's when two holes were discovered. As the dust settled, literally, Team Rocket saw the holes and cheered.

"Now, Pikachu is ours!" she celebrated as she raced to the furthest hole from them. Looking, she only saw Brock, May and Max. She gulped to the scene. "Where's the twerp and the Pikachu?" Skarmory landed before noticing the two holes as well. James and Meowth joined soon after.

"Dis is da hole we dug up," Meowth admitted. "But what's dis hole?" To those not affiliated with Team Rocket, they knew the plan.

"I get it!" snapped Brock. "You dug two holes so that you can bury us while taking Pikachu away from us!"

"Not that you figured us out, but if we did," James voiced. "There would be an actual bottom to our hole!" The children in the hole looked confused.

"What does he mean 'an actual bottom'?" repeated Max.

"I think he means that the other hole wasn't dug up by Team Rocket," Brock assessed.

"Does that mean Ash and Pikachu are… gone!?" believed May. Jessie looked into the hole with a flashlight, but all that was there was darkness.

"TWERP!" she shouted. "PIKACHU! ARE YOU OKAY!?"

"That's rare," Max shuttered. "Team Rocket caring about how Ash and Pikachu are doing?"

"Well, he did save them a few times," Brock recalled. "Still, we need to find a way to get Ash and Pikachu back." Elsewhere in a canyon, Ash and Pikachu were laid out and unconscious. The sun beamed down onto the two. It was enough to stir them. Looking up, they were blinded by the sun and shielded their eyes with their arms.

"Okay, we're alive!" groaned Ash.

("At least,") Pikachu muttered. They soon got to their feet. Looking up, they found themselves walled in.

"Are we… in a canyon?"

("There was no mountain before.") They chose to walk down the canyon.

"We need to know how we got here and where to go." They looked around the canyon walls, hoping to find a hole to climb back up. They searched left and right, but there wasn't a hole, let alone a cave opening to be located. Pikachu spotted an orangish-red mushroom and hopped down.

("Food!") He plucked the mushroom from the ground and bit into it.

"Pikachu, don't pick mushrooms at random! You don't know if they're poisonous!" Pikachu continued to eat the mushroom.

("It's spicy, but it's safe.") Ash shook his head, knowing that Pikachu found a safe mushroom. That's when yellowish-green gelatinous slimed creatures appeared. Their yellow eyes eyed the pair.

"Are those Pokémon?" The creatures squished their ways to Ash and Pikachu before Ash brought out his device. He pointed the device to the creatures.

"NO DATA," it computed with a woman's voice. Ash and Pikachu seemed puzzled.

"No data?" repeated Ash.

("Maybe they're not Pokémon,") Pikachu assumed. Ash had an idea.

"Let's see…" He approached the creature and knelt. "I won't hurt you. I just want to get a good look at you." The creature stopped as Ash was within arms' reach. When Ash palmed the creature, he was shocked and fell to the ground. He felt his body lock up. Pikachu gasped, but he wanted to protect his friend. He leaped up and flung a glowing white tail into the creature. It flew back a couple of feet before it blasted a dome of electricity. Pikachu was hit, but it didn't look like it did much. Ash started to recover.

("Ash, you good?") asked Pikachu. Ash slowly started to stand.

"I'll be fine!" Back on his feet, he viewed more of the electrified creatures. "Use Iron Tail!" Pikachu raced after the creatures with the glowing tail, swinging it like a sword. The creatures exploded after being struck by the glowing tail with electricity, but they didn't affect Pikachu. Left were balls of the yellowish-green jellies that Ash picked up. "Well, they're not what I considered friendly."

("I thought they would be.") After collecting the jellies, Ash and Pikachu moved on.

"Something tells me we're not somewhere near home."

("I believe that.") Before long, they were surrounded by walking green lizards with steel backs and sword-like horns. They had swords that looked serrated and hooked like boomerangs.

"Great, and these guys have weapons!" One lizard came in before an arrow flew in as it jumped. The arrow struck the lizard in the head, propelling it back as it fell limp. It exploded into a plume of black smoke. Everyone turned to where the arrow came from. Taking the opportunity of their distraction, Ash had an idea. "Let's see if what happened with Wattson repeats itself. Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" Pikachu leaped up before he emitted a massive blast of electricity. It shocked the lizards to where they couldn't move as a young blond ponytail man wearing blue tunic and loose trousers came in with a bow and arrow while riding a brown horse with white patches over and a white mane. Seeing the bow and arrow and blond man, Ash and Pikachu ducked as the new man shot and struck the lizards in the heads. The lizards fell in defeat.

("That's awesome!") All that remained where the weapons and horns. The blond reached Ash and Pikachu and dismounted, his ears being pointy and having a small loop earring on his left ear and his hair tied by a blue headband.

"Thanks for your help." The man nodded before he looked ahead, his blue eyes focused on the path. Ash and Pikachu watched in confusion.

("I guess he's not much of a talker.") The blond heard Pikachu before picking him up with brown leather gloves.

"You're curious about Pikachu?" Rather than answer, he returned Pikachu to Ash's shoulder before turning to the horse. He petted the horse before turning to Ash and Pikachu, palming the horse's side. "You… want us to get on?" The blond nodded.

("At least he understands us.") The blond helped Ash and Pikachu onto the horse.

"I'm Ash. What about you?" Instead of answering, the blond brought out a device and showed a map. "You want to know where we're from?" He pointed to the canyon map and then to the entrance of a desert.

("It's where he's going.") The blond led the way for Ash and Pikachu on horseback. What awaited in their adventure?
