R-34 Task Force
Interlude 1. Meeting The Neighbors
(A Hallway somewhere in the station)
Naomi stepped out of the elevator and walked down the hallway. "Hope this is the right deck." She muttered to herself as she turned a corner leading down another hallway. And, as luck would have it...
"Ah! There you are!" She finally found the doorway to Station #3. She approached the door, adjusted her necktie and pressed the buzzer.
After a moment the door opened revealing a tall man with short blonde hair and blue eyes behind a pair of Lennon specs. He almost looked like a priest. And was pretty imposing.
"Greetings. May I ask your name before I consider letting you in." The man said.
"Um, I'm Naomi Taylor from Station#1." Naomi replied. "And You're..."
"Inquisitor Hadrian Fabricus of the Ordo Hereticus." Hadrian said. "I am assuming you are here to see the sister?"
"You mean Cassandra?" Naomi asked.
The Inquisitor nodded.
"Yeah, I'm here to see her. She wanted to talk to me about something." Naomi replied. "So can I come in?
"I see no reason why you should not." Hadrian nodded. "Besides she has told me a bit about you from her brief assistance of your station. Something about a wooden chair as I recall as well as the fact you can somehow speak in High Gothic. I am curious about that as well. Do come in."
Naomi followed Hadrian into his headquarters. "The sister is currently performing a ritual appeasing the machine spirit of her bolter pistol following her usage of it upon a replacement Gary Stu prior to you, ahem, borrowing her."
"You mean she's maintaining her gun?" Naomi asked.
"Hmm, I suppose you could say that." Hadrian replied. "You might as well have a seat. She will be a while."
Naomi sat down on a couch. While she waited she looked around the station. It was very similar to her own spacious home station. Only this station had the feeling of a Gothic cathedral.
She was about to pick up the remote on the table in front of her to see what's on their TV when.
"Oh! Naomi, you're here already!?" She heard Cassandra call out to her. Naomi looked over her shoulder to see the sororita approaching. She noticed that Cassandra was dressed in what looked like army fatigues, namely army boots, khaki trousers and an olive green undershirt that showed off her well toned arms and torso. She was rubbing her hands with a cloth rag and her face had smudges of grease and gun oil.
"I was just finishing up some maintenance on my bolter pistol." Cassandra explained. "Could you gimme a moment to look decent?" She asked.
"Uh, sure. Take your time." Naomi agreed. Cassandra entered her room and closed the door. After several minute she came back out now wearing her habit and looked much cleaner. "I didn't know that the sisters of battle wore army fatigues?"
"Actually they're Astra Militarum fatigues." Cassandra replied. "New Cadia pattern I think."
"New Cadia?" Naomi asked.
"The original Cadia was lost as a result of Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade." Hadrian explained. "It was a terrible defeat for the Imperium of Man. To say nothing of the resulting damage caused by the Great Rift that resulted, splitting our galaxy in two" He shook his fist. "Curse him. I would like nothing more than to take his stupid top knot of his and shove it straight up his arse. Followed up by my power hammer set to full charge."
"Join the club, inquisitor." Cassandra agreed. "The effects of that stupid crusade are still being felt in Aprior. I already mentioned the Gore Queen launching her own black crusade there."
"I know, sister." Hadrian replied. "Why Do I get the feeling that Inquisitor Damnos is willing to team up with that traitor sororita. I fear they share similar goals, namely the destruction of your home sector."
"Right now, I wouldn't be too surprised, inquisitor." Cassandra agreed. "So anyway I was wondering about how is it you can speak in High Gothic?"
"High Gothic?" Naomi asked.
"When you were performing the exorcism on that boy." Cassandra said. "You were speaking that language."
"Exorcism? Oh! You mean Latin!" Naomi replied. "That's what I was speaking in when I was getting that wraith out."
"Latin?" Both Hadrian and Cassandra cocked their heads.
"An old European language that was spoken by the Roman Empire a bit over two thousand years ago(relative to yours truly)" Naomi answered. "Isn't used much, largely replaced by Italian. 'Though It's still being taught in some religious schools. I should know, seeing as my secondary education was spent at a conservative Roman Catholic school. That's where I learned it BTW."
"Roman Catholic?" Hadrian asked.
"A denomination of Christianity." Naomi answered "One of the older ones actually. Me and my family are conservative Catholics. Not an easy thing to be in California or the U.S. these days. Oh yeah, you've been wanting to know about my faith's symbol, Cassandra." Naomi looked at Cassandra.
"Yes I was wondering why your holy symbol's a lower case 't'. "Cassandra replied.
"A lower case 't'?" Hadrian asked. "Most curious, sister."
"I think so too, inquisitor." Cassandra nodded.
"Hang on a sec, you two. Lemme get it out for ya." Naomi stood up, undid her necktie and the top three buttons of her shirt. Then she reached into her shirt and took off a necklace that had a bronze cruciform cross on it and gave it to both the inquisitor and the sororita. "Here you go."
"I see." Hadrian examined the bronze cruciform. "Most curious that your holiest symbol is a simple letter."
"Well actually..." Naomi explained as best as she could to the two what that symbol really was as well as the whole story behind it all.
"Whoa, hold on! Are you telling me that your symbol's a crucifix!?" Cassandra gasped.
"That is most macabre." Hadrian added as he returned Naomi's cross. "That your religion uses a form of execution as its symbol."
"Yeah, kinda is when you think about it." Naomi agreed as she put her necklace back on and began re-doing up her shirt and her necktie. "But it is what it is, and the early Christians wanted to differentiate themselves from the older Hebrew faith that worships the same god, Yahweh. They use a hexagram by the way."
"Also I have a feeling that this 'Jesus' person that was executed on that cross might be a perpetual." Hadrian said.
"You mean like the Emperor and primarch Vulkan?" Cassandra said. "I don't know. I understand our perpetuals just reincarnate when they die. Whereas this Jesus fellow just...got better. I'm certain he's a half-god."
"Yeah and there's even speculation if that was true or was it really myth." Naomi said.
"Is that so? A most interesting half-god you follow, this Jesus. Oh well as long as he and his father Yahweh are not gods of CHAOS, I can live with that. I have seen stranger things." Hadrian said as he walked over to the station monitor. "Changing the subject if you will, I understand that you and your fellow partners at your station are police officers(or our equivalent, Adeptus Arbites) from two different continua."
"Yeah, me and Miranda are Las Angeles Police Department officers from 'You're Under Arrest'. We're American versions of Natsumi and Miyuki respectively." Naomi explained. "And Franklin's a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer from 'Due South'."
"I do suppose I will have to look those up later on." Hadrian said. "So what do you know about our continuum?"
"I'd have to look that up too." Was Naomi's answer. "'Warhammer 40,000' right?"
"Yes that is where, or rather when we are from." Hadrian answered. "'In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war'. As they say. This is often the case whenever some ork war boss feels like going on a WAAAAAAGH! Or a tyranid hive fleet tries to eat a sector. Or the Dark Eldar(Or Drukhari) goes on a kidnapping spree so they can acquire sacrifices for Slaanesh. A Necron tomb world decides to wake up. And then there's the traitors and daemons of the four CHAOS gods, Khorne, Slaanesh Tzeentch and Nurgle. They happen to cause the most amount of problems in the Imperium and they have gotten worse since Cadia fell."
"Man, that must be rough." Naomi said.
"You said it, Naomi." Cassandra agreed. "Of course it doesn't help that we've been using the same gear and tactics against the traitors and xenos for the last ten millennia. You might not agree with me, inquisitor but the Imperium needs to change its ways, update its tactics and war gear, even if it means adapting xenos tech and strategy to gain an advantage. Think outside the box, do away with the millennia upon millennia of dogma that's holding us back and causing us to lose campaigns and needlessly waste good Militarum, Sororitas and Astartes against the heretic and the hostile xenos."
"You mean like what was done in the Aprior Sector when it was isolated by the warp storms?" Hadrian asked.
"Yes, inquisitor. We had to adapt, had to change." Cassandra replied. "Just as my ordo went from being part of the Order Of The Sacred Rose to become the Order Of Reason's Light. Adapting along with the Knights Inductor."
Naomi covered her ears, expecting the inquisitor to yell out 'HERESY!' and pull out his bolt pistol, chewing out the sister in the process. Instead...
"Sigh, There was a time when I would have accused you of heresy for saying such things." Hadrian sighed. "That was until I came here and, how do they say, 'Saw the big picture'. I only learned that the Emperor wanted us to cast off the shackles our inflexible dogmatic beliefs, become a much better and advanced race and society in the universe. But then the Horus Heresy happened and we have been stuck in rigid stagnation ever since. And it is slowly killing us."
"Yeah." Cassandra sighed. "There's no two ways around it, inquisitor, it looks like you're beginning to see reason."
"You mean like inquisitor Rightina?" Hadrian asked.
"I suppose, inquisitor." Cassandra replied.
Then Hadrian turned his attention to Naomi. "I was wondering, miss Taylor. What sort of uniform did you wear back when you an arbites, I mean, a policewoman."
"I guess I could show you." Naomi replied. "'Course I have to head back to station #1 to get changed. I'll be right back." She got up from the couch and exited the station.
"Sister, while she is gone, I believe we should get out our own outfits." Hadrian suggested.
"Yeah, It's been a while since I wore my parade uniform." Cassandra agreed. "And I always wanted to see you wearing one of those hats your ordo is known for."
Hadrian raised his eyebrow in amusement.
(Some time later)
They heard the buzzer at the main door. "Hey guys I'm back." Naomi's voice called out. "And I brought Miranda and Frank with me. Can we come in?."
"Certainly, you and your partners may come in." Hadrian pressed a button on the console that remotely unlocked the main door.
The door opened and in walked Naomi and Miranda, wearing their L.A.P.D. uniforms, Followed by Franklin wearing his R.C.M.P. standard uniform with his hat tucked under his right arm. "Franklin and Miranda wanted to meet you, Hadrian, Since they already met... Whoa!"
And that's when they noticed that Hadrian was wearing his inquisitor outfit with the distinctive hat worn by his ordo. And Cassandra was wearing her sororita power armor, with white armor worn over a black cloak with red linings. And her helmet was also tucked under arm.
"So that's what you two look like in your home continuum." Franklin said. "Oh yeah, I'm Franklin MacKenzie. And this young lady here's Miranda Kitteridge." He introduced both himself and Miranda.
"Inquisitor Hadrian Fabricus of the order Hereticus." Hadrian intruded back. "I am quite pleased to meet fellow agents."
"Wow, nice hat you're wearing." Naomi commented on Hadrian's hat. "You kinda got that futuristic puritan witch hunter thing going there." Naomi commented on Hadrian's outfit.
"Is that so, agent Taylor?" Hadrian raised an eyebrow. "So this is what you three wore before you were recruited, hm?" He looked over the three agents. "They are quite quaint."
"I have a bit of familiarity with Warhammer 40K." Franklin said as they sat down at an l-shaped couch that surrounded a coffee table. "And if I'm correct, Cassandra's uniform colors are pretty much like the colors used by the Order Of The Sacred Rose."
"That's right, Franklin." Cassandra replied. "Since that was our ancestral order before the Aprior sector became isolated by warp storms. We still wear 'em as our official parade colors."
"Parade colors?" Franklin asked.
"For parades or other ceremonies." Cassandra replied. "Out in the field, however we use various camouflage patterns depending on whatever environment we're operating in. For example…"
She stood up and took out her disguise pen.
"Disguise pen! Sororita armor! Desert camo!" Cassandra was bathed in a brief flash of light and when it faded, Cassandra's armor had completely changed from silver and black to a desert camouflage pattern. But the inside of her cloak still remained red. "For whenever we get sent to a desert planet. What do you think?"
"Camouflaged power armor? I take it your ordo got that particular idea from the Knights Inductor, sister." Hadrian inquired.
Cassandra nodded as she returned to her seat.
"I should have known." Hadrian sighed.
"I'm guessing you got quite a few more camo patterns for your power armor." Franklin said.
"Oh yeah. The harder you are to see, the harder you are to get hit." Cassandra replied. "Also, like the Knights Inductor, we use completely different combat tactics compared to our fellow orders. Also, since we became the Order of reason's Light, we became less and less zealous to the point that we did away with the Sisters Repentia, Pertinent Engines, Arco-Flagellants and Mortifiers."
"You did?" Hadrian looked at Cassandra while looking a bit surprised.
"Well in the last millennia we felt that they were kinda, um, kinky and a bit sick. The sort of thing that Slaanesh would like." Cassandra shrugged. "Looking back, we often wondered why we had those in the first place?"
"Just Slaanesh?" Franklin thought.
"Although we still have the Sisters Oblatia." Cassandra finished.
"So what about you, Hadrian." Franklin inquired. "What did you do as an inquisitor before coming here?"
"I normally investigate heretical activities that occur through the Imperium Of Man." Hadrian replied. "I often find myself dealing with threats such as treason, mutation, heresy, Apostate members of the Ecclesiarchy, rogue psykers (AKA Witches) and other sorts of renegades and cultists. I have worked with the Adepta Sororitas on quite a few missions, usually the Order Of The Bloody Rose or The Order Of The Valorous Heart."
He looked at Cassandra.
"But I must admit, this is the first time I worked with a member of The Order Of Reason's Light."
"Not to mention my working first time with an inquisitor." Cassandra added. "So now that you know about us, We'd like to know about you."
"Yes indeed." Hadrian added as he leaned slightly forward. "What was it like for you three before you came here?"
"Well before I became a police officer, I used to be a junior forest ranger growing up in Indian River, Ontario. Doing volunteering, guiding and so on." Franklin said. "After that, I mostly handled various traffic violations, family disputes and the occasional robber, drug/arms smuggler, human trafficker, poacher and maybe a terrorists or two. Pretty much the usual."
"I'm sure it was easy compared to what we had to put up with in our precinct." Naomi replied. "Besides having to deal with our fair share of armed robbers, kidnappers and druggies, we had to deal with mass looters, political(namely LGBT+ and BLM) activists, crazed environmentalists blocking up the streets or vandalizing museums. Basically your typical L.A. crimes. And maybe a few traffic tickets. It didn't help that our own government cut our funding to appease the BLM kooks. Man that first year on the beat was tough."
"Although Tokyo is much tamer when you think about it. Although it might be finally getting better in L.A. since the last election and the city got a new conservative mayor." Miranda added. "And we finally got some decent funding and support. This was just before re got recruited."
"Well before I joined the force, I grew up in a conservative roman catholic family out in Nevada." Naomi said. "We made a decent enough living collecting old junked cars and trucks to restore or modify depending on what the customer wanted. We have quite the scrapyard full of classics going back to the 1930s lemme tell ya. Anyway I own a 1979 Jeep J-10 shortbed 4x4 truck and I'm currently restoring a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 coupe for Miranda. And just last year, me and my family fixed up a yellow 1971 Ford Mustang Boss 351 for Miyuki when she first came to our precinct."
"And I came from a wealthy family that struck it big in the California gold rush of 1849." Miranda said. "We originally came from Vermont up in New England. So we have our summer residence in Vermont and our winter residence in California. I was originally born and raised in Vermont and spent my high school years in California. We own quite a bit of stock in various companies. I joined the police force shortly after graduating to give myself a purpose in life."
"I will have to look up those places and events you speak of later, agent Kitteridge." Hadrian replied. "So I assume you are noble. What title do you hold?"
"America doesn't have that sort of ranking." Miranda replied. "We kinda did away with that when we gained our independence from Britain."
"Yeah, King George and his stupid tea tax." Naomi added.
Just then, an announcement came over the PA. "Agent Mackenzie, Agent Fabricus please report to ze psych-ward. Zer's some things I vant to discuss."
"Well I guess we can talk later." Franklin stood up.
"I will join you once I change into something more casual." Hadrian got up and headed to his room.
"Same here." Cassandra added and headed to her own room.
"Sure thing." Franklin nodded and left for the psych -ward.
"Well I guess I'll head back to our headquarters." Miranda said as she stood up. "Just in case we got any new missions while we're out. "You coming Naomi?"
"I'll join you later." Naomi replied. Miranda headed back to station #1.
Moments later, Hadrian came back out now wearing his 'priest' suit and returned to the couch.
Along with Cassandra, now wearing her 'nun' habit. "Oh, you're still here?"
"You still wanted to know what a TERF was, right?" Naomi asked Cassandra as she and Hadrian sat back down.
"I do." Cassandra nodded. "Just what does that word mean anyway?"
Naomi took a deep breath before she gave her answer. "Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist."
"Oh?" Cassandra cocked her head.
"It started with the more left-wing feminists who felt that trans-women are NOT women, like the author that created Dr. Townsend's home continuum for example. But it became a popular hate-slur used by those trans-activist wackos to insult any woman that feels same way." Naomi explained.
"Do you feel that way too?" Cassandra asked.
"I do." Naomi answered. "Same goes for Miranda. We just don't think that trans-women are women. Most of the time, (well the ones we dealt with in L.A.) they're really just a buncha creepy freaky ugly men in women-face and drag trying to weasel their way into female exclusive places and sports. And they've been known to get all bratty and violent when you call them out on their bullshit. And I had to drag in quite a few of those obnoxious creepy troublemakers kicking and screaming like spoiled brats that didn't get their way."
Then Naomi paused for a moment. "And then there's Aoi Futaba from Bokuto precinct. Hard to know what to make of that guy to be honest."
"Who is he?" Hadrian asked.
"Well, I never met him." Naomi replied. "But from what Miranda told me when she first went over to Tokyo, he started out as an undercover cop in an anti-pervert unit. Because he already had an effeminate build, face and voice(Guess he never went through puberty or something), He was disguised as a young woman and act as bait to catch those pervs. Apparently he actually liked dressing and acting like a woman so much that he plum forgot how to be a man and has been pretending to be a woman ever since. Miranda told me that Aoi's a really nice guy and is currently working as a meter-maid. And that his precinct's perfectly okay with this. And, now get this, my precinct got along with that dude as well when he went over there along with Natsumi and Miyuki. Go figure." She shrugged.
"Oh?" Both Hadrian and Cassandra cocked their heads.
"Maybe because, despite being a transvestite and maybe a trans-woman, Aoi isn't, well, a 'woke' radical left-winger like the ones we usually deal with. Well That's what Miranda, Chief, Cain, Rico and Sally told me."
Then The PA announced. "Agent Taylor please report to Medical. I discovered something rather interesting with that canon maid you brought in."
Naomi got up. "Canon maid? Welp guess that's that. Guess I'll see you guys later."
"Indeed, I must be on my way to psych-ward." Hadrian got up. "I wonder what he wishes to discuss. Well I suppose I will find out once I get there."
The three agents left Station#3 and made their way to the elevator. Naomi got off first when the elevator arrived at the deck where medical was located. No sooner as she went around the corner when she bumped into something big and hairy.
"Ngh!" She grunted. "Hey watch where you-" She started to say when looked at what she just bumped into. "Huh...? EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!" She scrambled back first into the wall looking completely freaked out. "AAAAH! OHMIGOD! A MONSTER! THERE'S A MONSTER IN HERE! SOMEONE HELP! I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!"
"Huh? A monster? Where?" The monster looked left and right with its shaggy horned head as it replied in a deep macho sounding voice. "Ooo no, I don't see any monster here. Dig it. Wait a minute. You're referring to me? I'm the monster?" He pointed at his face with his large claw.
"It-It can ta-ta-talk!?" Naomi stuttered as she continued to cower, tremble and whimper in fear. "And it sounds just like the late Macho Man Randy Savage?" The monster looked back at her and approached. "AH! Keep away from me! Don't come any closer! Please don't eat me! I don't taste good! *whimper whimper whimper*" She closed her eyes tight.
Then another voice interrupted. "Randy, turn human will ya? Can't you see you're scaring that girl shitless?"
Naomi timidly opened her eyes to notice this man with an Abe Lincoln style beard and wearing a bomber jacket and overalls standing next to the monster with his hands on his hips and impatiently tapping his foot.
The monster pulled out a disguise pen from his garishly colored loincloth. In a flash the monster transformed into a bearded human wearing a garish set of overalls and a cowboy hat and sunglasses.
"WHA-!?" Naomi gasped in complete surprise. "He even looks like the late Macho Man Randy Savage. What's going on here!?"
"Sorry 'bout spookin' ya earlier." Randy apologized to the still shaken up police officer. "It was gettin a bit cramped in my human disguise and I needed ta stretch out my legs a bit. Ooo yeah, I didn't think I'd bump into anyone out here."
"I'm guessing you're an agent." The man inquired and Naomi nodded. "Knight Lance Beckerson, Midwest Brotherhood Of Steel." Lance introduced himself. "And you already met Randy. We're from the 'Fallout' Continuum And we're posted in station #2. I take it this is the first time you met a hairy deathclaw."
"You're from 'Fallout'?" Naomi asked. "I'm familiar with that video-game series. My younger brother loves playing that on his X-Box."
Lance nodded. "Post apocalyptic Kansas actually. Randy's from a tribe of hairy deathclaws with a culture based on professional wrestling holotapes going all the way to the 'back when' times before the bombs dropped in 2077."
"2077? I'm kinda from a few decades before that." Naomi replied. "By the way, I'm Naomi Taylor, An L.A.P.D. officer from 'You're Under Arrest'. I'm currently assigned in Station #1"
"And yeah, this is the first time I met a hairy deathclaw." Naomi pointed at Randy. "I didn't realize how big and scary they actually looked*shudder*. And, no offense, Randy, I'd rather not run unto another one. Especially if they're from 'Fallout 4'."
"Yeah, I kinda get that a lot, oo yeah." Randy shrugged. "By the way, what brings ya down here?"
"I was on my way to Medical." Naomi answered. "Now I'll probably need to get a checkup while I'm there. You almost gave me a heart attack you know. Oh my nerves. So what about you two?"
"We're just coming back from Interrogation." Lance replied. "We just finished questioning the Major from 'Hellsing'. Then we neuralyzed both him and Integra before we returned them to their home continuum."
"Bit of advice; Don't try to eat the vampires there." Randy cautioned. "They taste like feral ghoul. Ooo yuck, I'm still trying to get the taste outta my mouth. Yeah dig it."
"I'll.. Aheh heh... I'll keep that in mind if I go on a mission that involves vampires." Naomi nervously chuckled. "So what was the Major doing?"
"It seems like he got his hands on an aphrodisiac from another continuum. Supplied to him by the stuthor that created the story we rescued Integra from. Are you familiar with 'Tales Of Vesperia' and a stuthor group called' Valssu'?"
"No." Naomi shook her head. "First time I heard of either one." She scratched her chin. "Might have to look up 'Vesperia' as soon as I get back. I have a feeling we'll be getting missions there."
"Yeah, I think so too." Lance replied. "See ya later." Lance and Randy headed for the elevator...
While Naomi pressed on to the medical-ward.
XXX
Several minutes later, Naomi entered the medical-ward. "Ah there you are, agent Taylor." Abigail, sitting at her desk next to Emma, who was sitting on a nearby chair greeted.
"Hey there, Doc." Naomi replied as she approached the desk. "So why do you want to see me?" Then she noticed Emma, still wearing her maid uniform, but her bonnet and apron were laying folded up on a nearby bed. "And why is Emma still here? Shouldn't she be back in London with William?" She inquired as she took a chair and sat down.
"Yes about miss Emma." Abigail adjusted her circular rimmed glasses. Then looked at Emma. "When I was giving her checkup, I discovered that she had been previously neuralyzed at least three times."
"She was WHAT!?" Naomi gasped. "How!?"
"She mentioned that she felt that she's seen you, agents Mackenzie and Kitteridge before." Abigail began to explain. "So, out of curiosity, I used my Legilimency spell to probe her memories and guess what I found; She has been neuralyzed before. Three times. Twice when she was 9 years old. And the third was when she was 16, just after she was discovered and employed by Kelly Stownar."
"Hold on, are you saying she was neuralyzed at least three times prior to 'Mandaruma'!?" Naomi asked.
Correct, agent Taylor." Abigail nodded. "So I had her de-neuralyzed and re-checked her memories. I saw you, agent Mackenzie and agent Kitteridge in those portions that were neuralyzed. Not only that, the adult Emma was also present in those memories."
"So you're telling me that we have some upcoming missions in 'Emma, A Victorian Romance' that take place in her past?" Naomi asked.
Abigail nodded. "It would appear so, agent Taylor. Funny how 4th dimensional physics works, eh."
Naomi looked at Emma. "And you're gonna be coming with us?"
"Yes, miss Taylor." Emma nodded. "It would appear so. And knowing what happened, and, well, what will happen, I feel I have to accompany you."
"And she will accompany you, agent Taylor." Abigail sternly stated, holding her pointing finger up. "On order to maintain a stable time loop as well as to keep that young lady's mind stable. Doctors orders. And I've already sent my findings to the dispatchers. So your station'll be getting those missions soon."
"Okaaaay." Naomi replied. "I'm gonna head down stairs to psych-ward to tell Frank about this. And maybe check up on that kid I exorcised if he hasn't already been neuralyzed and sent home." She got up from her chair. "Oh yeah, hey Emma, you wanna come with?"
"I was already down there earlier." Emma replied. "But I suppose I might as well accompany you back there anyway." She got up and collected her bonnet and apron. "Shall we go?"
"Sure." Naomi replied. And the two ladies left the medical-ward and made their way to the elevator. "You know I was thinking…"
"About what?" Emma asked as the turned the corner and approached the elevator.
"You kinda sound a bit like Fluttershy with a British accent." Naomi pressed the 'down' button.
"Pardon me. Fluttershy?" Emma asked as the door slid open and the two ladies entered. "Who's that?"
"Hoo boy. Me and my big mouth." Naomi thought as the door slid shut. "So, Naomi, how are you going to explain a talking pegasus from a 21th century cartoon series to a maid from 19th century Britain that hasn't even heard of television yet?"
XXX
The elevator arrived at its destination and Naomi and Emma exited. "So what do you think 'bout all that, Emma?" Naomi asked.
"Oh my! The fact that you're really from the future! How far we've come between my time and yours." Emma replied looking a bit swimmy -headed. "This... This is just so much for me to take in. And I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg. How am I going to handle all this?"
"I wouldn't worry about it, Emma." Naomi answered, patting the maid on her shoulder. "You'll likely forget about it when we return you to your time and place."
"Sigh. Just as well." Emma agreed. Before long, they arrived at the door to psych-ward.
Naomi opened the door and the two ladies entered. "We're here to see Franklin MacKenzie." Naomi told the desk clerk. "Can we see him, or do we have to-"
Just then the door behind the clerk opened and Franklin came out, along with the psychiatrist, Dr. Gustav Von Bauer (Think a human version of Ludwig Von Drake and You'll bet the basic idea of what he looks like), Hadrian and Cassandra.
"Vell vell, I vasn't expecting more visitors." Gustav said as he noticed both Naomi and Emma. "So, fräulein Taylor, vhat brings you und my former patient here, hm?
"Actually..." Naomi explained the situation concerning Emma.
"So. It looks like we got a few missions in her continuum coming up, huh." Franklin said.
"Yeah." Naomi replied Looking a tad concerned. "Back to wearing 19th century clothes, sigh."
Emma noticed Naomi's expression. "Miss Taylor, is there something wrong? You look a bit bothered. Don't you like wearing dresses? I recall that both you and miss Kitteridge looked quite pretty and stylish in those suits and skirts."
"It's not the skirts that's the problem, Emma." Naomi replied. "I wear skirts as often as I wear pants. I'm perfectly fine with wearing ankle length full skirts. It's the, um..." She whispers into Emma's ear, blushing slightly. "It's the women's underwear you ladies wore back then. I kinda feel really uncomfortable wearing something that exposes your privates and your butt-crack. Why are they designed like that?"
"Oh my." Emma blushed as she whispered back. "It makes it easier for us to, ahem, use the washroom when we go to do, well you know."
"I know, but still..." Naomi blushed.
"Are you two fräuleins done with ze discussion of ze ladies secrets?" Gustav interrupted. Both Naomi and Emma nodded sheepishly. "Ah, gut. I vish to discuss mein findings vith you as vell, if you vill."
Gustav adjusted his pince-nez glasses before continuing. "Now zat boy you depossessed, Yuichiro Tajima I believe his name vas, vas a most interesting subject on vhat it is like to be possessed by some spooky kooky wraith. Most interesting indeed. But he vas only vun example. If only I had another subject to cross reference." He looked at Hadrian. "But zat other vun was already neuralyzed und sent on his merry vay."
"We did not know you were looking for possessed canons to write your theory on, doctor Von Bauer." Hadrian replied.
"Vell, to be honest, herr Fabricus, neither vas I until I got Yuichiro on mein couch." Gustav said. "Anyhoo, I vould like you agents to send more depossessed canons mein vaw." He suggested. "Ze things I could learn from zem. It vould be wunderbar. Ja?"
"As you wish, doctor Von Bauer." Hadrian nodded.
"By the way, How's Yuichiro?' Naomi asked.
"Perfectly stable, fräulein Taylor. Vell as stable as Japanese teenagers go. Kooky bunch that lot. Never a dull moment vith zem around I'm telling you." Gustav answered. "Vunce he vas, I had him neuralyzed und sent home to das 'Big Windup'. So zat only leaves fräulein Emma." he looked at Emma as he adjusted his pince-nez specs. End Interlude 1
Author's Notes:
Just your bog standard meet-and-greet interlude with a bit of backstory on my agents.
Next chapter Franklin, Naomi, Miranda and special guest, Emma the maid are gonna travel back to the past. To deal with some crappy doujinshis that suck ass. They'd rather have a buffalo... Well you know the rest.
Later.
