Back at base, Xena had asked Gabrielle to talk with her privately so the two of them were standing in the vault.
"The world is going to turn on its head after this," said Gabrielle.
"All of the creatures will be coming out of the woodwork and war will more than likely break out between them and the humans," she said.
"You're probably right," said Xena.
"But I would like to focus on the here and now for a couple minutes and leave worrying about all of that for later," she said.
"What is it?" asked Gabrielle.
"I tried telling you this in the elevator earlier but when I would date someone, something just did not feel right," said Xena.
"And now I know why," she said.
"Why?" asked Gabrielle.
"Because none of them were you," said Xena before looking the other woman right in the eyes.
"Xena," said a stunned Gabrielle.
"Truth is I always liked you back when we traveled together, and I know that we said it a few times back then but I guess my feelings for you never really went away, even in this life they have been there," said Xena.
"Then how do you think I've felt having to live all this time with memories only?" asked Gabrielle.
"You mean?" asked a shocked Xena.
"Xena, you will always be one of the most important people in my life," said Gabrielle with a big grin.
"And seeing how you're a Goddess now, you'll live just as long as I will so I don't see a problem in us trying," she said.
"True, and would you happen to be free this Saturday?" asked Xena.
"I'm always free for you," said Gabrielle before kissing the other woman.
"This was long overdue," both women thought without moving out of the kiss.
