The Final Run
"You lose Barry!" ~ Savitar
Purple lighting can be seen streaking from Gotham City to Central City. Barry was holding his left leg as he was hop running, then limp running, then to a slow hop jogging style run before he started to run normally. Barry slid to a stop in his old neighborhood clenching his left leg painfully. He still wasn't at 100% let alone running at the top speed he did during the Black Zero Event.
There was a shooting pain going through Barry's leg. It felt as if all his muscles in the leg were tightening or he had a bunch of knives stuck in his legs. Barry fell to one knee favoring his left leg. Across town a streak of red lighting was racing across the city and stopped before Barry. Barry looked up to see Thawne in his yellow and red reverse-Flash suit and glowing red eyes. Thawne's eyes return to normal as he pulls back his mask looking at Barry with a sinister smile.
"Hey Flash." Thawne said in an evil voice. Barry let out a sigh, he didn't want to deal with Thawne, he was hoping he would just go home to the future and leave him in peace yet he is still here.
"Why do you hate me so much?" Barry asked weakly struggling to get to his feet standing tall and to give Thawne the respect and acknowledgement he deserves. As much as Barry hated him for killing his Mother in an alternate timeline, humanity and his Justice League are alive because of Thawne so that accounted for something in Barry's mind.
"I know you said it doesn't matter but it matters to me." Barry told him. Thawne just glared at him.
"I didn't always." Thawne told him. This took Barry back a little.
"I was obsessed with you. For so long I wanted to be the Flash. I spent years figuring out how you came to be. Duplicated the reaction and it worked! I became like you!" Thawne told him, laughing menacingly. Barry just stood there staring at Thawne not knowing what to say.
"S-So what happened? H-how did we become enemies?" Barry wanted to know. Maybe in this timeline things could be different where they don't have to be enemies.
Maybe Barry thought he could save Thawne from going down this path just like Supergirl tried to save Zod and convince him there was another way for the Kryptonains to have a future.
"This ability to travel through time revealed a truth. My fate was to become your greatest enemy. I was never going to be The Flash, so I became the reverse of everything that you were. The more people you saved, the more you were loved, the more I had to take from you." Thawne explained. Barry looked disgusted.
"That's why you killed the older Barry's mother? That's why you ruined his life? Because you couldn't be me?" Barry snapped at Thawne with purple lighting striking off his body.
"I BECAME BETTER THEN YOU!" Thawne yelled out with red eyes and a distorted voice.
"I became the one thing you can not stop Flash!" Thawne told Barry with venomous spite in his voice.
"NO! No, not anymore. Our race is over. You won, you got what you wanted, a future where you were born. Go home Thawne. There is no reason for us to fight and be enemies anymore!" Barry told him.
"No, destroying you is my life!" Thawne snapped at him.
"WHY? It doesn't have to be this way between us Thawne!" Barry pleaded. Thawne gave Barry a rage filled look holding up the peace sign to him. Barry perked an eyebrow.
"Almost two centuries from now. We met for the very first time. My part I finally discovered a way to possess speed. Speeds faster then anyone alive. Then as I was about to present myself to the world you showed up for some stupid case. You dazzled the crowd. Ah, you were dazzling and then you saved the crowd. The crowd I was meant to save, the crowd that was meant to thank me. You stole my greatest moment! I admired you and you humiliated me. It was at that moment I knew I had to get faster then you!" Thawne told him. Barry just shook his head heartbroken.
"Only a sociopath would react to something so small with that kind of rage." Barry told him.
"What you call rage I call commitment." Thawne told him.
"So if you wont stop hating me what happens now?" Barry inquired.
"I continue my life's work finding new ways to kill you across the multiverse." Thawne revealed with an evil smile. Barry just shook his head.
"I want to save you Thawne." Barry said in a heart broken tone. Thawne was taken back by this laughing a bit.
"You want to save me? Is this a joke?" Thawne said laughing.
"No, I'm serious. You know when you told me how we became enemies when you presented yourself to the world." Barry said, carefully approaching Thawne.
"Greatest day of my life till now." Thawne told him with a smirk.
"Up until that point in your life you admired me. You wanted to be a hero, you have shown that in the battle of the Kryptonains you can be a hero." Barry pointed out.
"And you destroyed everything I worked for. You saved that crowd. Future you took the credit that I should have had." Thawne told him.
"I know, and I'm sorry." Barry told him. Thawne again was taken back by this Barry's earnest need to try to make amends to him and to give Thawne what he wanted acknowledgement and recognition.
"But you can still have a better life, a life you saw for yourself. In this timeline, in this universe, on this Earth things can be different between us. We don't have to be enemies and you can be the Flash of your age, you can be the hero." Barry pleaded with Thawne.
"Don't you see all we do is cause each other pain across the timelines and multiverse, but here it doesn't have to be that way. We don't have to repeat the cycle. You and I can break the cycle and create a new future for you. The future you want!" Barry tried so hard to reach Thawne with his words and appeal to his heart.
"But tonight you can change all that, just go home Thawne and I'll make sure in this timeline you save the crowd and you get your greatest moment and be the hero you always wanted to be. I'll make sure you get the life you always wanted for yourself. It's the least I can do for the help you gave us in saving our world from the Kryptonains." Barry told him. Thawne just stared at Barry in deep thought of everything he had said.
"Don't you know who I am? I have always been the hero, you're the villain Flash. You're the one who reversed my entire life and dragged me into hell, that's why I'm going to kill your parents and make you suffer! For everything you did to me! I said you could have it all but I didn't say for how long!" Thawne put his mask back on with his eyes glowing red and his whole body phasing into a blurry horror construct surrounded by red lighting.
"Thawne, don't! Please don't! It doesn't have to be this way!" Barry pleaded.
"Even if you create that future for your timeline's Thawne it will be his life, his future, not MINE!" Thawne yelled.
"Everything I do is because I hate you!" Thawne said, running toward the Allen Home. Barry let out a sigh realizing Thawne was beyond reason and needed to be stopped.
Not only did Barry need to stop this alternate future Thawne and save his parents but he needed to make sure his timeline's Thawne didn't follow the same path as him. Barry gave chase to Thawne.
Red and purple lighting raced down the road toward the Allen house with Barry trying to reach for the shoulder of Thawne but the pain of his left leg prevented him from moving faster. The red and purple lighting broke through the front window of the Allen home alarming Henry and Nora Allen as they saw red and purple lighting clashing in a violent circle across their walls seeing blurry images of two people fighting.
Nora tried to get out of the way but was knocked to her knees as the purple and red lighting raced around her. Henry tried to get in close but couldn't as he called out to Nora. Meanwhile, in the upper atmosphere Supergirl was listening for Barry scanning Gotham and Metropolis for him with Bruce in her ear guiding her as he sat in a black bath robe and a coffee at the Batcomputer monitoring the crimewave for anything resembling The Flash.
"Nora!" Henry screamed.
"NO! STAY BACK HENRY!" Nora begged not knowing what's going on.
Thawne got the upper hand on Barry knocking him to the ground for Nora and Henry to see him.
"BARRY?!?" Nora said in a confused tone.
The Reverse-Flash appeared behind Henry Allen restraining him. Barry struggled to his feet, battered, beaten, and sweaty, as he looked up at Thawne with horror across his face.
"Our story will continue Flash! It is inevitable! We are inevitable!" Thawne told him.
"Dad? Dad…" Barry said weakly staggering to his feet favoring his left leg in the brace.
"It's poetic, returning to your childhood home and correcting this event, the birth of your hatred for me. Our rivalry!" Thawne told him.
"Thawne, don't do this! I'm begging you!" Barry pleaded.
"I'm begging you! Take me! Kill me!" Barry told him.
"NO!" Henry yelled.
"Still refuse to believe we are the opposite and reverse of one another?" Thawne mocked.
"Thawne please!" Barry pleaded with tears in his eyes.
"Barry, look at me son." Henry said outloud in a scared voice. Barry turned to his father.
"Whatever happens, you have made me the happiest father!" Henry told him.
"Dad!" Barry said.
"Time to make you believe! This time, you will suffer a tragedy so horrible you will not recover! " Thawne said.
"Barry your mother and I love--" Reverse-Flash ran his vibrating hand through the chest of Henry Allen and killed him instantly.
"NO!" Barry screamed out entering Flash time racing toward his dad seeing him killed in slow motion.
"NOOO!" Nora screamed out in horror.
Supergirl heard the screams of Nora Allen turning her head toward Central City with a horrified look on her face as she flew hard and fast breaking the sound barrier heading toward the Allen Home.
Barry caught his Father and eased him down gently to the ground in time seeing Thawne race around the corner to his Mother. Barry had no time to grieve, process, or take in the fact his Father was dead.
Instead he got up racing around the hall to cut Thawne off to attack him but Thawne slid, tripping Barry up, picking him up over his head and tossed him down the hallway into a desk. Barry quickly got to his feet fighting the agonizing pain he was in to race to save his mother but he was too late. Thawne had grabbed a knife and plunged it in her heart in front of him. Thawne caught Barry and flung him into the side of the staircase knocking him to the ground.
"I win Flash! Now you're just like all the other Barry Allens. See you soon Flash!" Thawne raced out the house. Supergirl was high above Central City when she saw the streak of red lighting and flew to chase it down.
"You're fast, but I'm faster!" Thawne said looking over his shoulder at Supergirl flying in about to grab his shoulder when Thawne bolted head entering the Speed Force and at last able to return home to the future.
Supergirl missed the grab tumbling across the ground before ending up on all fours. Supergirl gets to her feet with an angry look then remembering the Allens and flies off back to the Allen home. Barry crawls over to his Mother taking her hand in his looking over to her as she looks up at him.
"It's okay, it's okay." Barry tried to reassure her, seeing the blood soak through her shirt and pooling on the floor.
"Who are you?" Nora said weakly with blurred vision.
"It's Barry, your Barry mom." Barry said as he clutched his dying Mother.
"My Barry…" Nora held Barry's face with her bloody hands.
"I love you mom…" Barry told her.
"I loved you first…" Nora said weakly.
"I love you most." Barry said as Nora's hand's fell to the ground and she closed her eyes for the last time.
Barry just sat there cradling with Mother with tears running down his face. He heard a sound looking at the doorway to see Supergirl just standing in the hallway with a horrified look.
"Bruce, get over here now. Thawne killed Barry's parents in front of him." Supergirl said, tapping the mic on her ear.
In the Batcave, when Bruce heard what Supergirl said he immediately got up and raced up the stairs putting on a three piece brown suit and got into one of his luxury cars and raced toward Central City. Supergirl looked back at Barry and saw it when she looked in his eyes. Zod and Thawne had pushed Barry Allen so far into the dark. This was the moment Savitar was born in the heart of Barry Allen…
