Human In The Unikingdom: By LayZLH
Chapter 2 - Strange Awakening
Once consciousness returned to me, the pain immediately hit me. My head was throbbing, and my eyes were struggling to open, I felt like my whole entire body was numb and I was incapable of feeling anything. It took some effort, but I finally manged to fully open my eyes, only to be met with the unusual sight of the tops of many trees surrounding me. Confused and disorientated, I rose my body up and looked around my surrounds, only to discover that I was no longer in the shed, or frankly, anywhere near my house, but instead, I was currently lying in a small opening of what looked like a massive forest.
I then muttered to myself in confusion. "Huh, where am I?"
I rubbed my head, trying my best to mentally configure what was happening to me, I tried to recall the previous events that led up to this, but nothing was coming to me. What was going on? Where am I? Is this even real or is all this just some elaborate hallucination? I didn't know what to think about my current situation, and I wasn't sure if my brain could answer any of these questions.
I was slowly beginning to freak out as my breathing became frantic, I had just ended up in an unfamiliar place with no recollection of the lead up to it, and I wasn't even sure If I could find a way back home. Eventually, I was able to keep my composure with the reassurance that I was still alive and well. But I needed to get some information as to where I am, and to do that, I was going to have to explore around this forest in hopes of finding civilization.
Finally able to find my feet, I got up off the ground and stood up and decided to take a closer look around me to see if I could spot anything out of the ordinary. But as I looked around, I couldn't help but feel like something was a little⦠off about the forest that I currently inhabited in, I couldn't tell what it was exactly, but the forest just didn't seem right to me.
After thinking about why this forest felt off to me, I simply just shrugged it off as me still being on edge from ending up here. Taking one big exhale of air, I started to walk forward as I made my way deeper into the forest.
I called out. "Hello!? Anyone here?! Hello?!" But I received no response.
It was maybe about two minutes or so since I started walking aimlessly through this forest, and there were still no signs of civilization, it was as if I was completely alone in this unfamiliar world, but that couldn't have been the case, someone had to be living here, I just wasn't looking hard enough. Eventually, my legs grew tired from walking so much as I looked around for a place to rest.
At that moment, I could hear something, it was very faint as if it was a distance away, but from what I could make out, it sounded like a flowing river. I followed the source of the noise and, sure enough, there was a small river flowing peacefully through an open part of the forest, the water sparkled in the sunlight.
I then got down on my knees and scooped out some of the water with my hands and splashed it on my face, the feeling of the cold water hitting my face seemed to have helped calm me down. I didn't even mind that my hoodie had gotten a little drenched.
As I got back up, I was pondering over what to do now, when I suddenly got this strange feeling, like I was being watched. But when I looked around, there was no one nearby.
I called out again worriedly. "Hello?! Is someone there?!" But again, there was no response.
I was getting worried now, why did I feel this way? There had to have bene someone watching me, but there were no forms of life as far as I could see.
Suddenly, a voice chimed out. "Hiiiee!"
Startled by the high-pitched voice, I quickly scanned around the area for the person the voice belonged to. Then the same voice called out again.
"Up here."
It sounded like it was coming from somewhere above me. I slowly looked up and I soon figured out the source of the voice, and needless to say, I was speechless. Hovering less than a few feet above me, was what looked like a pink four-legged creature, it had a light pink muzzle, red cheeks, hot pink triangular ears and big blue eyes, which both had a single eyelash on the sides, so I assumed that it was a female. Her front hooves were blue and her back hooves were yellow, and she had a bushy white and blue tail behind her. But what made me stare blankly at this thing was that I could see that there was a blue unicorn horn protruding out of the top of her head.
As soon as I laid eyes on her, I immediately jumped back as I continued to stare at her, unable to believe what I was seeing before my very eyes. I rubbed my eyes, just to make sure that this wasn't a hallucination, but when I looked back, the creature was still hovering above me with a wide smile on her face. What was strange was that this creature was levitating without the use of wings or anything.
"Hiiiee!" She repeated.
Unable to find the right words, I just fell silent as I knew that the only thing that would come out of my mouth would either be a blood curdling scream or a series of incoherent stutters. After a moment of silence between us, the creature looked at me with a confused expression as she tilted her head.
"Huh, not much of a talker, aren't cha?"
What does she want me to say? She was unlike anything I had ever seen in my whole entire life and she expects me to say something about it? Finally able to form a coherent sentence, I said.
"Wh...Who are you?" I asked nervously. "And... what are you?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners?" The creature apologized, before she hovered down to the ground and approached me. "My name is Princess Unikitty, but you can just call me Unikitty for short, not that I like to brag or anything, but I am in fact a princess."
Well, at least I knew the creature by name now.
"Sooo, what's your name?" Unikitty asked me, putting her face close to mine.
"Whoa!" I exclaimed in surprise. "Uh.. personal space."
"Oh, sorry." Unikitty apologized again before she backed off. "I just can't help myself, I LOVE making new friends!"
When she said that, small little symbols emitted from her head, such as love hearts, smiling faces and many more to show off just how excited she was. Honestly, if I wasn't so confused right now, I probably would've found it kind of adorable.
"Well... uh... anyways." I stuttered, still feeling a little uncomfortable. "My name is Lukas, it's.. uh.. nice to meet you, Unikitty."
Unikitty beamed at this. "Nice to meet you, too, Lukas. I can tell we're going to be bestest friends."
"Yeah." I replied in a slightly uncomfortable way as I chuckled nervously. "Say, uh, mind telling me where I am exactly?"
"Why, you're in the Unikingdom, of course." Unikitty answered, while dancing around. "The most super-tastic place in the woooorrrld!" She said the last part in a sing-song voice as stars began shooting out of her head in excitement, before she approached me again. "So Lukas, where ya from? You don't look like you're from around here."
"Oh, uh... I'm from California." I replied, earning a confused look from Unikitty.
"Cali-forn-ia?" She said slowly, like she was having difficulty pronouncing the name. "Never heard of that place."
I chuckled. "I kind of figured you wouldn't."
Unikitty then decided to ask me another question. "Well anyways, how did you get here?"
I groaned and rubbed my head, trying my best to recall the previous events prior to me coming across the portal. "Uh.. I don't... know. The last thing I remember is seeing a portal in my shed, and it sucked me in, and then, everything went black."
"Ooh, fascinating!" Unikitty replied, clearly interested in this, before she suddenly realized something. "Wait, did you say portal?"
I nodded in response as Unikitty put a paw on her chin. "Hmm, well. Dr. Fox has been experimenting with portals recently, I wonder if she has anything to do with this."
"Who's Dr. Fox?" I asked, not recognizing that name.
Just then, Unikitty's eyes widened as her pupils became stars, she gasped excitedly. "Oh my gosh, I HAVE to introduce you to my friends!" She squealed, before hovering up into the air again. "Come on, Lukas. The Unikingdom's not that far away."
Before I even had a chance to say anything, Unikitty had already taken off.
"H.. Hey! Wait for me!" I called out.
As I ran after Unikitty, I was wondering if would ever find a way back home. Of course I would, I mean, it's not like I'm going to be forever stuck in this world with no methods of getting back home.
Right?
