AN: I am going to be skipping 5 days into the future mostly because I don't know what Frog Kumite actually looks like.
- 26 days left until the finals-
Jiraiya was impressed, he and the brat had been working on accommodating the useable katas of frog kumite (the one's that didn't require a certain special power to be effective) into his taijutsu and he could honestly say it had been a rounding success, he noted that once Naruto put his mind to something would work his ass off to get it done, but practice can only show so much, they needed proof that Naruto could actual use the katas.
Right now, the both of them were on opposite ends of the Third training ground, staring at each other, ready for combat and battle.
"Well, brat, you ready?" asked Jiraiya, his smile showing.
"Bring it on, old man!" shouted Naruto, as Jiraiya chuckled, time to show this brat why he was considered legendary.
"Alright, begin!" shouted Jiraiya as Naruto rushed at him, to which Jiraiya frowned.
'The brat really needs to take in some strategy, he's just rushing in, no analysis, no nothing, this could get him killed,' thought Jiraiya, as Naruto threw a punch to Jiraiya's right but it was quickly blocked before Naruto then took the opportunity to roundhouse kick the aging man but it hit air as Jiraiya had sidestepped and had attempted to punch Naruto who blocked it himself.
Naruto then rolled under Jiraiya's legs, and started to punch and kick the man who blocked each and every one, and returned them, though he had limited himself to chunin level strength and speed to give the brat an actual spar and not beat his ass as he did a few times before, to show Naruto the difference between a genin like himself and a skilled shinobi
'At least his taijutsu has actually improved, his punches and kickes are no longer obvious,' thought Jiraiya, as they continued to spar, Naruto throwed two punches which Jiraiya caught and Naruto, used this opportunity to attempt to kick him in the face, albeit Jiraiya moved his face slightly, to stop the boy from actually hitting him.
Jiraiya then threw Naruto away, who then landed at his feet and rushed back at Jiraiya, this time he jumped over Jiraiya, using his shoulders to balance himself, before attempting to kick him in the back but Jiraiya grabbed him by his leg and threw him onto the floor.
"Come on, brat, is that really all you can do?" asked Jiraiya, no sweat or tiredness could be gleaned from him, as Naruto got back up, "I expected better!"
"Oh yeah!" shouted Naruto, as he rushed and attacked with new vigor.
-1 hour later-
"Well brat, that's impressive," said Jiraiya, as Naruto breathed in and out, tired, as they both sat against a tree and Naruto popped open a water bottle.
"Jiraiya, nice to see you training young Naruto, here, seriously," said a voice, which both Jiraiya and Naruto recognised as the Third Hokage jumped down, in front of both of them.
"Old man!" shouted Naruto, excited, though he made no move to get up, Jiraiya, on the other hand, was happy to know that the boy had a positive relationship with his own sensei.
"Hello, Naruto, I saw that spar, that was impressive, low chunin level even and much better than the fight against Kiba, you've grown especially from the preliminaries," said Sarutobi, as Naruto smiled happily.
"Yeah, the brat picks up things quickly when he puts his mind to things," said Jiraiya, "by the way, how are you, sensei?"
"Sensei? Wait, you're the old man's student?" asked Naruto, his face showing amazement, to which Jiraiya, smiled, at least now, he might actually get proper respect from the boy.
"Indeed, Jiraiya is one of my students, you have already met one of my other students too, Orochimaru," said Sarutobi, with a sad look on his face.
"You mean, the snake weirdo?" asked Naruto, Jiraiya let out a snort, he would want to see Orochimaru's face when Naruto calls him that and with the brat's personality, he definitely would.
"Yeah, the brat had a five pronged seal on him, been messing with his chakra," said Jiraiya, to which Sarutobi nodded.
"No wonder, you didn't flood the entire arena with clones to beat up Kiba, making your fight with him even more impressive, I should leave you now, I still have a lot of work and you still have a lot of training to do, Naruto," said Sarutobi, smiling, as he disappeared in smoke and leaves, leaving the boy and the man to continue the training.
-2 hours later-
Naruto couldn't get why Jiraiya was forcing him to learn strategy, it was so boring to the young Uzumaki, to have to read old scrolls and books on a topic, that he barely used, while Jiraiya could only sigh at the young boy's antics, he clearly needed a reality check if the boy was actually going to become a true Chunin and Jiraiya it would seem would have to be the one to give it to him.
"Come on, can't we do something else?" groaned Naruto, as Jiraiya let out a sigh, it seemed that he would have to go with the alternative option to teach the boy as the talks weren't getting to him.
He had given the boy multiple lectures about the importance of strategy but none of them were getting into his head clearly, as the boy still complained about having to read.
"Okay, brat, go to training ground 3 in an hour," said Jiraiya, as Naruto nodded.
'Sorry, brat but you made me do this,' thought Jiraiya as he disappeared in smoke.
-An hour later-
Naruto entered the training ground to find Jiraiya waiting for him as Jiraiya jumped at him to which Naruto was surprised before getting focused and ready for the spar, Jiraiya had decided to use a kunai against Naruto who had replicated the gesture resulting in this spar, being more serious than the ones done previously.
Naruto dodged the kunai and attacked with own
Jiraiya kicked Naruto in his stomach, to which he rolled onto the ground, before getting up and as Jiraiya was about to stab him with a kunai, he quickly substituted with what he believed was a log, but as the smoke cleared, it was revealed to be his teammate, Sasuke Uchiha.
"Naruto?" asked Sasuke, shocked, as he crumpled over, landing on the ground and Naruto rushed to him.
"Pervy sage, get a medic, Sasuke, I'm so sorry!" shouted Naruto, frantically, as Sasuke looked at him, his eyes cold and dead. Then the oddest thing happened, the body seemed to dissipate into smoke as Naruto frantically looked around.
"Wait where's Sasuke?" asked Naruto, desperately trying to find his comrade.
"The Uchiha's not here, kid, that was a genjutsu," said Jiraiya, as Naruto looked at him with tears in his eyes before getting angry, as red chakra seemed to seep out.
"To show you the importance of strategy, brat," said Jiraiya, as Naruto looked at him like a deer in head lights.
"Huh?" asked Naruto, the red chakra dissipating as confusion seeped in.
"I wanted you to see what happens when you just fight, when you don't have a plan, when you don't analyze your opponent," said Jiraiya, seriously as Naruto understood what this truly was, not some sick joke, but to get the lectures, Jiraiya had been giving him into his head on the importance, of strategy, Jiraiya didn't do this but Naruto did, simply because he didn't listen, simply because he believed that he presumed to know better that a shinobi who had been around way longer than him.
"Okay, what do I have to do?" asked Naruto, his face once again showing determination, as he never wanted that genjutsu to become reality, he didn't want to be the reason his teammates died.
"Simple, you start by reading those books, I gave you," said Jiraiya as Naruto nodded, 'seems the reality check worked.'
"Okay," said Naruto, as he summoned a shadow clone to help him read the books, and he picked up the book on the basic of strategy while the clone opened the book on analysis.
-2 days later, 24 days left until the finals-
"Now then brat, time for nature transformation or change in chakra nature, let's find out your chakra affinities," said Jiraiya, trying to make it sound extremely exciting, as Naruto smiled before looking confused.
"ah, pervy sage, umm, what's Nature transformation and chakra affinities?" asked Naruto, as Jiraiya let out a sigh.
"Nature transformation is basically an advanced form of chakra control that includes molding and defining the nature of one's chakra, altering it's characteristics and properties for use in jutsu, there are 5 basic nature transformations which are the foundation for all elemental transformation, fire, wind, lightning, water and earth, and chakra affinity basically means that one's chakra has an affinity for one of the five basic changes in chakra nature, maybe even more than one affinity, the affinity also tells us what jutsu is easier for you," explained Jiraiya, as Naruto nodded.
"How do you check your affinities?" asked Naruto.
"Simple, you use paper made from a special type of tree, called litmus paper, you focus chakra into the paper and depending on the reactions, you could have a certain affinity, if the paper lights, you have a fire affinity, if the paper splits in two, you have a wind affinity, if the paper wrinkles, you have lightning, if the paper turns to dirt, you have an earth affinity, and if the paper becomes wet or damp, you have a water affinity, got it?" asked Jiraiya, as Naruto nodded, and he pulled out five pieces of small square paper.
"Now brat, focus your chakra into the first litmus paper, it will tell you, your first chakra, then the second litmus paper, to find out if you have a second chakra nature, and continue on until one of the affinity repeats, that will tell you all of your chakra natures," explained Jiraiya as Naruto started on the first litmus paper and it cut in half, than moved onto the second which ignited, the third than wrinkled, the fourth than became damp and the fifth turned to dirt.
'Fire, wind, and lightning are Minato's and water is Kushina, and chakra natures can be inherited, but where the hell did Earth come from? Maybe the brat was lucky, or maybe because of genetics, ahh it doesn't matter,' thought Jiraiya, with a shrug.
"Well brat, seems that you are in one of the rarest minorities in the 5 nations, having all 5 chakra natures is extremely rare," explained Jiraiya to which Naruto thought about all the cool jutsu he could do.
"I'm awesome," said Naruto.
"Now then brat, you're going to have to master the elements before you can use them to their full effectiveness," said Jiraiya.
"How do I do that?" asked Naruto.
"Simple, the first step is depending on the nature, but they are very similar, for fire, you're going to have to do the leaf burning exercise, for water, the leaf dampening exercise, for earth, the leaf dirtening, or something like that, exercise, for lightning, the leaf piercing exercise and for wind, the leaf cutting exercise," answered Jiraiya, to which Naruto nodded.
"Are you going to help me?" asked Naruto, as Jiraiya nodded.
"begin the exercises, summon hundreds of clones and have them do the different first steps," ordered Jiraiya, as Naruto nodded, as he did a sign and hundreds of clones appeared who grabbed and leaves and themselves began practising the exercise. What Naruto didn't know is that the exercise that he was trying to do was one of the most difficult in the leaf.
You see mastering one chakra nature takes months or even years and often requires great patience, this is often the reason most Chunin only master one nature, and most Jounin only two or three simply, because they don't want or have the amount of time required to master all five, and this brat is trying to shorten it down.
Jiraiya watched this before checking to see special types of seals in his pocket, and thought 'I should be ready if he starts accessing nine tails' power.'
-2 day later, 22 days left until the Chunin finals-
Naruto gritted his teeth as he tried again and again but the damn leaf didn't get cut at all, his anger grew and grew as he focused chakra in different ways but nothing changed. Suddenly he felt more powerful, as he let out a yell as nine tails power started to come out and formed tails which attacked Naruto's clones and dispelled them.
"Pervy sage, help!" shouted a clone as Jiraiya rushed over and tagged the boy with a tag on his forehead, and the boy watched as the chakra went away.
"Well, brat, seems you need a bit of help, why don't you ask sensei for help?" suggested Jiraiya.
"Huh, why?" asked Naruto.
"Naruto, Sarutobi sensei is the only one other than you who has all five nature transformations and has actually mastered them," answered Jiraiya, as Naruto looked shocked.
-At the Hokage's office-
"Old man, I need your help!" shouted Naruto, as he rushed in to find Sarutobi sitting at his desk doing paper work, the man smoked his pipe before looking up at the young Uzumaki.
"Exactly, what is it you need help with Naruto?" asked Sarutobi with a smoke of his pipe.
"You have mastered all five changes in chakra nature?" asked Naruto, as Sarutobi nodded with a raised brow, "well umm, I kind of need a few tips to master the first step."
"The different variants of the leaf exercise," said Sarutobi, "exactly, why do you want to know tips about how to do them?"
"Well me and Pervy Sage found out I have all five chakra affinities, and am trying to master them before the exam," answered Naruto, quickly and excitedly.
"Are you sure, you can master all five in the span of a month?" asked Sarutobi, as Naruto began to nod.
"Am I interrupting something?" asked a voice as a black haired bearded man dressed in a Jounin outfit.
"You!" shouted Naruto, "you're Shikamaru's sensei!"
"And you're one of Kakashi's students, Naruto, right?" asked the man.
"Ahh, Asuma, there you are, how is young Shikamaru's training going?" asked the Third to the man.
"Good, so Naruto, what are you doing in the Hokage's office?" asked Asuma, as Naruto tried to explain.
"Naruto, here, is asking for help with the first step of nature transformation mastery," answered the Third.
"Oh yeah and which natures?" asked Asuma.
"I have all 5 chakra affinities," answered Naruto, as Asuma's eye widened, before nodding in understanding.
'No wonder, he came to him for help,' thought Asuma.
"I'll help explain to you, wind and fire but you have to pay for Shikamaru victory meal," said Asuma, to which Naruto nods, eagerly.
"deal!" shouted Naruto, "but if I win you're paying for mine."
-At the training ground-
Naruto ate the apple that Jiraiya had given to him, after the training as he waited for the memories and chakra to return for him after asking for help from the old man and once he did he was amazed at what he actually had to do in the training, turns out it wasn't as complex as he had originally thought as the old man and Asuma had explained it.
"So brat, got what you needed?" asked Jiraiya, as Naruto smirked.
"Yeah," said Naruto, as he summoned hundreds of clones once again.
-At the Hokage's office-
"Do you really think that he could master all 5 changes in chakra nature before the exam?" asked Asuma, turning to his father.
"The boy did master shadow clones and multi shadow clones in about 2 hours, he also seems to be using hundreds of them to master the changes," mused Hiruzen as Asuma looked at him, as Sarutobi waved towards his crystal ball.
Asuma looked through the crystal ball and what he saw on the other side, surprised beyond all else
"I knew he had large chakra reserves, but even I couldn't imagine that he had that large," said Asuma.
"He might be the only one, currently alive who can use this form of training," mused Sarutobi, as Asuma turned towards him.
"Who, dead, could use this training?" asked Asuma, amazed.
"The first Hokage," answered Sarutobi, as Asuma looked at his father surprised.
AN: I am too lazy to actually write the description of what Asuma told him as it would take too long and I might do so in the future once I figure out what it is I am supposed to write, about each element, as wind I could easily write about but I don't know what to put for fire, earth, lightning and water.
