Anakin retreated, as Padme was given some mild sedatives that did numb her consciousness a bit - she needed to be completely relaxed for this procedure. Ahsoka arrived back - it appeared she needed to talk with Captain Rex after a long time - and wanted to come closer to Anakin, but also felt he might need space, while he would await what would come next. The birth of two children. A boy and a girl.
It took some time like this. Anakin himself had already worn a different personality and outlook. Far from being a Jedi warrior, let alone a dark Sith knight, he was now a normal and anxious civilian who was simply a husband and soon to be father. It was a family drama now.
The droid finally said, "The body has stabilised for the birth… There's only one thing to do now…" Push. Of course. Anakin knew that much at least - though he wasn't a medical expert. It was a difficult thing for most women, whether human or not, but Padme, though she had recovered, was still quite weak herself. So, it would be even harder.
According to the vision… That he had those many days, or weeks ago… Obi-Wan was supposed to be delivering… The thought arrived at Anakin.
Anakin stood, waiting. The wait was indefinite. And then, the process started, "Honey! You can do this," he said, with a smile. A real smile, a nervous smile - well it was both - he was relived and lighter now for sure - all he had to do was support Padme at this moment and then the new phase of their life would begin. Anakin was lighter, indeed. There was still tension, anxiety, and worry, and a sense of hurry, but there was heartfullness, and happiness, too; a promise of a new future.
Anakin waited - this was his state - his emotional state - he relaxed - took many deep breaths - and waited - as he heard Padme cry in pain and push and push. He looked at her again, and she was in tears from the pain - a normal medical occurrence - and she whispered, 'Ani…'
He wished to hold her hand during it all - but he was not allowed to - and he was anyway still in cuffs.
Now - things would be revealed - the process would end - and -
It just did. The droid moved aside towards her feet and under her gown and removed something that had started crying.
This was it. In the vision again, it was Obi-Wan who was with her and comforting her. This reality is following through with the vision… This was news indeed for Anakin. With everything he had done and he everything he had believed in and everything he had based his decisions upon.
It was a boy. The droid lifted him and took him to Padme. She didn't smile, being too exhausted to do so, but Anakin could clearly hear a smile through her. "Luke…" His son.
"We have to do it again."
Again, Anakin could 'hear' a nod from Padme, even though she did not make any gestures or say anything. And the same thing happened for the next few minutes – or even shorter, perhaps merely a few seconds.
The other child of Anakin was removed from beneath her. The girl. And Padme said "Leia…" when brought face to face with her.
This was it, again. Anakin's children were born. And now they'd be parents. Happy parents in fact – even if Anakin could not be in this planet or anywhere close – that was another matter to resolve – how he'd handle the family if he was exiled – but surely, that would be sorted out, too.
Obi-Wan walked a bit forward and looked at Anakin. He was confused whether he should put his hand on his shoulder, but ultimately, he did do so; "Always in motion, the future is." Ahsoka too moved forward and tried to give a half-smile.
That was true.
"Padme…" Anakin said.
"I'm afraid she will need to rest more now," said the droid. But the nurse-droid took another look at her, and then on the computer. "But somethings seem wrong right now – we did not expect this at all."
