It was a beautiful quiet day in the jungles of Africa. In fact, one of the only sounds that could be heard was Nocturne calling out to his friends Danny Phantom and Ember McClain.

"Hello? Phantom? Ember?" Nocturne called out once again.

When no-one answered. He shrugged and said, "I'll just wait here. All alone. I don't mind. In fact…."

He sighed in content and finished, "I enjoy the quiet."

He was unaware that in the bushes behind him, was a smirking Ember McClain, who found the perfect opportunity to scare Nocturne.

Speaking of which, Nocturne now seemed a little nervous about it being so quiet that he spoke with slight fear, "Oh sure, a predator could burst out and attack me at any second and there'd be no-one to hear me scream…."

Ember continued to sneak up behind him as he then calmed down and said, "But I'm a calm lake. A sea of tranquillity."

She saw her chance. She pulled one of his tentacles and shouted, "BOO!"

Nocturne screamed in fright and jumped in the air and before Ember could react, Nocturne landed right on top of her, crushing her a bit. Ember groaned and pushed her head out from underneath him and said, "I beg your pardon but….GET OFF ME!"

Nocturne calmed down as soon as he saw it was Ember and said as he climbed off her, "Oh Ember! You scared me to death!"

"Really? Considering you're a ghost." Ember said as she stood up.

She dusted herself off and asked, "So where's Danny? He should be here by now."

"Maybe he forgot." Nocturne suggested about their friend. "The Lord of the Jungle has a very busy schedule you know."

"Oh come on! What's more important than an afternoon of mindless frolicking with old pals huh?" Ember said smiling.

Suddenly the sound of laughter could be heard and they looked up to see Danny and Sam swinging across the vines together. Nocturne smiled at the two and said, "How about an afternoon of mindless frolicking with a new pal huh?"

Sam swung by Danny and bumped him a bit as she called out, "One side slow-poke!"

Danny laughed and called back, "Cheater!"

Nocturne sighed as he said, "Danny's in love."

Ember on the other hand, looked down and said sadly, "He…..he forgot us."

THE LEGEND OF PHANTOM: Race Against Time PART 1

It had been a few months since Danny along with his friends defeated Vlad. After almost getting on the ship and going back to Amity Park, Sam finally realised that she loved Danny and decided to stay with him and his ghost family. The two of them got married and were a happy couple, living among the ghosts and in the tree-top house Danny's parents had built.

Sam wasn't the only one who decided to stay. Tucker also decided to stay and set up his home where they first set up camp when they arrived and yes….as Mr Lancer promised, he was sent supplies and technology to suit his needs and continue his ongoing research and study of ghosts.

Sam laughed as she swung on the vines and landed on one of the large tree branches. Danny swung himself over to a tree, surfed on the branch for a little bit before landing in front of Sam.

"Not bad, though a little traditional." Sam commented, before standing up. "Now, check out this new move I've been working on."

She ran over and jumped off the branch, reaching out for the vine but completely missed and began to fall to the ground below.

"Danny! A LITTLE HELP!" Sam screamed as she fell.

Danny quickly changed into his ghost form and jumped after her. He quickly grabbed her and flew up before she could hit the ground, placing her safely on another branch. He changed back into his human form and then sat down in front of her.

Sam sighed in relief as she said, "Thanks for the save. Also rather traditional."

Danny laughed and said, "That's enough for today. Besides, I did promise Ember and Nocturne I'd hang out with them and I'm already late."

"Okay. How about one more race to the treehouse before you go?" Sam asked as she grabbed a vine.

"You're on." Danny said and the two swung, heading to the treehouse.

Ember scoffed at the sight, "Pathetic. I know rhinos who can swing better than that. What Danny sees in her is beyond me."

Nocturne sighed and assured his friend, "Oh Ember. It's perfectly understandable for you to be jealous of Sam."

Ember scoffed, "Jealous? Me? Of Sam? Please! I am simply stating the facts here!"

Danny finally arrived, landing on the ground in front of them, and apologised before he asked, "Sorry I'm late. What was that about Sam?"

Nocturne panicked a little and grabbed Ember, covering her mouth as he tried to lie, "Phantom! Um….we we're just talking about you and the Mrs….I mean….not in a gossiping kid of way! It was very respectful, right Ember?"

Ember shoved Nocturne off her and smirked as she began to be honest, "As a matter of fact, I was just saying that your wife in no shape or form, belongs in the….."

"SNAKE!" Danny shouted as he pointed behind Ember.

Ember screamed as she looked behind. Danny then laughed hysterically, "You should've seen your face!"

Ember smirked and said as she jumped to grab him, "Why you little…."

But Danny dodged and tackled her to the ground. The two of them began to wrestle with each other. Danny then leapt onto a tree as he shouted, "Catch me if you can slowpoke!"

"Not so fast babypop!" Ember laughed and began to chase after him.

Nocturne however was not so sure about this and cautioned his friends, "I can see this going from ha ha to boo-hoo just like that!"

Ember laughed as she chased after the vine swinging man. She then waited until finally, she punched and the two tumbled to the ground once more, wrestling right into a dead on tree root. Ember was stuck but Danny used his strength to pull her out.

She was covered with glowing red and green spiders. She grimaced at the sight of them. Nocturne however screamed, "SPIDERS!"

He grabbed Ember and began dunking her in the river as he shouted, "Don't worry Ember! I'll save you! Get off her! Get off! Get off!"

Ember coughed on the water as she was dunked and all the spiders came off her. She then shouted, "NOCTURNE CUT IT OUT!"

Nocturne stopped, now leaving a very soaked Ember McClain standing before them. She got out of the water and said to Nocturne, "Would you relax? They're just little spiders."

Danny laughed and then said, "Ember, Nocturne's just trying to help."

He was unaware that a spider had crawled on hand and bit him hard. He winced and saw the spider, he however flicked it off like it as nothing.

"Are you alright?" Nocturne asked.

Danny shrugged and said, "Yeah. It was just a spider bite."

Ember sighed with relief, "Oh that's a relief. Now…I guess I should just…."

With that, she immediately tackled Danny and the two continued to wrestle with each other. Nocturne sighed and called out to them, "Can't you two ever be careful? Or how about some normal games for once? Like chess or something?"

An hour later, Sam had almost finished her painting of a beautiful flower as she sat on the balcony of the treetop house Danny's parents had built when they had arrived here in Africa. Danny, Sam and Tucker fixed it up so it could now be liveable and it never looked better. Danny hung upside-down from a vine behind her and looked at the painting.

"I like it." Danny said, causing Sam to jump in fright, knocking down her easel. Danny quickly caught the painting and handed it back to Sam.

Sam sighed with relief as she placed the painting down and said, "I've got to get used to that entrance."

She then suddenly saw Danny's hand and noticed that it was red and a little bit swollen. She asked with concern, "What is that on your hand?"

Danny looked at it and answered, "It's nothing."

Sam however was not convinced and said, "Well I'm a pretty good judge of nothing and that is definitely not nothing."

Danny was confused and simply said, "Really? But Sam, it's only a spider-bite."

Hearing that, she immediately took Danny to see Tucker. Ember and Nocturne had come along and watched as Tucker looked at the bite mark with a magnifying glass.

Nocturne immediately began to exaggerate as he was now terrified for Danny, "Oh Tucker! The spider was huge and ugly! It had twenty legs and dripping fangs! I'm telling you! It was some kind of vampire spider! My great uncle got whacked by one of those!"

Danny then spoke, correcting Nocturne's rather crude description of the arachnid they encountered, "The spider had eight legs. It was glowing, deep red and green with a round head."

Tucker thought and immediately went to his computer. He typed in the description of the spider and waited for the results to come up. He then saw the image and showed it to Danny, "Is this what it looked like?"

Danny nodded. Tucker then began to read the description, "Hmmmm…..symptoms included from this bite are twitching, fever, blurred vision, hallucinations until finally….."

His eyes widened in shock and said with urgency, "We don't have much time."

"Before?" Nocturne asked, though he was afraid what the answer might be.

Tucker hesitated to say it and he began nervously, "Well….you know….."

"Give me a hint." Nocturne said.

"Before he umm…." Tucker began again, but couldn't find the words.

Sam then decided to say it, "Fully expires."

"I'm afraid so." Tucker said with a grim nod.

Nocturne gasped and then suddenly, collapsed right on top of Ember. She groaned and crawled out from under her ghostly friend as Danny said, "But I feel fine."

"Exactly!" Ember agreed, believing her friend would be alright. "Besides, this is Danny Phantom we're talking about. He's the toughest guy I know. A teeny little spider can't hurt a guy like him."

Sam however disagreed and said matter-of-factly, "It most certainly can. One bite from this Ecto-Spider can kill someone. Even a full ghost."

That made Nocturne gasp in shock again and once again, fall right on top of Ember. She squeezed herself out from under him again and requested in pain, "Stop…traumatising the big ghost….please?"

"Tucker, isn't there an antidote?" Sam asked her friend, who was still looking at his PDA.

Tucker then pulled up an image of a dark purple flower and showed it to them as he said, "The only antidote is the root of the Nightshade flower."

"Well, where can we find it?" Sam asked, wanting to save her husband from dying.

"It only grows in high elevations in constant moisture." Tucker described.

"Uh…yeah. Tuck, you mind putting that in plain ghost?" Ember requested, not understanding what he meant.

He clarified more easily, "At the top of a waterfall."

"Right, then I'm off to get that flower." Sam said and began to walk off.

Danny gently grabbed her hand and said, "Sam please don't. I'm telling you, I feel fine."

Sam however was not going to argue and said more determined, "Without that flower Danny you will cease to be fine….in fact you will just plain cease so, I am going."

Ember smirked and commented, "Ah let her go. There's no way she's getting up any mountain with those knobby knees anyway."

Sam glared and growled at Ember for a second. Danny then jumped in front of Sam and said, "If you're going Sam, then I'm going too."

"You are in no condition to be going anywhere." Sam protested.

Danny however narrowed his eyes, showing that he would just follow after her anyway. Sam sighed and then agreed, "Alright fine. But we better hurry."

"I'll be coming as well." Tucker said as he finished packing his backpack with his equipment. "Someone will have to prepare the antidote once we get the flower and seeing that I aced chemistry and biology back in school, it's definitely going to be me."

"You know what? I'm going to come along as well." Ember said, still smirking.

She was unaware that as she said to Nocturne, Sam was standing behind her listening in, "Three bananas says that Sam gives up before we hit the river bend."

Nocturne then finally noticed Sam standing there and quickly tried to cover up, "Oh Sam! I didn't see you lurking….I mean…we weren't….uh….."

Sam laughed a little and then said, "That's alright Nocturne. I'm just going to ignore what Ember said, take the high road and not dignify that remark with a response. Now shall we get moving?"

Sam then began to walk off, following after Danny and Tucker. Ember was about to mock the way Sam walked, but Nocturne grabbed Ember and shook his head disapprovingly.

The walk was in silence as Danny led the way, swinging by the vines above them. Ember continued to smile, thinking that everything was okay and that there was nothing to worry about.

Nocturne, however, didn't share the same feelings as Ember and was truly worried about his friend. He turned to Ember and said slightly panicking, "Come on Ember! We gotta get to that flower ASAP!"

Ember scoffed, "Why? We never had to worry about spider bites before Sam came along."

"Speak for yourself. I know I did." Nocturne said.

"Yeah, but that's just you." Ember replied. "Anyway, I still think there is nothing to worry about and that Danny will be alright."

"But what if you're wrong Ember? I mean, what if Phantom really is sick? What if he dies?" Nocturne asked her, trying to make her see sense.

Ember stopped and thought for a moment. Was Danny really sick from the bite? Should she take it more seriously?

She stopped smiling and then asked, "But….that couldn't happen….not to Phantom…..could it?"

"Sam seems to think so." Nocturne answered.

But just when he thought Ember was finally seeing sense, she frowned and began to rant, "Yeah…yeah that's what I'm talking about! She just comes in off a boat and then suddenly, she knows everything about the jungle! I mean…who does she think she is?"

Ember was clearly annoyed by Sam. She then looked up at Danny and watched him as he slid down a tree and then swung on another vine.

"Looking good Phantom!" Ember cheered on.

She looked back and saw Sam struggling to climb over a huge tree root and asked with a smirk before laughing, "How you doing back there Sammy?"

Sam groaned as she finally managed to climb up, "Just….fine…thank you very much!"

She suddenly slipped and almost fell backwards, but Danny quickly flew down and caught her and then placed her on the ground.

"Thanks." Sam said, smiling at her husband.

Danny smiled back and continued on. Ember smirked and teased, "I forget….whose helping who?"

"Technically that's 'whom' Ember." Sam corrected.

Ember scoffed, "Whatever. Fancy talk ain't gonna get us to that flower Goth princess."

That comment really annoyed her, but Sam took a deep breath and continued on, walking in front of Ember. Both of them were unaware that a scaly threat was watching them from the branches of the trees.

Nocturne used his large hand to give Tucker a lift over the next tree root, which the techno-geek smiled in appreciation for.

Sam walked past Ember and said, "Let's push on shall we?"

Ember frowned and asked sarcastically, "Don't you mean shall whom?"

"Uh….no. It's shall we." Sam once again corrected.

As she turned around, the scaly threat that was watching them revealed itself to be a large venomous python, baring its sharp fangs and letting out a hiss causing the goth to scream in fright. Just when it was about to attack, Danny jumped in from behind and pinned it down with a hard kick.

He jumped off the snake, although he stumbled a bit when he landed. The snake hissed at Danny and Danny imitated the hiss back. The snake then crawled back up the tree.

"Where'd he go?" Nocturne asked, frightened by the predator.

There was nothing but silence. Sam then suggested hopefully, "Maybe it left?"

They all then heard the sound of rustling and the snake then came out and was about to strike at Nocturne. Danny quickly changed into his ghost form and blasted the snake back with an ecto-blast. The snake then vanished back into the trees and Danny followed after it, although he wasn't as fast as he used to be which everyone seemed to notice.

"Danny is slowing down." Sam said, really worried for her husband.

"Oh yes, I know. The venom from the spider is starting to affect his motor skills." Tucker said.

Ember however didn't want to believe it still and said, "What are you talking about? My boy Danny has got everything under control."

Danny then emerged from the trees, with the snake wrapped around him. Both of them rolling around wrestling with each other until they fell right off the edge. Sam gasped and they all ran over to the edge to check on Danny.

He finally came back up, though slowly and changed back into his human form panting. Sam then asked really concerned, "Are you alright?"

Ember smiled and said patting Danny on the shoulder, "Never better, right buddy?"

"I'm fine. Just fine." Danny answered, still panting.

None of them could see it, but his arm was twitching from behind his back. As the others moved on, Danny looked at his twitching arm and was starting to realise that there was something wrong with him. During the fight with the snake he felt slightly weaker and his muscles didn't seem to be reacting properly.

Was this spider bite really doing something to him?
