Chapter 01

Hidden deep within a tomb is a large ruby incased in gold disc with some form of writing etched into it resting on a pedestal in the center of the room. An opening from the ceiling reveals a Blood Moon.

A large door on the far end of the room opens to allow a tall man with blonde hair and mustache to walk in followed by a scrawny man with a cane and a bowler hat.

"At long last," the tall man marvels at the sight before him. "The Ruby Blood Stone. The most valuable artifact in vampire history."

"Not to mention most powerful, Van Hellscream," the scrawny man holds his cane in front of Van Hellscream as a dart flew out of the wall and at the monster hunter, catching it with his cane.

"Why thank you, Farnum," he places a hand on the merchant's shoulder. "Almost undone by a rookie mistake."

"Your thanks is most appreciated," Farnum walks forward, using his cane to tap on the floor to check for more traps. "According to legends, The Ruby Blood Stone once belonged to the original Vampire Lord. Who was said to have power greater than any can imagine," his cane pressed down on a tile and a blade narrowly missed them.

"I'm aware," Hellscream acknowledges. "The stories also say that in order to broker peace between the other monster races he renounced all of his power and contained it in here and stowed away so that it may never be used again,"

Farnum's cane triggered a trapped door and the two walk around it. "They also say that his powers can be transferred to another on the night of a Blood Moon," he looks up at the opening. "Much like tonight."

Hellscream nods at him. "And as per our agreement I use the Ruby's power to put humans at the top and you can sell it's container off to the highest bidder as well as keep some monsters for your show," the two stopped in front of the pedestal and examine the area around them. "This is too easy," he hums in thought.

"You're right!" his partner agrees as he continues tapping his cane around them. "There should have been more traps or even a guardian of sorts," with eyes that are practically made to spot anything out of the ordinary, the former showman can't find anything.

Van Hellscream looks at the artifact and then down on the ground at some rocks. He picks one up around the same size of the ruby and tests it's weight. The hunter reaches for the ruby only to be stopped by Farnum's cane.

"We are not alone," he whispers and receives a nod from Hellscream.

The hunter looks back at his goal and in one swift moment, he removes the Ruby and switches it out with the rock. Nothing happened. Then, there was the sound of metal clashing. Turning around Hellscream sees Farnum using his cane to hold a sword in place.

The blade is wielded by a cloaked figure. Farnum just grins as he presses a button allowing his cane to release a small cloud of gas. The figure dropped his blade and starts choking.

Van Hellscream grabs the cloak and rips it off to reveal a pale faced man with fangs and red eyes. "A vampire," he looks to his partner. "Garlic essence I'm to assume?"

"You assume correctly, my dear friend," Farnum waves his cane around. "I never leave home unprepared," he looks back at the opening. "Whatever you're going to do you better be quick."

"Will do my friend," the hunter holds the ruby up to the Blood Moon, and just as it begins to glow, Hellscream is tackled to the ground by the vampire. The Ruby Blood Stone falls to the ground and shatters the ruby, releasing a pulse of energy.

"No!" Both men yelled.

Hellscream got up and turns to the vampire only to find nothing.

"I was so close," the hunter slams a fist on the wall. "All of this research gone to waste,"

"At least it wasn't a total loss," the merchant sighs. "I might be able to get a small fortune for this," Farnum picks up the gold disc and squints at the writing. "Come and look at this," he hands it over to his partner.

"Interesting," Van Hellscream examines text. "According to this, the Vampire Lords power can't be destroyed. If something were to happen to its vessel then it will find a new suitable host," then he sneers as he continues. "A Vampire who is kind and pure of heart," he tells Farnum. "There's no such thing as a Monster with a pure heart little alone a vampire."

.oOo.

Draculaura yawns as she sits up. The ghoul stretches as she gets the feeling that something's off. She removes her mask and blinks the sleep out of her eyes. Looking over at her alarm clock, the vegan vampire takes notice that it was turned off.

"What?" she reaches over for her phone and sees the time. "Oh, no!" Draculaura then zips around the room getting ready. "I'm late!" she grabs her things from one side of the room before zooming into her closet and then back out fully dressed. "Count Fabulous!" zips right in front of her pet bat whose eyes have widened at the ghoul's speed. "How's my makeup and hair?" As a response, the bat raised his wing in his own version of a thumbs up. "Thanks, Count Fabulous. You're the best." the ghoul quickly kissed him on the head before zooming out of the room.

"Here we go!" Draculaura starts her car only to get a series of groaning followed by a clunk. "Seriously? This is totes not my day!" she sighs. "I'll have to go by foot," the ghoul zips out of her car and zooms through the streets of New Salem. Before she knew it, the petite vampire found herself standing on the front steps of Monster high just as the warning bell sounded.

"Thank, Ghoul!" Draculaura sighs but then her eyes furrowed in confusion. There's no way she could have possibly arrived before that bell. Checking her phone, the ghoul sees that only a few minutes have passed since waking up. Draculaura turns back around and just wondered how she covered the distance in such a short time.

"Draculaura?" Clawd calls out. The Wolf is standing in the doorway.

"Clawd? I, uh, how long have you been there?"

"I just got here," the Manster approaches his ghoulfriend. "I was getting worried. You're usually here earlier than this."

"Y-yeah! I was, uh, having car trouble. H-had to run here."

"Really? You look pretty good for someone who ran all the way from the part of town you're from," Clawd smiles at the ghoul. "How'd you managed that?"

"I have my ways," Draculaura beams as she heads for the door. "Well, better get going. Don't to be…" the ghoul grabs the door nob and somehow pulls the large door off its hinges. Out of shock, the vampire drops it. "…late." She turns to her boofriend. "Clawd! I can explain."

"There's nothing to explain," the werewolf shrugs. "The building is over two-hundred years old," he knocks on the remaining door. "It's bound to have pieces fall off every now and then. I'll let Headmistress Bloodgood know so she can get the door fix," he offers the ghoul his hand. "Now, we should probably head to class."

The pink vampire wearily glances at the hand before eyeing the broken door. "Y-yeah," she hesitantly and carefully accepts her boofriend's hand. "let's go."

NOTE: This is more of an experimental story I wrote. Though it may not seem like it given at the pacing of updating my other stories, I generally have an idea where I'm going with them and pretty much planned them out from beginning to middle to end. I just have a hard time focusing on one for too long. This one not so much. It was just a random weird idea I had one day and decided to try it out. This doesn't apply to my One-Shot Collections as they tend to be more of a spur of the moment shorts that I plan out one by one.
