I don't own Disney's The Owl House. I do, however own the Main OC. Hope you all enjoy my story on this lovely show.

Chapter Nine

Today, a celestial event unfolds. In the Owl House, King is snuggled up in Danielle's arms with a blanket around them both, reading the third entry to the Henry Quilter Series. Placing a paw down when Danielle was about to turn a page, King removes it before letting Danielle flip it. Their little reading time is interrupted when Hooty slams the door open.

"Ding-dong. Ding," said Hooty, swinging the door open. "Hoot! Hoot!"

"The book has come to life!" shouted King, pointing at the book. "Burn it!"

"I will not be doing that," said Danielle, standing up and walking over to the front door and seeing a basket. "Hmmm… a little baby."

"What?" said King, walking over.

"Let's get this little one inside," said Danielle, picking up the basket and heading to the kitchen to show Eda. "Eda, we have a little something."

"Probably an offering," said Eda, seeing the basket. "Ah! Being the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles has its perks."

"It's actually a little baby," said Danielle, seeing Eda pull the blanket down.

"Mm. Fresh meat," said King, rubbing his paws together.

"King, you will not," said Danielle, glaring at King.

"Weh!" said King, scared.

"Tell me we're not going to eat a baby?" asked Danielle, staring at Eda. "I won't do it."

"Witches eating babies is so 1693," said Eda, tilting the basket. "What is this?"

"Thank goodness," said Danielle, sighing.

"There's a note," said King, grabbing the note. ""Take care of my child till morning. Yi Yi.""

"Nope. Babies are awful," said Eda, giving a thumbs down. "Not happening."

"You know, that gets me wondering how Eda handled King when he was a baby."

"Aaw!" said Danielle, imagining a baby King.

""You will be handsomely rewarded. X-O-X-O-X-O-X. Bat Queen"" said King, finishing reading the note.

"Bat Queen?" said Eda, seeing King take some snails out of the basket. "Reward?"

"Bat Queen?" said Danielle, tilting her head in confusion. "Who's that? They better than the Emperor?"

"Of course. She's the wealthiest demon on the Boiling Isles. Get in with her and you're set for life," said Eda, grabbing one of the snails. "So, we keep this thing alive for a few hours and we get paid. Pfft. Easy."

"Well, this should be interesting," said Danielle, looking at the little one. "Never really babysat before."

"Not you. You have to return the books I checked out from the library," said Eda, summoning some books into Danielle's arms before whispering to King. "I don't want her getting a cut of the loot."

"Good thinking," said King, whispering back.

"Home away from home away from home," said Danielle, walking towards the back door. "I actually happen to like the library."

"Now, let's take a look at this little darling," said Eda, pulling the blanket off and the baby to start to shriek. "Argh!"

"Oh, boy," said King, going stiff and falling backwards.

"On second thought, maybe we could…" said Eda, already seeing that Danielle was gone. "Dangit."

Once Danielle left and was a fair distance into Bonesborough, she had set off a plant glyph to help carry the books. Situating some books in the plant bag, Danielle carries the remainder in her arms. Seeing the library down the street, Danielle briskly walks towards her destination. Walking into the library, the books in Danielle's arms are levitated towards the front desk. Danielle puts the remaining books on the front desk.

"Late. Late," said a Librarian, checking the books in before looking at one in specific. "Coffee, grass and bloodstains? These are Eda's, aren't they?"

"I thought I got all the stains off," said Danielle, looking at the book. "Sorry."

"I'll put them on her tab," said the Librarian, before pointing towards a pictured frame. "By the way, we're closing early for the Wailing Star meteor shower."

"Awesome," said Danielle, looking at the pictured frame than the Librarian. "I have a question."

"You're in a library," said the Librarian, writing on the scroll. "Look up whatever it is you're looking for."

"I was going to ask if you take donations," said Danielle, looking at the Librarian.

"Oh," said the Librarian, staring at Danielle. "I highly doubt Eda would donate anything but what is it?"

"There's this old building that I went to my first week here and it has a ton of books," said Danielle, looking at the Librarian. "I was thinking maybe you would want them or if you knew any one that would want to buy them."

"Depends on the books and their condition," said the Librarian, looking at Danielle. "Sure, bring them in and we'll look at them."

"It may take more than one trip," said Danielle, looking at the Librarian. "But thank you."

Walking around the library, Danielle stares at the wonders of the Bonesborough Library. Walking on up a flight of stairs to an upper floor, Danielle sees books flying about in a fashion much like a rotating rack in a laundromat. Trying to reach for a book, Danielle sighs before utilizing a plant glyph to help grab some of the books. Heading on back downstairs, Danielle sets the books down on a table and starts to read. It wasn't long later that Danielle hears a voice she recognizes and heads towards the kid's corner. Turns out it was Amity, reading a book to a few kids.

""We're your friends and we wanna help," said the Tin Boy with a yelp. Otabin smiled and paced the floor. "I've never had real friends before"," said Amity, holding up a book so the kids could see the pictures.

"Looks like there's a sweet center to Prefect," said Danielle, before noticing a manga section. "Well, hello there. Let's see what kind of manga they have."

""Then we'll be your first," the Chicken Witch clucked. Otabin couldn't believe his luck. So, Bookmaker Otabin surrounded by friends, bound a book of friendship and that's the end," said Amity, closing the book.

"Goodbye, Miss Amity," said a Little Kid, hugging Amity's leg. "Thank you."

"Thank you, Braxas," said Amity, patting the kid's head. "See you next time."

"Yay!" said Braxas, running out of the kid's corner.

"Ugh! You," said Amity, noticing Danielle.

"Hey," said Danielle, looking at a manga before putting it back. "Not much manga variety."

"They're still relatively new to our realm," said Amity, staring at Danielle.

"So, you read to kids?" said Danielle, looking at Amity and smiling. "That's really nice."

"It's for extra credit," said Amity, picking up a book and heading to a kids table. "Don't read too much into it."

"If you want some help with the kids, I can help," said Danielle, rubbing the back of her neck. "That is, if you want…"

"Human!" said Amity, facing Danielle. "Do you see me going to the Owl Shack and bugging you while you... fry up owls? Okay, I don't really know what you do there, but every time you come near me, I get in trouble. Just leave me alone."

"I was only trying to help," said Danielle, before walking away. "Geesh, see if I ever try to help you again."

"You gonna let her get to you like that?" asked a Teen Male Witch, only to be punched in the gut by Danielle. "Oomph… ow."

"Sorry, natural reflex there," said Danielle, staring at the Teen Male Witch and what looked to be his twin sister. "Who are you?"

"Well-wishers on a mission," replied the Teen Male Witch, holding his abdomen.

"A noble quest," said the Teen Female Witch, staring at Danielle.

"Oh no," said Danielle, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Please don't tell me you found a map to a celestial lake and such. It's fake."

"Uh, no," said the Teen Female Witch, looking at Danielle.

"Watch this. Hey, Mittens," said the Teen Male Witch, holding up a pink bunny lunchbox and looking towards Amity. "Mom says stop forgetting your lunch. And stop being a jerk to your friend."

"She is not my friend," said Amity, stalking over and grabbing the lunchbox.

"More like acquaintances," said Danielle, staring at the twins.

"Yeah, makes sense," said the Teen Female Witch, putting her hands on Danielle's shoulders. "She seems too cool for you."

"And beautiful," said the Teen Male Witch, trying to kiss Danielle's hand only to have his arm bent in the other direction. "Ow ow ow-ow-ow!"

"Not interested," said Danielle, letting go of the Teen Male Witch's arm.

"You can leave now," said Amity, walking back towards the kid's corner. "All of you."

"So, you're the human we've heard so much about," said the Teen Male Witch, walking after Danielle with his twin sister.

"Guess so," said Danielle, pocketing her hands.

"I'm Emira. And this is Edric. We're Amity's older siblings," said the Teen Female Witch, looking at Danielle. "We heard how you embarrassed her at the school and at the witch covention last week. No wonder she hates you."

"I'd rather not be on bad terms with her," said Danielle, leaning against a bookshelf. "But as long as she has that attitude, I don't think we can be friends."

"Don't waste your time with Mittens. Me and Ed, we're way more fun," said Emira, grabbing Danielle's hand and gearing here to an area of the library. "Follow us."

"'Kay," said Danielle, before pulling her hand back.

Following the twins, Danielle watches as Edric wipes off the "Non" on Nonfiction on a board, before hiding. Another librarian showing patrons around the library notices the board before getting emotional and sobbing on the floor. Before walking after the twins, Danielle was able to set off a newly acquired wind glyph to put the chalk back in place to read "Non". The next area the twins took Danielle to was where the two librarians she saw since she got here, were shelfing books. Emira conjures a spell circle to magically take the book off the shelf repeatedly as the Librarian keeps putting it back without knowing it, since he was distracted by reading a book. Edric joins in with a spell circle to magically switch the two librarians around. The one Librarian gets emotional again and sobs. Danielle sets off a plant glyph when she notices the other Librarian about to fall off a ladder, making him land in a flower. Danielle sighs seeing that her flower made the Librarian sneeze which made the twins laugh. Heading toward another area, Edric grabs a dusty book and blows the dust towards the demon decimal system, making it sneeze and blow out a bunch of notecards.

"Okay, I think you two had enough fun," said Danielle, setting off the wind glyph and making the wind stack the notecards on top of the demon decimal system.

"Hey!" said Amity, spotting Danielle and the twins with a Librarian next to her.

"Wait," said the Librarian, looking around. "Where's Gary?"

"Coming," said the Other Librarian, running over before sobbing. "Nooo!"

"Whoa!" said Danielle and the twins, pushed out of the library.

"You've made reading far too fun. Now, stay out," said the Librarian, slamming the doors shut.

"Wait…" said Danielle, holding her hand out before sighing and looking hurt. "Great, Amity's even more mad. And I got booted from the library."

"No, when Mittens gets mad, she looks like this," said Edric, inhaling sharply as his face goes red before exhaling. "Whoa, I almost passed out."

"Easy there," said Danielle, putting a hand on Edric's shoulder.

"You're pretty fun, human," said Emira, before looking at Edric. "So, hey, we're coming back tonight. There's a certain book we forgot to... check out."

"And bonus, rumor has it the Wailing Star's supposed to unlock some rare magical event," said Edric, staring at Danielle. "You in, friend?"

"I'd have to check in with Eda first and see if it's okay," said Danielle, looking at the twins. "If you see me here, then she gave me the go ahead."

"Okay…? Meet back here at midnight," said Edric, walking down the steps. "See you, Danielle."

Heading back to the Owl House, Danielle doesn't know that Amity was hiding in a corner, overhearing their conversation. The moment she got back, Danielle sees Eda rocking the baby. Sitting down next to Eda, Danielle lightly scratches the baby's cheek.

"Kinda cute when calm," said Danielle, before the baby spat out another of its kind and the other as well, leaving three little ones flying in front of her. "Whoa! Um…any way, I've been invited to hang out at the library? Can I?"

"I could use your help with the baby… babies," said Eda, looking at Danielle.

"I know nothing about caring for babies," said Danielle, looking at Eda. "I'm the youngest one in my family. I could get a book about it at the library."

"Okay," said Eda, dodging one of the babies flying about. "Go, mingle. Then straight back here."

"Uh, they want to meet up at midnight," said Danielle, dodging some green goop a baby spat her way. "I could get the book, come back and drop it off before heading back."

"Sound plan," said Eda, pointing at the door. "Go! Go!"

"On it!" said Danielle, running out the front door and closing it.

Heading back towards the library, Danielle asks a librarian for books about caring for babies. Gearing Danielle to the books, Danielle searches before settling on a few that could possibly help. Signing the books out, Danielle heads back to the Owl House and shows Eda the books. Eda gestures Danielle to help her turn over the couch to act as a barricade. Leafing through the books alongside Eda, Danielle spots a certain page detailing story time and snacks. Ruffling Danielle's hair, Eda gestures Danielle towards the door before mouthing "Thank you". Heading back towards the library again, Danielle waits outside till night falls. Sighing after waiting so long, Danielle wonders where the twins are.

"I can't believe it. They flaked on me," said Danielle, leaning against a wall before heading towards the stairs. "I knew it was too good to be true."

"Whoa, hey there," said Emira, gaining Danielle's attention after leaving her hiding spot. "We didn't flake on you. Just observed you is all."

"Thought you would have done something silly," said Edric, looking at Danielle. "Like trying to act cool."

"Why would I do that?" asked Danielle, staring at the twins.

"You ready to bring this inside?" asked Edric, pointing towards the door.

"Yeah, sure," said Danielle, before thinking. "I hope Eda is doing okay with the babies."

"It says no trespassing but I'm allergic to the rules," said Edric, handing a piece of paper to Emira.

"And dairy," said Emira, grabbing the piece of paper.

"Wow, okay," said Edric, looking at Emira. "Just expose me."

"Nothing to be ashamed about. I have a cousin who can't have dairy either," said Danielle, seeing Emira place the paper on the door before it crumbles and the keyhole to expand letting them in. "That's one way of getting in."

"Come on," said Edric, gesturing Danielle to follow them in.

"Did not expect a library to be so creepy at night," said Danielle, before looking at the stained-glass window above the front doors. "So beautiful."

"There. The Wailing Star!" said Edric, pointing at the stained-glass window.

The Wailing Star passes by crying. Danielle gasps as her eyes completely become a glowing light purplish pink for a few seconds as well as her hair going completely silvery white before going back to normal. The twins hear Danielle fall to the ground and run over to her.

"Oh my gosh," said Emira, casting some healing magic on Danielle. "Are you okay?"

"I think so…" replied Danielle, holding her head. "I don't know what happened there."

"Looks like the Wailing Star has an adverse effect on humans," said Edric, helping Danielle up.

"Think I could sit down for a bit?" asked Danielle, holding the twins hands.

"Yeah, sure," said Emira, gearing Danielle towards a nearby bench.

"I feel like…" said Danielle, leaning against Edric with her eyes closed. "I'm burning up."

"Hot beautiful human… leaning on me," thought Edric, blushing before trying nonchalantly to put his arm around Danielle.

"I wouldn't even try," said Danielle, feeling Edric pull his arm back while Emira giggled before opening her eyes and seeing the books glowing. "Why are the books all glowy?"

"Wow!" said Emira, grabbing a book and a bunch of birds coming out of it.

"Wow!" said Edric, staring at all the birds. "The Wailing Star magicked the books to life."

"If that's the case," said Danielle, standing up. "Let's stay away from any hardcore books depicting porn and such."

"Agreed," said the twins, before running towards the bookshelves.

Coming upon a magazine stand, Edric opens up Regal Couture, which dresses up him and Emira in fancy clothes. Danielle opens a different magazine which results in her looking like a bard. Next Danielle and the twins check out the graphic novels. Turns out thought bubbles appeared whenever they spoke. Seeing the twins playing around with books which magicked snowballs to life, Danielle heads to the kid's corner and opened the book Amity was reading to the kids earlier.

""Otabin spend his days alone amongst the many books he'd sewn. With needle and thread..."," said Danielle, reading the book. ""...the pages he'd mend. But all the while he longed for a friend." I'd say… I love to have friends myself. I guess Willow and Gus are kinda my friends."

"Danielle, check this out," said Edric, walking into the kid's corner.

"Look what we discovered," said Emira, opening up a kids book with a little yellow duck swimming out of the pages.

"I don't get it," said Danielle, looking at the twins. "What you'd discovered?"

"Watch this," said Emira, drawing in the book giving the little yellow duck buff legs. "Now he's extra cute."

"That's going to stick in my head for a while," said Danielle, rubbing her forehead.

"Your turn, Danielle," said Emira, holding the pencil out towards Danielle.

"Don't let them!"

"Sorry," said Danielle, backing away from the twins. "I'd rather not desecrate a book."

"Come on. Don't stop the fun," said Edric, grabbing the pencil then the book. "Let me help."

"Hey, give that back," said Danielle, grabbing the book back too late as Edric drew in it.

"Erase it! Erase it! Quickly!"

"Whatever. We didn't come here just to doodle," said Emira, grabbing Danielle's hand and gearing her out of the kid's corner. "Come on."

"Wait! I need to erase that," said Danielle, being dragged to a certain area of the library. "Seriously! That needed to be erased."

"Don't worry," said Emira, pulling a specific book before hearing a click.

"Huh… wait!" said Danielle, being grabbed by the twins. "Let go!"

"Whoa, calm down," said Edric, putting his hands up.

"Calm down! Calm down! Just because I'm not going through with what you're doing right now, doesn't mean you have to throw me in a room and lock me in it till morning," said Danielle, staring angrily at the twins.

"We're not throwing you in here for that," said Emira, staring at Danielle. "This is Amity's secret hideaway."

"What?" said Danielle, worried.

"Mittens has gotten too... full of herself," said Edric, placing his hand on Danielle's shoulder. "She keeps tattling on us when we cut class."

"She needs to learn not to mess with people like that," said Emira, placing her hand on Danielle's other shoulder. "So, we're going to find her diary."

"And then post the pages all around school for everyone to see," said Edric, laughing with Emira. "Thought you would want to put her in her place as well."

"What? I'm not going to help you with that," said Danielle, pulling away from the twins. "Diaries are meant to be sacred, where you can write down your inner thoughts and not be judged. You're invading into Amity's personal space here."

"No. See, we're her family. It's tough love," said Emira, looking at Danielle. "She needs to learn to lighten up."

"Well, I don't see no diary," said Danielle, turning away from the twins before groaning when seeing a certain book series. "Oh no."

"What is it?" asked Edric, walking over with Emira. "Did you find it?"

"No," replied Danielle, pinching the bridge of her nose. "She's an Azura fan. How'd she even get these books?"

"Wait a minute…" said Emira, grabbing a specific book and opening it.

"Ah no!" said Danielle, covering her ears and walking away. "I am not a Azura fan. Close it."

"I saw that... human girl again," said the Diary, revealing it to be Amity's diary.

"Oh no," said Danielle, going pale. "The diary."

"I may have overreacted. I don't wanna come off as cruel. I just can't show weakness," said the Diary, another entry being read. "It's not fair. I'm the only one who knows Ed and Em aren't perfect. Why do they keep getting away with things?"

"This is it," said the twins, looking at the diary.

"That's enough," said Danielle, grabbing the diary only for Edric to not let go. "Put it back!"

"You see how she treats people," said Edric, not letting go of the diary. "How she treats you."

"Amity doesn't deserve this," said Danielle, staring at the twins. "No one does. So put it back."

"She needs this," said Edric, trying to pull the diary back.

"No, she doesn't," said Danielle, not letting go of the diary.

"It's for her own good," said Emira, only for pages to start falling out of the diary.

"Oh, my goodness," said Danielle, bending down and grabbing the papers. "Look what you've done."

"Really?" said Amity, rounding the corner and looking furious.

"Amity," said Danielle, standing up. "Look, I can explain."

"You two are the worst," said Amity, seeing the twins giggling before grabbing her diary out of Danielle's arms. "But you... I've been trying to figure out what your deal is. Are, are you a poser? A nerd? I know. You're a bully, Danielle."

"Amity," said Danielle, looking hurt while Amity runs away.

"Go after Amity. Or Otabin will bind her to a book."

"What?" said Danielle, realization dawning on her. "Oh no… Amity."

"Mittens killed the fun," said Emira, walking out of the secret room.

"Again. Oh, well. We're headed out to go goblin‐tipping," said Edric, about to walk away. "Wanna come?"

"No," replied Danielle, setting off a plant glyph and tangling the twins up.

"Hey!" said the twins, being pulled back into the secret room. "What are you doing?"

"About to save Amity and keeping you two safe," said Danielle, glaring at the twins, her eyes glowing a light purplish pink. "You two will reflect on your actions. Don't worry, I'll come back for you."

"That was scary. Didn't think human eyes could do that," said Edric, struggling in his binds after the door shut closed. "Hey, can you cast…"

"Does it look like I can cast a spell circle," said Emira, before hearing thudding footsteps outside the secret room. "Huh…?"

"Friends…" said Demon Otabin, walking past the secret room.

"Was that…" said Edric, in a low voice to Emira, scared.

"Otabin…" said Emira, utilizing her illusion magic in her eyes and seeing past the bookshelf. "And he doesn't look friendly."

"Amity!" said the twins, realization dawning on them.

Checking down each area that she passed, Danielle looks for Amity. Not far away, Demon Otabin searches. Finally finding Amity, Danielle runs towards her.

"Amity," said Danielle, running towards Amity.

"First you embarrass me. Then you wanna be my friend?" said Amity, turning to face Danielle. "I don't get you. Pick a side."

"Listen to me," said Danielle, grabbing Amity's arm. "We need to…"

"Just go away before things somehow get worse," said Amity, before hearing loud footsteps. "Huh…"

"Crude," said Danielle, seeing Demon Otabin before them. "This is why I wanted you to listen."

"Otabin?" said Amity, staring at Demon Otabin, shocked.

"With claws and fangs and breaking bones, I found a friend to make my own," said Demon Otabin, grabbing Amity.

"Danielle!" shouted Amity, gripping Danielle's hand.

"Let her go, ya big balooka," said Danielle, her eyes turning to a glowy light purplish pink before kicking out Otabin's leg, leaving a starry streak in her wake and catching Amity on her back before running.

"What are you doing?" asked Amity, staring at Danielle.

"Running away so we can strategize how to take Otabin down," replied Danielle, running down a different hall.

"Call Malphas! Call Malphas! I bet he can handle Otabin."

"Who the heck is Malphas?" asked Danielle, voicing it out loud.

"Who are you talking to?" asked Amity, staring at Danielle. "And how do you know about Malphas?"

"It's hard to explain right now," replied Danielle, lowering Amity down before peering around the corner. "I think we lost Otabin for a bit."

"Start explaining," said Amity, glaring at Danielle.

"Look there's a tiny voice in the back of my head that has been helping me out from time to time," said Danielle, looking at Amity. "It has never been wrong in guiding me."

"Are you some oracle or something from the Human Realm?" asked Amity, looking at Danielle.

"Pfft, no," replied Danielle, looking at Amity. "But we need to somehow close that book or erase Edric's drawing all together. Any thoughts?"

"Friends," said Otabin, jumping in front of the girls.

"Aaaah!" shouted Danielle, before magicking a spear of light in her hands and throwing it into Demon Otabin's abdomen before looking at her hands. "H-How'd I do that?"

"Does it matter?" said Amity, conjuring an Abomination to hold Demon Otabin down. "Get the book! Get the book!"

"On it!" said Danielle, setting off a light glyph and holding her light katana, before walking over to Demon Otabin and slashing the book off its chest, elating a roar from Demon Otabin. "Got it!"

Demon Otabin roars and bursts free from the Abomination. Demon Otabin slams Danielle far away into a bookshelf, rendering her unconscious. Jumping past Amity, Demon Otabin grabs Danielle and runs down a different hall. Following after Demon Otabin, Amity peeks into the kid's corner, seeing Danielle about to be bound to a book. Thinking fast, Amity conjures a few abominations to fight Demon Otabin. Seeing an opening, Amity runs over and frees Danielle.

"Wake up, wake up," said Amity, lightly slapping Danielle's cheek. "Come on, wake up."

"Hmm… huh…" said Danielle, regaining consciousness only to see Demon Otabin hover over her and Amity.

"Aah!" screamed Amity, before an illusion covered the kid's corner hiding her and Danielle. "Huh?"

"Amity!" shouted the twins, running over and checking on Amity.

"How'd you two…" said Danielle, seeing the twins before her.

"Does it matter?" asked Edric, staring at Danielle. "We reflected, now let's take this big guy down!"

"Already done," said Emira, holding the normal Otabin from the book. "I erased the drawing when we finished checking on Amity."

"Oh," said Edric, before staring at Amity. "Look Amity, we're sorry. We were getting tired of you always ratting us out and acting so arrogant."

"So, can we start over?" asked Emira, walking forward.

"Okay," said Amity, before the twins hugged her.

"Okay, I think it's best we all go home and rest after this escapade," said Danielle, rubbing her head.

"Agreed," said Amity and the twins, walking out of the kid's corner and towards the front doors.

"It's morning," said Danielle, before groaning. "Great, I pulled an all-nighter. Not good."

"Here, this can help," said Emira, doing a healing spell on Danielle's head.

"Thanks," said Danielle, before grabbing a book from her messenger bag and handing it to Amity. "It may not be like the Azura books but it still is a good read. Wanna borrow?"

"Uh, sure," replied Amity, handling the book. "Thanks. Maybe you aren't a bully. I haven't exactly been the friendliest witch either. I'll think on that."

Parting ways, Danielle heads back to the Owl House. Opening the front door, Danielle sees Eda and King sleeping with the babies. Danielle smiles at the sight.

"Ding-dong!" said Hooty, banging the front door open.

"Hooty! Shh…" said Danielle, before someone huge enters the house. "Whoa… are you…"

"Yi Yi. Mama is I. And I is the Bat Queen," said the Bat Queen, whistling before her babies snuggle into her hair. "Aah! Snuggle dumplings."

"Nice to meet you Queen Yi Yi," said Danielle, slightly bowing to the Bat Queen.

"Yi Yi not name but word I say," said Bat Queen, looking at Danielle. "But I like, you may use it if you like."

"Oh, okay," said Danielle, blushing slightly while twirling a lock of hair.

"For troubles," said Bat Queen, regurgitating a chest and skull whistle. "Eda is owed one."

"Bye, take care," said Danielle, waving bye to the Bat Queen as she left before hearing Eda wake up.

"Ah. Sweet babies," said Eda, waking up and not seeing the babies in her arms. "Babies? Where are the babies?"

"The Bat Queen picked up her babies," replied Danielle, sitting next to Eda.

"Oh. And I just taught Junior how to pick locks too," said Eda, sadly.

"Seems like those books came in handy," said Danielle, before pointing at the chest and whistle. "And got paid. Though I clean the whistle before using it."

"Yeah. We did it all for the money," said Eda, sadly.

"I miss my babies," said King, hugging Eda.

"Cheer up," said Danielle, looking at Eda and King. "It's not like you won't see them again."

"Thanks, kid," said Eda, chuckling. "So, how was your night?"

"Crazy," replied Danielle, before yawning. "And tiring."

"Hey, you wanna hear about my night?" asked Hooty, squeaking the door open.

"No!" replied Eda, glaring at Hooty.

"That's not a thing anyone ever wants," said King, glaring as well.

"Nighty-night," said Danielle, falling asleep on Eda's lap.

Owl Pellet #5

(A couple days later)

"These are some of the books I mentioned," said Danielle, holding some books while some were carried by moving vines.

"Hmmm… some of these books were confiscated by the Emperor years ago," said the Librarian, staring at the books. "And how many more are there?"

"Shelves full of them," replied Danielle, placing the books in her arms down. "If no one will take them, is it possible to keep them?"

"Once I go through all of them," said the Librarian, looking at Danielle. "Then yes, you may keep them."

"Thank you, sir," said Danielle, looking at the Librarian.

Owl Pellet #6

"This Half Human child is learning my glyphs fast," said the Being, watching Danielle from a cube. "I'm having a hard time keeping up."
