Chapter One.

At the Collinsport train station, in nineteen sixty seven, Josette Evans walked out and off of the train with her two suit cases in both of her hands and she stood on the platform as she looked around her surroundings. Her mother died from child birth, giving birth to her. Tom had to raise her alone and he still loves her. Josette's father, Tom Evans, who was Sam's older brother by three years a part. Tom told his only daughter about his brother and his daughter, Maggie Evans living in Collinsport. Josette would really love to meet her Uncle and cousin.

She knew that her father had told her when she was old enough to know about her family in Connecticut and Maine. Josette was more intrigued to learn more about her family. But there was some one or some thing that she felt pulling her when she moved to Collinsport. Tom Evans was in the army during World War Two. During the war, Tom was under cover by the orders from his General and higher rank soldiers when he was disguised as a German officer behind enemy lines in both France and Germany.

In nineteen forty four, Tom met a young woman named, Josephine Dubois in Paris, France. She thought at first that he was a German Officer, but then she found out that Tom was an American Army man under cover. She helped him go in to hiding from German soldiers. He and Josephine got together ever since he met her for eleven months and he got her pregnant with their only daughter, Josette.

Right after the war was over in the Spring of nineteen forty five, Josephine gave birth to their daughter, Josette Evans. Tom and Josette lived in Paris after Josephine died from child birth all up until Josette was eleven years old when they moved to Connecticut in nineteen fifty six. Tom had to raise his daughter alone. He still supported her with her school and helped her learning things.

Now in Collinsport, Maine some where around the after noon on a sunny blue sky day, Josette walked a short distance from the train station to the Blue Whale bar. She walked in and she found a table to sit down at. She took the train from New London, Connecticut in the early morning to Collinsport. Josette was a shy, innocent, quiet, caring, loving and a humble lady. She waved Bob the bartender over and she ordered some Irish whiskey and Bob walked over behind the counter and he poured her drink to help calm her nerves.

The bartender gave Josette her whiskey and she drank it slowly down, taking her time. She called Sam and Maggie from New London and asked them if she could meet them at the bar. Sam was more than glad to come and meet her. Tom had told Sam and Maggie over the phone about Josette and what had happened to Josephine. They send their condolences. This was Josette's chance to meet her uncle and cousin for the first time. Maggie and Sam were very happy that they were meeting her when she comes over.

They also offer for Josette to stay with them as long as she likes. And she was very happy about it. While Josette was waiting at the table, three people walked in. Josette was sitting at the table towards the wall by the pay phone. Josette saw the three people sitting at another table, waiting for some one. It was Victoria Winters, Maggie and Sam Evans sitting down and talking.

Josette knew that they were waiting for her, but they didn't know where she was or don't know what she looked like, so they waited for her. The minute Sam looked around for her and he said her name 'Josette,' Josette looked at them and she stood up from the table with her drink in her hand. She walked over cautiously. "Um, excuse me, sir. I was wondering if I could join you three. If that's okay with you?" She asked softly and shyly to Sam.

Vicky and Maggie were looking at her, wondering who she was. Josette remained standing. Sam stood up from the table. "Yeah, sure you can come and join us." He said to her with a soft smile before he offered her the chair to sit down.

Sam asked her what her name was and he had a gut feeling that this was the woman they have been waiting to meet. Josette looked in between Winters, Sam and Maggie. "Oh, my name is Josette Evans." Sam's and Maggie's eyes widened with happy surprise. Victoria smiled from ear to ear. Winters some how knew that there was a connection in between Josette, Maggie and Sam.

"It's very nice seeing you here, Josette." Sam said when he wrapped his arms around her in a hug. Maggie was very happy to meet her. She also hugged her in greeting and she was also very happy to see her. They introduced her to Vicky Winters. Josette and Victoria shook hands. "Your dad told me over the phone late last night that you will be staying at our place as long as you like." He added with the nod of his head. Sam and Maggie would love Josette to stay with them.

Josette gave them a shy smile. And then, she had a thought. She looked at her cousin. "Maggie, I was wondering if there are any jobs around here?" She asked her.

Maggie smiled up at her and nodded her head. "Well, Josette, I can go ask Mr. Wells and see if there are any over at the Collinsport Inn." She said as she placed her hand fisted under her chin in thought for a moment. "Hmm. I think that there is one for house cleaning over there." She added. Vicky even told her that it would be a wonderful idea for her to get that job as a house cleaner.

After they talked and drinking, Winters went to go back to Collinwood. Sam and Maggie helped Josette with her two suit cases. Sam told Bob to put the drinks on his tab. Maggie, Josette and Sam walked out of the Blue Whale and they walked over to the Evans' Cottage. As they walked over, some one was hiding behind one of the buildings and he could smell the perfume of Jasmine. And It was coming from the person, who just moved to town.

This person could recognized this perfume any where as she was walking by with the other two people. He wanted to know who this woman is. He now felt very drawn to her. He could sense her love, innocents, shyness, caring and very a polite woman. This person, who prowls around the night is none other than Barnabas Collins.
