A year after Ryder's death.
It was early in the morning; Chase was just waking up. After a few minutes, he got up and looked to his right, where there was a large photo of him and Marshall, with Ryder standing between them. Every morning, he would see it and just stare at it, remembering the good times they had shared together.
5 year's before
Two pups were standing outside a small store, Both holding balaclavas in their paws. The shepherd had a small pistol hidden under his jacket.
"You two ready?" Ryder asked them over their tags.
"I know i am." Chase replied.
"Marshall? Are you ready?" Ryder asked the dalmatian.
"Maybe, We won't have to hurt anyone right Ryder?" Marshall asked his owner.
"Don't worry Marshall, if everything goes well you'll be in and out, you won't have to harm a single soul." Ryder said to him.
"Alright, I'm ready." Marshall said.
"Okay, Masks on and go inside." Ryder said before going silent.
The two pups threw on the balaclavas they had and ran into the store, this store had cameras but unsurprisingly they didn't have the best security. Chase ran to the front desk and pulled out his pistol, raising it in the air with one paw and shoving a bag towards the cashier with the other. "Throw the cash in the bag!" Chase yelled at the casher, speaking with a heavy german accent to make it harder to recognize his voice. The cashier looked at him in surprise for a few seconds before grabbing the bag and emptying the register.
Marshall did his part of the job and looked around the store to make sure no one was inside. He searched everywhere and concluded that the cashier was the only staff in the building. "Man, management really hates their employees." Marshall said to himself. He returned back to the front and saw Chase grab a bag from the cashier; he then gestured towards the door, signalling that it was time to go. They both ran outside and went towards a nearby alleyway. Chase called Ryder on his puptag as they entered the alleyway.
"We did it Ryder." Chase told his leader.
"Good job you two. Return to the apartment and we'll split the cash between us, Make sure the cops aren't following you." Ryder said to him.
"Alright Ryder sir!" Chase said before hanging up.
After about 10 minutes of walking the pups made it back to the apartment and all 3 had a short celebration.
"This is much easier then i thought it would be." Marshall said to the others.
"To be fair, that was just a small store." Chase pointed out.
"You have a point." Marshall replied.
"I have a special treat for you two." Ryder said to the two pups. Both of them looked at him and raised their ears; Ryder pulled out two treats from a small bag and tossed them to the pups. They both jumped up in the air and caught the treats mid-air. Ryder looked at them and smiled before congratulating them and returning to his room.
Present day
Skye's alarm started beeping, she got up and turned it off then turned around to see Chase staring at the photo on the wall.
"You ok chasey?" Skye asked him, using the nickname she had given him shortly after they started dating.
Chase snapped back to reality and looked back at her. "Yeah, just thinking." Chase responded.
"About the past?" Skye asked.
"...yeah" Chase replied after a few seconds of silence. Skye sighed and got up from the bed before walking over to Chase and sitting next to him.
"Chase, I know you miss him, I do too. And I'm sorry to say this, but we have to move on. We have a new life now; we're different pups than we were back then." Skye said to him. Chase looked down at the ground for a few seconds before finally speaking.
"Yeah, you're right." Chase said, Skye could tell he was upset; she gave him a hug in response. Shortly after, they both left the room.
