Chapter 1
The old man that arrived at Harry's office told the Dresden family only one thing. Things were about to get unreal. He wasn't alone. A woman with black hair in a neat bun, but with a stern expression on her face, was with him.
"So what can I do for you?" Harry asked.
"I need your help," he said. "My name is Albus Dumbledore and this is my friend, Minerva McGonagall. I'm the Headmaster of one of the most prestigious magical schools in Scotland. I understand that you have a daughter."
"I have several, and a son on the way," Harry told him.
The Dresden's hadn't wasted time in filling up the place with children.
"The High Council has informed me that your oldest daughter, Alice, is due to come into her powers soon. I need her to help protect a young wizard name Harry Potter. He's the savior of our world and I fear that Lord Voldemort will try and come back to power. We plan on protecting a stone that Voldemort most likely wants."
"Why not destroy it."
"It's not mine to destroy," he told Harry. "And I doubt my friendship with Flamel would survive such a destruction."
"I doubt that Alice will be of any help," Harry told him. "Until she comes into her powers, and is trained, then she's of no use to anyone."
"I have ways of making it look as though she has magic," Dumbledore said. "Until her powers awaken. This is very important, Mr. Dresden, more than you can even begin to imagine."
"How about having my wife do it."
Connie Dresden, through some strange twist of fate, had been surrounded by the mantel of the Winter Queen when Mab had been killed by Morgan. He had been killed for his actions. A blow to the High Council, but one that even Agent Mai couldn't argue with.
"I'm not looking forward to bringing in any of the courts," Dumbledore said. "And I know that your beloved wife could take care of my problem. But I don't want Voldemort to know that we have any connection with the courts, before we have no choice."
"I will have to talk it over with my wife," Harry said. "I'll let you know if she agrees."
"Just in-case," Dumbledore said, handing an envelope to him. "I look forward to hearing of your decision."
And both of them left.
"The Winter Queen won't be happy if you don't tell her."
"And I'm not interested in seeing what my wife is like when she's not happy."
Connie Dresden, the present Winter Queen, had changed a lot since she had taken up the mantel. She wasn't anything like Mab, but she had a coldness that told anyone that she was the top cat in the room. She was cunning, sly, and could make you do anything that she wanted. Since she had taken up the mantel, she had left the mortal world behind. The only other thing that made her different from Mab was the fact that she was seven months' pregnant.
Alice, the girl that Dumbledore asked to help protect Harry Potter, was busy reading a book. The mantel of the Winter Lady glowed with a coldness that made Harry want to ask a lot of questions. Still, this was Winter business and he was only connected to the court due to being married to the Queen.
"Harry," Connie said, her cat-like eyes looking at me.
So much like Mab's eyes.
"The Headmaster of a school in Scotland came by," Harry told her. "He needs Alice to go and protect a child name Harry Potter."
"Why is Harry such a popular name for wizards?" Connie asked.
"Must be something in the water," Harry stated. "I told him that I would tell you about it."
She looked down at Alice, who said, "I'll go."
"Are you sure that's a good idea," Harry said. "You haven't come-."
"I'm the Winter Lady, father, I can make people think that I'm doing spells."
"I'm fine with it," Connie said.
Looks like his daughter was going to a magical school. He just hoped that the school could handle his daughter.

Lucy Margret Dresden was excited to get to be around others that could do magic. Not that being the Winter Lady meant that she was powerless. It just meant that whatever she could do was limited to when the Winter Court had the table. Her father told her that Dumbledore would give her something that would make people think that she had magic. Her father also assured her that, by the year's end, she might finally awaken her powers.
That meant she would be trained by her father, along with whatever lessons that this school was going to teach her. Her sisters, of course, were jealous that she was getting to go to a magic school.
"She has to go and protect a child," her mother told them.
"But she'll get to fly on a broom or make potions," Martha moaned.
"Sis, I'm not going to have hardly any fun," Lucy told her. "So, don't worry."
None of her sisters believed her.
Three weeks later she was on the Hogwarts Express to head to her school. Her father wished her well, gave her a kiss, and then she boarded the train. Inside of her trunk was all the books and things that she needed. Including a wand that was charmed to replicate wizard magic. This wand was given to her by the Headmaster himself. The only compartment that looked empty was at the back of the train. It had a boy in it and she asked, "Can I come in."
"Sure," he said and she put her things in a corner and sat down.
"Thanks," Lucy said. "I didn't know if I was going to find a seat. I'm Lucy Dresden."
She extended her hand and he shook, saying, "I'm Harry Potter."
"Nice to meet you," she said. "So is this your first time going?"
"Yeah," he said. "I was shocked that I was going."
"Why's that?" Lucy asked him.
"Well, I thought that all the odd things I was doing was just happening to annoy me Uncle. He doesn't like magic much."
"My family is different," Lucy said. "My mom use to be a Lt with the Police in the States and my father is the only wizard in the phone book."
He stared at Lucy and said, "He just tells everyone that he's a wizard."
"Of course," she said. "How else would he be able to help others."
"Strange," he said. "Hagrid told me that muggles aren't supposed to know about magic because they'll want magic solutions to all their problems."
Lucy didn't agree with that. Most mortals found magic to cause more problems than it solved. However, she wasn't about to say that to him.
"You sound American," he said.
"And you sound British," Lucy countered and they both laughed.
A red headed boy came by and asked, in a rude way, if he could sit there. Lucy had no intention of letting that happen, but Harry was nice and allowed him to stay. Lucy wondered if all the really nice people, that had bad luck, was going to be named Harry. During the trip she met Neville Longbottom, a round faced boy that was looking for his toad, and Hermione Granger who had practiced some of the spells that they would be learning.
"I didn't think Hogwarts had exchange students," Hermione said.
"Dumbledore decided to allow me to go instead of Ilvermorny" Lucy told her. "And I'm really looking forward to seeing how lessons are taught at school."
"So what are American magical schools like?"
"Well I don't really know," Lucy said. "However, a lot of wizards are taught by tutors. They are taught to harness raw power by will to make things happen."
"That's not how magic works," she said. "Don't they use a wand?"
"They use a blasting rod, but not a wand. My father is a wizard and my mother isn't. He uses a blasting rod and a staff to control the force of his will."
"Girls can't be wizards."
Lucy crossed her arms and said, "If a woman can do high magic that causes destruction then she's a wizard."
"Okay, prove it," she challenged.
"This isn't going to be good," Neville said.
"Fine," Lucy said and she held out her hand and the mantel caused the room to drop in temperature. As it did a ball of ice appeared in her hand and floated a couple of inches from the palm of her hand."
"Wicked," Ron said.
"I'm the Winter Lady," Lucy told them. "I have access to the full power of Winter."
Hermione didn't look happy.

A/N: I just love this concept. Also, while Lucy doesn't have her powers active as a wizard, her powers as Winter Lady is active.
