Chapter Two.
The next day, Sam was up and out of bed early in the morning. He had coffee and breakfast of bacon, eggs and pancakes for Maggie, Josette and himself. Sam could put some whiskey in to his coffee sneakily. He had been drinking ever since Maggie's mother died. It was so tough for him to go through with that. Sam woke Maggie and Josette up to get their breakfast. And after they ate and drank their coffee, Maggie and Josette walked out of the Evan's Cottage and she helped her cousin to go find a job. Maggie had to go to work that day.
In town, Josette and Maggie walked in to Collinsport Inn and she saw Mr. Wells. The hotel owner saw her and her cousin with a smile. "Oh, Hello there, Maggie." He said in greeting and then, he turned to her cousin. "And who is this lovely woman with you, Maggie?" He asked her. Mr. Wells wanted to know of who she was.
Maggie chuckled a long with a soft laugh. "Oh, Mr. Wells." She said when she gestured her hand towards Josette. "This is my cousin, Josette Evans." She said as she intoduced her to the hotel owner. Mr. Wells was very pleased to meet her. "And she was wondering if there is a job for her here for the house cleaning position." She said in hoping that her cousin to get that job.
Mr. Wells knew that he needed help around the Inn. "Well, Maggie, I do need help around here and I'm looking for a house cleaner." He said as he looked at her cousin. "Well, Miss Evans, perhaps I can get you started today on your new job." He said to her and Josette's eyes lit up with a joyful smile and she walked with the hotel owner to start work. Maggie watched on as she grinned from ear to ear before she walked in to the hotel restaurant and went to work.
Later on that day, in the evening, up over at Collinwood, there was Victoria, Roger, Carolyn, David, Elizabeth and most importantly, Barnabas. The vampire told his family of the idea of the costume party of the eighteenth century theme. Vicky eyes lit up with a cheerful smile and she turned to Liz. "Mrs. Stoddard, that's a great idea to have the costume party." She said.
Barnabas grinned at this. His thoughts were very deeply about this one woman, who was with Maggie and Sam. He would love to meet her. Elizabeth was hesitant at first and then, she agreed to have the party at Collinwood. Barnabas said his good nights before he goes back to the Old House. Winters goes up the stairs to go get ready for bed for the night. And when she gets up early in the morning, she would go to the Evan's Cottage or to the Collinsport Inn to invite Maggie, Sam and Josette to come to the party the next night.
The next morning, Victoria Winters woke up. She climbed out of bed and she got dressed. After she was done, Vicky walked down the stairs and she saw Liz in the drawing room. David was not even awake yet and he was not a morning person at all. Winters knew this and she quietly laughed about that David did not want to wake up at this time of morning, but he knew that he had to at some point.
She stood right next to Liz, who was sitting down, checking the prices of sea food that comes through the Collins Cannery before they ship them out to grocery stores. Elizabeth looked up at her and she gave her a soft smile. She asked her what she needed. "I was wondering if I can go ask Mr. Evans, Maggie, and her cousin to come to the costume party here tonight. If it's all right with you, Mrs. Stoddard?" She asked her in hoping that they would come. Vicky was looking forward to do the costume party. This was indeed Barnabas' idea.
After she ate her breakfast and drinking her coffee, she had to go in to town and visit the Collinsport Inn to see Maggie and Josette. Winters some how knew that Maggie's cousin was getting the job as a house cleaner at the Inn. Vicky was happy about this. When she got to the Inn, Victoria walked in to the hotel restaurant and she saw her friend. "Hi there, Vicky. What can I do for you?" Maggie asked as she greeted her friend.
Winters gave her a soft laugh. "Hello, Maggie." She said in greeting. She sighed. "I was wondering if you, Mr. Evans and Josette would come to the costume party at Collinwood tonight? I will be fun." She said in hoping that her friend and her cousin would come.
Just then, Maggie and Vicky saw Josette walked down the stairs and Maggie was the first to speak. "Hello, Josette." She said. Josette gave her a shy smile. She asked her cousin what she needed. "Vicky here." She said when she gestured Winters with her hand. "Is wondering if we can come over to a costume party tonight at the house up on the hill." Victoria laughed softly over from the way Maggie referred Collinwood as the house up on the hill.
Josette looked Winters in the eyes. "Um, Vicky, what do you mean by 'the house up on the hill'? I was just curious." She asked her softly.
Victoria chuckled at this. "Oh, 'the house on the hill' is actually Collinwood. I work as a Governess for David Collins and I also live there." She said with a nod of her head. She also told Josette about the Collins family. Josette was very intrigued about the family. She knew that she had to move to Collinsport before and after she felt that some one or some thing pulled her to move to the small town in Maine.
When they got done with work at the Inn in the after noon, Maggie and Josette went with Winters over to the Old House to get the clothes of the eighteenth century to borrow for the party. They saw Willie Loomis there and he knew that he remembered that Barnabas told him about the ladies were coming over to get the clothes for the party at Collinwood. Willie was surprised the name of Maggie's cousin name. Loomis was pretty sure that the vampire would be pretty shocked of Josette Evans' name.
After they got the old fashioned clothes, Vicky drove Maggie and Josette back to the Evans' Cottage. After Winters dropped them off, Josette and Maggie walked in to the Cottage and they told Sam about the party. And Sam told them to have a great time. Josette and Maggie went in to their bed rooms and they were going to get ready. This night, this party of the eighteenth century theme would be very interesting indeed. Even for Barnabas Collins would seek out Josette Evans.
