Chapter 15

"Come on, Frisk!" GlassPatch said happily as led the way.

"I'm coming, GlassPatch!" The girl said, giggling as she followed the young skeleton to the beach.

Opa smiled as he watched over them from his spot. OceanPatch Undyne and Alphys were hunting for lobster and clams for dinner while Tala was speaking with the mayor of the town. "The beach does look better and town morale has gone up," he said. "You haven't been dealing with any more vandals lately, have you?"

"Not since Volcano scared that group of punks last week," Tala said before giggling. "They sure didn't expect some lava to suddenly come to life."

The mayor laughed. Volcano had come up with the trick to be a puddle of lava and if someone came to try and vandalize the beach or the caves where the monsters lived, Volcano would scare them off. Frisk had actually been the one to suggest it. "It'll be harmless, but scare them to pieces and make them think twice before coming back to cause trouble," she had said.

It had been nearly half a year since Frisk had first been given her powers to heal the timelines and all was peaceful, the monsters grateful to the child for helping them out, many even giving her gifts when she came to visit them. "We owe you a lot," Blue had said. "More than we could ever repay you for."

"I just did what I had promised," Frisk had protested.

"But you also did it out of the goodness of your heart," Stretch said, smiling.

"You're an angel to many, kiddo," Ink had said later on when Frisk told him about how she was receiving gifts from the grateful monsters. "They owe you a debt they can never repay, so they are showing you their gratitude by giving you gifts. To them, you're not just the human that saved them. You're practically royalty to them, more than just your mom and dad being the King and Queen of the monsters in your timeline."

And it wasn't just gifts the monsters all gave her. They even helped her out with her homework if she needed it and they even took care of a few issues at Frisk's school. There was a group of boys and girls that bullied Frisk and when she came home crying one day with her favorite gold heart necklace broken because of the bullies, Error had gone to tell the others.

Nightmare, Stretch, and Prance had joined Error in going to Frisk's school and surprising the students there. The students had quickly scrambled to back away as the four angry skeletons walked down the hallways. Frisk just happened to be in trouble too, cornered by the stairs by the same group of bullies that had been bothering them.

The result was the skeletons scaring the bullies to the point that a few of them fainted and the principal came out, angry that the skeletons were causing such a fuss, but Error put a stop to her complaints, telling her they should be the ones making the complaints that the principal wasn't doing a thing to stop the bullies.

"One of Frisk's aunts is a police officer and she's not going to be happy when she hears you were allowing Frisk to be bullied," Nightmare said, growling.

"How can you call yourself trustworthy when you won't help a kid under your watch?" Prance asked angrily.

Ink had to step in to calm things down while Asgore came to pick Frisk up from school. "I'll not have my daughter continue to go here if she is constantly going to be in danger," he said to the principal, who turned white at seeing him. "Frisk, grab your things."

The principal had tried to get the police to arrest the monsters, but one of the bullies was the son of one of the officers and he did not look happy and told the principal that he had been wondering why his son had been acting out and now he knew.

Frisk had been transferred to her mother's school and was doing a lot better, though the monsters did check on her now and again to make sure she wasn't being bullied. Word had spread fast about Frisk having a protective family, so no one dared to be mean to Frisk, but she had good friends too.

She now helped GlassPatch gather some more seaglass as he was working on a project. "You should take some with you back home, Frisk," the young skeleton said. "You have that science project coming up, right?"

"Yeah," she said.

"You could do a wind chime with seaglass," he suggested. "Or maybe a sand and sea glass picture. Even jewelry."

"I like the wind chime idea," she said. "I'll probably have to ask Uncle Sans to help me with that one a bit."

The two began hunting for more seaglass, which made Opa smile as he watched them. Tala came up to him. "The youngsters are having fun?" She asked.

"Yup, looking for seaglass for some projects they have in mind," her mate said. "Sounds like Frisk wants to make a wind chime."

"That is a perfect idea," the blonde-haired skeleton said. "I think I have some clear string that is strong that she can have. I've been wondering what to do with it."

Opa smiled at Tala, who smiled back as they watched the two. Volcano then came up to them and the guardian of OceanPatch smiled at him. "You were gone a while, old friend," she said gently. "Is everything alright?"

"Yes, it is," he said, smiling.

Frisk, hearing him, turned and gasped. "Uncle Volcano!" She said, running towards him and hugging him. Having gotten used to her calling him 'uncle' and hugging him, he picked her up and hugged her back.

"How are you, little one?" He asked.

"I'm good," she said. "By the way, thank you."

He blinked. "For what?" He asked, confused.

She giggled. "You used that lava trick with my volcano project the other day," she said. "I recognized you when I looked to see if someone had already poured the ingredients inside my volcano when I couldn't find them."

"Oh, that," he said, smiling. "Well, I had arrived with your family to see your project when I saw two of the kids from your former school were there and they stole the ingredients you had to make your volcano erupt. I went up to them before they could destroy your project and they quickly ran off, but that was when everyone was getting ready to sit down and the students were taking their projects to the stage."

"So that's what happened," she said.

"Yes," he said. "So I became the lava inside from that trick you suggested so that you could not only make a good impression, but also not be embarrassed."

She smiled and hugged him again. "I got an A on the project and Uncle Sans caught those two bullies trying to destroy Chara's project," she said. "Mom was pretty mad."

"I can imagine," Opa said. "Not only is Chara one of her students, but also her daughter."

"You mess with someone's family, you incur the wrath of the protective family members," Tala said with a nod.

"Guess those two bullies didn't learn the last time your uncles intervened," Volcano said.

Ink arrived then and smiled. "Frisk," he called out, making her look at him. "Your father called to say your mom has dinner ready."

Frisk looked at the time and gasped. "Oh, no, I was supposed to be home an hour ago," she said.

"Don't worry," the painter skeleton said, smiling. "I told them you were still looking for seaglass for your upcoming project and just lost track of time."

GlassPatch gathered up the seaglass Frisk had found and added some more to it before giving it to her. "You should have enough for your wind chime," he said. "If not, let me know and I'll find you some more."

"Thanks, GlassPatch," the girl said before waving goodbye to everyone and going with Ink back through the portal to the Doodlesphere. Ink then walked with the girl to the portal to the original timeline and they went through, finding Sans and Asgore waiting for them.

"There you are, baby bones," Sans said, smiling.

"Sorry, Uncle Sans. Sorry, Dad," she said apologetically. "GlassPatch and I were hunting for seaglass and found a lot."

"We heard," Asgore said, smiling. "Ink informed us after Sans contacted him to see if you were in the Doodlesphere."

"I'll help her keep a better watch on the clock next time," Ink promised before ruffling Frisk's hair. "Catch you later, kiddo."

"Catch you later, Uncle Ink. Please tell Aunty Charlotte I said 'hi'," the child said.

"I will."

The family sat down to dinner and Frisk looked over at Sans. "Uncle Sans, could you help me with something?" She asked.

"What's up, kiddo?" He asked.

"Well, I want to make a wind chime with the seaglass, but I need some help with making holes for the strings to go through."

Just then, a portal opened and they turned to see Tala there and she held something in her hands. "Pardon my intrusion," she said sincerely. "I realized I forgot to give this to Frisk before she left."

The blonde-haired skeleton set a ball of clear string on the nearby cabinet. "To help you with your wind chime," she said before going back into the portal, which vanished a moment later.

Sans smiled. "I can help you with that, baby bones," he said.

"I believe I have some wood in the workshop you can use as well to string the seaglass from," Asgore said.

"I was going to ask you about that, Dad," Frisk said, smiling.

"I'll check the shop after dinner and see," he promised.

That night, Frisk was laying down in bed, about to sleep when Refract arrived and she gasped happily, reaching up for him as he came closer and picked her up, hugging her warmly. "It almost feels like a dream," he admitted.

She giggled. "I know what you mean," she said. "I'm still getting used to having a real family and now I have so many more family members."

He chuckled before noticing she was getting sleepy and he smiled. "Let's get you back to bed," he said.

"Uncle Refract, can you sing me that lullaby again? The one you sang to me when we first met?"

He nodded and tucked her into bed, brushing a hand gently over her head as his eyes glowed softly with his power and he began to sing softly.

"Oceans of past and now,

Flow with the run of time,

Stars line up to shine,

While the sun and moon watch.

All around you, here they are,

They watch and smile,

Filling your mind with the best dreams,

That lift you up into the puffy clouds.

I feel you are ready to start the quest

To fill hearts with peace,

Heal the hurt they feel,

And keep in mind the melody I sing."

Frisk barely managed to stay awake for the last line of the song before she fell asleep and Refract smiled. "Sweet dreams, little one," he said, quietly leaving through a portal, meeting with Charlotte and Ink in the Doodlesphere. "All is well?" He asked.

"Yes," Ink said, smiling.

"No side effects from Frisk healing the timelines," Charlotte said, also smiling.

"Good," Refract said with a nod. "Well, I best be off. Goodnight, my friends."

"Good night, Refract," Ink said and Charlotte echoed him as Refract headed out and both the painter and author when into their home.

Error smiled as he saw them. "Fr-Frisk really made a big differ-differance," he admitted.

"A savior of not just her own timeline, but the others too," Charlotte said, smiling.

"Refract made the right choice," Ink said as the three headed to bed, the timelines all peaceful and enjoying their happy endings, thanks to one determined child.
